Chartwell Langley Gardens Retirement Residence

We want to thank Chartwell Langley Gardens for the many years of dedicated service to my mom, Nan Penner, who lived in Langley Gardens for 10 years. First in Independent Living and then moved up to the Long Term Care.
We have nothing but gratitude and thanks to the staff for all the kindness and tender care she received over the years. We have nothing but praise for the entire staff. Particularily, we would like to thank Teresa Alfier and Kim Lougheed and the staff on the third floor for making the last days of my mom's life as comfortable and peaceful as possible. We were treated with such kindness and hospitality as we spent the last days at my mom's bedside. We were given food and drinks and many of the staff came to say how sincerely sorry they were for our loss.

My Mom, Gabriella, has been at CHARTWELL Langley Gardens independant living for 4 years. She is very happy there and the care and activities are good. As mom’s needs change the beauty of this place is my mom can age in place and we can layer on required services as needed. Shout out to Irene Garcia, the Health & Wellness Manager who is kind, caring and in tune with the family. At 87 she’s taken up painting! Who knew?

LG has been great to my mom. As her level of cognitive ability declined they were supportive of our family's decision on how to manage the situation.

My 91 year old mother, Eileen, has been in the loving care of Irene and the staff at Langley Gardens Assisted living for the past 6 months. Everyone has been so kind and helpful from the welcoming process of moving into the complex to the establishing of routines to care for Mom. As her needs have grown, the staff have often take the iniative to help above and beyond the care plan in place and are doing all they can to involve her in activities and help develop social connections to enrich her life. We are so fortunate to have found such a warm, caring environment for Mom. Thank you to all to all the staff for your encouragement and guidance.

Our loved one Joy, has been in care on the third floor of Langley Gardens for four months.
From the day of admission we have felt welcomed. Our input and more importantly that of Joy’s for her complex care continues to be received and respected.
The staff is encouraging and kind helping Joy navigate this stage of her life.
We are extremely grateful that Joy is in a safe, nurturing and inclusive home.

My mother has been at Langley Gardens ML floor for several years now. The thing she talks about the most is the staff. She gets regular visits from them throughout the day, sometimes just to say hi and talk about current events. The pandemic took away her ability to get out for a meal and isolated her from family, but the staff did everything possible to try and maintain some sort of normal. For that we are very grateful. I feel as though Chartwell has made her a part of the family!

When we decided to move from the house to a long term residency, we started to check the various ones around the area. They all did have similar programs and activities. Then we came across Langley Gardens, we did have a tour of same before the search so we did know about it first hand. After the search we came back to Langley Gardens, especially for the tour and the fact that it was in the same area we were used to doing our everyday shopping etc. AND sooo, we did move into Langley Gardens. So happy we did because we found that they have the best staff, the most caring people, the best programs, good food, nice suites, a nice court yard, good parking available both outdoor and underground spaces. The way I have described things so far maybe a little different than when I first moved here. Because of the excitement I felt when I first moved here will be a little different then I feel now, since it has now been 13 months since then, but I'm still very, very happy to be here. The management is exceptional as are the ones in that position. Most people have a favorite, as do i, you know who you are. I cannot believe how all the staff know your name and makes you feel good when they do. I do not Know who is going to read this trubute to langley gardens. I hope you understand what I am trying to say and the heart that I feel for this place and my, suite.
This comes after the above tribute to Langley Gardens and the fact that Covid 19 crept into this world and here. Langley Gardens Management and staff have done a phenomenal job of keeping us safe and secure throughout the pandemic to this point. I have had my 2 vaccine shots and I am grateful for that, amen. I hope and pray that the day will come when we can get back to the way it used to be although I know it will never be quite the same. My mom has been a resident of Langley Gardens for over two years now. She lives in a beautiful independent unit.
Over the last few months mom has had a few hospitalizations and has needed more personal help and care.
I can't begin to explain how wonderful all the staff are. They are always cheery and nothing is too much for them.
It's been a tough year for everyone, especially with all the Covid restrictions, but things are looking up now that every resident is vaccinated.
I have been fortunate enough to have been able to visit my mom when she needed it the most. I have to thank Katherine, Jolene, and Delia for all arranging this.
In closing, I can't imagine a better place for my mom to live.

