C-Lovers Fish & Chips

The all you can eat fish and chips are just ok. The fish portions are getting smaller in size and they use the tails of the pollock for the all you can eat. It's the poor service I cannot tolerate any longer.
We were the only 2 people in the restaurant and the waiter is on his phone. I call to him several times but no reply. I've been a customer and resident of 4 years and the service has gone down hill. I will not be returning.

Unfortunately, it was a bad experience. When I ordered food, I was waiting for the ferry. I asked to eat inside the restaurant before my meal finished in the kitchen. He told me no, you asked to take out. When the meal was over, I said to him, “Are you sure I can’t eat it here? ” He told me yes, you can't. I am a restaurant owner. The customer changes his mind several times. This does not change my smile at him. Because the customer is always right in the business world.

After ordering, they kicked the dog out, despite the fact that dogs are prohibited from entering there was not a single sign and no one provided documents for this establishment, the owner of this establishment came out and generally behaved defiantly and incorrectly. I don’t condone this establishment!

They have stupid policies that you can’t eat inside if you order from the window, how do we know if there’s no sign.
Overall, I would not recommend to anyone. It’s a shame because I had heard good things about it, but my experience was far from satisfactory.

Normally wouldn't right a review but the service was not as great as I thought it would be. The head waitress (guessing that because she was giving orders to the other waitresses)
First she served the table next to me that showed up 5-7 after me. Got them drink and gave them a menu. She gave me a menu and put it down on the opposite side from me. Took the order from the table next to me and walked away. I wait 10 mins and she told the much younger girl to come take my order. I asked for a water and had to get up after 10 minutes of waiting and ask for my water (that came with no ice).
Wasn't ask if I need more water until I was done my food and ready to pay.
Second I went to the till to pay for my food and she was standing right there and called to the other waitress to come serve me.
I left no tip as the food was great buy the SERVICE S*CKS. If I could just tip the cooks I would have. They lose out I'm sure Because of the poor service at the front.
Anyways food is good but I recommend going there for take out only.

Always a treat for fish and chips. Basic indoor outdoor seating in the cozy surroundings of horseshoe bay village.
The food is simple, basic and outstanding!
Fresh like no other place I have tried, the lightly battered fish, with cod haddock halibut options,
great if not best ever onion rings, fries hot not greasy tasteful hot and fresh, unlimited supply of a very good tartare sauce on the table plus a good choice of craft beer and wine bu the glass
a super enjoyable dining option.
Add very friendly staff such as the wonderful Cylie (spelling?), can’t get any better than this!

Great place to visit on west coast and definitely my favorite in West Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay).
Halibut and chips were awesome, wonderful taste, fresh, properly salted - everything was just right.
Didn't get the dish with mushrooms, not bad but not as good as fish, good anouth to try.
Parking just outside, 2 hours to eat and even walk around (park at the bay at reconstruction). And almost forgot, they serve ranch sauce and ketchup cooled, additional thanks to that. Ketchup taste didn't click, but ranch was great.

Ordered fish and chips on Apr 24,2023 at 6pm.
The person told me the total was $25.15. I gave her $50 cash bill but she gave me $19.10 change. When I pointed out that is $4.75 short she became defensive, called another person. I didn’t understand the language they were discussing on. Finally gave up and requested my money back and left. Disgusting experience from a disgusting service. I believe the food is not any better…

I came in seeing how quiet the restaurant was. Asked if I could be seated at the booth by the window and was given a stern decline, stating that although it's "not restaurant policy, that it's common courtesy as it's almost dinner time on a Friday" As I was alone, I understand the restaurant business and I respect that.

How it was delivered gave me a very bitter taste in my mouth. The waitresses were quite rude and stern. Then went off in the kitchen area and I can hear their laughter.

The food was decent, hence my two stars. But their customer service is in desperate need of work. I paid for my bill at the front, still ensuring that I am thankful for their service with a smile. The lady who waited my table took my payment but failed to give me any eye contact. Just looked at the front door as she was inputting the total and passing me the machine. Very rude.

