Campbell River Whale Watching and Adventure Tours

Overcast skies & wisps of clouds hanging low on the Mt slopes were the perfect backdrop to watch pods of Dall’s porpoises play in the boat wake, glimpse harbour porpoises, view a sea lion colony, spot bald eagles & see grizzlies fish for salmon (7!). Humbling and wonderful to see mammals & birds in their natural habitat doing what they do. Plus learn about the medicine of the land. Bravo to our Capt Bex & out Homolco guides Stewert & Jared. An absolutely spectacular day.

Our guide Bex was very knowledgeable about the area and its history, friendly, and gave us a great summary of where we'd been and what we'd seen at the end. We had several unbelievable encounters with playful pods of porpoises. The scenery on route was also incredible. It was the best day. Thank you Bex!

Incredible tour! Alex and Tyler took great care of us, operated the vessel under tough conditions with expertise, had vast knowledge to share, and were super friendly. I was impressed with the way the operators share their sightings, and the skill they showed in locating wildlife, and projecting where it might be found. We saw dolphins, grizzlies and Orcas. An incredible day! Also, the boat was comfortable, and lunch was delicious.

Our tour guide & pilot Quin was AWESOME! He was passionate about wildlife & beauty preservation sharing amazing knowledge. Quin showed us breath-taking, beautiful views & wonderful wildlife including: Orcas, Humpbacks, seals, hundreds of Eagles & Blue Heron. We had such a fun time on the most fabulous whale watching tour we've ever been on.:)

I had three truly amazing trips; Bute Inlet with Alex and Steve, 6 hour Zodiac tour with Nova and the 4 hour whale tour with Quinn. The guides on each trip were fantastic people who were extremely passionate about their jobs and even more passionate about the wonderful world of wildlife around them.
I was fortunate enough to see several Orcas and Humpbacks, including a mother with its calf on each trip. There were plenty of Bears to see and the Homalco guys were great. It's fair to say that Stellar Sea Lions are very noisy but in a good way). I was also treated to a few tail flips by the Humpbacks which was very high on my wish list.
All of my goals were achieved and, in many cases exceeded. The Campbell River team have been very supportive ever since I first contacted them several months ago to arrange the trips. Thanks to them, I have been able to tick several things off from my life ambition bucket list and I cannot praise or thank them highly enough

Terrific experience! We saw several whales, breaching! We also saw sea lions, seals, and porpoises, along with the most beautiful scenery along the Sunshine Coast, Discovery Islands, and the east coast of Van Island.
If possible, ask to be on Lara's boat- she is a passionate and informative captain, we enjoyed her love of the ocean.

We had a great 8-hour wildlife trip. One of the best trips we have done so far. We saw black bears and a cub, humpback whales, dall's porpoises, sea lions, seals and sea eagles. Add to that the beautiful nature, the "pleasant" smell of whale breath (; and a very tasty lunch on the deck in a beautiful bay while watching a black bear.
Many thanks to Tyler W, our guide and captain, who provided us with lots of interesting information and navigated us with his know-how to great places for wildlife viewing. We had great fun and would go on a tour with him again in a heartbeat!

We had a once in a lifetime experience. We saw dolphins, humpbacks, sea lions, and yes orcas! Even the locals have told us that our experience was rare. We owe it all to Campbell River Whale Watching Adventure!

Once in a lifetime tour. Scenery to and from the destination was spectacular, the Grizzly Tour was above and beyond my expectation and the staff was exceptional. Incredible tour; highly recommend.

Whaling watching today was a fantastic experience, our guide Zoey was super knowledgeable and passionate for the whales. Saw 2 species of Orca’s and some humpback whales, only recommendation for future visitors is to bring binoculars, there are important regulations in place for how close the boats can get to the whales and is not a close up experience as advertised, distances range from a 100 metres minimum up to 200 metres and more, binoculars would have helped to see detailed parts of the beautiful whales. Non the less it was a beautiful day on the water and views are amazing

Amazing day Whale Watching! Pod of 8 Orcas which we hung with for an hour, a few breaches. Then saw about 10 Humpbacks, circled the boat and a double breach. Alex and Kaitlin were awesome and so knowledgeable and excited. To top it off the weather was perfect. Highly recommend.