The staff at Langley Gardens are truly amazing. From the tours of the suites and completing the documents, Mia helped to make the process so much easier. She was able to suggest movers, insurance companies and everything needed to get my mum set up in a seamless fashion.
As we moved my mum during a pandemic, we were concerned as to how she would adjust with the ongoing restrictions due to covid-19. Even though we could not be there to help her adjust to her new surroundings, Delia and her team were there to help her every step of the way. They went to extraordinary lengths to help look after every situation that arose. I cannot say enough about this facility, and am extremely grateful we chose Langley Gardens.

Our mother moved in during the COVID-19 pandemic, which meant that the services we saw available to her when we first visited in early 2020 (pre-pandemic) were very different than those available to her when she moved in June. Like all care facilities, Langley Gardens had to put many pandemic-related restrictions in place to protect their residents. We appreciate the care and concern the staff has shown for our mother over these tough months. We are very happy with their professionalism, prompt communication, and passion for what they do. The pictures they send of Mom having fun lighten our heart, and we look forward to the day when the pandemic is over so she can take part in the much-expanded list of activities that await her when the facility can get back to normal.

Everyone at Langley Gardens has been most helpful. I had a colleague who was there and my experience when visiting was always positive. The staff seemed kind & caring.

My mother-in-law lives at Langley Gardens on the Memory Care floor. We are delighted with her care! The staff are kind, gracious, supportive, and caring. My MIL is happy and content. She enjoys the social activities, the interactions with other residents, and her suite is the perfect size for her. Langley Gardens has excellent COVID protocols in place; they take the pandemic very seriously and put their residents' safety first.

My mom has lived in Langley Gardens for the past seven years and this year moved onto the full care floor. The staff have always made her life enjoyable while providing excellent care, by caring, positive individuals. COVID-19 has made life challenging for our seniors and certainly limited our visits, but through these times I know she is in good hands.

I have had the privilege of seeing first hand the dedication and care residents receive at Langley Gardens. The love and effort the staff put into their jobs is infectious:) I enjoy each and every time I visit!

My husband and I became residents to Chartwell Langley Gardens in 2018. Unfortunately, my husband had to be placed on the Long Term Care Floor and I reside in Independent Living. Same building, different floors.
Staff and residents are very friendly and accommodating and I soon found out that I have a large family in my new home.
My husband receives excellent care and had no problem in settling in.
Staff on the care floor are very friendly, caring, and accommodate to both of us.
We had a stressful residential decision to make but we made the right one as we can now call HOME at Langley Gardens.

I have volunteered for Caroline a couple of times at Langley Gardens and she and the rest of the staff are so friendly and helpful! I would definitely recommend this facility to all of my family and friends! It's such a beautiful setting!

My mom has been in Langley Gardens now for over 3.5 years in LTC. The staff are all very kind to my mom despite her being difficult at times. The admins are in contact with us regularly and I am always notified right away if my mom is ill or there are any changes. My mom is not social, but every once in awhile I get a nice picture where the staff have been able to engage my mom. Everyone has done a great job during COVID-19 and I feel safe going there weekly to see my mom. Everything is always very clean and orderly. In the past I have had a meal with my mom and the food was very good, and the staff were great. The staff helped me celebrate a recent 100th birthday with my mom and it was quite special.i would not hesitate to recommend Langley Gardens to anyone considering going into a care home.

My mom worked here, and she LOVED it. The staff are amazing, and the residents are just the sweetest. There are tons of Christmas events that I helped with, and it was so much fun. She misses her job, as it was her favourite job ever.

Management and staff here are caring, attentive and dedicated to giving residents the individual attentions they need, to make their experience living here as enjoyable as possible. My spouse has worked on the LG care floor, nearly 20 years, and on the occasions I've had the opportunity to visit, the residents are happy and well cared for.

We took our Sunday School group there to sing a couple of years ago and everyone was very welcoming and appreciative. It was very well organized and fun for everyone!

Langley Gardens is a 5/5. I have the privilege of being one of their footcare nurses. I visit numerous facilities in the Lower Mainland and I have found Langley Gardens to be a gem when it comes to care homes. The staff are warm and friendly to their tenants. The Memory Care floor has a warm welcoming feel. Not an empty seat when they play bingo! Today they were munching on caramel apples and reminiscing. The full care unit has a lovely open feel. The staff are happy with each other and love the people they care for. Happy staff equals great leadership and a peaceful place to reside.

