I’m not sure if he was a surgeon or nurse but he was very rude to me when asked about my ingrown mail and some skin condition. Caucasian man maybe 6 or less foot tall with short hair I think. He didn’t take my situation serious at all and had a mocking and judgemental attitude to me the whole time even though he was serious about suggesting to surgically remove the ingrown nail. I told him I was really worried about surgery since I never had surgery. Later on he then said I should just wait my nail out if it gets worse come back. He gave me no medications for the nail and I’m not sure if they’re supposed to do that if not so I’m very sorry about that. But after the way he treated me the whole time I don’t know if I feel comfortable to go back or go to a different hospital if I have to go again since it’s my nearest one

Edit: so the owner replied, maybe instead of letting others waste more of their time making a complaint. How about you do something to about some of the workers acting downright inappropriate to the patients instead of just replying to bad reviews. This hospital already has so many bad reviews that replying to me saying that makes it look even worst. I mean this hospital couldn’t even make it a 3 star review. It feels like the owner is putting a bandage on a deep scar with this one sadly

Go to Royal Columbian ER if you can, bigger department, more staff. 3 stars because the other departments are ok, and the ER doctors here are more proactive in diagnostic tests and referrals compared to the ones in Eagleridge Hospital. HOWEVER, when we went on Sunday morning due to stroke like symptoms there was only 1 triage nurse. I have never been to an ER in the lower mainland with 1 triage nurse for hours.usually its at least 2. Not sure if this was a one off, but pple with heart attack, stroke symptoms, etc - time is of the essence. Those pple still need to wait in line for triage, and with 1 nurse triaging, every minute was critical.

Ok I woke up in Burnaby Hospital after suffering 3 heart attacks! They didn't give up on me and I'm so grateful to be still above ground among the living here on earth
10 November 2023 1:25
A nurse refused to council me on hepatitis symptoms and cut me off when I wanted to pursue the subject. A very rude and dismissive staff. They are more likely to play hot potato with you rather than give you medical assistance.

My mom just had an operation here last week.she had a terrible experience from those vary unprofessional nurses.they weren't attending to her properly and the whole time she was there her buzzer button wasn't plugged in. She was wondering why none of the nurses came when she would press the button. Her doctor had to get mad at the nurses for another patient cause they weren't paying attention to them. She felt like a inconvenience to them, we are First Nation. This racial discrimination needs to stop in our health care system, if you can't treat others the way you want to be treated then DONT BE A NURSE! Zero Stars to the nurses that were supposed to take good care of my Mother! And when she was waiting for her operation she kept getting bumped even by people that weren't in as much pain as her, she wasn't allowed to eat or drink till her operation and she had to get mad and ask when it's her turn. When the doctor finally got to see her he said she was severely dehydrated so they had to hook her up to the IV right away!

Worst maternity clinic. Dr. Mistry never time. We wait 2 hours for our booked appointment. No apology or explanation. This department is so disorganized. Dr.ross is amazing.
14 August 2023 12:23
CHO Dr. RAYMOND is such a genuine and caring doctor! There is not many people u see now that care, but with doctor Raymond your in great caring hands so thank you for making our Burnaby hospitsl vist great

Reception at the emergency area was unreasonably rude with their tones and remarks. Seriously, if you hate your job so much that you need to project your negative attitude on to sick patients please find a less important job.
08 August 2023 13:48
I’ve been here a couple of times in the ER and overall I’ve had a good experience. Yes, the wait is long, but the Drs and nurses are amazing. Dr Allan and Dr Johar were very caring with me. They truly take time to diagnose the issues and provide good care. Kudos to the nurses as well, they are working around the clock helping everyone. Thank you all for your service!
07 August 2023 18:35
Gave birth to my first born here. Overall amazing experiences. Nurses were highly skilled and very patiently with me. Thank you Dr. Dunn and Dr. ANDREWS

The road sign leading to this hospital should read "Beware of hardship".
Posting my experience, only because there is a probability that a fellow being with infants / toddlers / kids could read and avoid visiting this excuse of a hospital at all costs.

Visited the ER with my toddler kid with a 41.9 deg. C fever to be attended by one of the most apathetic person posing as a Triage practitioner. Please train your staff on the skill to "LISTEN" first, before responding. As I am explaining the events that led to his fever, responses are nowhere related to why/how of the condition. We made a stern request to at least check the temperature again to convince her to allow to proceed to the waiting area. Then comes two doctors with no experience handling toddlers, calls for no help when he sees our kid getting afraid of getting checked.
After standing a while, they both give up, but wait, not without giving random guesses as to what might be causing his fever - thanks much, we really needed the guess work.
The final question from the doctor left me stumped. But, it is not for my review here because, for all the money paid as a non-resident Canadian in that hospital, that snippet of humor is the only payback I got.
Thanks but no thanks!