Robin and his team were great at communicating and work hard to help us get in the water early in the season. We lucked out with crystal clear day and some amazing animal encounters

Robin was super accommodating for us - when we called up, we didn't have any firm plans yet and were looking for somewhere to go whale watching -> but no one else was going out the days we were looking at. Robin took our number and called us once they had other people interested/were able to make a go of the trip out, which allowed us to do other things with our weekend and still sneak in a whale watching experience.

We had a great day! Robin was super friendly and knowledgeable and easy to talk to and hang out with. We really enjoyed learning all about the discovery islands and their history.

The lunch provided was delicious and the whole experience was just A+ - will definitely be back!

Yet another amazing trip with Campbell River Whale Watching & Adventure Tours. This was our 4th or 5th time with them and Robin was outstanding. We had a great time searching for wildlife on the way to and from the Homalco First Nations territory at the Orford Estuary in Bute Inlet. We were so very fortunate to see humpback whales, hundreds of sea lions and several awesome Grizzly Bears too! The lunch & snacks provided were also fabulous! Much better than could have been expected. We will be back again next year! Thank you!

I had an amazing time learning with Marine Education Research Society (MERS) and Cambell River Whale Watching. It's hard to imagine a better tour. I'm so grateful for the knowledge of the guides and that we were successful in sighting Orcas and Humpbacks Highly recommend.

Great Trip. Our Guide Robin showed us Orcas just one minute from the harbour. We were pretty lucky! We saw some humpback whales and sea lions as well. Great Tour!

It’s hard to imagine a better tour than what we had. We feel we were very lucky to see as many Orcas and humpbacks as we did. And Robin was very knowledgeable and accommodating captain/host.

The tour was great! We saw orcas, humpack whales, see lions and seals. Our tour guide, Robin tould us really interesting facts about the animals and the law at the ocean. I would recommend to do this tour.

Amazing bear watching trip with Hamalco First Nations guide. Definitely, Definitely would go again. Saw 12 Grizzlys catching salmon. Female with 3 cubs, and another with 1 cub, plus an adolescent male, all watched from 1 viewing platform, without the need to move. Wonderful knowledge and experience.

My garden Club friends From Phoenix, over 80 yrs old, had the BEST BEST BEST TIME.

I purposefully made sure they were on the zodiac! And the loving care and attention, to them, and the knowledge of the guide was sooo special! We even spent extra time and she made sure we saw the Dolphins, orcas, and Humpbacks, then, spectacularly, the Dolphins, close-up, on the way home. We were floating, no motor, and they swam right by us… giving us the most spectacular show.

We had a fantastic grizzly bear watching tour, helped by flawless weather and flat calm waters. We saw humpback whales, a huge pod of Pacific white-sided dolphins and we had fantastic views of grizzly bears, including a mother and cub and one lone bear quite close up. Huge thanks to Robin our guide and captain, who was very knowledgeable, looked after us all very well and was very respectful of the wildlife (as were all the guides). I was very impressed that this company has made a big effort to become carbon neutral, another good reason to support them. Just a magical day and a real highlight of our holiday!

Mon Oct 3 and Tues Oct 4 we went on bear and whale watch tours with Campbell River. Both days weather was great and our guides were fantastic! On the bear watch tour, we saw 2 males, 1 female and 1 cub fishing for salmon near the overlooks. As a bonus, just before we started back to dock a large black bear ran full length of logging road bridge before diving in a thicket!
Also saw Orcas on return trip to town, with one huge Orca surprising us all by surfacing right beside our boat.
The whale watch was also great, with many humpback sightings and many dives with flukes high in the air.
Everything about this company is top notch-professional, courteous and most importantly, very eco-conscious.

