Not worth of a star IMO!

Too many repetitive ingredients in every course. The theme was ridicule and while I don't mind ridicule, most the dishes had it. Other ingredients repeated throughout the different courses included goat/blue cheese and mushrooms. If someone doesn't like one of these ingredients, too bad, because it's repeated throughout the night and is offputting. Oh and wines were $30 a glass but it was not mentioned so it was a surprise when the bill came.

There's care put into the dishes, service is good, and the place itself is nice and moody. Washrooms had high end scents.

So many other good restaurants out there, this is not a repeat.

An amazing experience here for a recent holiday Christmas party for our office. The staff here are top notch and the food is absolutely amazing. Fried chicken and burrata are both a must to add on to your tasting menu experience!

Had the chance to try this Michelin one star restaurant in Vancouver and went with the tasting menu with cocktails and an extra plate.

We started with the limited return of fried chicken and the dill sauce was delicious. I can see why this has been one of the most popular dishes.

The cocktail menu is a bit smaller, but they’re well executed and are refreshing.

The first course with bread had an amazing butter, variety of breads. The sour dough we got was a little burnt, well one entire side was burnt, not a toasted taste, but that burnt taste, so that was a little disappointing.

The rest of the courses were great except the radish cake paired with the scallops was a little salty.

Overall the service, ambiance, and food were very good. The value in the tasting menu is good as well. You won’t leave hungry and they give you the right amount of food.

Burdock & Co is a one michelin star restaurant situated in main st and w 11 ave. It is $125pp tasting menu with a bunch of different appetizer to add and wine pairing to add on top of that. If you dont add anything, basically you will pay $150pp including gax and gratuity.

1. Burdock Bread: The bread were okay. I wish they were salted more and made with more better to be more flavourful and have better texture. But the butter was superb thouth dont miss this
2. Rolsaba: this was the star dish of the tasting menu. Definitely made to perfection which each thing complements each other. Definitely something to keep up there
3. Treviso: i personally think there are so much flavour in one dish. All just mixing up together the bitterness the sourness the umami. So this is just personally i dislike.
4. Sugarloaf: this is very acquired taste but very interesting.
5. Costarossa: everything was good except the cheeks needed more seasoning or more sauce as it is very dry and the striploin has a lot of silver skin when trying to cut it so probably where the beef is coming from does not supply good cut.
6. Castlefranco: this was perfect just except wish the apple cakes were hotter and the condiments were way colder. Playing with the temperature difference can make it perfect.
7. Chicory Root: it was alright.

In conclusion, the food here is very acquired taste and uses local product which is good. The 7 dishes made me full so which is good too. Service was superb never had a second where my drink is not filled. The place is very packed and noisy which is not my preference. But this is definitely something worth to try for the tasting course. Cheers!

We had an absolutely lovely time at Burdock! What impressed me the most was the way they accommodated a member of our party who is gluten-intolerant. I had noted the dietary requirement when I made the booking, and our server brought it up as soon as we sat down. The GF options were exceptional, not an afterthought like you see in most restaurants.

The meal was excellent and the service was top notch. Highly recommend!

This just hits on all levels. Add a wine pairing for a fun insight to local and worldly great wines
16 August 2023 15:10
Small portions and overpriced for the quality they are putting out. Not a single memorable dish. What was memorable was my date being scolded by the manager of the diner next door for using their washroom - at the advisement of our server because the only washroom at Burdock was out of order. After letting our server know of this unpleasant experience, no recompense was initiated. More than not recommending this place, I would likely tell friends to avoid. Disappointing.

Meh. Service was decent albeit slow. Very noticeable that none of the employees smiled. Not sure if they enjoy working there. Gave off a negative vibe. Food quality was good and creative but often under seasoned. It does say something though when the best bite was the dessert. The halibut mousseline was grainy. The Wagyu cap was tough. Sabayon was oddly sweet and didn’t really suit the crab and pommes Anna. They did get the wine pairings right though. I get how restaurants want to describe the food and wine so that patrons appreciate the quality but there was way too much talking about the food. Sometimes you need to let the food and wine talk for itself.

