Budget was so very helpful for my mother-in-law. The team at Budget took the time to test and replace the batteries her Dodge Dart. This is after they made a thorough analysis. This is my second time dealing with John, for my car. He is professional and so friendly. He explains what they are doing and if he’s not available, his staff is also very friendly and helpful. They fit me in right away for the repair I needed, and they were quick to get my car back to me. To my pleasant surprise, my car was returned to me washed and vacuumed… bonus! I have not had service like this in a very long time from anywhere. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with this establishment.

Dealt with John at this location today and he was fantastic, knowledgeable, kind, explained everything and even had a loaner car for me. We have always dealt with the dealership that we purchased our vehicles from, but no more, they didn’t even come close to the service we experienced today. Will be going back.

Wow! I’m newer to the area and province and was nervous when my car started acting up. I was recommended this shop by a local Facebook group. Ansalan and Mark were the 2 individuals who helped me out, Ansalan took my appointment and payment today. Mark was who I was greeted by and immediately got to work on the car, before I could even make the 20 minute walk home, Mark called me with a diagnoses and ordered the part. Within 1.5 hours of showing up at the shop, my car was ready for pick up, fixed and was taken for a desperately needed clean! Ansalan and Mark showed me my toasted alternator and explained what was wrong. Educational, informative, and overall best service I’ve ever had a shop! Thank you so much, I’ll recommend this place to everyone.

Called in to get an estimate on my breaks, John was so helpful got me on asap. He explained everything to me the job was so fast and he was so helpful. I will only be going to Budget break from now on. I highly recommend this shop John was fantastic!

Was concerned about my brakes. John was so kind and test drove my Jeep, lifted it - did full on inspection of brakes and noticed an issue with my shocks. Took pictures for me to take to dealership as it under warranty. Zero charges. Will bring bringing all my brake and muffler needs to him in future!

I've been to many shops. This is by far the best one. John and the crew are awesome and so friendly. Job got done quickly. I do recommend and I will deff be going back. My girl deserves the best and that's what she got there.

A couple weeks ago, the temperature warning light was flashing on my dash. My car's radiator has a tiny crack and another auto shop said that I can just occasionally top up the coolant. I was close to Budget Brake and Muffler and called to see if I could bring my car in. John answered and said that I can bring my car in right away. His team topped up the coolant and did a safety check to make sure that my car was safe. At the end, John did not charge for any services. Fantastic service!

John and the whole team at Budget on Westwood is outstanding. Their customer service is incredible. I brought my first car in to them for an inspection before purchasing and have continued going to them ever since. Echoing other reviews here - they’ve been there to help in emergency situations, and also been there for standard oil changes and maintenance over the years, and have done all of this efficiently and with care. They take the time to fully explain any suggested repairs or work needed, and never add any pressure to add on additional work. They are incredibly honest. I’ve since moved out of Coquitlam but continue making the trip to this location for all of my car needs, I can’t recommend them enough!

I went for an oil change. What normally takes my dealer 3 hours, Budget took 30 minutes (I don't believe oil change takes 3 hours long). My dealer broke my windshield trying to do oil change, wasted my time and energy in repairing it. On the other hand Budget is perfect in this respect. Nothing unrelated to an oil change is broken. I am very satisfied with the experience so far and will update after future visits.

John and his crew are absolutely fantastic. They consistently give us great service and go out of their way to diagnose problems at little or no cost to us. When our car experienced a catastrophic engine failure due to a failed timing chain, John absorbed the cost of diagnosis and several hours of labour that his team spent working on it, and offered us great support and advice in our search for a replacement vehicle. On a number of occasions he and his crew have made fast minor repairs without charging us at all. They only recommend repairs or work that is necessary, and discuss and explain any work they recommend prior to doing it. Truly great people.

Exceptional service! John and his team made it so comfortable and easy to have my vehicle looked at and repaired. Above and beyond service from all the staff. They saved me a hefty repair cost. The service and interaction is all amazing but the peace of mind knowing I can trust John and his team and know my best interests are taken care of is priceless.

The shop was booked solid but I had a brake problem and they fit me in. Provided a quote, advised me when it would be ready and reviewed the bill at the end. Great, efficient service.

John the owner is an absolute wiz when it comes to vehicle knowledge, on two occasions I have gone in with first air conditioning system not working, John advised a quick solution, fixed the problem no charge, second slight hesitation on idle he knew problem suggested quick fix no charge. I took my car in after taking it to the dealership 3 times where they couldn’t figure out the problem over a 4 month period. Brought it in to John and he trouble shooted a few things. The first attempt was a valve switch - he didn’t even charge me as a trial and said to come back if that didn’t work and the check engine light turned back on. He ordered the part just in case. So when the light came back on the next day. I called he fixed it and my car is Finally running beautifully.

Going to budget brakes is like going to a small town family mechanic. They treat you like family and it’s refreshing. Try them out you won’t be dissapointed.

We’ve been very happy taking our vehicles to John and his team for service. Always excellent work and customer service, you are never oversold on anything, you receive good honest advice about your vehicle.