C-lovers platter was awesome, the view was splendor, atmosphere and personal were great. Thinking about moving to the bay and marrying the chef.

Absolutely brutal service. Walked in walked out after being a regular customer for years. Staff was extremely rude and disrespectful. Simply asked if 30 minutes sit down was possible. The response was absolutely terrible couldn’t believe it.

The worker barely spoke English, took 25+ minutes to get my food, fish was rubbery and the batter was still wet. Came close to missing my ferry, after waiting 20 minutes I then asked for a refund because the ferry had started loading. The lady laughed when I asked for a refund and after asking multiple times I never got a refund, only soggy disgusting fish and chips… not to mention it was 36$ for a one piece of cod, deep fried pickles, and a 5 Dollar side of coleslaw? !? Steer clear of this place

A lovely place to have fish n chips by the ferry terminal. Freshly cook fish n chips they serves, friendly staff and atmosphere. My friend and I enjoy our meals every time we come and visit this location.

I ordered one piece Haibut. Came with fries and coleslaw. And I ordered a Pepsi. Fries were perfect, coleslaw fresh and not too tangy, halibut was excelent not over battered. Pepsi great, not flat. Excelent meal.

Get your grease fix. Great shrimp and the cod was fine. Fast takeout window and super friendly great staff.

Located in a cozy place by the water. Came in tea time during weekend, wasn't too busy. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered the ultimate platter for two, including halibut s, prawns, onion rings, fries and coleslaw. Food quality was great! Crispy thin batter, served hot. Seats are comfortable, spacious, surrounding by of floor to ceiling windows. Overall was very pleasant dinning experience:)

Can’t go wrong with all you can eat. Though I didn’t get past my first serving! Very yummy. Nice patio seating.

We love this restaurant! Food is awesome and at a great price! It's a fantastic place to visit while you wait for your ferry to come.

Good meal, quick service, but although the owner says the french fries are not frozen, I think he cuts them too small or cooks them too long. Or maybe it's the potato type. Not nearly as good at five guys kennebec french fries.

Very nice owner Ans VERY fair prices! It’s not to see these places in Canada still exist! Great for family and a good quick bite to eat.

My partner and I came all the way from Nanaimo for our first fish and chips in more than 6 months. We used to come often when we lived in West Vancouver. It did not disappoint - every bit as good as we remembered it; perhaps even better. We'll be back soon for the best fish and chips you'll find anywhere, and such great value! What a refreshing change to Trolls! They take out was fantastic, the chips were still crunchy and the fish warm by the time we got home. Not too oily or heavily battered. Definitely coming back

I got fries with a friend of mine and 1. They weren’t fresh, they tasted old and not crispy at all. 2. They came in a weird paper packaging. Please do better, I’ve heard multiple people say the fries are never good here.

Best ever halibut burger and coleslaw. Order of chips is huge. I wont go anywhere else except this place at Horse shoe Bay. Friendly staff and great service. Take out is also great. An awesome eating experience.

The service was great. The all you can eat fish and chips not so. They give you 3 tiny pieces of fish first with tons of fries, no coleslaw. The fish is mostly batter. I think the two piece order is the better option, as you get a good sized larger potion of fish.

Had the platter for two. By far the best deep fried fish and prawn and onion rings I’ve ever had. Light batter, very tasty, perfectly cooked. The onion rings were just crunchy enough so that made them perfect.

Definitely worth every bite. Yummmmmm

(Cod) Fish & Chips and Oyster Burger were awesome! Everything was super crispy and deliciously battered. I really like their signature tartar sauce. The price is also great! If you love fish & chips, you should check out their $16.99 AYCE Fish & Chips (includes bottomless pop). Overall, a great place to enjoy fish & chips by the bay.

First time checking out this restaurant. The female Asian server at the takeout window today (late afternoon) acted like she was too good to be serving customers. I did not leave a tip because she acted like I was putting her to work. LOL The staff were just standing and yapping because there was only 1 dining client.

