We have used Canadian Care over the past dozen or so years and they had been great. We always requested the same technician (Sam G.) as he knew us, knew our products, was skilled and knowledgeable at his trade, polite, and showed up on time. However, in recent years the service has really gone downhill. We recently (2 years ago) had our hot water tank replaced by Canadian Care Heating. Due to our basement being recently renovated, the framing contractors that framed the new space didn't leave quite enough room for the newer tanks as apparently they are larger. So Canadian Care recommended that we go with a tankless system as it would take up less space and be more energy efficient.

When they came to do the installation they realized that due to the reframing design from the reno, the new hot water tank location did not have an adjacent floor drain (this wasn't their fault, more the renovators poor planning, but this oversight should have been picked up by Canadian Care during the first site visit when they were quoting). So, to address this floor drain issue, the installer put an electric pump in that space so the residual water that was discharged from the tankless system could drain and the pump would pump the water away. Then it was realized that there was nowhere the pump could pump water to with no adjacent drain? Ugg. So, they connected a clear piece of tubing to the pump and routed it through the ceiling (cutting a hole in our drywall ceiling and not repairing it I might add) and ran the tubing through the joist space and through the outside wall, routing the drain tube into the rain gutter. That worked ok until the following winter when the line froze and the pump couldn't pump, resulting in our kitchen being flooded.

We reached out to Canadian Care to explain our problem and request a service call to remedy the issue. I spoke to John (the dispatcher of sorts) who was nice on the phone but seemed stressed with multiple issues and not enough qualified staff to deal with them. We tried to schedule a worker to come and re-route the hose to an interior drain location, but they never showed up and no calls. We were not expecting any "free service" and were completely willing to pay for whatever needed to be done. So, we continued to call John to try to book another appointment and we finally got one. However, again they didn't show up or even call. I believe these no-shows are a result of the fact that this company has recently started to hire subcontractors to do their work instead of the trusted employees they had do the work in the past (when we too were satisfied customers). I should have just quit at that point. When our second appointment was a no-show I called John and he apologized, but I didn't want an apology, I wanted a service worker to show up! I had already taken 2 days off work for these missed appointments which was very frustrating. I did feel bad for John because it probably wasn't his fault. I finally got to the point where I was getting tired of the excuses and I just needed this completed. So I reached out to another company and had the work promptly completed without any hassle. I would not recommend Canadian Care. They talk a good game, but the execution with their subcontractors is horrible. Perhaps they can go back in time to when they had satisfied customers and revert back to that business model.

Very quick service to replace furnace during cold weather. Technician (Sam) friendly and knowledgeable, installers polite and pleasant. Also took care of registering warranties. Follow up after install good as well

CCH&C did a great job when they replaced our furnace. We were really pleased with the service. When we replaced our thermostat with a digital one ourselves weeks later, we phoned Sam with questions. Not only did he help us the first time, he was super friendly and didn't make us feel like we were bugging him. Thanks, Canadian Care, and thanks, Sam.

Sam came to our house to perform a quick repair on our gas fireplace. He did an excellent job and provided us with valuable information about heating and air conditioning.

We recently had not so great experience with Canadian Care and there are quite a few reasons why it didn’t go well.

So we had a technician come for regular furnace tuning and he pointed out few major issues with furnace installations which needed some attention. We were quick to book appointment for the changes to address safety concerns and the problem starts from there.

1. The technician who came for tuning was not from Canadian care and may be a sub contractor which they may be leveraging for additional business. The problem is the communication and quality goes down drastically and its all about 15 mins making some quick bucks and moving to the next site which was again my another property. My experience with sub contractors is not great as they usually don’t care about the brand or commitment which the company may have made to the customer.

2. We called John who seems to be professional but totally overwhelmed on how to manage this teams or subcontractors. As he tried to book an appointment for us couple of times however the subcontractors dodged him or may be us couple of times which is again going back to my previous statement quite unprofessional when you charge and commit much more then competitors for the service.