Outstanding! The 6 course tasting menu was incredible. I savoured every bite which I admit is unusual for me.

Clearly they take a huge amount of time and effort selecting quality ingredients and putting together some of the best dishes you could hope to eat. Each dish has incredible flavor and looks stunning.

The staff does a great job of explaining the dish and ingredients. It really adds to the whole experience. On top of that the wine recommendation. Blew my mind. The wine I tried was a perfect match and something so different that I had expected or experienced.

Saddened to share that this place was a real disappointment. We had booked in advance when the price of the tasting menu was $90 per person and once there we were told it was $125. Okay, would’ve been worth it if the food hadn’t been so uninspiring. One course is literally some bread. Like sourdough and a few other types- no matter how much they were trying to upsell us how special this bread is, it’s bread! And not even the best bread we’ve had. One course was a tiny salad. Again, very uninspiring and mediocre. We added the fried chicken which was okay but the portion was meant for a toddler. A real slap in the face for $22 extra. The crab was “fine” but the wagyu was tough and lacked flavour- I have my doubts it was even Wagyu. Sadly, I cannot say I liked any of the food enough to ever come back. I struggle to see how they even obtained their Michelin star. I truly do. After dining at places like St. Laurence, Published & Annalena. This was the most expensive of them all and left still hungry and disappointed. Our server was very intense and would interrupt us every five minutes and continue to ramble on. It was exhausting! Also, they only have natural wines which is not normally my preference. The saviour of the night was the marigold gimlet which was very good. Everything else was boring, lacked quality and vision and unfortunately for us terribly overpriced.

Not sure if it was just an off night but was pretty underwhelmed. We waited 25 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. We sat at the bar and the chairs were uncomfortable. Quite noisy inside, couldn’t hear anyone that wasn’t sitting beside me. There was a table on the other side of the restaurant that was very noisy, I really wish they had talked to them to calm down.

As for the food, we had the tasting menu inspired by different kinds of trees. The dishes were unique and most were delicious but the pork which was the main dish was rubbery and I left most of it on my plate. The mushroom dish, shrimp on toast, ravioli, and olive oil cake were really good. The ravioli was lukewarm and I found a small hair in it (we were sitting right by the kitchen and none of the kitchen staff were wearing hats), but otherwise it was great. The wine pairings were very nice.

Overall compared to the other Michelin restaurants I’ve visited, this was underwhelming. Our experience would have been a lot better if the restaurant was less noisy and the chairs more comfortable.it's amazing what a difference those small details can make. Unfortunately I probably won’t be back.
06 June 2023 22:06
For a Michelin star restaurant, the service was disappointing. We went here for a birthday celebration which was indicated on the reservation. There was no mention of this or asking throughout the meal at all. We also had a cocktail with our meal that was quite subpar with the taste profile. It was bitter and sour. I do believe that other restaurants which received a Michelin star had a better dining experience. It may have been deserving to be on the Michelin recommended list (not a star), but given our experience, we were quite disappointed. I would probably not recommend for others to come if they are expecting a Michelin star experience.

Amazing place. Nice wine list, food is fresh, perfectly put together. And Shiva makes the experience even better. Absolute must in Vancouver.

Arctic sourdough - wow
Burrata - wow

Mushroom thingy - meh
Douglas fir - meh
Black cottonwood - meh

Spruce - slightly better than meh
Citrus - slightly better than meh

Went for my wife’s birthday and it was an absolutely amazing experience. We will be back when the menu changes

️ DINE OUT VANCOUVER 2023 ️
Had a great experience dining at Burdock & Co!

We were sitting at the bar and could see the chef and the crew in action. It was really impressive how they paid attention to every detail and prepared the dishes with care.

