Chettinad Dosa Palace

I ordered dosa and it was really nice but service is worst during closing. Guy was in so much rush. No extra spoon given.
Charged for extra sambhar. I saw this for the first time in my life that someone charging for extra sambhar + all of the sudden I started feeling cold due to less heat (same my friends were experiencing.

Maybe they should hire a new server (seriously telling)
Girls are far better than guys during service at restaurants.
But I appreciate chef for making good dosa. Spring masala dosa is good here

We ordered 2 dosas. The server lady while bringing our food placed food at the end of the table without telling what it was. As we ordered different dosas we had to open it and check which one is ours. She was rude. Had to wait for long time for paying bill. We waited near cash counter for about 10 minutes. I enjoyed the food, but this lady’s service ruined my whole experience.

It's a quite ill-maintained restraunt both externally and internally. We ordered onion rava mysore masala dosa and two onion rava masala dosas. To start with, the food was quite poorly plated with dosas which looked messed up. The potato filling was quite watery, tasteless and lacked spices. The coconut chutney tasted very stale. I believe the only good thing was the hot water with lemon which helped digest the food we ordered.

First experience with dosas I can say SATISFIED. I loved the environment of the place, the service was great, friendly, and he gave us useful recommendations. The food was delicious, good price-quality ratio.

Food here was much better few months ago than it is now. Service is way too slow due to short staff. Food did not taste that good. They increased prices for some dishes but quality is gone down.

I ordered there tonight for very first time i think my order was the last one before closing and i am really very disappointed. I did pick up my two paneer masala dosa and when i took my very first bite it tasted like they gave me the old stuff it didn't taste fresh at all maybe they just give away the old food to me because of my last order. I felt like I didn't throw dosa on trash i throw my hard earning 30$ to trash really very disappointed ️

Food is good no doubt. But problem is they only have 1 person who will give u menu after 1 hour. After 1 hour they will take your order. After 1 hour you will get your food. Same person doing all jobs. So long waiting

Good south Indian restaurant. I have tried all dosa places in Vancouver and always come back to this place for authentic south indian taste. Short on staff as well and order does take longer to be served.

I'm being kind while giving away 4 stars to this restaurant, and that's only and only due to the fact that the food was extra spicy, the way we like it. We asked for the food to be made extra spicy and they delivered. Otherwise everything else was going against this restaurant. We were the only ones in the whole restaurant during their lunch service and the food still took over 40 mins to reach our table. Imagine the wait time of it gets busy. The atmosphere is very basic with ventilation being an issue. Go for the food, not for the atmosphere.

I had ordered Medhu Vada, Onion Rava Masala Dosa and Mysore Masala Dosa. Food was Good. Service was too slow. Might be because of Holiday.
I would recommend the place.

We’ve been coming to this restaurant for the past 10 years and it has always been an excellent place for South Indian food.

Growing up in India, we enjoyed dosas, idlis etc in Bombay and Madras.

Our meal today was exceptional! We were so impressed that we ordered food for dinner and a take away for my brother.

We’ve known Dylan our server for all the 10 years we’ve been visiting and his understanding of Indian food has always amazed us. He’s a great guy and always cares for his guests.

The only exceptional thing about the place was the Madras filter coffee. Tandoori chicken naan was better than expected. The spicy lamb rolls and the dosa were just average. However, the chicken masala contained mostly just potato with hardly much chicken pieces. The chicken and lamb vindaloo in the dosa had an unbalanced tangy taste. Place wasn't very clean as well.

Hands down BEST PLACE FOR SOUTH INDIAN FOOD and other Indian food. Service is Amazing.sometimes longer wait for food, but totally worth it. Dylan goes above and beyond and makes sure ypu walk out happy!

Home away from home! Just 4 bus stops from my place and I didn't know this treasured food outlet.
I tasted idli, medu vada and garlic Naan.topped it with a chai masala. Phew!
And it all made the difference with Dylan attending. Thank you!

It was Indian but not authentic. Restaurant was clean. Food taste like ready made bottled sauce. Dosa was good.

Great location for tasty south indian varieties. They have wide choices to choose from and they make it fresh. The server was good and the restaurant is spacious. You can visit with your group of friends or family as they have large tables. Parking available just besides the building.

One less star because long waits to get food served after ordering. Overall good experience eating here. Kottu was nice full meal option but keeps getting on and off menu. Our personal favourite is Prawns 65. Green chutney is yum.been to this place for few years. Ambience isn’t great but we prefer tasty food so fine with it. Usually only one server doing everything and keeps changing so new face after few days. Had mixed experience with each. There’s one more in Surrey but haven’t been there yet.

Excellent food and wonderful service. I ordered the onion masala dosa and it was absolutely perfect. We’ll be coming here often!