I’m a 25 y/o male with Alcohol Use Disorder. I struggled on a stretcher in emergency, convulsing and severe muscle spasms while undergoing early withdrawal. My paramedics, Nurses and Doctors were exceptionally good. While hallucinating over the next 10 days, I recieved the kindest nurse care I’ve ever seen. I get very confused/try and run /hallucinating when I go through severe withdrawal. Amazing Social worker as well. Heading into treatment again soon. I didn’t feel lonely.

Burnaby Gen, y’all got it down. But god damn get rid of the rice pudding on the breakfast tray.
02 July 2023 14:52
Terrible place, every time I went to be attended to, or I took someone to be attended to, we were waiting AT LEAST 7 hours. A disrespect to anyone who is already sick or injured. This is a hospital and they should have more compassion for patients.
22 June 2023 17:26
I have been to Burnaby Hospital many times. I had Blood work, Scans, and saw doctors it's not a bad hospital but it's not the best. The staff is not really rude maybe a bit harsh and if they are harsh I will answer in the same manner. I never had any problems with the staff for blood work or the scans. One thing I know is their mental health is a NO-NO as they defame people. After you need to go see a lawyer to remove the defamation, this is very bad. I never had any mental diseases but now because of these bad shrinks, I am some kind of nut case. It could be funny but it's very serious and it's going to have repercussions. So don't go or send anybody to mental health. Go see a therapist a private one and pay. I am now suing Burnaby Hospital for defamation. It is very serious they also let people die like again on the news their mental health refused a suicidal man and he ended up dead by suicide in 2015 or 2016. Vancouver General Hospital is number 1 in comparison. You can go to Human Rights for defamation.

Currently at this emergency January 9,2023 @7: 40pm, the nurse at the triage on the left side is VERY RUDE AND has an extremely CONDESCENDING attitude towards the patients. They need to be more patient if they want to continue to work at a fast-paced environment.

Update: right now is 10: 07pm and yet no update on the blood work that was done at 8: 15pm. People who came later than me were assigned to beds at least 5 people. (I saw them getting into the line after me

Asked whether my parent can drink water after examinations, nurse or the doctor in the zone 2, typing, didn't even look up and said "I don't even know who your parent is" in the most sassy tone. If you have a professional job, act professionally. Thank you:)

DO NOT TAKE A BABY TO THIS HOSPITAL! WORST ER. Took my almost 2 month old into the ER after he was coughing uncontrollably and was very congested on Christmas Day. Had to wait an hour in the waiting room amongst other patients who were unwell in a very unhygienic place for a 2 month old. When I approached the receptionist for some hot water to warm my sons milk she was having a chat with the other receptionists and seemed to be annoyed that I had approached her.
After the hour long wait we were taken in and seen fairly quickly by a doctor. She told us after doing minimal checks that my son was fine and maybe just had some milk stuck in his nose hence why he was coughing and congested.
2 DAYS LATER my sons symptoms got a lot worse and we decided to take him to BC children’s hospital in hopes for a better diagnosis and better care. He was diagnosed with RSV and Bronchitis….
Shame on Burnaby hospital for not taking a 2 month old baby’s symptoms seriously in this horrid flu season.

As a first-time mother, I was anxious about my delivery, but I was pleasantly surprised by the care and support I received at the Burnaby General Hospital. From the moment I arrived in labor and delivery, the staff quickly assessed me and got me admitted early. The rooms at Burnaby General Hospital were spacious and clean, which made my stay more comfortable. I had been going to their maternity clinic since week 20, and the staff had always been empathetic, caring, and patient with me. The doctors and nurses were always available to answer my questions and address any concerns I had. They even went above and beyond by calling me on the weekends and evenings to let me know my test results, which really helped to ease my anxiety.