Excellent experience with Campbell River whale watching. I did the grizzly bear bute Inlet tour with Captain John and Zoe and they were both amazing guides. The tour itself is all day, the morning gets chilly with a 2.5 hr boat ride to the inlet, but there is an indoor cabin if you get cold. You eat lunch at orford bay and then 1st nation guides take you to see the bears. Got to see 5 adults and 4 cubs! Definitely recommend it, try to bring a good zoom camera and binoculars!

An amazing adventure where we saw two different kinds of whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, eagles and of course grizzly bears. A first class outfit, very professional. Would recommend them without hesitation.

We had an unforgettable experience watching orcas thanks to Jack and Tristan! Lovely people who taught us a lot about orcas, whales and the islands that we saw from our vessel. Thank you very much, we will never forget it!

Covered boat was great. Warm as toast. Captain Red Beard (Andrew) was great. Challenging conditions due to the weather but safe and secure. He knows how to smooth out the rough waters. Saw Black bears, sea lions and a hoard of dolphins. Was very accommodating of photographers and sightseers alike.

I would give them 10 stars if I could. We booked the 4 hr zodiac tour in mid-September and saw humpback whales, sea lions, dolphins, and porpoises. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. I’d imagine every experience is unique and enjoyable to travel alone or with a friend/group.

Wonderful trip. Very well organized and run. Comfortable boat, lots of information and the grizzly bears were amazing to see so close yet safely.

Great experience. Two great guides that made us feel safe at all times. A life time experience and one I will never forget. Great day out. Got a history tour of the area that we travelled through by our skipper, Peter how fed and watered us too. Great job. Would do the trip again.

We booked onto the Whale & Wildlife Tour (second weekend of September) on the Zodiac vessel and it was great! Saw Humpback Whales (3 times during the 4 hour tour), Sea lions, Seals and a pod of Porpoises. The guides are super knowledgable - would highly recommend.

At first, I was a little hesitant about going on a whale watching tour. I thought I may not get to see much if anything. Boy was I ever wrong! We took the zodiac tour. We go to the same places as the covered boat but get a bumpier ride (which I really enjoyed). We rode up a bit and stopped to see a huge pod (200 individuals) of dolphins. We then went to see sea lions, eagles and seals and finished the tour with a couple of humpback whales. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Robin, our guide was very knowledgeable âne made us feel comfortable and safe. Worth every penny. You will regret missing out.

We found the whale watch and grizzly bear watch to to be beautifully orchestrated rated we saw 6 humpback whales one grizzly bear and a few other species of animals the guide was amazing His name was Robin very knowledgeable very pleasant helped all aboard the boat I did the boat packed up a nice little lunch to the picnic area and was with us every step of the way of the way also made sure that we knew which islands we were passing with the population wasAnd any other Inquiries we had We would recommend this toward any other people that would like to go out good job Darlene

What a great day. Our family filled the boat 11 of us. Our guide Laura was truly amazing, she read the kids and knew what they would like. We saw Orca's, seal, sea lions, humpbacks and porpoises, rode some rapids - what an amazing afternoon. We had all done whale watching before and all agreed this was the best.

4 hours on a Zodiac, observing Marine life in one of the most sought after area was my objective. Last week on a sunny day my dream came true. The ocean was alive with Humpback Whales, Sea-Lions, Seals, Porpoises and diverse Sea- and shorebird activities. Tayler did a fantastic job, explaining behavior of all sea life what came into sight. He was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and approachable. Don't look any further if you plan an Ocean adventure like I did.

We had a great 6-hour marine safari on August 19th 2021. Friendly service all round and impressed with our guide and driver, Robin. Humpback whales, orca, feeding sea lions and wonderful scenery.

We went on the Ocean Rapids tour. It was just incredible! Our guide was experienced and knowledgeable. I had been on a whale watching tour to the same area a few years ago and it was fascinating to see the same area on a flood tide. It was exhilarating to zip around in the zodiac in the rushing water and the drops we did at the end were just thrilling! I really can’t say enough about what a fun experience this was, a highlight of our summer!

This was a wonderful experience! We saw some Orcas, some hump back whales, some sea lions, and a multitude of birds. Our guide, Robin (aka Batman), was wonderful. He was very pleasant an professional. Robin was a fountain of information about whales and other marine life. He also had a lot of information about Campbell River. The boat was safe and in good condition, and our trusty Batman was a more than capable driver. I would recommend this tour and this company to anyone who is looking for a truly outstanding marine excursion!