I have not brought my vehicle to John as of yet. But I can tell you, the service I got on the phone was OUTSTANDING! And, by the reviews I'm reading I already know I'm going to 5 star this business. John was incredibly helpful over the phone, explaining everything I needed to know about getting my catalytic converter replaced after being cut out. John gave me the entire run down of what needs to happen, and even explained the ICBC side of things (which he shouldn't have to, it's ICBC's job to do that). Looking forward to getting my car back! I was offered a ride home after dropping my car off. John said that he would call me when the repairs were done. I received a call at around 950am. My car was fixed! I was also quoted a price to fix the car and when told how much it was, it was almost 1/2 the price from the quote.

The service is/was INCREDIBLE. I will be telling everyone I know to come here for service.

The best auto shop in the lower-mainland. Trust me when I say John (the owner) is one of the nicest guys you'll meet. You can tell he cares about all his customers, no matter how big or small the job is. I recently moved out to Langley, but still continue to drive out this way for any of my car needs.

Recently my engine light came on, as a student I'm usually low on funds so this was a little nerve racking. I brought it into John, where he told me to fix it was a waste of money. He saved me $380, and reassured me that my car was completely safe to drive. Very few auto shops will turn down $380, when I wouldn't of known better.

I was referred to this Budget location from a local tire shop for exhaust work. The owner John was very professional and and came up with a creative/clever solution for my older car. He did more than what i expected and appreciate his integrity. Highly recommend this business.

I brought my truck in for a routine oil change at 0820. I returned at 10: 00 to find that my truck had not even moved into the shop. I was told that they had hoist problems and that there was a vehicle stuck overnight! A phone call would have been appreciated and why were other vehicles put ahead of mine when it was fixed?
John called me and told me he was sorry for the problem I encountered and promised to make it up to me. He followed through as promised and I am feeling extremely great full. I will definitely bring my truck back to John and his very capable employees.

On Monday, Dec 13th, I rushed in this shop coz someone told me that my right brake light was missing. The light was burnt I guess. I approached to Budget and Brake Muffler’s employee named Mark. They were so busy and he asked me to comeback in the afternoon coz everyone was fixing cars and he was busy too that time. I told him I have no time that afternoon coz I had to drive a long distance. I had to go in the hospital that day on or before 1: 30pm. Mark was so nice, he left his desk and helped me changed ny brake light. Hence the light wasn’t changed for a decade, I witnessed with my own eyes how hard it was to removed the cover, so he drove my car and broght inside the shop. Whennit was done, I asked him how much should I pay them, he said nothing. I was surprised coz he chaged the light plus his hardwork. I repeatedly asked him and he said it was nothing really. That they didn’t really charged me for their service. Kudos to Mark and all Employees and owners of this shop! It was an early Christmas present for me specially now that we are really financially problematic. I Highly recommended this shop.even for changing oil, they’ll check everything. I’ve been there before.

On the Tuesday night I noticed my brakes were acting strange so I called Mark chang first thing Wednesday morning. Mark told me to drop it off when I could and they would have a look, I had not even left the parking lot after dropping off at 10 am and they were pulling it into the shop. At 330pm I picked the truck up with new front brakes and rotors, new parking brake, and a oil change.plus a wash, vacuum and new wiper blades. I will definitely use this shop again. Thanks guys!

I brought my old 4Runner here prior to a trip when the previous mechanic I went to proved unreliable!
These guys went out of their way to get me in and diagnose the problem, as soon as possible. They really put in the time - and went above and beyond knowing the time crunch I was under.
There was a little bit of trial and error, but they didn't charge me until I had test drove it - and they were sure the issue was resolved (:
John was incredibly helpful - while still being honest and candid about how much I really wanted to invest in my vehicle; with her current season of life.
Overall - I can't recommend these guys enough! They were fantastic and I would 100% return there in the future!

They repaired my muffler and put on new front tires. I had been putting off repairs because of lack of time but they fixed my car in a single afternoon which was awesome. Outstanding customer service, definitely above and beyond. John went out of his way to fit both my husband and I in without appointments (oil change and full service) on a busy Saturday. He also had them buff out a nasty wheel rub on my front door panel without us asking. On more than one occasion he gave up sales and told us the service wasn’t needed. I live in Whistler and plan my vehicle's maintenance around my trips to the lower mainland to see John, Bobby and the staff at Westwood Budget. I have been going to see them for years and have even towed my car 150+ kms so that they can get to it. There is nothing better than a mechanic that you can trust to do the job right, quickly and give you peace of mind that they aren't out to rip you off.

As long as I have a truck or car that needs work. I'll be going to Budget and will continue to tell my friends to do the same.

Phoned John up and he said bring the car down. Arrived 3 hours before closing and he looked and said I can do it right now and replaced both the mufflers on my car and had me out of there before closing. Great shop and great guys working there. Would recommend anytime

I just needed DPF pipe to be extended by 4" but even before I started to explain, the guy said "I am not touching this". What could be more easy than that? Most likely he responded like that as it was close to 5pm.