Overall, I am extremely grateful for the care and support I received from the staff at Burnaby General Hospital. They made a difficult and stressful experience much more bearable. I highly recommend Burnaby General Hospital to any expectant mothers who are looking for a positive childbirth experience. Thank you to everyone that was involved!
02 February 2023 17:03
Went into the ER expecting a long wait but everything went by quite fast. Everyone was really nice especially my nurse. I had the absolute bestest nicest nurse!
27 January 2023 15:37
The staff are working hard to provide care. My questions have been answered thoroughly. Like everywhere, more staff is needed.
23 January 2023 4:53
There is something broken with the ER at Burnaby. I am 2 for 2 on wrong assessments and the rest of my family is at least as bad.i wouldn't bother to pile on, this but the interactions with the docs has been really strikingly poor.
19 January 2023 1:14
I went today to maternity clinic and was quite dissapointed. They only had one doctor who had to be in labour, and full hall of pregnant women waiting for appointment. And they told us it's gonna be awhile.
12 January 2023 9:55
The staff are genuinely helpful and care deeply about their patients. Staff, Doctors and nurses I've dealt with have done their best to help.
Join the growing Burnaby Hospital Foundation team and be a part of a brighter future in healthcare.

I’ve been here a few times in the past 8+ years and haven’t seen improvement in the triage for their care for emergency patients.

It’s so sad to see how dismissive they are towards the patients, specifically the Asian lady with glasses at the triage, she would always give you an attitude, death stare, and an impolite answer whenever you ask her a question or if you are checking in with her. It’s not the first time we have dealt with her & she is so awful to deal with. It’s like she hates this job or something. I understand this maybe a tough job, but no one wants to be here in the ER too & patients are already anxious. I’d wish she gave some compassion and care, just like how Fraser Health shared commitments states, “Deliver courteous and considerate care to you and your family. ”.

I’ve been in the hospital for 5 hours already since 1am, it’s now 6am, and it seems to be normal for them to have patients to wait. We understand the doctors are busy and prioritizing the ones in most danger, but all we only want to know is when can we be out & to prepare for work.

When my husband gently asked if there are any updates & how long it will take, that lady rolled her eyes and sternly said, “THERE ARE NO UPDATES FOR YOUR WIFE” and left it as it is.

She could have handled it with better care such as, “Unfortunately there are no updates, we will call your wife’s name when the doctor’s are ready. ” or “We currently do not have any updates, please proceed to wait and we will call your wife’s name as soon as we can. ”

It seems like it’s too much of a question to ask and the sad part is that we were so patient with her. This made us feel very small, extremely anxious, and completely dismissed. I am very disappointed how Burnaby Hospital/Fraser Health doesn’t review these issues for many years now and continues to promise patients their false “shared commitments”.

Eagle ridge has much more efficient and kinder staff, & wait times are relatively shorter. It’s probably worth going to them than Burnaby Hospital if you don’t want to be treated poorly.
20 December 2022 19:35
Was supposed to have CT scan but no one called me. It's been 4 months. What if I have cancer. Too much red tape
17 December 2022 0:45
First time visit this. There are not too many patients, however the waiting time was insane. U will experience the wait forever. I noticed it’s have been 2hours passed but no one got called. And when u got called, there will be another waiting room inside and u will wait for extra forever again.
My experience at VGH before was okay even though the hospital was way more busy than this one.
06 December 2022 0:33
OK so 1st they send some big dramatic email saying you have to have another person to help you after surgery, and to show up 3 hours early. I took Time off work, and payed expensive Uber for NOTHING! Then after being told to calm down and wait "we'll call you " After 8 hours, come to find out they should have known they were going to keep her overnight, because she had sleep apnea and nobody ever called me! The nurse doing the IV in beginning didn't know the difference between Dextrthorozene and antibiotic drip liquids. Then give me Attitude when I called them out. They should Fire the whole Daycare! Never going Back EVER!
02 October 2022 15:26
Worst and terrible service ever! It takes you four to five hours in emergency to see the doctor while you are in pain and can’t wait even a minute! So why do they call it emergency?
17 September 2022 3:20
I went here once for numbness on my left arm and some fingers. The doctor examined me for 30 seconds and advised to "improve my posture" and take "tylenol for pain. "

