One standout is their hummus platter, a must-try appetizer that's creamy, flavorful, and served with a generous portion of warm pita bread. The entrees are equally impressive; the lamb tagine, slow-cooked to perfection with aromatic spices, and the roasted vegetable platter are personal favorites. Vegetarians and vegans will find a plethora of options that are equally satisfying.

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE vegan restaurant. I am from the States (Washington State) and this amazing prefect vegan restaurant is in Canada (BC - 2 hours away from me), so when I visited Vancouver BC, this is the "only place" I go for breakfast (Benny - vegan version of eggs Benedict), lunch and dinner! The food, service and vibe is awesome and perfect. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS RESTAURANT

I didn't make a reservation not expecting to need one, but clearly I did. It was booked up n we needed to wait for about 30 minutes or so before a table for 4 ppl became available. We were very happy to wait bc we wanted to eat here.

It's only been my second time eating at this restaurant n I've enjoyed it much more. The food is great n the plate comes filled very dome like. So much food n more than I can eat in one sitting even for the friends who joined me.

The only reason I gave the food 4 isn't bc it doesn't taste fantastic, but that I have a very low tolerance for sweetness in food that I expect to be more on the savoury side. I ordered the deep fried oyster mushrooms platter n overall it was superb, but my tastebuds would have preferred less sweetness [it might have been the dressing that was on the salad].

For the average person, it was prob fine or even fantastic. Bc of my diet issues, I spend a lot of time avoiding food with refined sweeteners, which restricts what n how I eat and the amount of sweetness levels I'd enjoy. Just something for me to remember next time I'm here.

You will likely not have the same issues as myself. You'll prob have a very lovely time here with the food. Enjoy!

BTW, I had their Shakshuka on rice from their food truck n it was very good. Recommend this dish.

I can only see this as a lunch place and not a dinner joint. Maybe because I am not vegan/gluten free person or maybe I just don't like hummus much? Idk. But when I think of a vegan restaurant, I seriously do not think of this though.

Note: I was totally loving the ambiance, the aesthetics, and the culture and style of the restaurant. I loved the decor and the art and the menus. I was totally rooting for this place to be amazing.

For the price of a vegetarian restaurant though this is not worth your buck at the end of the day. I think it was more of just a hipster kinda of thing, and it was just targeting to the audience within the area.

I want to say at the end of the meal I was not full, and I didn't feel satisfied at all. And I ordered a Wrap + side + an extra order of Chickpea fries. SIGH. I was totally rooting for you.

I don't seem myself returning except when I am with friends who can only eat vegetarian/gluten free.

8.5/10
Overall this food is tasty with awesome portions and not too unhealthy/greasy (but can be depedning on the day or dish). The prices have increased quite a bit in the past year, and I find the additions to the menu to be quite tasty but not very health focused.

Id love to see some less oily/fried stuff, more veggies and greens and simple protein.

Came here with some locals who hadn’t been before. Two of us Are not vegetarian and two of us are. Everything was delicious, from shawarma burritos, burgers, to French toast and pancakes everything is mouth watering. Their cocktails are all incredible. You can’t go wrong with ChickPea! Check this place out and I guarantee you’ll enjoy it.

Plus they are dog friendly!

Came here recently for my birthday brunch. We made a reservation for two, yet were still sat at a table cramped between two others while there were multiple single people at large tables.

I'd been craving their chickpea fries so I paid extra to have them on the side. They arrived cold and tasted super old, like they had been made the day before and were being re-served. I couldn't even eat them, they were so gross.

My schniztel was really good and fresh, but the waffle underneath was also cold and tasted old. I was super disappointed and I usually love this place!

My favourite restaurant. Large menu, big portions, decent prices.

However, the music is too loud. It’s difficult to hear what your dining partners are saying. This isn’t a nightclub, Chickpea.

I’m not vegan or vegetarian but their vegetarian burger is extremely good. Also, the huge milkshake didn’t make me feel heavy after drinking it.

I just finished the most amazing meal at Chickpea. This is an outstanding vegan restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious. What really stood out from my meal, was my incredible server Gerty. She was polite, friendly and so helpful when it came to modifying my high maintenance pallet. Thank you so much Gerty for your help! I cant wait to return to Chickpea.

An amazing restaurants for Vegans. The ambience and vibes of this place is so soothing yet help. The variety of options in the menu are so good rather it being a completely vegan restaurant. The food in the full platter is good for dinner for 2 people.

I'm sad to say that I tried the falafel platter and baba ganoush and I was not a fan of either. The chickpea fries in the falafel platter were great, but the falafel was incredibly bland when I had it. I was extremely disappointed that it lacked flavour and the salad was nothing special. Overall, I'm very disappointed with the experience here.