Unacceptable. This place expects you to pay for tarter sauce. That's right. It comes with none and they want you to pay for it. Who operates a fish and chip place without tarter sauce

If you expect tartar sauce with your fish and chips this is not the place for you. They charge extra for tartar sauce and don't you tell there won't be any with your takeout. Fries are a sad attempt and fish is quite greasy.

I would rate lower if I could. Awful customer service and awful fries and cod. The girl Grace messed up our order and wouldn’t even discuss it with us and argued and there were two of us listening to the phone conversation.

Great service and the food was fast, fresh, and tasty! Good prices to boot…seriously try the halibut burger, it’s under $10

Love going to c-lovers! The staff are so friendly and the food is delicious. If you're ever looking for some good fish and chips, c-lovers is the place to go!

We did take-out because they require a vaccine passport for in-house dining but we ate at the tables that line the road. The service was quick and friendly. The fish and chips were excellent and the portions are large. The only down side was the tartar sauce came in those inconvenient little packs but it was take out.

Located up a block from the shore of Horseshoe Bay. Good quality fish and chips. Deep fried fresh. We ordered the takeout special and it was a great deal. Lots of fish and lots of chips. The coleslaw is pretty small though. Added a side of fried shrimp which came with some cocktail sauce. Very tasty. The gravy was very good as well. Plenty of food for our family of four. Almost two meals worth.

Customer service was really nice. The price was really nice. And unlimited drink was a really nice touch. But the fish was so oily. I had the all you can eat option but you really can’t eat more than one serving because of how oily and flavorless the fish was.

Pretty rude waitress today, will be getting takeout from now on! Never came around asking if we want refills, was moody and off hand towards us when we walked in and not polite at all

This restaurant is not the best.don't get ripped off by ordering the onion ring! 4 pieces for $ 4.coleslaw is tasteless.the fries are disappointing

No idea of the food quality, the service was horrible.

We were looking for something quick after getting in off a water taxi.it was 7: 00pm or so on a Sunday. I would not describe the place as busy, hopefully average. (less than 1/2 full, 90% of the guests seemed to have their food already.) We came in and were seated (a bit slowly, but not more than a 5 minute wait to be seated.) but they didn't even bring us menus before they were off again. A customer was attempting to get the waitress' attention in order to cancel their remaining order, and we apparently should've taken that as a sign.

We waited at least about 5 minutes in hopes of menus (or any attention really, we knew what we wanted to order by looking online beforehand) when some other guests were brought in, and given menus right away. Waited another 5, after the waitress came and took the other couple's order without even acknowledging us we got up and left.

The absolute worst service at this location! I have been a loyal customer to the Coquitlam store for over 35 years. The wife and I were in town and had to eat at the place that we knew had the best fish and chips. We arrived at 530pm. We were given menus. The guy beside had asked for his bill at this time. We waited another 20 minutes and not a single person came to take our drink order. The server (a young blonde) had her back to everyone and was chatting the kitchen staff up. We left and they guy was still waiting for his bill! I really hope Mason and Company see this. This is nothing like the Coquitlam restaurant where service is prompt.

Also, before any staff pipe up to this review saying they had 2 servers working, sure, but the inside was empty of customers. Shame on you. I've seen 1 staff in Coq and NVan run the whole show by themselves.

If you want fish and chips this place is okay. The fish is decent but smaller so all you can eat may be a good idea if you're hungry. I didn't love the fries and really disliked the coleslaw. They do have really great prices for young kids all you can eat.

Store wouldn't answer phone, despite being open. Called 18 times and watched staff ignore the phone from outside. Not great, I get being busy, but ignoring customers is unacceptable.

Probably the worst fish and chips I’ve had in Vancouver. Poor fries, no salt or vinegar, none even provided despite asking. Fish was greasy AF. Not one for bad reviews but was pretty offended by the price they charged. $20 for 2 small cod fillets and bad fries. Server was rude AF too, do yourself a favour and go to trolls opposite.

I ordered at the take out window. Food was fresh and delicious! I had the cod and chips and took it to go to eat my the water. Friendly service. Would definitely come back again.

Best fish and chips in town. 14.99 for all you can eat. 2 bucks more gets you a beer too. Fish is moist, and batter is crispy. I always go back. Nice balcony and plenty of free parking.