I saw my chiropractor on the next day. He provided better manual treatments than the ER doctor. No wonder there are so many chiropractor's offices in Canada. And sad to see that chiropractors provide better service than MD doctors!
12 September 2022 6:34
Very well run Hospital. Efficient Emergency Physician who put my Dislocated Shoulder back together without further pain and discomfort.
If you have to remain in the Hospital for a stay, you will find all the nurses, doctors, physio, social work and support staff are knowledgeable, kind and efficient.
The food is also varied, healthy and surprisingly tasty
11 September 2022 13:37
I've been in and out of Burnaby General Hospital twice this week and I have to say that whether you are an emergency or on a ward you are getting world class service!
05 September 2022 3:33
If you need to go to the hospital, do yourself a favour and drive (or ask the ambulance driver) to another location 10-15 minutes away. The nurses are rude and not attentive at all. I pretty much need to micro manage the nurses who were dealing with a family member of mine in the hospital as they did not take said member to the bathroom when they needed assistance to go. On another occasion, I caught them not helping someone who needed assistance to eat (food was untouched).
13 August 2022 10:52
I am rating only the lab where I went for blood tests at week 39 of pregnancy. The female sitting at reception (23 feb at 8: 20) of the lab was super rude. I did not take a requisition hard copy with me. She asked me to go back. I asked if there was any option of taking a print out at the hospital to which she replied "I don't know. Please go! "
Another kind person came from behind the desk and suggested that I can ask the doctor to fax me the requisition. This person talked in a polite manner.
I said ok, and sat in the absolutely empty waiting area to call the doc (I am 39 week pregnant). Suddenly the rude receptionist shouts that I can not sit here till I don't get a requisition. "Please go outside! ". She added.
I am so happy I am not registered at Burnaby hospital for delivery. And would like to believe that she is the only one so rude and rest of the staff is nice and friendly.
12 August 2022 7:01
The 1 star is for everyone EXCEPT the nurses.

The nurses are a different story. Rude and Incompassionate.

For someone to choose this profession (nurse), one would assume that person be empathetic, caring, compassionate, etc etc. These nurses are none of those. They are the worst! And not just one of them - ALL the nurses I encountered - in person, and over the phone.

Not the least bit helpful in the most stressful of times for everyone who is looking to them for support and sympathy.or a simple update? Unbelievable, how incapable of human decency they expel.

If you have a choice - do not come here.
11 August 2022 6:04
I wish I can give 0 or minus star. The nurses mentioned it’s going to be 3-4 hours wait for walk in, I waited 9 hours in the waiting area and still not get in. They didn’t allow me to eat so I was starved while holding on to my severe headache. I asked for more painkiller they said you have to talk to a doctor to get more/higher dose. They kept saying I have 5 more people before me for 4 hours straight, no updates. The guy beside me has diabetes and he waited for 10 hours and hasn’t eat anything yet since morning. Better go to a walk-in clinic.
06 August 2022 8:34
Long wait, some people are not that friendly and accomodating.not even asking if you are still ok or doing fine not until somebody will do some test on you and after that as if you are not existing again.i’ve been to vgh and st. Paul and mt. St. Joseph big difference.
01 February 2022 19:30
Baby’s Best Chance? Burnaby Hospital. We had a fantastic experience during the birth of our baby last week after being diverted from Surrey. There were many nurses attending to us, and friendly, knowledgeable doctors too. We had a lot of space, privacy when wanted, and continuous health checks that were so very reassuring. During the birth everyone was cheering us on. The room was filled with energy, including from 3 student doctors and nurses.

The nurses were thorough and demonstrated tons of baby care tips along the way once baby was born. Parking and navigating the hospital was also a breeze. Everyone seemed very on top of things, and energetic at all hours of the night. Meals were tasty too! I appreciated how thorough everyone was.

