It's awesome they began updating the theatre a bit!
Also excited that Tuesdays are a really good price, $28 for snacks and two 3d tickets, I asked to make sure if she got everything
I actually love this old theatre, been coming here since I was a kid.it's nice to have a place in town and not drive all the way to Vic.

This place will always have a special place in my heart. I am a big fan of places with just one or 2 screens. It has classy curtains and cool lighting. Popcorns pretty good. There are cafes and tasty resturaunts nearby. Just down the street you can also check out Time & Space Continuum for live music etc.

Arrive a bit early as they run a sparsely maned ship here. Both shows, tickets and food are serviced by one crew, through one line. You can wait a good while before you get to your seats so do us a favour and have it vaguely sorted as to what you want to order before you get to the counter. Not like the good ol' days where you bought your tickets and then decided if you want to get some seats or stand in line for food, etc. The kids had a good laugh at the "crisped rice" snack. Times are tough I guess.
Once you get sorted the seats are nothing special which is like most theatres of this vintage.

Great for an old cinema, price was good, seats were comfortable, didn't get snacks but did grab an orange juice.
The only reason I gave it a 4 was the fact that the screen needs a touch up the center of the bottom had 2 good size smudges and it sort or dragged my eyes to it frequently.
All in all it was a good experience I went and seen Top Gun 2, movie was horrible.

Sure, massage chairs and fancy cocktails served in cut crystal with a 5 star menu would be nice, but since it's just a local movie theater to take your kids, lower your expectations. Giant sodas, fresh popcorn with butter, clean bathrooms, air conditioning and soda holders in front of the seats. Plus 3D movies and a bunch of coin machines dispensing candy and little toys to further entertain the kids. Staff is very chill and super friendly as well, and good with kids running around spilling popcorn all over the place.

Poor coordination between online posting of show times. Showed up for a movie tonight for an 8: 40pm start as the website states yet the theatre has it starting an hour early at 7: 45pm very disappointed!

The Caprice Cinema in Duncan, simply refuses to get in adult movies. It's all Super Hero or Disney Cartoons. So, if you're an adult in Duncan, be prepared to drive to Nanaimo or Victoria to see a movie for grownups. Other than good popcorn, no one can ever explain to me why the owners refuse to show adult thrillers or murder mysteries etc. For weeks at a time you can see 2 or 3 "now playing" movie titles, and they're ALL children's cartoons and a Super Hero movie for teens. Sometimes they'll play the occasional sci-fi which adults can enjoy as well. Maybe every 8 - 10 weeks. But aside from that, they cater to families with children. Not adults.

Though very dated, they continue to upgrade and get support from the community. Independent theatres are so hard to find, I'm glad this one still exists.

Basic local theatre. Reminds me of the small town I lived in on Ontario. All your basic movie fair. Not the best screen or seating but reasonable experience and close to home.

How's movie theaters go it's alright it's a little bit run down but I think that's part of the charm. They have new seats in there for most of the theater which makes a big difference as well. Better than driving to nine more Victoria keep the money local.

So make no mistake. This is not an odeon.

But it has a ton of charm. It's like going back in time to a simpler small town theatre where they don't gouge you at the box or concession stand. The seats aren't lazy boys.but they don't need to be. They're comfortable by the fact that you have leg room.

I look forward to going there every chance I can. Overall a great way to watch a flick without breaking the bank on the popcorn.

Have been to this theater a couple of times. Two complaints.
First, separate your ticket and concession line ups. Some people just want to get to their seats and not have to wait for everyone else to get their snacks.
Second. Management should show up to work on time so you can open the theatre doors. The sign says they are open at 12: 20. Tried seeing Mary Poppins at the 1: 30 show. Arrived at 1: 15 and the manager hadn't arrived yet. Half the line up outside was still waiting about hoping they hadn't missed the 12: 50 Aquaman show. The one lone employee who had arrived on time had no keys and was getting cold waiting to start work. I know it's a small town theater but come on.

I can't think of a better movie experience that I've ever had. I'm not sure what it is about the place: the faux wool ceiling, the centre 'new' seats, the ambiguous stains, the $5 Tuesday ticket price, the marks on the screen that show during movies, or the absolute massive screen. Needless to say, this is no IMAX; It's the antithesis of movie watching.

Was at the theatre today for the 1: 30 matinee showing of Mary Poppins. Unfortunately there was no one there to open the doors. Several people left that were there for the 12: 50 showing of Aquaman. My friend and I left as we had no idea ifor when the doors would open. There were others like myself who were there for Mary Poppins and they also left. The lone employee who did show up on time had to wait outside in the cold. I sure hope he will still get paid for his time. Very disappointing

This is a small town cinema with two screens, looks like they are renovating when i went in November 2018.

I simply walked into the covered area at the rear of the building to locate an item in my backpack while trying to stay out of the rain for less than two minutes and I was accosted by a man on the other side of the door tilling me it was time to move on and called me a "junkie", first of all I'm not a junkie. Second the prejudice I experienced without even been seen was appalling! I didn't cause any harm, create a mess or anything else a business owner would like to avoid but I was treated as I had personally ruined his property! I even picked up some trash and disposed of it properly, quite the opposite of the assumption made by management. I suggest you boycott this place or please bring your own refreshments and only come to see a movie when it's at a bargain price requiring the purchase of the overpriced snacks and beverages they offer at the entrance and buy none of it! And for the A**h*le that yelled at me, I hope you are in need of some kindness and generosity one day in the future and just as I'm about to extend my hand to you, another fellow human being, I realize who you are and what you said and did and I simply explain to you that the consequence you're now faced with is instead of helping you, I'm going to watch you suffer and beg for forgiveness before I can consider helping an individual as morally bankrupt as yourself. Then I simply walk away, have a coffee, stretch and slowly walk back and say, I should leave you for the wildlife to feed upon your carcass but unlike yourself I have a sole and give you just enough help to survive.