Ordered two House Dosas with bege korma and butter chicken, two chettinad combos as starters and one rasam. Insane, i love that food delicious. Perfectho!

Note: you should buy a new dishwashing machine though

We had paper masala dosas here. Very tasty! We forgot my son’s water bottle and they properly kept it safe till we came back and picked it up later.

We went for lunch here after ages, hoping to relish the taste of southern Indian flavors we were so used to getting here, in our previous visits. But boy were we in for a bitter surprise, pun intended. The starter, cauliflower 65 had no salt so tasted bland. The next one also followed the same pattern with jaipuri paneer dosa, bland. The dosa even tasted off, most probably due to stale oil used for pan frying. The South Indian paratha appeared and tasted like a North Indian kulcha. The chicken pepper fry tasted like a murgh do pyaza. The chicken biryani we ordered for take out was the only saving grace. Overall we felt like the whole experience was north Indian style south indian dishes, if there is something like that. I hope this was just a one-off thing and we get to taste the food we were used to in the past.

Wow! Every time I pass this place I think I should stop… and today I finally did! AMAZING! Wish I had stopped sooner… this will be our go to dosa place from now on:)

Service and quality of food is not that great. It used to be good but now it is not even worth it.

Ordered on skip the dishes! The food arrived on time and was packed well. We ordered mysore bajji (bonda), palak paneer and naan/ chapati. We received shahi paneer instead. Aside from the mix up, the food/ taste wasn't what was expected and the food did not really taste authentic. The chapati was however very soft and tasty.

Super spicy food. We orderd veg biryani for takeout and added special instructions that we need mild spicy. (ordered less spicy due to a medical condition)
Very disappointed, wasted our money. Not going to order again.

In December 2021 we arrived at 11: 30 for lunch only to find the front door padlocked. We had a sandwich next door at Subway. Today January 10th 2022 we arrived at 11: 30 for lunch as part of our ‘Explore Greater Vancouver’s Dosa Restaurants’. We waited until 11: 45 for the restaurant to open, alas no one arrived. It seems you must give a star rating and since you cannot have no stars we must give it one. There are at least 12 other Dosa dining opportunities so we have struck Chettinad Canada Way off our list.

This dosa restaurant has fake Indian food. The taste is so weak. Try the kingsway dosa place or other better places. I won't be coming here again.

Service here is always amazing, they did a rush order for me once because I told him I needed to get back to work. Very kind and really good food too.

We had the chicken 65, lamb chettinad, and the masala dosa and sambar platter. We weren’t in a hurry, service was friendly and informative, food was excellent. Terrific dining experience.

We wanted to try this place for a long time finally came here. It's a small place but good part is they check if you are fully vaccinated they ask for your vaccine card and verify with the ID. In these tough times one business who I came across who is careful for their customer and staff was this restaurant only. Now we ordered spicy masala vada, ghee masala dosa and prawn masala dosa. The dosa was good but masala was very blant. Chutney and sambar were also blant. The buttermilk was very tasty.

Food is good but it takes them longer than they commit with online/ to go orders.

I prefer takeout over dining in, usually account for 30 minutes delay to avoid waiting around.

This place rlly need a chettinad cook, PLEASE don't get confused with the chettinad name, I'm pretty sure u don't EVEN GET A TASTE OF CHETTINAD IN ANY DISH, save yourself and go somewhere better, don't poison your mouths like us.

Today I had SHAHI CHICKEN. It was the best Chicken I ever had. The creamy sauce was incredibly delicious and gave an excellent taste. Thank you so much for hospitality.

Decent dosas. Long wait time for food. No sustainable packaging for take out - they use styrofoam.

Goat Biryani was special! Reminded me of Biryani I used to have in India. Flavors had settled nicely and the meat pieces were also good.

Also had gun powder masala dosa which was good.

Filter coffee was on the milder side for my taste. But they made it stronger on request.

Overall much better food than other high profile Indian restaurants I have tried in Vancouver. Waiter was also very helpful.

Since it's a small place with limited seating, inform in advance if you gonna come after 7 pm.

The food is really tasty and authentic. I ordered more than 4 dishes here and was always satisfied. Will highly recommend this place for having south Indian food.

The food quality was really low i would say 1/10 i ordered veggie pakoras and pakoras were overly fried and these were in really bad colour as well as there was nothing inside i mean stuffing rather than flour

I visited this place along with my family today. We ordered the Madras filter coffee along with other items. We really liked the coffee. It's worth a try.
We had trouble entering this place with the baby stroller at the front door but the person waiting on the tables immediately assisted us and helped us to get in. He also helped us on our way out.

I really admire there service. I call them late to order dosa in last minutes of closing time.they accept it and prepare it for pickup. Though i didnt find sambhar authentic but it was ok. Atleast they value there customer

The ambience is nice. Would remind you of your south indian corner thw street restaurant. Ask them to spice up your sambhar else it will be bland.