After losing our way (Because of poor directions at your main door) to my appt.with the Optimization Clinic, we were met at the Emergency by an extremely kind and helpful staff member, at 3pm, Dec. 11th.
I did not get her name, but she confirmed where we were to go, got wheelchair for my husband and helped him in it, provided us with fresh masks and good directions to the Optimization Clinic. I would like to commend her for her assistance.
I would like to mention that anyone not familiar with the Hospital would not know where the Levl Entrance is. Directions or a small map would be more helpful than just, "Closed, use Level 1 Entrance).
19 January 2022 9:43
They shut down the overnight psych ward so when suicidal people get brought here we're forced to sleep in chairs or out in the open on mattresses next to other patients which is not a good experience for traumatized people. They don't have any beds for psych patients so they rush releasing us, I explicitly told the dr I was feeling suicidal and still got rushed to release and ended up back there the next day with another attempt. The staff are overworked and they try but the hospital has clearly been underfunded and little help exists for the suicidal - people need to know what's happening to the mentally unwell in this city we're being ignored and forced into the streets I can only imagine what this is doing to the suicide rates in this city.
20 December 2021 18:57
Nicole surgery recovery 4th floor. Very good. Caring, patient, pleasant and did a lot. Kept all her patients very comfortable. The 5 stars are for her.
20 December 2021 14:27
Never seen such worst hospital! So minimum staff in emergency, idk how can they even call it emergency when the is less staff than walk in clinic.
10 December 2021 1:58
I am always happy with their services. Amazing, nice and caring staff, well-organized system, great doctors. All you need as a patient.
03 December 2021 1:05
This is for the Paramedic ladies Roomy and Kayla, who picked me up and transferred me to Burnaby Hospital. I had been getting sick, convulsing and disorientated. From the time they placed me in the ambulance and took me to the Hospital, both ladies were kind and professional, placing me at ease. I have Bipolar and PTSD. I am nervous about treatment and hospitals. Both Paramedics treated me with dignity, which made all of the difference! Thank you to them and ALL Frontline workers, especially Paramedics who are the first to transport! Also, a special nod to the nice security man working in the ER that night, as I appreciated the call for a taxi so early in the morning!
22 November 2021 3:34
Delivered my firstborn at Burnaby in November and the labour and delivery unit was amazing. Clean, calm, and competent and friendly staff. The maternity unit was also amazing for my prenatal visits. Dr. Lau and the L&D nurses that helped deliver my baby were incredible, so was Dr. Chua! The entire process was smooth. One happy mommy, daddy, and baby!
21 November 2021 5:11
This is only for the Burnaby maternity clinic. Every visit you need to wait for at least half hour, so what is the point for appointment?
19 November 2021 7:18
We had our sisters delivered her second child here, the Dr was exceptionally good but some of the staff was so hard to believe that they worked in a hospital. The word empathy is far beyond the reach for some of t them. Have you been to the cafeteria? The old lady not sure if it’s Timmy staff or hospital staff is the rudest in any Tim’s we have been to. You don’t have to cry with the patients don’t have to smile to their face but you can behave professionally and not rude. I dint think there is anyone seeing or reading these reviews thanks to the management
15 November 2021 4:55
I tore my acl completely on August 20th. I had torn my meniscus 3 times before and knew it was worse than that. The Dr's didn't even mri it. Instead they did an x-ray for broken bones and then asked me if there was anything else I wanted. When I told them it wasn't broken but probably torn they said they suspected that but still refused an mri. They handed me 5 ibuprofen and sent me home. Your ACL starts to dissolve when floating around fully torn and by the time I got an MRI and the results (over 2 months later) my ACL had dissolved to the point my surgeon would need to take 2 of my hamstring ligaments if I ever want an ACL in my left knee. Had they just mri'd it that night there's a chance the surgeon would've been able to fix it without taking out multiple hamstring ligaments. Not to mention how they were just pushing my knee harder when they saw it wasn't moving. If I was ever in the situation again I would genuinely not go to the hospital at all before I would go back to Burnaby general
09 November 2021 0:42
My ex wife had a serious illness and they treated her quickly and with the care that was required. 5 stars for this experience!
08 November 2021 11:18
WORST SERVICE, waited to get registered for hours. At first they told us to wait outside until we get called but said they tried to call us 3 times. Symptoms got worse without any help only told me to calm down. Others said we were supposed to wait inside but we we told many times to wait outside. Didn't get help or see doctor so we left.
05 November 2021 18:09
The lady at the ER TRIAGE (Tuesday Oct 19,2021,3pm) had ZERO KNOWLEDGE about MSP and how MSP cards work. She did not know why my father’s MSP (who less than 2 months ago landed as PR) is not yet active. We found her tone and behaviour to be also extremely rude towards my 64-year-old father when she was asking the triage questions. Moreover, she told us that ER doctors cannot provide a medical report, which again proved to be WRONG INFORMATION, when we asked the doctor and he kindly provided the report.
31 October 2021 17:41
I couldn't be more thankful for this hospital and the service I have received there for the past 13 years that I lived in South Burnaby.
My 2 kids were delivered there and service was exceptional and recently my daughter had an incident in which we had to call emergency services and they cared for my daughter a great deal. Thank you.
20 October 2021 5:31
My experience there was horrible I been waiting 4 hours at emergency room.the don’t let me drink water until see a doctor. Probably they don’t consider my symptoms important the fact is I don’t trust anymore in Burnaby hospital. Do I have to be close to the death to see a Doctor?
20 September 2021 10:48
I've been spending quite a deal of time at Burnaby Hospital for Iron infusions, blood transfusions, and recently for emergency surgery. No words can describe how lucky i am to have had such amazing care and compassion from the nurses at this hospital.

