Fake advertisement! Charlie's Currency (non) Exchange has displayed the rates of the currencies on a big screen and online too, but when I tried to change € into CA $ (common currencies nothing rare or unusual), they refused the exchange of the money saying they were overstock.
If so, why do not close the exchange for € for that reason? = fake adverisement!

There is no question that they have better rates than most currency houses, however call ahead. Most times when I call, they do not have the currency I want, Mexican Peso, which normally is a common currency when winter approaches They cannot tell me when they will get any, very hit and miss!

I was able to exchange yen to CAD at a very good rate. It was cheaper than exchanging money in Japan.

Went in about a week ago, we were trying to exchange 2k CAD to JPY.

Owner told us that he only had 100k JPY on hand (about $900), we were hesitant to make the exchange as we wanted the convenience of doing everything in one go.

We told him we'd see if another exchange on Robson St had more JPY on hand, stepped outside and made the one call which lasted about 30 seconds since the other place didn't have any JPY on hand.

Went back inside, queued behind the one other couple that made it in the store while we were gone. When we made it back to the counter and told him we'd take whatever he had, he just smirked in a s*** eating grin and said he was all sold out and to call tomorrow. We know for a fact that he still had JPY since the couple ahead of us only asked for USD and RMB

Greasy, condescending experience. Trying to get a better exchange rate on another day I assume or nickel and dime us.

We ended up going with Wise (not affiliated or paid) but I'd recommend going anywhere else if not comfortable with opening an online forex account.

This place gave me two fake 500 mexican peso bills, my fault for not checking properly at the time of receiving, however please be careful when exchanging money from here.
They refused to give me a receipt as well.

Assaulted by owner of Charlie's Currency Exchange

Review:
I feel compelled to share my recent experience at Charlie's Currency Exchange, as it left me feeling extremely disappointed and disrespected. On the evening of Sunday, March 9th, while waiting for my nephew to retrieve his snowboard rental nearby, we were rudely approached by what I assume to be the owner of the establishment.

Despite being on the sidewalk and not obstructing any customers, the owner abruptly demanded that we move away from the window of his business. Keep in mind that we had multiple bikes, a snowboard, and equipment to manage, making it necessary for us to temporarily place our belongings in front of Charlie's Currency Exchange. When I refused to comply with his unreasonable request, he actually went so far as to physically grab my bike handle in an attempt to force me to move.

Although my initial reaction was to confront him, I chose not to engage in a physical altercation and instead threatened to involve the police. Shockingly, he responded callously and without any regard for the situation. This man clearly had no qualms about mistreating customers, displaying a complete lack of respect and professionalism.

To make matters worse, he even directed his aggression towards my nephew, who was a minor at the time. It is beyond cowardly to hide behind the assumed privilege of being a shop owner and verbally assault a young individual who posed no threat.

As a business owner, one should prioritize the safety and well-being of those around them. Unfortunately, this individual failed to recognize this responsibility and abused the perceived power that comes with owning a business. I am currently pursuing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, as I firmly believe that such behavior should not be tolerated or overlooked.

If any other customers have experienced similar disrespect from this establishment, I encourage you to speak up and file a complaint as well. I refuse to let such blatant mistreatment go unnoticed.

There are numerous other currency exchange establishments available that offer better rates and, more importantly, treat their customers with the respect they deserve.

The best currency exchange in terms of inventory of major and minor currencies and rates (better than VBCE, for example), I'm happy that I happen to live nearby. It has been in business at least for a decade. It's great they have a website with up to date rates, and honor that 99% of the time, the 1% of the time was probably due to the sudden fluctuation during the business hours, has been both advantageous and disadvantageous for me, so more than fair. A decade ago, they used to accept Interac, I hope they start that again.

Literally the best rate human FX exchange in Vancouver, the online calculator on the website is what you see is what you get. They don't jank you around like some other places.

Went to change up some Euros, very fast and smooth transaction, will definitely do business again!

I have been to a fair amount of currency exchanges in my life, and I have never been to a place that offered as amazing rates as this Currency Exchange. I was dumbfounded at how close they were to the actual rate that I googled if they were legit (Which they are). I even commented to the guy at the desk that I thought he had made a mistake. Recommend and wish I could give more stars. Well done good sirs, thank you for being decent humans and not rip off your customers.:)