Edit: I gave them another chance since I at least liked the fries the first time, so I got just the fries about 3 times. The biggest disappointment was that on two occasions the fries were barely lukewarm when I got them, most of them were cold, and on one occasion there was a lot less sauce than there normally was.

I am aware that there is a labour shortage currently in the restaurant industry so I would hope that it's not normally like this, but I don't think I will come here again because the food quality is very inconsistent from my experience, even for something simple like fries. I just want hot fries with a decent amount of sauce. I think my expectations are reasonable.

Chickpea is one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. Amazing vegan food that any omnivore will enjoy, the helpings are generous, (so you get your money’s worth), and everything on the menu is absolutely delicious. Everything that is, except the shakshuka. It pains me to say this because I love Chickpea and I love shakshuka, but it’s really bad. Like, tastes-like-chef-boyardee-bad. I mean no disrespect to the owners or any of the staff though because everything else about Chickpea is pretty much perfect! Everyone should eat here
17 October 2021 2:11
Easy 5/5! Thank you for the great service and delicious breakfast! We went with the falafel appetizer, bacado sandwich and bacon latkes benechik! I’ll be back for another meal before I head back East!

Nice vegan restaurant near main street. I ordered falafel platter with raspberry kamboocha, it was great! Quick service and courteous staff. Everything was nice, specially liked the music, we'd like to visit again.

Thanks for the delicious food! We love your creative and yummy dishes. We would love your restaurant even more if you offered takeout with Reusables.com – a zero-waste packaging service for food to-go. We really hope you will consider them.

My partner and I have loved Chickpea’s food for years. Tonight was my first time dining out alone with my one year old daughter and the staff couldn’t have been kinder. They picked up dropped toys, waved back every time and were patient and accommodating. I really appreciated it since bringing a toddler out can be a mixed bag. Thanks for making my night!
02 October 2021 18:13
Been here twice. The tofu scramble was so good the first time I had to get it again. Portion size was just right too. Service was a bit slow the second time (I was in a rush the 2nd time) but I think they had some new staff that were just learning the ropes so can't fault them much there. Would try it again with some more people since the share dishes look gigantic.
01 October 2021 7:28
The restaurant didn’t receive the order from Uber eats, but they make one for me anyways, and it’s super fast, in 5 mins. It’s really tasty thank you!
30 September 2021 18:20
This place is great! I tried the Latkes Benechick (Avocado). The portion size was huge! It doesn’t taste identical to a non vegan Benny, but it was dam good. I also had a chai latte with oat milk and I’ve been craving it since I left. Highly recommend for the food, service and adorable decor.

If I can give this restaurant 0 start, I will be more than happy to do. STAFF IS RUDE AND NOT RESPECTFUL AT ALL. You can finds the menu in a different restaurant who will respect and value their customers. My advice to you is to go some where else if you wanted to be respect. Even after asking for the manager, the staff was not going to get the manager in dute. Finally a male came who said he is the manager and was rude too. I asked where is the restaurant manager working so I can call and deal with this. He told me there is no restaurant manager working at this store. A restaurant without someone taking responsibility, run away from it as fast as you can. I have been in food industry for over 8 years and this is the first time I hear there is no restaurant manager.

My first visit, and it will be the first of many. Great menu, including all-day breakfast menu. Fab latke Benechick. Good drip coffee. Went for happy hour and contentedly sat with a jar of local beer and a bowl of their signature chickpea fries in piquante sauce.
19 September 2021 8:22
A great vegetarian choice, but I should say the quality of food is just ok. It is definitely not bad, but it is nothing special.
18 September 2021 7:23
Excellent vegan food, with astonishing creativity. Generous portions and very reasonable prices for what you get. The service is also friendly. Unfortunately the place lacks cleanliness. The plates, the cutlery, the sticky table top, the stained cousins and chairs. Very unfortunate because the food is truly amazing, and while none of us got sick from the lack of cleanliness, I am not sure that I'd ever come back because of that.
14 September 2021 7:45
We just ordered from here and the food was outstanding. High in protein and high in nutrition. No empty carbs in sight like potatoes, rice, or bread. You can easily substitute the pita for chickpea fries. Even if you didn’t do and just simply left out the pita then the portion is still more than enough to fill you up. I couldn’t even finish it and had leftovers. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered a few different dishes but the falafel hummus plate and red beet salad were just amazing. The food tasted good even the next day.
03 September 2021 13:29
It's by far the best vegan meal I've had in Vancouver. I think what I'm impressed about is how they were able to replicate if not elevate regular breakfast meals like Egg Benedict into a wowzalicious Latke's Benechick or the Schnitzel Waffles Benechick (Benedict + chickpeas equals Benechick)! Prices were reasonable.
Latke was $17 and such a huge portion. I think 2 people can eat this. Hubby and I liked it a lot.
The Schnitzel waffle was $16 and it's a good waffle but not as outstanding in my opinion as the latke Benechick. I mean can't compare too - different breakfast meals. I would still recommend the waffle if you like a vegan waffle and chicken kinda meal.
It all depends on what you want or in the mood of for breakfast or lunch or dinner.
They were quite busy so food service was a little bit late (maybe 20 mins) but I'd say it's worth the wait and worth enjoying the food if you're not in a hurry.
Love that they cater to people with sensitivities (or Gluten Free food available etc)
I will def come back to try other dishes.
The two waiters who served us were helpful. The first one helped out move things around because my stroller was pretty wide.
On second thought, it the patio seats are free I think it's best for you if you have a stroller. Just ask them for a high chair.
Anyway, overall a 5 star!