The Outpatient lab has some of the most amazing employees. I've been in 5 times now for iron infusions and am terrified of needles. They know this and go out of their way to make sure i am comfortable during the entire procedure. Thank you all!
22 August 2021 8:15
Had an MRI done at Burnaby General on July 29th at 05: 45 a.m. The two ladies working in the MRI department were great! Very friendly, explained what was going to happen and made the experience pleasant. I got there a little ahead of schedule and had my MRI done shortly after the appointment was due to start which was nice. I asked a question about the MRI machine once it was done and the technician was more than happy to provide details on how it worked. This has been the best experience I've encountered with any type of MRI/X-ray requirement. Thanks!
15 August 2021 6:27
My grandma got admitted to the hospital and has had a stroke. She is scared of being alone and the nurses here don't seem to even care especially a specific one Jenie on the acute care for elder. When some family members tried to visit her, they called security on the family. I wouldn't recommend this place
11 April 2021 0:17
Thanks to the 2 ladies at the main entrance who helped me drop off a cell phone so I can call my Mom.
Thanks again for your help this evening.
Stay safe.
07 April 2021 7:24
Was transferred here from Langley to have a baby and was completely disrespected. Any single moms coming to have a baby, I would reconsider. The judgment was unreal and completely unprofessional.
13 March 2021 20:32
My friend came into the hospital to get a Rabies shot and who knew you couldn’t get one even though there is crazy swelling on your hand with a massive puncture wound! Are you guys trying to kill people?
11 March 2021 18:37
To say this hospitals is unsafe is an understatement. Last Saturday I was at the ER, and at no time while being assessed by the triage nurse was I screened for COVID-19 (despite the fact that I was there with chest pain.) Once I was called in to see a doctor, I was seated in chairs in section 'C' - which were not socially distanced. I also sat waiting to be seen for 2.5 hours. Turns out a nurse forgot to mark my chart, as well as the chart of another patient, to be seen by the ER physician. This while a potential COVID-19 patient was in a room approximately 12 feet away. To make matters worse, the bathroom was an unclean, filthy, disgusting mess and I saw no one do cleaning of any kind in the 3 hours I spent there. At one point, a nurse by the name of John came into the ER without wearing a mask. When I was finally seen, I wasn't seen by the actual ER doctor but was instead seen by a student doctor. He said my pain was "likely" muscle-related, did no testing to make sure it wasn't my heart that was the issue, gave me pain medication and sent me on my way. Meanwhile, I still have the same pain one week later. However, given the lack of social distancing, nurse not wearing proper PPE, and overall uncleanliness of the ER ward, the last place I would go back to is there. I shared what happened on social media, and Fraser Health reached out to me asking that I e-mail them my concerns. Since then, they've been radio silent. No follow-up, no contact with me as to how they plan to address said concerns.nothing whatsoever. They'd rather sweep things under the rug and pretend problems don't exist, when it's well-documented that Fraser Health has longstanding issues. Earlier this week, another FH-operated hospital, Royal Columbian, was in the news, as staff weren't wearing masks there either - so this obviously isn't a one-off issue.

There is also a physician who works out of Burnaby General Hospital who communicates with third parties and strangers on the internet about former patients (this particular physician admitted to doing this as he provided the College of Physicians and Surgeons with copies of his communication with said third party, which I have seen and now have copies of myself.) So, don't go into this hospital thinking they value patient privacy - because they don't.

Burnaby General, and Fraser Health overall, can clearly not be trusted.

I was in a car accident that resulted in a broken femur, I had my surgery done at Vancouver General, after five days they transferred me out to Burnaby General for recovery. In comparison to VGH this place is terrible. Four patients to a room, One of the people I was sharing the room with had some form of dementia and only spoke Russian, the other had some form of infectious skin condition and as such all other patients were barred from using the toilet in our room. Being five days into recovery with a broken femur I couldn't really walk so was I expected to just get up walk to the public toilets in the foyer with broken leg? The guy with the skin condition would get up from his bed constantly which I guess was deemed a risk? Eventually they put an alarm on his bed that would sound whenever he got up.

The nurses also didn't care for the Russian lady at all, instead of seeing if a translator was available they just shuffled her back into bed whenever she got up. She was constantly speaking Russian the entire time I was there, all night she mumbled to herself and would get very distraught and try to leave. The nurses would just bring her back to the room. This was incredibly stressful as I couldn't sleep at all between the guys bed alarm sounding every half hour and her constant speech.

This leads into the next problem, THEY FORGOT TO FEED ME. Every day I'd be given a sheet asking what I'd like for my meals the next day. Each time they'd forget to bring me a meal. I'd call for a nurse who would then act shocked that I hadn't been fed, then she'd tell me she'll fix it. Then return an hour later saying all the meals had been taken and they'd give me an extra yogurt/pudding/fruit with lunch. Lunch would roll around and again I'd get nothing. It happened two days in a row (Six meals) I ended up having to call my family to bring me some food. This was absolutely ludicrous, how can you forget to feed your patients?