It is sad that during our visit, we (people of color) experienced different treatment than others (non-people of color). Everyone else was pleasantly greeted and talked to in a friendly manner. We, on the other hand, got the dry, monotone treatment.

Outside of that, the quality was terrible. PLUS we found bugs (that had clearly been sitting for a while) in our condiments and asked for some sort of comp to our food. This didn’t happen. We didn’t even receive an apology!

I like fish and chips. I like ginger ale. The fish and chips were scrumptious. We go there all the time but the first time when I went there I didn’t like it. But then I started to like it because my taste buds changed. The favourite thing on the menu was the fish and chips!

This place actually sells the best fish and chips in the entire world. The service was very friendly and the only thing I would change is making the serving sizes a bit bigger

Customer Service was great server was awesome at take out window. We order the family takeout special for 4 fish fries salad and pop and took it down to park at horseshoe bay for picnic portion size, quality of food and price was really good no complaints.well definitely go back 5stars

I got the breaded salmon and it was delicious! Good portions for the price. If we had more time, we probably would've done the all you can eat deal. Waitress was a bit slow but they were also busy!

Very nice be on the fish and chips are really good to eat staff is great with the fish and chips and we're not as good as the Rocky Mountain House in Renfrew for Ontario but it was darn close.

Our food was delicious and when my friends asked for more fish they brought a few more pieces than they asked for. Awesome. The waitress was so friendly and provided great service. Also the location is great. Once you're done eating all the fish you want roll yourself out the door and enjoy the fantastic waterfront views.

This location is a special place where my late Mom loved to go to with our Dad. The staff are friendly the food is served when hot and tasty! Very warm, inviting clean restaurant.

Excellent fish and fries! (I had the Haddock) The fries are just the right balance between moist and crispy. The Coleslaw, unfortunately, is horrible. It's runny and overpowered by onions. (I know it's only the coleslaw, but they should have that down, being a chipper!)

Had their AYCE fish and chips for 15$. They use Pollock for their ayce. Their fish were nicely battered and crispy. Their chips were okay. Their tartar sauce was subpar as the taste and texture was closer to ranch dressing.

Indiana was very helpful and quick on the trigger to help with our two year old! Cant say how good that was of her! All you can eat fish n chips is the best way to go, cause once you start eating this delicious fish n chips, you wont want to stop! Stop by and enjoy this classic plate! Cheers!

Always great! You can count on quality, they always deliver. And the halibut is sooo good, not the thin sliver some places offer. Great, friendly attentive staff top off the experience. No question, have the halibut meal!

Waitresses are always very pleasant and chipper, can occasionally be a little slow but on average are great. Food is always good, never over or undercooked, always on the ball.

One of my favorite place for fish and chips in Horseshoe Bay! It is good value for the money and you get a lot of chips with your meal. I like to get an order to go for boarding the ferry.

I have been here several times as I live very close. The food and chefs are great. The staff, not so much. We got a warning because I didn't want soft drink that comes with all you can eat so I gave to my brother when we're spending $70 meal and warned us he (Asian owner) will charge us $2 next time. (ummm ok?) We didn't even have a refill. Haven't been there since.

Awesome place to go to while my car was charging. Got plenty of menu items to choose from at the right price.

Only thing to suggest, please do something about that afternoon sun. It hits the building from the entrance and it gets really hot.

July 23,2018 The all you can eat fish n chips are still very good, but it's too bad they couldn't of given me a little bit of coleslaw on the side, because i always got some coleslaw on the side at C - Lovers on Denim street in Vancouver when i ordered the all you can eat fish n chips a few years ago. I also noticed that the one oyster i ordered to go with my dinner was VERY small for the price we had to pay.not like the bigger ones we got when we ate here last year. It's too bad.

The food we ate was good but they are much too crowded. It's as though they are trying to squeeze in everyone they can to make every dime they can and leaving out any atmosphere. AND they were out, OUT of oysters. Can you imagine a sea food place running out of oysters. And we traveled from Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay to specifically eat there. Disappointed!
