First time at Canvas today, and it was a great experience. Have tried a few places in Kits since moving here a year ago, and have finally found the one! Quyen gave me a great cut, provided good advice and product recommendations, and even gave me some product samples to try out. They have a great selection of products for men and women and a nice, clean, friendly environment. Highly recommend!

Quyen was amazing and understood my wants. She genuinely cared about the health of hair which I am so appreciative of! I will be back, thank you Canvas for a great experience!

I was very desperate for a hair-refresh and happened to walk by Canvas while visiting Vancouver. I was so pleased they were able to accommodate, despite not having an appointment. I asked for blonde/silver highlights and I am pumped how it turned out- especially since my hair was broken and brassey before this appointment. It was truly a gnarly mess upon entering that salon but I left feeling so pleased! Not an easy task. Thanks for taking care of me!

I had my hair cut byQuyen and absolutely love what she did for me. I've had about 10 days to play with my new style and it's incredibly versatile and looks great up, down, straight or curly. Best cut I've had in years. Thanks so much Quyen!

I had a great experience here of a hair cut with scalp treatment and pedicure. The scalp treatment particularly was good, she used real aloe vera!

Quyen is amazing! She cares so much about your satisfaction and beautiful results. I did my curly hair cut and I love it and I’ve received so many compliments about it! She also makes sure you have a good time in the salon and is super kind and caring. My sister and I went there together and absolutely a great time with beautiful results.

Visited today! Had my hair highlighted and the owner quyen did such an amazing job! Also had my nails done with a green French tip after my nails were ruined the lady recovered them and now I feel gorgeous again! Would recommend and will definitely visit again! Thanks so much xx

I've been seeing Quyen for years for my hair but just recently visited their new location after a hiatus due to Covid. I brought a girlfriend with me to get delux pedicures. We saw Laura and Marlena who were fantastic! Our nails looked great, our feet felt amazing and the foot and calf massage that comes withe the delux pedicure is the perfect amount to help you relax.

We enjoyed conversation with Laura and Marlena and they also gave me a tip for skin care, which I really appreciated.

The new location of Canvas salon is smaller than the older place but I quite like it. Comfortable chairs, a cozy setting. I highly recommend Quyen and her team. We will be back!

I booked an appointment last minute, and luckily, Quyen was available. My hair was depressing when I got there; it had no shape or movement.
I came out ecstatic with a haircut that was exactly what I wanted and a thousand recommendations on how to care for and style it—highly recommended!

I had heard great recommendations about Canvas for several months, and safe to say they did not disappoint! Quyen is extremely knowledgeable and did a fantastic job with my hair. It turned out exactly as I wanted, and I received great tips for hair care and styling along the way. I'll definitely be booking again soon!

I am in two minds about leaving a review of my experience with Canvas Hair + Nail Salon, but perhaps it will help others potential customers in their experience in making a booking as well ensuring you’ve asked all the ‘right’ questions before deciding to have hair services rendered.

When I booked a half-head highlights, I also enquired with reception about adding a ‘fringe trim if time allows’ (fringe = bang trim in the UK), and was responded to that it would be ok to have this service added on to my booking time. In every other salon I have been to in my lifetime, I have never been charged for a fringe trim (especially not to the tune of $20). I didn’t even consider checking the price list for such services before making the booking for the fringe because I was already spending a significant sum on having half-head highlights, and it never occurred to me this service would cost me additionally.

The staff are kind and accommodating, and seem knowledgeable about the products and services they offer, but what I personally find very irritating are ‘hidden costs’ and businesses not being forthcoming to the customer, after the customer has already been quoted for the services booked. When I was nearly done with the highlighting, I was informed I needed a toner (and of course I asked how much more was that going to cost because I have only ever had a toner once before, and knew would be separate from the cost of highlights). I initially objected to the toner, and then the stylist took me through the process of why it was a good idea. Unfortunately having a toner put on your hair isn’t something you can determine immediately if you think it is worth while or not until weeks later when you see your highlights still look vibrant and well-blended, even with hair grow-out. Just be sure to ask the question or be prepared for an additional cost on top of your quoted hair colour services, because everything is not 'always included. '