The atrocious conduct of the nurses and doctor that was assigned to me also blew me away. Compassion fatigue is an understandable problem in hospitals, but that's not a justification to treat your patients poorly. I was in constant pain from the broken femur and hydromorphone was just barely taking the edge off. Coupled with the fact that I could barely sleep and wasn't being fed I was very anxious and uncomfortable.

I take ativan occasionally for panic attacks and asked if I could have some so that I could just try to sleep and not think for a while. Instead of consulting with the doctor, the nurse just said "It's not on your prescription history" When I was transferred from VGH they gave me a bunch of paperwork including a list of all the medications they'd prescribed and dosaged. I tried to show the nurse these papers and she just sighed and walked away without looking. I started having a full blown panic attack an hour later, I asked again and was told no a second time for the same reason "There's no proof you've been prescribed them before. " Again refusing to look at the paperwork I had with me.

I once again had to call my family to grab my prescription from home. Upon showing up with my meds the nurses tried to intervene and tell my mother that I'm not allowed to have them which may be flat out illegal? The RX has my name and information on it, and is proof that I am prescribed them.

They then told me that the " (assigned) Doctor didn't approve this medication for you" Of course she didn't because as far as I'm aware they never actually asked her about it, instead choosing to ignore my requests for no reason at all.

I wish I could go back in time and refuse the transfer to Burnaby General though I don't know if refusal would even be an option. In closing: Burnaby General is terrible, while there were some good staff the majority were compassionless zombies, the wheelchairs and crutches were dilapidated, and the facilities themselves are antiquated, ugly and prisonlike. If it is an option I implore you to go to literally any other hospital.

This is the worst hospital in Vancouver and needs to be recognized. Absolutely sickening behavior from the nursing staff needs to stop or someone in that hospital will get hurt soon, die or be sued for misdiagnoses. The entire nursing staff need to learn manners and how to treat people. To the nurses who made me feel like my life didn't matter, I have no problem hurting you or keying your car. Think about that before you treat someone fearing for their life like utter garbage.

I made some macrame bracelet. I dropped it off at the gift shop hoping they could made some money out of it. Days later I passed by, so I went to ask if they wanted some more. The worker there didn't appreciate it at all. After talking to her I walked away. Then I heard her complaint about it to the receptionist. I never asked to be thank for it. But I never expected a complaint. I was so hurt, I just wanted to pay back what the hospital did for me. I'm not rich, but what I made is from the heart. I just wanted to do something for the hospital. The hospital helped me a lot. But I'm hurt that they don't like what I did. I just wanted the hospital to made some money. I never asked to be thank for it, that's why I just dropped it off without saying anything. I never thought that would made people uncomfortable. Now I learned.

Not good service, went in with a non displaced fracture of my foot. Supportive measures written on med record which means nothing was done. No foot cast boot, crutches nothing. Pain ongoing for two years, follow up x-ray now shows a 3mm displaced fracture from this negligence. Now pain for life. All documentation to show a trail of poor treatment.

Awful experience. As most others have said previously. The wait times are terrible. We waited for close to 4 hours, and dealt with rude staff. Nurses couldn't find a vein, my girlfriend had 5 holes in her arm after they finally jammed a needle into the bend of her arm. We were told to come back the next day for another antibiotic treatment, which was fine but my partners arm was in a lot of pain and discomfort the entire night from the mishandling of the nurse who quote on quote said "don't worry I always find the vein" then proceeded to force a needle into her arm causing her to a lot of pain.
The following day we came back for our appointment, but they didn't keep our chart so we had to go through the entire registration process once again. After seeing a nurse they attempted to take a blood sample. Confused my partner asked why they needed more blood. The nurse said "oh I am not sure actually"
Turns out they had the wrong patient.
We have endured constant ineptitude, heavy weight times and general miscommunication between departments. This is easily the worst hospital we've ever been too. Please save your time and health and go elsewhere. It'll be worth the extra driving time in the long run, good luck friends.

Worst emergency hospital clinic I have ever been to. The amount of malpractice and lack of empathy is so heartbreaking. The way the nurses treat patients is so unprofessional and disrespectful I am considering making a formal complaint. I am truly concerned for the health and welfare of future patients and my deepest sympathy goes to them. Doctors are made a promise to save lives, and these people treat every person who comes through the door like criminals. Shame on you.