Good flavourful food. Typical South Indian cuisine with some other staple Indian dishes. Be sure to try the house specials on the menu. The portions however could be a bit larger. The Kothu paratha is a must try from here. The food is made quickly and ready for pick within 10-15 minutes.

Currently there is no dine due to COVID-19 restrictions. The restaurant does have a patio that is currently not set up.

Dylen provide the excellent customer service yesterday night. Also, Dosa was amazing. It was great experience for first time visit. 5

Great food a little slow. Still 5 star experience. Don't order it to your house does not travel well.

As expected you will come across a lot of non-Indians flocking in large numbers on such places because they think they are getting to taste authentic Indian dishes. However, as an Indian, I feel that the authenticity of the dishes leaves much to be desired. The service is extremely slow even when the place is not packed with patrons. They do not have a proper HVAC system installed - so the place is either too hot or cold - depending on the time of the year you decide to eat at this restaurant.

The food was awesome on Friday, Sam was polite and respectful however, it took like 30 mins to get my food on the table, probably adding a chef is advisable.

Three things i tried those were at its worse, i have eaten in my life. Worst dosa, bhelpuri and faluda.

Totally disappointing

Worst dosa place ever tried. Gun powder dosa is just powder everywhere on the dosa. They just don’t know about Bhel-puri. How it used to be? I Never had this kind of Faluda kulfi in my life. Worst Faluda kulfi ever.

I expected more. I was a bit disappointed. The service was a bit slow. I also expected authentic South Indian flavour which was missing. They have an impressive number of courses on the menu but I had gone to eat South Indian food and though the food was good it, lacked authenticity. It took 45 minutes to get the food which in my opinion is way too long. It was not packed with people so I am not quite sure what went wrong. Not sure, if I am going back there again.

Very poor quality food and service! We had to wait 1 hour for dinner to be served. There was no one to attend to the orders.

Food was about average, service was terrible as they were grossly understaffed. More attention was being paid to doordash orders and customers in the restaurant were being ignored.

If talk about restaurant food is not a just which will consider but the service also concerned i.e bearly welcomed and the server was super rude we asked him a ketchup and he responded with funny face expression and service was so bad we waited for about 35 min just for our bill you guys should work on costumer service as your food is worth 5stars

We ordered take out several times from here. Their food was great and flavourful. Must try their lamb masala dosa and chicken 65!

This was my first time having dosa and it was a very good experience. It was so tasty and the portions were so large that I couldn’t even finish it. I tried very hard but it was a lot of food! I also had the mango lassi which was creamy and sweet. I would recommend giving it a try and I’d would definitely consider coming back to try the other menu options.

The service was slow almost nonexistent. The dosa itself was decent but the vibdaloo was dull and didnt even really taste like a vibdaloo.

Very slow customer service. Took them half an hour to come to take order. Ignores diners, people started leaving and tired of waiting. Highly mismanaged, short staffed always and food quality and taste not the same under new management.

You guys should be able to make two tea ️ only within 5 minutes of the order especially, when there are only those two customers in the restaurant waiting for only tea without any other snacks even.

I was with a 65 year old lady who was so tired and sleepy and needed an indian tea quickly and she fell asleep waiting for the tea. We felt like we were forced to wait so that the restaurant people think we might get something to eat too.

By the time we got our tea, it was already spread on the tea tray a lot and we got the rest of it.

Not good customer service. Need to improve before the restaurant goes down.

They make very good Dosa and that's it. The restaurant itself needs a facelift. Very basic decor and average customer service. Washroom were filthy. I guess making great Dosa is not enough they should make the restaurant presentable and clean.

I went there today and ordered a masala dosa and veggie samosas, not gonna lie they have longgg waiting times. I had to wait for 25 mins to get my food but it was the worth the wait tho. Everything was freshly cooked and had that typical south Indian taste. Will visit again, DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED

Did not like the place at all. Terrible service and always mixups. I used to like the place few years back but the current service and food at below acceptable.

I was warned not to go because of their late service but I still gave it a try. Waited for so long for food and it wasn't it even worth!

Friendly staff, excellent atmosphere, the food is out of this world. We keep coming back because the food is so good we cant stay away! See you next time!

Saturday 6pm. Sold out of many dishes. We were 5 people, 5th meal arrived at our table 30 after the rest of us had our food so 4 of us had cold dinners while we waited. Service was terrible. Washroom is falling apart. The food is good.

Great taste and quality and polite staff

This is the best Indian restaurant I have ever had in Vancouver. Food is fresh although have to wait a while. Curry is very tasty! I am taking my friends there. We love food and eat every where we go.