We ordered all 6 items on the Dine Out Vancouver menu. Everything tasted great. Our favourites were both of the main dishes and the parsnip Mount Seymour for the dessert.
17 March 2023 12:01
We had the tasting menu and every bite was good as the last!

Highlights: Ling cod and definitely ask for the bread on the side with butter. Amazing service and wine pairing!
07 March 2023 12:23
Terrific fine dining experience. The restaurant has a gorgeous, romantic atmosphere, and the service here was top notch and in line with what you would hope for from a restaurant of this calibre. My partner and I opted for the wine pairing with the tasting menu, which I would strongly recommend. The food itself was really varied in the different flavours offered up, but all of them were delicious and memorable in their own way. Really glad I checked this place out.
26 February 2023 14:25
All of the servings were great. One of the dishes was one of the best that I’ve ever had. I forget what it’s called but it was a savoury, rose shaped, beet puff pastry. It was phenomenal!
28 January 2023 21:16
Food is great, but not really more special than other western pacific type restaurants out there.
25 January 2023 5:10
We make it a point to try Michelin star restaurants when visiting different cities and we were disappointed we chose Burdock. The food was good but didn't quite live up to other Michelin awarded restaurants we've eaten at in other cities. One of the biggest surprises was that they did not have a non-seafood option for the main course which is a big issue when you have to make reservations before you know what the menu will be. At the end of the day it just felt really over priced for the food. Service was excellent but the food is most important.
04 January 2023 20:44
Lovely ambience and creative dishes. Well worth the price. Service is friendly and would come back again!
21 October 2022 12:50
Wonderful local and creative five course menu in a great, uplifted low-key vibe.

Excellent food: inventive, delicious, and very well executed. In addition to the tasting menu, there are optional add-on appetizers. We got one, and I wish we ordered another (groups of 3). My only complaint about the food is I wish there was more, but I’ll just plan to order more next time.

The service was a little spotty, mostly executed perfectly but sometimes slow/forgotten. And the water glasses are too small.

It’s not a perfect restaurant, but the food is so good, I’m excited to go back.
11 September 2022 11:04
I love their toast, I think it was the fried eggs and beans. I love their combination with the bread it had. It is very satisfying and tasted very delicious. I hope to taste is again some other day. The ravioli tasted great too, my sister was very excited to taste their ravioli here.
30 December 2021 22:15
Featuring foods from Pacific northwest. It was super delicious and you can watch the chef's put the food together from the bar

The only downside was the pork was very salty and seemed like preserved ham and there weren't much options to choose from in the menu as it was a set menu. We were under the impression that there were more options for the menu that were a la carte.
26 December 2021 1:52
Outstanding food and service. We ordered the burrata and each had the course meals and left feeling full. Everything was delicious but hands down the duck was the best duck I've ever tasted. Usually with ducks they're overcooked or have that weird bird smell but theirs was just perfection.
22 December 2021 10:55
Are there even words?

That shrimp and melon dish? Oh mah gah.

The corn thing with the green stuff? Jfc just inject it right into me.

The chicken breast? What did you do to that basic b? Cuz she fancy.

. So we've established there are not words.

We had a great time, the food was unforgettable and the cocktails were delicious. We loved the housemade cherries.

Very authentic local food experience in a small, pleasent room with quiet, knowledgeable service. Highly recommend as part of Vancouver's interesting food scene.
27 October 2021 19:11
First time there. Awesome tasting menu with a few starter options you can add to your meal. Food great, service great. Server very knowledgeable in their wines and made excellent pairings.
18 October 2021 23:18
Absolute best time.
We celebrated our anniversary tonight and the whole experience will be in our hearts. Thank you!
09 October 2021 18:29
Wow! Outstanding food and service from all staff. Chef is really focussed on quality local food and unique combinations. Menu changes every 6 weeks as food availability changes. Love that fresh menu and didn’t wait to go back.
25 September 2021 12:49
Great service and beautiful patio. Nice list of old world wines and staff is very knowledgeable! Portions are small but the 6 course set menu was very fun and beautifully presented. It all tasted delicious! Especially the sour dough and halibut.
30 August 2021 3:09
First time at Burdock & Co and would recommend and gladly go back! Super fresh tasting and interesting dishes. Every dish was thought out with care. The duck was delicious so much so that a few wasps wanted to get in on it too! We sat on the outside patio which was decorated very nicely and off to the side of the restaurant so you weren’t sitting on Main. Our server was very kind and added to the evening.