Wait times here are just terrible. You end up waiting hours. Better to take children to Children's Hospital. Not enough doctors to go around. Need a overhaul with priorities. Children, seniors priority thab adults and teenagers unless severity is worse.

Absolutely horrible. Do not understand how hospital hires such incompetent staff. From beginning reception was incredibly rude, to the point of only replying in snarky, snobby replies. Wait time was very long as expected. Now the best part, came to hospital for suspected sprained ankle. Some young doctor scanned X-ray and announced that “it’ll be fine, just an age related injury, make sure you start stretching it and try to get back to using it ASAP”. Week later, ankle looks WAY worse. Go to ankle injury specialist, he notices doctor didn’t order MRI which from what he explained is required with such injury. Go to MRI. FOUR fully torn ligaments (require surgery) and and an ankle fracture. Special kind of carelessness and plain old stupidity at Burnaby hospital. Want to get a misdiagnose and instructions for how to make it worse, you’ve come to the right place.

Made me wait for 2 hours straight for absolutely no reason. I was there for an emergency medical reason though.

The new admitting area is beautiful. The open concept makes you feel like you're in a hotel more than a hospital. Good work

If you want to die early or getting worse, don’t hesitate to visit Burnaby Hospital emergency. Waiting forever! We pay billions $$ in order to get better service, but we get Zero service. BS

Went there after a pilonidal sinus excision that started being infected. The doctor that saw me, proceeded to do no checks, no ultrasound, immediately he wanted to cut the whole thing, redo the surgery and leave it open. He was been immensely rude and he didn't explain anything except kept telling me how "lazy he is". Left there went to another hospital. They did an ultrasound, found that the absess formed was superficial, poked it and drained it and put me on antibiotics. Now my incision healed perfectly and no more infection.
These "doctors" that just want to rush and cut everyone up, how are they even allowed these procedures at a hospital. Where is the courtesy and proper protocol. Horrible doctor and Experience.

Overall, I had a positive experience giving birth there. The doctors and nurses were competent and friendly. I only found the receptionist and one nurse to be rude and condescending. Parking isn't easy as they are still in the midst of renovations.

The worst hospital over packed nurses are rude and unpleasant especially working in such a sensitive area such as health care would think you would be more caring would of gave 0 stars because of the so called NURSES and DOCTORS

I was in pain when I got to Burnaby hospital. The staff and nurses were very patient and kind with me. The resident doctor was really sweet and attentive.

I would have given it 4.5 if not for this very rude staff that works at the cast clinic. My chart has my name on it but he chose to motion with his fingers to come follow him like he does with a dog. When I did not follow him he went back out and again motioned with his fingers not saying anything. Thinking that my doctor was waiting to look at my incision I followed him. He led me to one of the beds, still not saying a word. He just stood there like a driftwood. I had to tell him, "well, you will have to tell me what to do. Give me some instructions". Finally he said "I want you to hop on the bed".
His silence would have been okay if he were mute but he wasnt. He was just plain ignorant and rude. He needs to be taught not just to do his job but to be exercise courtesy at the very least. Three thumbs down to tgus guy. I hope his superior gets to read this review. Overall the service was very efficient especially at the optomization. The staff there deserve to be acknowledge not just for doing their job but doing it well!

I am so very grateful to not only the attentive and caring ER Nurses but the wonderful caring nurses on the Neuro ward. Thanks to Dr. Jay and my neurologist Dr. V. As for the younger ER docs and ward docs, PATIENT CENTRED CARE! In my 25 years of working in pre-hospital emergency care.the patient knows their bodies best and let go of OPIATE judgement. It is a GP's job to worry about addiction.not an ERPs.

People in Triage and Admitting here lack interpersonal skills. I get it that it sucks to work in an environment like that but nobody likes to deal with poor attitudes, especially when sick or injured. Wait times are very long here. 2 hours in the waiting area before waiting another hour and half to see the doctor. Doctor and nurses are brief. Overall, not a great experience and will go to another hospital whenever I can.

I gave birth here in 2017 and it was the easiest experience ever. Admitting was fast, the birthing suite was new and had a tub, and the after care was top notch.

I had 5 different nurses during my 2 day stay and they were all very accommodating and knowledgeable when it came time for breastfeeding. They all gave me different tips which was nice so I could decide which method I liked best. When they heard baby crying in the middle of the night they came rushing in to help. We were sad to leave. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and wished us luck when we left.

My only complaint was that the shower in my room leaked and so it looked kinda gross. So I just waited till I got home to shower.

I'm having baby number 2 there this summer. So I would still recommend going there.