3. We were provided with a verbal quote on the charges for the job and it was assumed that the points raised by the first technician would be addressed. But you bet it’s pretty much no communication between any and every one within this company. So I called John on what was raised by technician then he called the project co- ordinator who would then call the sub contractor who was suppose to fix the issue but not willing to as he had another job lined up and he was getting late and didn’t care much what Canadian care folks had to say on the phone.

4. The technician who came to fix the furnace came with pretty much no preparation. After almost 5-10 mins in the job he realized that some parts are not with him in the van and had to leave for around 30 mins to find them from nearest store which shows again how the communication happens within the team/ project to handle the job so I can’t totally blame the sub contractor who might not have complete requirement from the Office.

5. As the contractor was getting late for his next job and was missing a electrical cable which needed replacement, he was like I can come tom.to replace that cable but ai can’t spend anymore time at this site as I have to run to my next site.

6. Last but not least is basic courtesy from the technician which was missing during the furnace tuning visit. He might me under the influence of weather or not sure Covid as he was continuously coughing for the time he was at my place which made me uncomfortable as there are small kids around and a $. 05 mask would have done the trick if you can’t take a day off due to work load.

Overall I don’t see any reason for calling Canadian care back next year for any furnace jobs as there quality has deteriorated drastically and it seems more of a lead generation company for different sub contractors then an actual company.

From start to finish, we were very happy with our experience at Canadian Care Heating and Cooling Company. The answering service team members Duncan and John were very kind, professional and patient in answering my questions, connecting me with a technician and they also helped me with rebate forms. They sent over technician Sam to our home to diagnose a problem with our wet/leaky floors. We previously hired a plumbing company due to concerns over potential slab leaks or other plumbing issues. However, the plumbing company misdiagnosed the problem because our floors kept on leaking despite their claim of “resolved the issue”. Anyway, I finally called Canadian Care Heating Company for a second opinion. Sam the technician came in our home on time on agreed ETA. He instantly knows what the problem was and how to fix it. He accurately diagnosed the problem unlike the other company. Our old boiler was broken beyond repair and he recommended replacing our old conventional boiler to a combi-boiler to save money on heating bills, increase efficiency and space in our home. The combi-boiler costs and installation package were very expensive but Sam was very kind and considerate in offering us financial arrangements. The contractors that Sam have sent over to install the combi-boiler were very courteous and experienced and they even stayed up until midnight just to finish installing the combi-boiler in one day! Sam came over the next day to inspect the job done and adjusted the combi-boiler settings. Our floors immediately stopped leaking as soon as our combi-boiler was up and running, which Sam had predicted before. Thank you Sam for your friendliness, professionalism, knowledge, experience and expertise in diagnosing and solving our problem! I highly recommend this company.

They've installed our furnace and boiler, kudos to Sam for always being there when we call him!
19 February 2023 13:51
So just as the weather became frigid cold, our old gas fireplace broke and needed replacement parts. Sam communicated when he would arrive, what needed fixing, when spare parts arrived and what work he'd do for us. He completed the job by visiting twice within 2 weeks. The $1850 plus charge in new parts and installation cost more than we expected. However, Sam's work was done safely, efficiently, skillfully and without too much fuss but you'll have to endure lots of upselling during the job. Upselling for a digital thermostat or extras - no thanks. Sam is friendly and professional, but the upselling is relentless.

Very unprofessional company, did not show up on multiple occasions. I had to call them after our scheduled time and they told me everytime that they will no longer be able to arrive at the scheduled day and time and that we will need to reschedule. Multiple people took time off work to ensure they could have access to the house and basement suites. They had a different excuse everytime they were unable to make they're promised schedule day and time. Even after confirming the day prior they would still not show up. Very bad communication on their part. I would not recommend this company. They're are multiple companies that do the same work for a similar or cheaper price.