The staff at Langley Gardens are exceptional! Our parents were moved to Memory Living a few months ago. This was a big move for them, but they have adapted beautifully. Thank you to the staff for helping them ease into their new home and way of living. We are relieved to know that our parents are getting the care and support they need and we are comforted in knowing that they are safe and happy. We are grateful for the level of care that our parents are receiving from the staff at Langley Gardens. Our parents seem so happy whenever we speak with them. They are thoroughly enjoying the activities and meals they are receiving. On a personal note, the staff at Langley Gardens call me by name and are always willing to help with my requests. We could not ask for more. We are also grateful for the management and staff as they navigate through these challenging times. The Langley Gardens management have put in protocols to keep the staff and residents safe during the COVID pandemic. We appreciate the quick actions they have taken to protect everyone at this seniors residence. Thank you!

Really pleased with the facility and the care my mom is receiving. Lots of fun events and activities to keep her engaged.

My Mom has been at Langley Gardens for about a year now, and I really appreciate the level of care she is receiving. The staff contacts me promptly if anything happens (eg.if she has a fall). They are very proactive in protecting residents and staff from Covid. My Mom has dementia, so is sometimes quite confused about why she is there and why people have to wear masks, but when she is having a good day, she says she likes it and is happy to be there.

My father, who has moderate/severe dementia has been residing in the Memory Living facility at Langley Gardens since December, 2016, when my mother passed away. My family and I have been very happy with the care he has received ever since he moved in, hard on the heels of his wife’s passing (after 66 years of marriage). Staff at ML, formerly known as Empress, have been uniformly kind, caring, and diligent in making sure my father’s quality of life is as positive and homey as it can possibly be. They know him well, chat and laugh with him, are patient and calm: I know they genuinely like and appreciate him for who he is.

Communication between the manager, and the aides of ML, and me has been from the beginning open and two-way; I am always kept in the loop re.any concerns or changes. Langley Gardens has been quickly and decisively proactive from the very beginning of the COVID-19 crisis and families have been updated weekly about everything, from lockdown to mealtime changes. The very fact that there has been zero cases of COVID since April, when there were two in the Assisted Living area who tested positive (neither of whom came down with COVID), is testament to how well Langley Gardens has risen to the crisis and how seriously they took their mandate to provide their residents with the best and safest care possible. In the absence of visiting family members for six months, staff stepped into the gap and ramped up their daily interactions and activities with their charges as we were kept abreast of COVID-friendly tweaks to meals, walks, and small group gatherings.

If my family and I had not felt my father was safe in his residence during this unprecedented pandemic, you can be sure we would have removed him as soon as we were able; the fact that he remains in the care of ML speaks volumes about our trust in them.

My mom has been at Langley Gardens for over 6 years. She is 99 years old now. All the staff have always treated mom with care and dignity. Being almost blind and deaf the staff always walk slowly with her and talk close to her so she knows what is going on. I love that they all know her name and treat her like there own mom or grandma. I feel this is a bright, caring place and my family and I are glad she is in good hands.

I have been providing the residents of Langley gardens with mobility equipment tune ups for a few years now and this is hands down the best staff to work with. Not only is the staff excellent but the residents there are very friendly and always great to talk to.

I would recommend this place to anyone who is thinking about moving here.

My son once went to this place to perform for the old people. I was impressed here. The environment here is very beautiful. The old people looked kind and serene.

I am a local contractor conducting renovation and repair work in Chartwell retirement buildings. I have met and worked with several of the Langley Garden management team and have had nothing but a good experience in my dealings with them. All of the staff that I have come in contact with have been helpful, respectful, and efficient in responding to issues that have arisen while working in this facility.

I have been providing weekly Chair Massage services to the residents and staff of Chartwell Langley Gardens for the past three years. The friendly staff create such a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The lively and cheerful energy of the Recreational Staff (Caroline and Leanne) really sets this place apart! My clients all feel supported and cared for at Langley Gardens. What a wonderful place to live!
