Beautiful park filled with tall trees and a gorgeous river. Varied trails allow you to do a range of hikes from easy ones suitable for families with young kids to more strenuous with some elevation gain and distance for a good day’s outing.

Cool spot for a swim. Tough to get to with younger kids so wouldn't recommend taking kids below 6 years old. Slight hike downhill. The dogs love it.

It was a beautiful park, and since it is one of the few hiking trails that is actually (not theoretically) accessible by transit, I intend to go back and try the other trails, and perhaps check out the salmon hatchery one day.

“The Capilano River Regional Park is a great place in North Vancouver to take photos, have a picnic, or begin a hike in nearby trails”.
“The dam is named after engineer Ernest Albert Cleveland who envisioned the need for the proper maintenance of a pristine and efficient water supply as well as sustainable use of water resources”.
“The Cleveland Dam is a 91-metre high (299 ft) concrete dam at the head of the Capilano River in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada that holds back Capilano Lake, also known as Capilano reservoir. Part of the Capilano River Regional Park, it stores a portion of the Lower Mainland's drinking water. It captures water from one of the three Metro Vancouver watersheds. Construction was started in 1951 and completed in 1954”.

Capilano River Regional Park is located in the District of North Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. It is one of twenty-one regional parks operated by the Metro Vancouver. The park encompasses most of the upstream areas of the Capilano River below the Cleveland Dam. The area north of the dam surrounding Capilano Lake is closed to the public as it is a GVRD watershed. The privately operated Capilano Suspension Bridge crosses the river, but it is not within park boundaries and does not access the park.

It seems to be abandoned. I think it must be renewed. There is no restaurants or public washroom available there (The doors were locked).
There is no much things to do there. You can not buy or catch a salmon to eat, no restaurant.

Wow, what a hidden gem. And it's free! Great trails and scenery, and the hatchery must be amazing when the salmon are running. Pass on the $35 bridge ticket and check out this park.

Table à picnic sur place. Nous avons combiner ce parc avec les ponts suspendus.

Excellent hikes and beautiful scenery. The hike is short but is excellent for a short get away from the city life. The trails follow along the river and at the time of the salmon run it is an astonishing scene. The hatchery is a must see around the same time.

This is a really cool location in the heart of North Vancouver. We stumbled upon the trails into the park while walking around the neighbourhood. I'm always amazed at how Vancouver has such beautiful parks and forests right in the city. People have back yards that face out onto the river. The trails take you right down to the river and alongside for quite a while. The river is quite serene and there are many benches along the way to stop and take in the beauty.

Very beautiful park. I read that the trails were flat and easy but that wasn't the case. You should be reasonably fit and expect some rugged parts and steep slopes, gravel etc.

It such a serene beautiful place to go for a hike. Canadas rainforest is an excellent place to explore and I highly recommended it to everyone visiting Vancouver and its surrounding areas.

This park is full of different hiking paths you could take. My family and I parked at the bottom at the camp grounds and hiked all the way up to the Cleveland Dam which was a great hike and even better view from the top of a mountain beside the Dam. It was stunning once you got up there. It was full of stairs going up so take that into consideration when climbing from bottom to top. The scenary is beautiful on this trail. Have yet to explore the rest of the park. The trails are free. The suspension bridge at Capilano you do have to pay for. Parking at the regional park is free. In the afternoons it is not that busy.
Happy hiking!

Take a nice quiet walk along the river. You can hear the sound of the water and the sining of the birds. The shade of the trees will keep you nice and cool on a hot summer day.

A most beautiful park indeed! It was a lovely walk though the trail leading to a salmon hatchery which was very interesting and informative. As always the forest was amazing with the tallest trees I have ever seen. A must see in my view!

A beautiful intercity park with great trails and scenery. Just wish everyone would use the provided garbage cans for their junk.

Perfect place to go for hiking. When you are walking you feel like you are actually walking through forest. All of a sudden there will be soooo quiet, silence.and some times you will hear only river water flowing.its an incredible experience.
