Always nice to visit Chapters.wish they still had the Starbucks in the store. Or at least another coffee shop. Kids section is huge and keeps them entertained.
Amazing place to read and relax. Would prefer more reading area. Overall, very warm and cozy atmosphere and love the small home decor they carry as well! My go-to place to spend free time!
I am so happy we have Chapters in the area. A wonderful place to browse and buy books and magazines. Opens so late, too. My kids love coming here more than the library.
Customer service/ cashier was very rude when I was returning something. I also asked the guy to recycle the plastic bag and he said that I can do it myself giving me direction to the garbage can close to the enterance. My first experience with such an incompetent customer service. Do not want to go back there anymore.
Worst "customer" service ever! This store has completed lost the meaning of customers. We pay for their pink and purple fundip hair colour through service. If there's no service provided don't be surprised when the customers go to your competitors!
Staff is wonderful and always helpful. Very knowledgeable and kind. They always have great book recommendations. I've seen entitled patrons try to harass the staff about things outside of their control. Pretty certain those are the same people who then write reviews about "discrimination" and their "rights". I've never had a bad experience at this location. Please remember retail employees don't get paid enough to put up with harassment and listen to misguided interpretations of the charter of rights and freedoms.
The staff here need to be educated on how to provide service and how handle customers with respect. I watched them treat another customer terribly. I won’t be giving them any business going forward.
Staff were really rushed and not overly helpful. Quite different from the Lougheed store. Sad, but I'll be travelling a bit further on my next binge buy
I came here looking for a best seller and soon left with the last copy of it in the province. This easy experience was facilitated by friendly and knowledgeable staff who led me right to what I was looking for. I was in and out in less than five minutes.
Some of the staff here are quite rude; my face mask slipped down for a split second and I put it up right away, and yet had staff rushing to ask me to put my mask on (after it was obviously back on my face), with a very patronizing tone. It seems some people don’t enforce the rules to keep us all healthy, but instead to fill a void of missing significance in their life. I will not be returning to this location.
Update chapters refunded my order 100% and gave me a hard copy and paperback copy of the book they lost.thankyou chapters . I then ordered from amazon and the books arrived within 48hrs
Will never shop here again.ever So Mistake 1 they entered wrong address on m online order, they admit it, mistake 2, lost my kids books in transit, I ordered 5 books a month before Christmas.mistake 3, after promising I can pick up the replacement books in store.they again ship, mistake 4.they ship 2 out of the 5 books.they are still not here. Erin the manager admits all these mistakes. I asked them to send a card to each of my 4 boys explaining the mistakes and appologize.they refuse. I sugest you refuse to give them your business as I now have. Now with 2 days before Christmas, have t try and find 4 harcopies of where the red fern grows.fail chapters.shame on you.not just for the repeated mistakes, but for refusing to accept responsibility and appologize to 4 young boys for your incompetence, and crapping on their Christmas.you have lost me as a customer for life.
Since visiting in October, they have further improved their Covid safety welcome station, thank you. Busy but people are being respectful, the store is well marked though it is difficult to keep 2 metres apart all the time.
It's Chapters.it's ok. If you sign up for their loyalty program, you can get access to special 'members only' after hours sales events which is good if you want to get recently published books.really, I prefer to go a few minutes down the road to Western Sky Books in Poco.
Good choice of books but thing is I don't like being followed around like a criminal neither it really pisses me off when staff do this I don't live my life in fear like all of society does that's not how to live.
Very good place to relax and stay.also lots of kids'things are there. And also I really appreciate to the staffs who works at kids zone. I believe kids zone is lots of works to do but the staffs are always kind to us with smile. Thanks again ;)
I called ahead of visiting my local chapters in Coquitlam BC today to inquire whether the spend $40, get a $10 gift card promotion that was emailed out to me this morning applied to gift card purchases. I was told yes over the phone. I confirmed this information with the first employee I saw upon arriving to the store 15 minutes later. That person checked with a manager and then told me, “yes, gift card purchases are valid for the promotion. However, when I went up to the till 15-20 minutes later, neither the employee on till nor the manager on duty were able to stand by this and give me the $10 gift card promotion.
This is terrible communication and customer service. I don’t want to shop at a business that misrepresents themselves or wastes my time.
Janet saved the day! My niece wanted a particular stmt journaling set for Christmas and chapters was my last hope. Janet first looked and couldn’t find it and then decided to try again and found it. It was put on hold for me and I just came and picked up. She made my day! So appreciate her effort.
I have no idea why anyone would ever shop at this store. I went into to buy a book for Christmas on December 12th. I was told if I paid for it upfront it could be shipped to the store for free. I then get an email saying the book should be there by December 24th, I get no tracking number and no way to actually confirm if this is indeed when it will arrive. I've called the store and all they tell me "if you haven't gotten an email from us it isn't here and there's no way to tell when it will be". The book is about $10 cheaper online with next day shipping. Terrible business model and terrible customer service. People wonder why retail stores go out of business and people switch to buying everything online.
Five stars for LAURA and ALEX in helping us achieve — como se dice — more knowledge on the history of our species. We were about to leave broken hearted and empty handed with not having found our book, but Laura helped explain the order process on how to get this blessed book (Sapiens) into the store. While my engaging girlfriend talked up the staff I noticed a copy of Sapiens nestled safely behind the cash register. We jokingly tried to barter for this copy in question to see if it was actually on hold. After a quick check in their system, Laura confirmed that it was indeed a returned book. BINGO! Hey, Chapters! Do inventory more often!
Nonetheless my girlfriend was so happy she could now enhance her life with the knowledge of our species, so much so that she gifted Laura and Alex a 10-dollar gift card to Cobbs bakery (which she originally tried to use to barter with).
We mid-twenty millennials who rarely venture to a store and buy our books online were delighted by the quality customer service offered by your staff. 5/5 for service and 1/5 for store inventory. Well probably shop online next time.
(the only reason this review is this long is because we had a 30 minute drive home)
If they did not have the book you found, the only left way is Amazon. Large space, lots of books, and kind staffs are distinctive advantages of this store.
Who doesn't love a book store? Great selection and if you don't see it in store, it can be ordered online right there. Also a fabulous selection of gifts for the home, baby, children and in fashion.
Although chapters has provided me with many great memories for over 2 decades a really stupid policy is earning them one star. I wanted to buy a book that was on sale for $25 on their website but didn't want to wait for shipping so I figured I would buy it in store. He rang it up at $45, I said I thought it was $25 and he said that was the online price not the store price. Okay, so I asked if they would price match their own website and he said no they can't do that. What the hell? I asked if they would price match Amazon who was also selling it for $25 and he said no, not in store but on their website they would match it. What's the point? I can just buy it from Amazon and get free shipping. There's no point to buying it from chapters at all then. This is why Amazon is winning and chapters is failing. Ridiculous policies that drive customers to Amazon.
Great store with lots of good stuff, beautiful books and educational toys. Well organized with a big kids section. It is badly missing searing areas though
