Lots of beautiful areas at this park. Nice long trails for walking. Areas of ducks to feed and watch. If you look in some of the big skunk cabbages you might see some little bright green tree frogs.

The section closer to Cariboo dam is a wonderful spot.nice walk and then looking for Salmon/Chum at the dam was very good.

Nature house was closed until further notice in October 2021 still Watching the birds, different types of ducks and geese playing and grooming in water was a lot of fun. Making Birds come and sit on hand to eat was another excitement. We saw First time in life the Super Mario red mushrooms in real at this park.

My favorite place for running or walking.
There is a lot of birds and squirrels and frogs in the lake. Every season is beautiful and I am always taking a lot of pictures of nature and lake and animals.
Always happy to go back.

Excellent park. Although it's not fully accessible by wheelchair to complete a full loop of the lake

Burnaby Lake Regional Park is a wonderful place to spend some time doing the Loop trail which is about 10kms and takes approximately 2 hours. Lots of beautiful scenery along the trails including Piper Spit and the Caribou Dam.

19 July 2021 12:45
Great and easy 10KM trail. Aside from a couple of stairs to get on & off bridges, the trail is stroller-friendly. Went at 7am and there were quite a bit of people.
14 July 2021 13:07
A place to relax and enjoy the breeze from the lake with your family. Kids can enjoy feeding the birds and adults can relax while watching the kids. It's good exercise to walk around the lake.

Starbucks stuff is friendly enough and had only 1bathroom as usual, better then terminal Starbucks that gives no bathroom at all.
23 June 2021 1:49
Beautiful place. Many geese, ducks and herons. Many people and many of them although adults, do no follow Covid 19 prevention guidelines, no masks, no distance.
20 June 2021 14:36
Gets busy on the the North side, lots to look at, however better if you walk on the trails, it is a decent walk all the way around, just keep an eye time as dusk comes quickly in the winter months.

Great park, helpful staff, beautiful nature. Saw wood ducks, greater-billed dowitchers, a brown creeper, and the usual mallards and crows. Bonus garter snake in the parking lot. Very accessible nature walk for everyone.

Great place for kids to explore wildlife like ducks, birds, etc.especially when the weather is nice. I just wish they'll make a little improvement on the trails so it wouldn't be so muddy at times.
24 September 2019 19:37
Went for a walk along the north side of the lake. You don't actually see the lake during the walk with the exception of specified stopping points which was a little disappointing.
11 August 2019 16:07
So peaceful. You get to hand feed the duck's and bird's. Great walk through the park and lovely people all around.

Burnaby Lake is not as picturesque and enjoyable as its neighbour to the south, Deer Lake. If you want a two hour level walk or run, this should do it for you. But as far as scenery or amenities, there is only one bathroom and just a few benches or picnic tables around the loop. The North stretch is along a railway and there is not much to see.

The dock and viewing platform are good for seeing ducks, geese, and herons, but the trail there is often overrun with lazy geese blocking the path. It is a popular spot for birdwatchers and photographers.

Overall, the Burnaby Lake loop is a quiet place for walking with not many people. But the long stretches of bush with no view are a bit disappointing. I intended to find a good spot for photos and turn back, but once I was over half way around the lake before seeing anything interesting, I walked the whole lake. It is really a lot further than I thought. It took me 2 1/4 hours to walk/jog around the lake.

Beautiful park with easy trails and bird watching. However local traffic be it cars or trains passing ruin the ambiance

This place is a hidden gem - a great place to take a long walk with family and friends. Lots of free parking available. The trail around the lake is scenic and includes a few places along the way to view birds and have a picnic. No need to travel far, this local place is amazing!

Amazing place! But can we get the name right? This is not a lake. It is a pond. Same goes for deer lake. They are both ponds.

Allouette lake is a lake, burnaby lake is a pond filled with algae. Ponds fill with algae, lakes are too large to fill with algae and have a current.

Also, a lake you can swim in. I would never swim in this pond.

Very nice place to spend an afternoon. It's easy to get there by public transit. The Sperling Burnaby Lake Skytrain station is right there. It's a big lake. Plan for 3 hours to walk all the way around it. There's a picnic area on the north side of the lake. And there are horse trails. Dogs are welcome on a leash and there's canoeing, as well. Bring your camera!

Nothing short of an oasis and retreat in the middle of the city. I walk the Burnaby Lake loop once or twice per week and each time reveals picturesque scenery and plenty of fresh sweet air.

Very nice and beautiful lake with an awesome scenery! I went for a walk with others during the Christmas season and enjoyed the lighting shows! Awesome place to go for a long walk! I think the loop around the lake is about 1 km.
14 June 2019 17:27
Love the lake loop. Its a flat walk but its gorgeous. It's not very sheltered so if it rains your in it but it's never super crowded. Lots of places to stop and sit. Dog friendly too (on leash) which is nice! Might get a lot of bug bites in the summer evenings so remember bug spray if you are going then!

Love Burnaby lake! Such a great park for a walk with the family, a run, bird watching. You can always spot different birds depending on the time of year. We have seen the Mandarin duck, a beaver Sandhill Crane. Just a beautiful park!

Very impressive sports complex. Very inviting, clean and well-laidout. I wish I had a place like this near our house!

Great place for a flat hike. Will likely see ducks, geese and maybe turtles. Approx 10 km around the lake.
15 May 2019 22:38
Attended a 5k run hosted by Try Events. Beautiful place to walk. The trail around the lake is well groomed and mostly dry. Just be careful in the areas where tree roots grow across the trail. Parking is plentiful and there is a childrens play area adjacent to the playing fields.
13 May 2019 16:57
A vast park, fill of wilderness and wildlife. You could easily spend several days here taking in the sights. Beautiful!
