For 13 years, I lived within walking distance of Parksville Home Building Centre.

I paid a visit to it recently and it was just as I remembered it.

There's a selection of everything from lumber to backyard bird feeders.

I enjoyed strolling through the aisles and I found what I was looking for!

Went in for 2 things and found recycled rubber matting.great for my rocky area yo make a seating area for the summer bought 8 of them thinking of 4 more.way cheaper then wood or cement pavers. This is the idea.will dig down and level it.double ground cloth it and have place to sit out in the evenings

What's not to like? Who doesn't love hardware stores?

Good selection, helpful staff. My only negative reaction was to the price of a single purchase.

I needed a less than one metre piece of wood. It could be any old rough, distressed plank. I found an otherwise useless and likely unsellable offcut that I assumed would be discarded. They charged me $4.00 for what really was destined to be garbage. I have no idea what is a reasonable price, but $4.00 for something that most places have simply given away seems wrong.

The friendly staff has been very helpful, every time I go in with questions.
Recently went in for a couple sawhorses and a piece of plywood, and one employee helped me determine what size/thickness of wood I would need for my project. I did not catch his name, but he was extremely helpful!
After making my purchase, a delightful young man named Davis helped me locate my plywood, helped me carry it out to my vehicle, and helped tie it down when we realized it would never fit inside!

Great little store, staff is very helpful (especially in the Lumber area) but all in all a good store for pretty much all your maintenance needs.

Had an issue with some returned items with receipt in a timely manner, could not be resolved at managers level so contacted owner to no avail. This store is very unprofessional and unethical. Will never shop again at this store.

Went in looking for a few boards for a project at home and ended up finding some curios in there as well. Had no problem dealing with the staff and the wait I had was very reasonable. The guys in the yard were well more than helpful, as well.

Wonderful experience. I needed 35 inches of downspout. I was told that they could not cut to shorter lengths that they had in stock which I get. They had a length which was dented (damaged) and I asked what kind of a discount I could get as I thought, given it was dented it would likely be difficult to sell. The customer service person told me she would do what she could do. End result 99 cents off of a 21.99 purchase. Made me chuckle at the checkout! My neighbor had a good laugh as I relayed the experience to him. I initially gave them one star but that was a hasty review on my part based on this one experience. Upon reflection I changed it to 4 stars as normally the service that I get there is excellent, and as well, from the same staff person. My first attempt at submitting an online review and I should have put more thought into it rather than review on just this one instance. It did make me chuckle though.

Thank you for fantastic service you spend 40 minutes dig out my floors and help me that i can install my laundry room today. I cant thank you enough for treat me very well even i was dirty pants dirty shirt you still treat me like princess.

Did not have what I wanted but redirected me nicely. Lots of interesting things there just the same.

Mixed experiences with staff: some friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, some rude and dismissive. Decent selection of fasteners, paint supplies etc. Would shop elsewhere if location were not so convenient.

Very helpful staff, they seem to carry everything you might need. My "go to" hardware and building supply store.

The people that work here are pretty friendly in general except for one older gentleman that doesn't seem to like answering questions or helping customers look for things. I just don't go up to that guy anymore and get great help from the nice workers. Although service seems to be consistently slow, alot of people, myself included seem to wait at the service desk for someone to either arrive to the desk or wait in line for help.

I like this store. It's not a Home Depot or a Lowe's, but it has all that you need for that big project or emergency repair.

The staff are great and always helpful. Even checking other Home Hardware stores if they dont have what you need. I had some good advice from them which saved me money and heartache.

Thye also support Aeroplan, so if you buy you can also get points towards flights if you're an aerplan member.

Great amount of inventory. Clean lot and sparkling clean store. Big signs, I like that. Equally excellent Customer Service. Great knowledgeable staff who recognize me as part of the community. Thank you. I prefer this location to the rest. Totally different and much better.

They, ripped me off of $1200 intensionally. In there flooring section particularly. After doing most of my business with them.

I taught costumer service for many year and the very first thing I would teach is.make eye contact and say "I'll be right with you".
Every time I go into this location I experience the same thing.totally ignoring me. I stood right in front of him and he just turned his back on me. I asked some one else and she said it's not her department.although she was really sweet about it. So I stood some more right beside his desk. No service! So.i went to Naniamo which 8s something I didn't want to do. I would love to support local.

The Home Hardware on Morison is excellent but they don't carry what I needed; too small.

Central builders both Parksville and Courtney are great. Only wish they would service Victoria!

