Canadian Tire

The Canadian Tire service centre, in Port Alberni, are harassing and lying to me.
The service manager for Canadian Tire in Port Alberni, has been feeding me false information and flat out lying about the rims of my truck. Because of this I was bullied into having to remove the 3 rims and tires from my truck and take them to him to get the tires put on that were due to me because of warranty issues. Keep in mind that I am a 69-year-old senior.
He stated to me that the lug nuts on my truck were the wrong ones and that I would have to spend about $1,000, or more, to replace them all. He said I needed flat faced nuts instead of the acorn nuts that I have.
He then stated that my rims were not stock and after market.
He then stated that my rims were too old and worn.
Because of all the above he said he would not remove the rims from my truck due to liability issues and that I would have to remove the tires myself and bring them to him.
I spent 5 hours of my time investigating the above issues.
I finally went to the Ford dealership in Parksville (Family Ford) and discussed these issues with 2 different Ford technicians, the parts person and the owner of the dealership.
All agreed that I already have the correct lug nuts on my truck. They also stated that my rims are an OEM stock item for my truck and not after market. And finally, they stated that my rims maybe old, they are not a safety or liability issue.
When I shared this information with the service manager, he asked that if I could get all this in writing from the dealership, he would install my tires and rims. When I said I would do what he requested he stopped me and stated that even if I got the information in writing he would still not remove the tires from my truck as he still believes that he and his technician are right.
So, as a 69-year-old senior, I had to jack up my truck, remove the rims and tires from my truck (50lbs each), put them in my car and take them to Port Alberni, take them out of my car in order to get the tires installed. Then go home and put them back on. I had to repeat this process for the third tire. Total driving 198km for three trips to Port Alberni.
In addition, the service manager went to the trouble of entering the above false information into the Canadian Tire data base. His intent is clearly to cause me additional problems in the future. More harassment.
I have been calm and polite through out this event so I really do not understand where the service manager is coming from. He seems to be working on his own agenda. Given the facts he certainly has made it personal. This is not about protecting the Port Alberni Canadian Tire from liability, but instead this has turned into a personal attack and full blown harassment towards me.
Many of my senior friends would not have been able to remove their tires and rims due to lack of skills, tools and strength. This would have put them in a very confusing and costly position. So, beware seniors and others of who you are dealing with.
Through out Canadian Tire there are signs stating that abuse from the customers will not be tolerated. So, what happens when the staff are abusing the customers?

Don't go here for any automotive work on your vehicle even if it's a tire change.

I booked an appointment approximately 2 weeks in advance for 4 new winter tires (also purchasing from the same location). I get a call the day before telling me they only have 3 out of the 4 (I asked when making the booking if I could pay over the phone for these since I didn't want me to sell out before the appointment, I was assured that they wouldn't) and without asking if I was willing to change the typ of tiers they already canceled my appointment. I live in Tofino and was making the trip down for this and continuing across island afterwards.

Appointment was for 3pm, they were running behind and didn't get my vehicle in untill about 4pm. I get a call at aboutb4: 30pm telling me that my car has to many problems and it's not worth putting on new ties.and before I could even argue they had it down off the hoist and going out the bay doors. I said what's wrong with that it's that bad I'm driving to nanaimo then campbell river and in a few days back to tofino.they continue to say it's unsafe and wouldn't pass a safty inspection. I said but there's been snow and I'm doing alot of drive so your telling me I'm stuck? They said "oh no uts fine to do all that it's just not worth spending $800 on tiers it's an 2007 so you should probably just get a new one aways. "

I'm sure there are repairs I need to get done but nothing urgent and if my vehicle was that unsafe it should have been grounded.

It's been about a week since this happen and I've been called twice from them telling me the original 4 tiers I was supposed to get are in and do I want them. I'm like ahh no you denied my vehicle and told me not to spend the money so I went somewhere else.

I went to Kal tier I told them my situation and they laughed and said even if you had to push your car here we would do the service your paying for.

At the end of the day I think they just simply had poor time management and ran out of time since the shop closed at 5pm and didn't start looking at my vehicle until after 4pm

Horrible lady named Johanna sounds like South African accent very rude to customers as well as staff I will never shop at Canadian tire ever again Canadian tire should be embarrassed to have this women represent their company shame on u

I went to return my TV today, which I bought 20 days ago. I bought it because I thought it had an airplay feature. When I went to customer service, the lady at the desk was so rude. She asks us the reason for the return. My husband explained the reason. She said, "Does it have any faults or defects? " We said no, but it’s not compatible, and we are now looking for some other TV that has the AirPlay feature as well. She kept saying the same thing again and again: "What’s the fault? "
Finally, we returned and showed her the TV; it was all well and in brand new condition. She was processing the payment, and another team member who was checking the TV to make sure everything was good explained to her about the Apple Play thing.
She said to him in a sarcastic way that it would probably cost more than $1000 for that Apple feature.