The 6 hour whale watching tour was simply amazing! We saw humpbacks, killer whales, dolphins and much more. Our guide Laurel was so knowledgeable and friendly and made the tour a real treat. Best day ever!

Amazing day on the water with Peter! We were a large group and they were so accommodating. 2 humpback whales and so many orcas, seal lion and a bear!

We had a wonderful trip. We been very lucky to see two types of whales. Our guide Robin was very knowledgeable and professional.

We enjoyed a beautiful day, watching humpback whales, sea lions, seals, a big old black bear and of course several grizzlies, wonderful tour, wonderful guides Tyler and Quin, 10 out of 10

When we arrived, we were greeted with pleasant staff.
Our knowledgeable guide Quinn, was familiar with the area. He also gave us some information we were not aware of. Example, Stellar sea lions.
Quinn found 3 sets of humpback whales. Lots of fluke slapping. We then went to the rapids where we saw the eagles, sea lions and seals.
All in all, great trip.

Excellent experience for whale watching on the zodiac. We truly enjoyed it and had lots of fun. The only one thing we stayed too long watch Aukra whales in one spot while we could have sailed more to the north. In general it’s for sure worth the try and have the experience in your bucket list.

Thank you captain Robin! We enjoyed a fabulous ocean rapids experience and the bonus orca sightings were a gift.

I had the pleasure of getting to go on a tour with campbell river whale watching and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life! We saw tons of humpbacks, seals, stellar sea lions, eagles and fish jumping everywhere. Our guide Laurel was very professional and she could drive a boat like nobody's business! She knew tons about the smaller Islands and channels we explored through. It was great learning about this rugged area of BC. We had some seriously choppy water and it made our trip so much more fun than I could've ever imagined. If you are looking for an amazing wildlife tour I highly recommend you book with CRWW. I would love to go on one of their grizzly bear tours!

We had a great afternoon with Tyler our guide. He was able to find Orcas, Pacific white sided dolphins, sea lions, 2 porpoises and nesting Cormorant birds. We experienced the tide changing in the late afternoon. He is very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. Thanks for an amazing day!

I have signed up for all the zodiac "adventure tours" in Campbell River and these guys are best by FAR! When they advertise a rapid tour, they provide a rapid tour. The others will advertise but they always turn out to be another whale watching.
The "captain" of our ship was extremely knowledgable and well spoken as he toured us around and shared what he knew. The team was welcoming, personable, and overall amazing. I'm going back again this summer. Thanks so much for providing such a professional service.

Quinn did an amazing job of touring our group of International Students. He expertly educated us all on the area, the sea life and ecological issues which impact the area. We were treated to multiple humpback whale sightings, playful dolphins who came to check out our boats wake, and some comical and noisy sea lions. We had a great day with Bradden at Campbell River Whale Watching. We saw humpback whales, porpoises, sea lions, seals, bald eagles and other wildlife. Bradden was very informative about the various landmarks we passed and about the habits of the wildlife we observed. The boat ride was very smooth and the dry suits we were given were very comfortable. It was also reassuring to know they were thoroughly cleaned and disinfected each day after use which is important at this point in time. We highly recommend Campbell River Whale Watching Tours for a fun and informative day out, and Bradden for his friendly and laid back but professional service.

David is the BEST! We all had a great time going through the rapids, touring around Quadra & Sonora Islands. Scenery was breathtaking and even though we were late in the season still managed to see humpbacks, steller sea lions & porpoises.

We enjoyed a fabulous day with beautiful weather and a very knowledgeable captain Steve. I would highly recommend this trip.

I joined CRWW for a grizzly bear tour and 2 days later am still in awe of the experience. I was so grateful for the small tour size, covid precautions and that the Klahoose First Nations, which they are partnered with, proceed with the utmost respect for the bears. It felt like we were transported to another world. I cannot recommend this adventure enough!