Sam was kind, understanding and straight forward with regards to his concerns for my 10 year old furnace and the repairs or new furnace needed.
28 December 2022 6:09
We lost heating in our house and called canadian care late at night. They got someone sent to us first thing in the morning on a Saturday for a repair. The tech figured out the problem and got our heat working until he could return later that afternoon to fix our wiring. We were extremely happy with the professionalism and knowledge from the team. Thank you so much!
22 December 2022 21:53
Sam was really helpful and fixed our fire place in the most magical way. He made impossible possible. A very professional man.
06 December 2022 11:43
Thank you very much Sam and team! A real pleasure having your company install our new furnace. And thank you for your help with the rebate forms. Rebates are now on the way.
05 December 2022 15:26
When in need of HVAC services call these guys! Our furnace stopped working with no warning, while temperatures are below zero. We called Canadian Care and they had the best guy on the job out to us within 12 hours. Turns out our thermostat wiring needed to be replaced and they were able to get it done at a great price!
Big thank you to the team at Canadian Care Heating & Cooling
03 November 2022 20:06
Fred was very responsive and polite. He did the job perfectly and he was very honest in explaining the issue. I recommend him strongly and I will do the same for all my friends and kids.
02 November 2022 16:55
We have had such a wonderful service! Sam has been professional and personable every year he has come to inspect our furnace. Highly, highly recommend.
29 March 2022 2:03
I had Sam from Canadian Care come out to fix my gas stove style fireplace. It’s an older model but he was able to change out some fairly major parts, thermo-coupling & starter switch & make it run like new. I recommend this business as being very reliable & fair value for the costs of their services.
03 March 2022 17:19
We have used Canadian Care for about 5 years and over that time we have moved and needed to their services at both our former residence and new one. Sam is the technician that first served us and we always ask for him. He's the BEST! Last year when he came to review our furnace and hot water tank he soon realized that they needed to be replaced. Sam made a recommendation for a tankless water heater and an energy efficient furnace. We couldn't be happier with his recommendations.

Last week we had Sam come back for our annual furnace inspection. We also had 2 gas fireplaces that were installed a number of years ago that haven't worked since we moved in. Sam cleaned them all up and got them both fired up and working perfectly in less than 30 minutes! He's amazing! A BIG thank you to Sam and Canadian Care for the great service!
20 February 2022 4:45
1 thing that I don't like is: the technician asking me go to my home to get the note from Fortis BC, he did not give me a chance to see the gas leaking test, I don't know what happening, later on he did 3 replacements and changed me with the bill over one thousand dollars
20 January 2022 22:57
I used this company for a simple maintenance routine check of my boiler. I don’t know anything about this company but Sam, the technician was there on time and did the inspection in a timely manner. Thanks
19 January 2022 3:08
Our furnaces (we have 2) both went haywire yesterday, resulting in an interior heat wave in November!
I got in contact with Sam, who was here on Monday morning, and fixed
everything. The culprits were the thermostats which both decided to die together. He even fixed my stove gas burner in 30 seconds as he was leaving! He really knows his stuff, gives great advice on how to get good value and save money. I would highly recommend him.
11 January 2022 9:07
I’m very happy with the service that Sam gave us in fixing our broken furnace. He came early which actually worked well for me, and he explained things clearly, giving me my options. Even though I chose not to get a new furnace as he recommended, he was polite and understanding, and promptly fixed the furnace with the parts he already had with him.
08 November 2021 22:46
I don't quite know where to start with this review. My initial experience with this company was very positive, but as time went on, things got so bad that we ended up with no hot water for three months.

August 2020 - Without confirming the date of installation, they worked on my neighbour's furnace and dumped the pallets with my new units in my driveway; they just happened to catch me outside to inform me they were coming the next day.

I am immunocompromised and my parents are seniors. Because of the pandemic, we asked for them to wear masks in the house. At their request, we also opened all the windows and doors, and placed fans for additional airflow.