It was so embarrassing the way she said it. It felt like she was saying you guys couldn't afford it.

There was no need to say any of this. She could have just returned it with a smile. Management should look into this and take some action about this kind of behaviour towards the customer.

They had exactly what I wanted and even put it in the shopping cart for me. Very pleasant young woman who did the work. Nice to see the store decently well staffed.

Phoned yesterday trying to get a single tire changed as we had a blowout on our travel trailer and the lady who answered the phone in service wouldn’t give us the time of day. Had no interest in helping us out even after explaining we just needed 1 tire and we’re stuck on the side of the road. They said “drop it off and we might get to it - no guarantee” and she just repeated this to me multiple times while trying to explain the quick job and the situation we were in.what kind of tire shop can’t have time in a day to mount a single tire. Maybe 10m job? Anyways we went to Jacks Tire across town instead and they had us back on the road within the hour, and we ended up getting a set of 4. Happy to give business to a company that cares to help, Canadian tire lost out on the sale this time, due to poor customer service.

Staff here are awesome. Tonight a couple of young lads (different encounters) were jovial, helpful, and efficient. Made the shopping experience amusing and enjoyable.

It's also the last major hardware store before the edge of the world, highly recommend stocking up on supplies before you head to through to the coast.
The RV section is quite expansive, as is the hunting and fishing section

The staff here generally knows where items are, it's worth asking for help here

Boy, do you ever have to be careful when you shop at Canadian Tire. Caveat emptor with a real vengeance.

They advertised a Roomba vacuum cleaner for a Black Friday sale. Half price. Great deal, right? Well, it's a Roomba 691, and, after I bought it, I found out that not only does iRobot not support them any more, but that a later, more advanced model, sells, at regular price, cheaper than what Canadian Tire charged me for the 691!

In addition, when I bought the vacuum, I had a Triangle Rewards card, but hadn't brought it with me. No problem, says the clerk. Buy now, and you can enter the purchase online with the Triangle card. Well, I've looked all over their site, and there doesn't seem to be any way to do that.

Pretty shabby, all round.

Arrogant parts people.don't give what you ask but try to upsell you from the start. All their product is sheap chinese merch at.high priced w no after service. Only go if you must.

No matter what, they always seem to have what you need at reasonable prices. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and Get you what you need quickly and professionally.

I had an emergency & needed an item quick! I live in Ucluelet and was arranging a local delivery service to pick up, it was first thing in the morning and the time cut off was ASAP, I didn’t have high hopes but I called into the online ordering department and they were friendly, understanding & went out of their way to get it arranged in a beyond timely manner. I got into this position thanks to Lowe’s in Nanaimo, the experience with CT in Port Alberni was night & day.

I was happy that this time they had what I wanted in stock. They were very helpful, and loaded my purchase into my car. I will say however I really dislike how you have to exit when not purchasing something, especially during Covid. Still the same for existing, I really wish this would change.

The staff here are all pretty awesome, very friendly and helpful with whatever you are looking for in store. I find them very approachable when I need help.

And while I'm sure all Canadian Tire stores allow dogs, this Canadian Tire treats their canine customers very well. They keep a big water bowl outside by the entrance, and treats are offered at the checkout. My dog loves getting occasional pets by the staff when they can spare the time, the treat is just a bonus.

Saved my bacon, charged up a dead motorcycle battery, got me home. Thanks so much to the automotive section for saving the day.

Wonderful service from Seasonal Manager Linda today when we went in to pick up an order and purchase some patio items. Quick, friendly, and knowledgeable staff.

For RVs: I did not use the dump station. Tere mus be any. I was filling up propane gas for my RV. How to: go to the cashier of Canadian Tier. You must indicate the size of your bottle, then pay the price. Somebody will then fill up your bottle. Place: in front of the shop.

Small store, don't expect much. I waited in line for 10 minutes with 1 item, while the cashier rung in a whole pallet of annuals for some old guy. Yes one cashier.

Shay, Sara, Kim, George x2, Matt basically so many amazing community members working to help each other find what we need and get our jobs done. Some move on to better jobs to match their skill sets, many stay and have a great day in their community, til then they got the tills and the best 70% sales across Canada n possibly locally…. My dogs are going to get fat as they love that every staff member adores, them and plies them with the treaties ;). We also know how to keep our distance! Leave no tracks and make sure everyone has a safe and respectful experience. Thank you to the WONDERFUL Staff at Port ALBERNI Canadian Tire. I even made it for Sarah’s Marlow last day, I owe ya as I didn’t even buy a thing! Happy St Georges day!

Always had a great experience with the store and it's products, they could use a few more reps in some sections but the cashiers are always sunny. Not so much at the returns desk. Overall it's slightly above average for customer atmosphere and experience and price wise better than most, good impulse buys and stock items.oh and noone tackled me for make issues hahaha so 2 thumbs guys.and a snap from this d.i. Y diva!