Only critique might be we ordered 2 servings of bread which has 3 pieces each, and I think if we didn’t maybe we wouldn’t have been as full.

But overall, happy to have this as one of my first dinners at a restaurant since the craziness of covid.
05 August 2021 20:03
As we are coming out of a pandemic you want to support the restaurant industry but my experience tonight was merely ridiculous. Arrived at 7: 15 pm for a patio seating and until 7: 37 pm no server appeared to serve us or take our orders. My partner and I sat on the seats for almost 30 mins drinking tap water. In the end we left, I told the hostess how it was ridiculous and got a “we’re so sorry” and I just want to say this is the first time where I am disappointed over service, and this is unacceptable. I hope this restaurant can really tune up their operations for client services.
28 July 2021 9:08
Incredible service. Incredible food. Can not recommend highly enough. Thanks for taking care of us!
14 July 2021 15:10
If you're looking for fresh, local food served with a lack of pretension, this is your place. Farm to table at its best in Vancouver, with wonderful wine suggestions. If you're looking for large portions or family-style sharing, this isn't the place.
24 June 2021 9:15
One of my favourite cocktails is an old fashioned and the one I had here is the best I’ve had in the city so far. In my quest for the best my mind always comes back to this one.
15 April 2021 20:58
Amazing location with wooden walls and candlelight on the tables. We had the set 5 course Valentine's day menu with the wine pairings and it was perfectly paired. All of the courses we're extremely well done and the coursing order made sense. Get the beer pairing with the desert
13 April 2021 3:44
Gorgeous, locally-sourced and inspired dishes, amazing drinks and wines with a rich story behind them. And let’s not forget the incredible and knowledgeable service staff! The candlelit atmosphere was intimate, cosy and comfortable. We very much enjoyed our time here tonight and would absolutely go back, especially as chef Andrea seems to be having a blast reinventing the menu every few months!
01 April 2021 11:06
Loved it, cozy and beautiful atmosphere with great service and delicious food. I'll be back again for sure!
24 March 2021 3:38
Beat meal I've had in forever. The tasting menu is so well done and absolutely delicious. We look forward to going back
13 March 2021 22:46
One of the best culinary/wine experiences in Vancouver. Cant explain it better than that. Small place so make rezzos
26 January 2021 14:26
Incredible hospitality, excellent food, great wine list, and a lovely atmosphere. An absolute local gem that is terribly underappreciated; one of the first restaurants in town to have a fully natural wine list and Chef Andrea Carlson and her team create beautiful dishes that express the abundance and freshness of Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, and beyond. Impeccable service from Tiago and the rest of the front of house staff really bring the experience together. 5/5, do recommend!
19 January 2021 19:10
Came in early for dinner.

Had the prix fixe with additions of oysters and truffles (for the mushroom lasagne).

The drink pairing is a fantastic accompaniment and cannot be recommended enough.

Each course was fresh and full of flavour. The wild mushroom lasagne was my favourite course, even before the truffles.
05 January 2021 7:07
Food was incredibly delicious, portions were surprisingly large for th style of restaurant. Make sure you go hungry!
30 November 2020 21:52
Incredible food & service. Space felt safe, every detail was very thoughtful. Food feels like you're eating art. Can't wait to go back. Such a talented team!
03 September 2019 1:29
One of the top 5 meals I’ve ever had! Menu is concise and thoughtful - really paying attention to seasonal and local ingredients. I also love that they have plates and bowls from local artisans such as Janika Larson ️. Everything start to finish was so memorable - thanks Meredith!