Who the hell closes for inventory at 1 pm on a Saturday. Incredibly inconsiderate towards those of us who work during the week.

Levi was super knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I found everything I was looking for and more. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Well sticked, only thing is some items don't scan in aswell as some price tags don't match the product or product prices

The guy guarding the door didn't even look like he worked there and he was grumpy but the inside staff were friendly and helpful.

They don’t update website to reflect thier real hours. So saying they’re open, make us drive 55 kms and they’re closed. Waste of an afternoon.ugh!

Lovely evening. Store looked beautiful, obvious staff worked really hard for Ladies Night. Everyone was friendly, fabulous spread of food, and I was so fortunate to win 50/50 draw. I love that store.will go back and shop for those awesome light bulbs!

Ordered kitchen cabinets they were late 2 were the wrong size, countertop people had to get a hold of me because they couldn't reach the planner very poor communication planner has put my project behind about a month, all i got back was sorry and we are going through transition, not good enough.

Tried to buy some dirt and the lady didn't help at all gave me the wrong price and I had to dig through a pile of bales of peat to get the right one hurt my back, tried to buy one of the ripped open bags of dirt to get a deal and the lady lied straight to my face they clearly had flat full of ripped open bags and the lady refused to get rid of them, God I love being treated like a complete idiot. If you need anything go see the team at the building desk in the back. Best customer service I have ever had form a hardware store. The price on all the quotes for our tile and tile supply's, flooring, were better than the prices in town.

They will likely have whatever you need, but good luck finding someone to tell you where it is or finding someone to help you out in general.

I think they are just incredibly understaffed and have a lot of management protocol that doesn't really make sense when they are so understaffed. For instance 8 out of 10 items in the garden center I looked at had no price tags.

And there is a very unusual method about how you are meant to purchase then pick up soil or larger items from the garden center. No signage to explain to you how it works, even the cashier didn't understand and we had to wait for ages for someone to come in who then didn't really explain it and was frustrated with the cashier for not knowing and I was still waiting. That was 20 minutes of my time just waiting around.

Other times you get a seasoned Pro who's been hiding in the back that you happen to luck into chatting with who can tell you everything.

Way to hit or miss for me.
I like to shop local, but this place is on the bottom of my list.

This place is awesome. Talk about old style customer service.
Had a fairly large shipment for Materials for a siding job delivered to site.
Bought it at closing time on a Wednesday and it was delivered by 10 am the following day. 4 tons of product, Driver of Hiab/Crane truck went out of his way to make it down the tight driveway (. 2km) and his expertise with the Crane was unreal. On count.they had made a minor error and missed 1 item on the order. The chief of the delivery yard, DROVE the item (8 pieces) out that very afternoon from Parksville to West of Port Alberni with his apologies. Jerry, Dale, Bruce and the Delivery Driver that day (name?) clearly love what they do and seem well treated by ownership. My business goes no where else but there moving forward.

I shop there a lot because it's convenient. Service is sometimes good, sometimes not so much. I suppose it's pretty much the same everywhere when it comes to that aspect. No need to say anything more.

Wow! A young gentleman greeted me at the door. Marie was very pleasant and called Byron to make sure about the order, Byron was super professional as polite, and Marie finalized the transaction for my flooring. All with super smiles and professionalism. Highly recommended local business. This service from start to finish was 10/10.

Rarely am directed to what I need if they have it. Cabinet installer a few years ago could not seem to get the job right. Stopped going here.

Slow, poor, lousy, incompetent service from lighting department. I never want to deal with them again.

In general it is not a bad store, service is good, there is a variety of products, and I really do not want to be negative as I am a business owner myself and realize the value of reviews. However, my beef is with the pricing. I have bought number of same products at different times (within a couple of days) and their prices were different and varied. So last time I purchased 3/8 x 6" galv.lag bolts, I looked them up online at Home Hardwares' website, and the price was $1.69, the tag on the shelf was $1.19, and when I went through the check out I paid $0.89.go figure. I even mentioned it to the cashier that the tag was $1.19 and she said that the computer said $0.89. This time it worked in my favour, but I highly recommend you check the pricing online first, as there seems a lot of glitches in their computers and inventory.

I've had pretty good experiences at the Home Hardware Building Center in Parksville. Generally, the people are pretty nice and are available to help. This morning was different. I was in at 7: 15 am and the cashier was clipping her nails. Not just one, but all of them. I had to watch until she was finished before she rang my purchase through. Rude, and gross.

Helpful staff, great selection of nuts and bolts (which is what we were looking for). Good customer service.