Great friendly and helpful staff. All pretty young but they try hard ;-). An employee dug through Christmas lights over the phone to see if they had the ones I needed. Have a clerk who is always cheery and speaks as fast and similar to an auctioneer.
Canadian Tire is what it is, they all sell the same stuff, but this one makes it a good experience too.

Pretty standard Canadian Tire. Staff here have always been awesome even when they don't have what in looking for or out of stock. I was even lucky enough to be babysat when I couldn't find what they said was there (it was there).

On Christmas Eve day a young guy in the automotive department went totally out of his way to dig out a part from deep in their offsite warehouse. Amazing service. Small town service is awesome!

Had what I was looking for and much more. Went in to buy something that was on sale and found something better for even less! Staff is very friendly and helpful, always having great sales oh, and a great variety of things to choose from.

Amazing service from George and Josh in the auto repair department. Was in a pinch while on the road and they had me in and fixed up in no time. Super friendly and made me feel that they genuinely cared about sorting out my problem in good time.

Way over priced and said things that were not even wrong with my car will not use their shop ever again for anything but will shop in the stop occasionally

I really like shopping at Canadian Tire. It is a lot more than an automotive store, and has all kinds of useful gadgets for every room in your house. I also get my pet supplies there and they don't mind if you bring your dog in with you. I look at the store flyer every week to save money. My kind of store.

Are you kidding I bought my first lawnmower from there when I was 13 with CT money that I worked hard for. Although was a store in Alberta. But have got the exact same service as ever anyways I always like my shopping time there. Good solid staff who know what they are doing thanks.

Average Canadian Tire Store found in most smaller cities in Canada. The larger cities have the 2 storey locations with many more categories of products

Canadian tire has the coolest assortment of products. I own a lot of mastercraft tools. When a Freud blade is put on a Mastercraft saw it's then a good tool.

Almost anything tends to go on sale highly discounted if you're watching and willing to wait for what you are after. Mostly staffed by highschool kids which while I do support. Some are very helpful others ignore you and act busy while avoiding eye contact
George in automotive is great and always helpful and knowledgeable.

I went in because my signal lights weren't working. Canadian Tire charged me $104 to tell me it was the four way flasher switch. I found out from Alberni Electric that it was just a loose wire and Canadian Tire shouldn't have charged me for a false diagnosis. Alberni Electric fixed the problem for no charge.

Best Canadian Tire I've been to. Staff that actually know where things are and are happy to help you. And I can't remember his name, but they have a magical guy on the tills who makes you feel like you're a contestant on a game show. He's amazing.

Great selectin and fair prices. Staff is amazing. My dog loves this place as everyone stops to pet him. He gets upset if there is not a dog treat for him. I shop here at least once a week, if not more.

It's the perfect place to go if you're pulling wrench, doing housework or fixing up your garden/ yard. Its got it all for you and the staff are always welcoming and appreciative.

It's another CT. A go to location in PA. Well stocked, moderately well serviced. Good sales, convenient location, lots of parking.

Had a great experience, I was looking for an air fryer but the one I wanted was out of stock. I talked to an employee named Karley, she was very friendly and knowledgeable about the products. I bought an instant pot instead. She's a great saleswoman. Lol. It wasn't even her department.

It's hard 5o find a staff member that actually know what I'm looking for if it's there or not do they cary it or not. I looked for 29 minutes to find someone to help me and the response was ill find someone that's not my department.

I spend alot of time here, when I come, too much to look at.lol. I love that u can bring ur dog in here, wish more places would do that.

Store is kept clean and shelves look organized. The usually have what I am looking for in stock. Usually leave with more then I expected to.

Great selection, super friendly staff, and great prices. Always find a place to park. They’ve been excellent with their covid19 protocols and ensuring customers follow the rules while in store.

Poorly organised, carts with inventory for stocking & ladders blocking aisles, aside from one cashier, staff is largely unhelpful, with little knowledge about anything.

Not the greatest for having stuff in stock. Customer service staff are very competent and efficient. Online ordering with in store pick up works well here.

This stores return policy is super unclear. Non returnable items should be stated on the receipt and the customer should be notified before purchase.

The store sells a very wide range of merchandise at reasonable prices. Keep up the great work.

Bought 50 inch tv was not clear picture unsatisfied so replaced with a Sharpe 55 smart tv Canadian tire was so helpfull thanks Canadain tire staff

Very friendly staff! Was so happy my dogs could come in with me as I badly needed some camping supplies as I was passing through. Found everything I needed. To the girl at cash who was a sweetheart, wish you all the best at camosun! I know you'll do great! Will for sure make this store one of my stops if I pass by enroute to camping. Highly recommend this store!