Words of warning – do not book hair services with Canvas if you:
1) Have a sensitive scalp.
*In the process of highlights, each grouping of dry hair to be highlighted was back-combed before the colour and foils put in. This, over the course of the hour was rather excruciating (especially as I have never in my 25 years of having hair colour experienced backcombing before), not to mention when the highlights were pulled through once at the sink/bowl, this backcombing process became even more painful as the foils were extracted from my long hair.
*Water temperature extremes – not once was I asked, “how is the water temperature? ” until my head was hit with several shots of extremely cold water, and I let out a shriek indicating that my head was being shocked with unpleasantly cold water. This continued through the remaining time I spent at the bowl (approx. 30 mins), and eventually was told someone was coming out ‘today to look at this issue. ’
*Rough hands & fingers shampooing/cleaning the hair – the use of plastic gloves worn by the stylist probably exacerbated scalp sensitivity. In all my previous hair care experiences I have typically enjoyed nice, massages of shampoo/conditioners/treatments through the hair, but instead I was met with rough, rushed fingers and hands, yanking the hair around in a very unpleasant, unrelaxing way.

2) Have sore/weak neck.
*You are often left hanging over the bowl for long stretches of time (10 minutes +) while the colour processes, or special treatment/toner being applied. I wasn’t being informed how long I would have to be sat, with my head dangling back in the bowl.

3) Are in any rush/have other appointments immediately after your hair appointment time.
*The time for the appointment stated (3 hours) was an additional 30 minutes, for a total of 3.5 hours.

My hair highlights have turned out nicely, but I'm not sure it was worth my time in terms of pain and time spent in uncomfortable positions, for something that isn't going to make me feel 100% wonderful, relaxed, beaming when you walk out the door from a hair salon experience.

Wonderful experience. Staff was warm and welcoming, studio was clean and modern and the service was professional. Very pleased overall and would recommend.

Laura did a really great job with the Refresh mani/pedi! Lots of attention to detail, friendly, clean. Super sweet little salon, I recommend checking it out!

I came in for a keratin treatment with Quyen, and could not be happier with the results. My hair was a frizzy mess beforehand, but after she worked her magic it was shiny, soft, and frizz-free. Highly recommend this place, and Quyen specifically. I will definitely be back. Thank you Quyen!

Got my nails done (gel polish) by Laura and she was so sweet and very careful when she was working on them. Price was also cheaper than a lot of other places which made it all the more worth it. Highly recommend

Loved my hair cut with Quyen today! She used a clarifying treatment on my hair & scalp to remove build up and it did wonders. Her knowledge of hair care and health is extensive, and she gave me lots of hair maintenance tips. The cut looks great too, thank you!

Loved this salon, I came in yesterday to treat myself on my birthday and I had the best experience. I got a russian manicure done by Laura and a russian pedicure done by Marlena and the results are phenomenal. I’m anemic and it’s very hard for my nails to grow and the girls were so sweet and helpful and gave great advice on how to help them grow in strongly. They made my nails look so strong and healthy and elegant. They were both so fun to talk to and I had such a great time. Can’t wait to come back, thank you again girls! ️

Quyen is amazing, I had her cut my hair and style it, she is done excellent job. I have received soo many compliments. She took her time cutting my hair making sure its exactly how the pictures model looked like. She is friendly and passionate about her job. I will definitely go back.

I also came her last month for Mani and Pedi, they ladies were super friendly and did great job, loved my nails?

It was my first time at Canvas and I cannot say that I was disappointed. When I first walked in, the atmosphere was warm, friendly and inviting.

We went over exactly what I wanted and how we could get there and even after a few bumps in the road, she was able to get me exactly what I wanted. Quyen brought back life and beauty to my hair. I loved how much attention was put into my time with her and it was nice seeing someone who enjoys their job and wants to make sure that everything is done to the expectations of the client.

As well, in the few hours of my being at her salon, I learned a lot about my hair and how to take care of it to make sure it always looks great. It was an absolute pleasure to have my hair done by someone who is a master and also enjoys what she does!

Quyen gained a longtime client and I will be recommending everyone to make their way into Canvas.