We have dealt with John for years and several different vehicles. The things that make John and Budget a great company to deal with are:
- for me being female with no car knowledge, he explains everything, he treats me with respect and addresses all my concerns
- for my husband it is that they do quality work
- with my last vehicle, when it was on its last legs he did everything to keep it running until I was ready to replace but always watching the cost for me
- One time I got a phone call from him to tell me he had been researching something that he wanted to try, next time I was by.my car was running fine but he was still looking for ways to keep it running for me. How amazing is that
- my whole family deals with him, not only do we get great service, quality work, at a reasonable price, but they care and that keeps us coming back

I went to Budget as a recommendation from a friend. Mark Chang went out of his way to check beyond the job at hand to ensure my brakes were functioning at their best. He even "tweaked" a few very important things at no additional cost. I am very happy with the very fair price and professionalism at this location! As an older woman with a truck I love I was desperate to find a 100% RELIABLE place to have my vehicle taken care of. A place where I can absolutely TRUST the mechanics NOT to gouge me and know without a single doubt they are EXCELLENT at their jobs and will take GREAT care of my vehicle. Our whole family have trusted JOHN and his entire staff with all our vehicles for years and after just having another oil change and check up will continue to entrust all our service and repair needs to BUDGET!

Finding a mechanic, can be challenging especially after you’ve had someone take care of your vehicle since day one. I went into Budget Brake & Muffler today for just a routine oil change. When I arrived I was informed of every step they take, from the test drive down to the cleaning the entire car. As well, John gave me a realistic time frame of when it would be done and offered to let me borrow one of the company cars for my own connivence.

After 40 minutes I got a call from John, he informed me that my oil change and service was near complete but did come across a potenial issue. When I arrived, he walked me through what was found as my Control Arm with Ball Joint was getting close to worn out. But rather then just relying this information to me, he educated me on what the part does for the vehicle (printed out visuals too), it’s importance as well as the process of installing. John told me I could wait a few months then come back or he could help me today. I jumped on the opportunity to get it fixed. In addition, let me use the company loaner car to go about my day. When I picked up my vehicle, John worked his best to help reduce the price saving myself a good chunk.

In conclusion, I will be going back for sure as I trust my vehicle is in the right hands! Thanks again for all the help today!

Recently purchased a brand new 4runner, had a minor issue with my mirror blinker being clipped and breaking the casing. Called the Toyota Dealership brought the truck in had them order the part, waited two weeks, went in for my appointment only to find out they ordered the wrong part. I left the dealership and called John. Even though this isn't something they typically do, he was more than happy to help. He asked me for photos, ordered the part and had it installed within 2 days! I arrived at Budget Brake and Muffler 7 minutes after leaving the Mazda Service centre (leaving there is a different review!) John was the epitome of fantastic and his customer service was above the rest! From the moment he answered the phone, to my arrival to drop my car as well as the pick up! I was granted a loaner vehicle on the spot, no appointment, work completed in less that two hours! He explain the bill in detail and I was shocked to read it was $150 less than what Mazda was going to charge me. I expressed the need for summer tires, have multiple rims and 8 tires that are all worn.he told me he would sort it all out! I am sorry Mazda but I think I will be an honourable client to John for future needs!

I have my truck towed to my own mechanic who told me that there is a leak in the steel brake line that he is not equipped to replace. I found this shop online and was impressed by the positive reviews. I talked to John who told me a ballpark estimate of replacing the steel brake lines for the whole truck. I have my truck towed again to his shop. The next day, the truck was ready and he only replaced the passenger side line and assured me that the rest are OK. So he saved me money by replacing only what I need. I bugged John over the phone a couple of times, he was very patient and answered all my concerns. Special thanks to Bobby who worked on my truck.

My husband & I have been customer’s of John & his team since 1994–the service we’ve received has been the absolute BEST, he listens to his customers—I bought a new vehicle in 2012 and he’s the only one I trust to do the regular servicing, have never ever been disappointed! John has to be the nicest and most amazing mechanic in the Tri-cities area. He fixed our 2008 Dodge Durango that broke down and was super speedy in fixing it. I usually do my own work on my car but the exhaust leak turned into a broken rusted pipe at a weld joint and a flange.a bit out of my hands. I can honestly say, I doubt I'll ever go to a different shop for work on my vehicle. John and his team are the real deal, dedicated, reasonable, honest and they'll bend over backwards to get you what you need.

On a cold February morning at 5: 30 am, my truck wouldn't start. I thought about calling a tow truck, but instead, waited until Budget Brake & Muffler on Westwood opened at 8 am. John answered, and within 10 minutes, he and one of his mechanics drove to my apartment in PoCo, jump-started my vehicle, and drove it away, promising to bring it back later.

I've been getting my truck serviced and repaired at this Budget Brake and Muffler since 2016, and I can't ever remember getting this kind of service from any business I've ever used. I've been driving a vehicle for 40 years, and while lots of service people are polite, John and his staff go above and beyond! They treat everyone with courtesy and respect, and they always explain what they've done, how it works, and how long it will last. No question is too dumb or irrelevant. And if the work is something they don't do, John will refer someone as trustworthy and competent as he and his staff. Customer service is amazing!
