May want to teach your drivers the rules of the road. Just witnessed one of your drivers use a left turn only lane to pass a city bus going straight through and then proceed to speed through a school zone and almost hit a kid at a crosswalk.
Single mother of 3, called two hours ahead of time for my cab to go to work. Cab never showed up. No call or answer when I tried to call in to see where my cab was. I an now late for work and I will not be using this service again.
They are one of the only handicap vans around. I used them to transport my father in a wheel chair to various businesses in Kelowna and my dad said he was really happy with the driver Paul who was courteous, a good conversationalist and a very good safe driver.
Absolutely horrendous service! Reserved a cab on app to go to airport - got a call 5 mins after scheduled pickup time that he was stuck in traffic but on the way. I missed a second call from cabbie soon after and kept calling back but straight to voice-mail. Then I checked app and my ride was canceled and NO message from the cabbie! I called dispatch, they didn't know what happened but had a car down the street they'll send right over! They never showed up and I was on hold for 8 minutes and hung up when my husband got us a cab asap through Kelowna Cabs! This is why people are using Uber.
Got a ride after surgery to get my vehicle. (I'm from out of town) the driver checked the address took me to the wrong location. When I got out she sped off. I tried waving and shouting.she saw me and kept driving away. Disgusting. I suggest you take more care of your riders especially ones leaving a hospital.
I generally always rely on checkmate cabs to get me from point a to point b.
Working late downtown i will sometimes pay for my friends to get home safe.
Tonight (07/30/23) I paid a cab driver to get some friends home safe. I do not know which driver it was but, my friends jumped out and did not recieve the money back from the cab. Which is pretty scummy in my books and definietly has me rethinking on which cab to use going forward.
Terrible. Ordered two cars for a wedding and didn't show up. Called back, was told they had already been (they hadn't) and would be 6/7 minutes for them to come back. So we waited another 13 minutes, then gave up. Save yourself some time and use another company.
Every time I call checkmate, they say 15 -20 minutes. I waited for well over an hour, nobody showed up. Called and they said the driver was 11 minutes away. 25 minutes later nobody showed. I will never use this company again. They are absolutely pathetic for a cab company
We had called from Homesense in Main kelowna and let the dispatch know we had a collapsible trolley we had just purchased. We had to wait about 20 minutes but our driver was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely the better cab company in main Kelowna
Driver calls me says he’d be there “soon” leaves no other context. Doesn’t tell me he’s there and leaves. Then I’m met unprofessional and rude dispatcher who couldn’t help:)
We had such a fabulous experience using Checkmate for our (own) wine tour. Such better value for money doing it this way rather than an established tour. Our driver Rodney was fantastic. Just the right amount of chat, was very punctual and he pointed out some useful info along the way. We used them for 4 hours and hit up 5 wineries, then picked up pizza on the way home. Customer service while booking was also super helpful and friendly! Would definitely book again.
In a nutshell Awful customer service. I wanted to give one star however since the driver was a nice lady and she had no clue what is going on I gave two stars. I called Checkmate Cab to book a cab and asked for a Van car if it is available a day before our trip, since we had couple of big luggages. The guy on phone said that is not a problem and they will provide the service. The Day after when I called them again someone else from same company told me they don’t have any Van cab! I asked for any other available big vehicle they have and was told I will get a SUV and I ended up getting a sedan car!
I normally have a good experience with this company. However, when trying to book a taxi the night before a morning pickup I was told I cannot because I wasn’t going to work. I explained I was going to a work-related workshop (it is literally work, just not at my usual job location) and was refused pre-booking service. I’m not sure what the difference is (perhaps there’s a reasonable explanation), but I do not feel comfortable booking in the morning and risking a late arrival. Unfortunately, I will be booking with an alternative company from now on.
I followed one of their drivers, I did not actually use their services. I would NEVER use their services now:
Driver crossed Yellow and White lines, changed lanes and made turns without signally, cut off another vehicle and was significantly speeding.
I turned off and got away from thise vehicle they were driving so erratically and after cutting off another vehicle I felt I was going to be hit by this driver.
This is sad and pathetic driving from someone in a company vehicle especially seeming as the company's business is to drive customers around.
This happened in Kamloops where this company isn't even based. Now I know when I go to Kelowna I need to avoid driving near this company, let alone ever use their services.
The driver I had on the way to the airport early this morning was fantastic! He was on-time (and very focused on being so), friendly, positive and courteous. As far as I could tell the taxi was immaculate. The cost of the ride was less than I expected and the driver dropped me right off at the departure gate and voluntarily offered instructions about the location of security and the lack of a wait-time there. The ride was a wonderful start to my trip home!