All the workers that arrived took their masks off multiple times, walked out of the furnace room without masks, and asked for access to other parts of the house without explaining why. They then reaccessed those areas without my knowledge later on. Already ill, I had to air out and disinfect all the areas.

They also drilled additional holes in the exterior walls upstairs, and left a hole in the drywall when removing the furnace. They offered to patch it, but it would mean more exposure and cleaning.

Sam mentioned the hole in the drywall was my responsibility and my common-law boyfriend gave them permission anyways. I felt pressure to pay upfront in cash (the cheques were all post-dated) when I hadn't been communicated to at all.

Soon after, our water heater started spitting out an error code. It was for the heater failing its ignition process, and therefore our water would turn ice cold during use. I also was missing the rebate forms.

A few days later, Sam drilled some holes to let the air out in the condensation drain pipe. The issue was not fixed.

Sept 2020 - I emailed Sam again with an update, but didn't get a reply. He had also not brought the rebate forms during the last visit.

Sam returned and drilled bigger holes in the condensation drain pipe. The issue was still not fixed.

I was called by Duncan next. He told me that if I have any issues to directly call him instead and he will arrange the appointments.

Oct 2020 - Duncan arranged for a technician to come. Not only was the technician late, but he did a fix not similar to what Sam described. It made the problem worse. The error code began going off non stop.

Next appointment, no one showed. After 4-5 hours of waiting, I called Duncan. He told me that the technician called and I didn't answer so they didn't come. I didn't receive a call at all! Duncan calls back later and says that a technician from the water heater manufacturer was supposed to show up and it was them that didn't come, an entirely different story than he initially claimed.

Then for some reason, Canadian Care contacted my parents for a new appointment and not me. Despite a really important interview happening that day, we accomodated. No one arrived, and after this, we were not contacted for almost a month.

Nov 2020 - When contacted, it was Nikki (the only friendly one) inquiring about the final payment on behalf of Sam/Duncan.

We ended up contacting the water heater manufacturer directly. They did not have knowledge of Canadian Care contacting them at all. Not only did the manufacturer say that Canadian Care was not licensed to install their product, but they recommended to us a different company to assess our water heater. Said other company fixed a ton of parts not to code, found out we were missing the wifi module from our unit (it had not even been given to us!) and got the manufacturer to give us a new unit, as the incorrect installation had damaged the water heater beyond repair.

TLDR: Canadian Care did a good job with the installation of the furnace. However, the lack of communication and the general attitude I experienced was stressful and and unprofessional and made me uncomfortable paying them. Worst of all though, their improper installation of the water heater and subsequent "help" left us with cold water for THREE MONTHS before we stopped calling them and looked elsewhere.

I have been using Canadian Care Heating & Cooling for several years. Most recently I had them repair my hot water tank which refused to function this morning. The service engineer showed up on time and was able to repair the pilot light which was malfunctioning. Overall I’m very impressed with their quality of work, good value for money and professionalism. I highly recommend their services. I also used Canadian Care to change my radiant heating boiler 2 years ago and was very pleased with their service.
30 July 2021 17:38
Professional, quick and very friendly.

They knew exactly what they were doing, they came to clean our vents and did it efficiently, quickly and, in my opinion, professionally.

If you are considering this buisness I would say they are fair with their prices and have good ethics. People who do work with which they can be proud of are the type of people I think you can trust.
27 July 2021 19:20
I had very bad experience with these guys, don’t trust these guys especially Sam. They installed a tankless water heater for me. First, they give you a quote and then keep on asking money for different things. Till the second they started my installation everything got worse and worse. Even after installation, my tankless water heater was not giving me the hot water, so Sam told me to upgrade the gas service and call FortisBC, so I called them. FortisBC told me that I need to tell my gas contractor to hook up the main line after, so I called Sam and told him to come after. On the day of upgrading, FortisBC came and changed the meter and service, but Sam showed up in the night after calling all day to tell me that I can’t fix it right now and he will send the technician tomorrow first thing in the morning. The next day, technician showed up at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, so my family and my tenants had to spend 2 days without hot water, heat and gas stove. The problem is still not fixed with my gas stove which is not giving enough flame till the date I am writing this review.

This guy Sam also asked money for the installation in cash to save taxes, so I ended him paying some cash and some bank transfer.

So please beware of these guys especially Sam.
27 July 2021 2:57
Highly recommended, these guys provide the best service. They were very quick and professional. I will call them again and will refer them to family and friends.

Bought new furnace Christmas 2017 and got new thermostat. Have not had to change the battery until a couple nights ago. When the thermostat went off I did not know what to do. Called the company and Duncan called me with 10 min. He walked me through changing the battery. Thanks for the help Duncan:)

Great service, very satisfied with the overall installation job as well as after sales service and follow up. Sam is the best!
29 July 2020 16:58
June 10,2020. Today Sam installed our Air Ease 2 stage furnace. Sam stayed true to his word that he would be at our home for the install and we were especially concerned about having our thermostat relocated and he did change it's location for us; it really needed to be relocated. Sam worked especially hard replacing our old furnace and we are very appreciative of a job well done.
17 July 2020 1:48
I had a furnace and tankless hot water system installed by Canadian Care Heating and Cooling few years ago. They provided regular maintenance and a couple of fixes since then. The last fix was during the snowstorm in February, when my furnace started misbehaving while the temperature outside was -7C, which was very scary. I was amazed that the company managed to send someone during terrible road conditions to fix it. Great service!
06 July 2020 5:19
Sam came over twice and took his time to do a good job and get me spares on warranty. I would recommend this company and services any time
03 April 2019 1:39

Superior service from Sam Gilani! My father in-law had a boiler problem and the house was getting colder and colder. At 10: 40 pm on a Friday evening, we called Sam's mobile on face time and he walked us through a diagnostic process and taught us how to reset the boiler. It's truly wonderful that a technician like Sam was willing to help our family well past business hours, thank you so much Sam!
18 January 2019 4:54
These guys are great. They came on a holiday and met the promised service time slot promptly. Kudos

Watch out for Sam.
I agreed to pay all but my deposit by check or cash to help Canadian Care avoid paying their credit card fee, but then found out I couldn't, so I phoned Duncan at Canadian Care. He said no problem, credit card would be fine after all.
After installation, the mechanic said this was news to him, and had no credit card machine and asked for my credit card number, or to phone in my number to the office. I told him this was a bad idea, and I would gladly wait for a machine to arrive or go down to the office with the card to pay, then I have a record of how much I am being charged.
Instead, Sam arrived some days later and asked for cash/cheque again.
I reiterated my agreement with Duncan. He found that unlikely he said. I said I found it strange that he hadn't been told, so I suggested he call Duncan and ask. He made a call, to whom I do not know, and said that Duncan denied my call. I generously suggested that maybe Duncan had forgotten. Sam refused to let me talk to Duncan myself. I am now suspicious of Sam and suspect a bogus call. I refuse to pay other than by card. He appears to acquiesce and tries to slip by me a paper bill with $75 pencilled in for credit card fees. I refuse to pay it. He then said this was because Duncan had offered to split the fee 50/50 with me. I pointed out that if, as he said, Duncan denied the call, how could he have offered anything? So Sam reluctantly takes my card and puts it into his machine and hands it back to me for verification. There is no amount on the screen. I refuse to verify until I see the amount I am signing for. He re-enters it, and finally I pay. All this has taken 30 to 45 minutes. He calls me a "difficult customer". Well, if any customer who expects an agreement to be kept, and who smells deceit, is difficult, then maybe Sam should complain to the Better Business Bureau. Good luck with that.

We got a really great service from the tech they sent over. Highly recommended, so professional.