Comfort food! Like the place and the friendly staff, I specially like the falafel and hummus platter, not a fan of the chickpea fries but thats personal taste.only wish they play middle eastern music sometimes to go with the atmosphere
01 September 2021 14:05
Everything my family and I ordered was delicious. Ivd never "fries" like their chickpea fries. I'm vegan and this is approved by yours truly! 10/10 bravo!

Food is great, service however is absolutely horrible.waitresses are all very stuck up and don’t want to work.very pretentious attitude.ordered takeout and i could not imagine having to sit down in the restaurant with these horrendous sad pathetic women.
23 August 2021 4:15
LOVE this place! The hummus plate with falafel spice mix is absolutely incredible! One of our favourite restaurants in Vancouver! It’s nice for a quick stop, takeout, or eating on their patio. Gluten free and vegan options available. Their chickpea fries are amazing too! Highly recommend!
21 August 2021 5:46
Awesome lunch - Shawarma platter, Kasum platter and Falafel pita, Limonana soda.
Massive portions, chickpea fries and salatim, plus hummus and plate specific sauces and pita on the side!

Very reasonable prices, especially when the plates are piled high! Quality food and great service!

Today I went here for the first time, and I’m WISHING I went sooner.

The ambiance was AMAZING! I love the vibes and energy in the restaurant. It’s colourful, cheerful and the staff are welcoming. I love the decor, it’s very “East Vancouver” kitschy and aesthetic. Great music that is young and fun (I like rap so I enjoyed the young, fun music).

The coffee (Turkish) was super authentic! You can tell they make it the proper way. I grew up drinking it and you can just tell Chickpea’s is authentic.

Our meals were so delicious. The Shawarma platter is to die for. The chickpea fries are 11/10, seriously get these! You are missing out if you don’t. If your meal doesn’t include them, go for a small side order. They are light but full of flavour. Healthy fries get an A+ for me. The Benechick (lox) is some of the best vegan brunch in the city. So full of fresh flavours, like salmon lox but you won’t miss the salmon! The side salad is bloody massive! I enjoyed it all. Those chickpea fries I will DREAM about. Did I say get them? GET THEM.

The milkshake was phenomenally delicious. Could’ve been a regular milkshake, a lot of vegan ones are “grainy”. Super smooth and full of strawberry flavour. It’s vegan food done right. Filling, colourful and teaming with flavour.

The staff were so attentive but not overly so. It was a pleasant vibe. I appreciate the authenticity among staff that clearly love their job and want to be there. I love that the staff are close friends and there’s good energy!

This restaurant is our most favorite of all vegan places in the city.the food is amazing, the vibe is great, the service is quick and friendly. I want to try everything they have on the menu, so will be back many more times for sure:)

Great place to get lunch.
Tastes amazing, I enjoyed the fried eggplant hummus plate with lebaneh.

And everything is vegan as well.

I have been to this restaurant multiple times. Food is great but service is horrible. Today I sat there 17 min and the waitress served 2 other tables that were seated after we got there. One table that had there ordervtaken was beside our table and the waitress even looked at us and said be right back and never came back. Sorry that will be the last time I come to this restaurant
06 August 2021 16:16
I have been wanting to try this place for awhile, and definitely didn't have a good experience.
The food was good, but the service was horrible.
They just checked on us once to order our food, we told the server we needed more time, and after that we were ignored for the rest of our time. They restaurant wasn't even busy.
I had to track the server down to order food and to pay our bill. They didn't check on us to see if we were enjoying our food, or if there was anything else we wanted.
So disappointed with the experience.

Decent quantity. Food is Bland In comparison. Their falafel is nothing special. Their Also Overpriced. Their chick pea fries are delicious.
02 August 2021 9:37
I do not consume a plant-based/vegan diet but my girlfriend does and I have been more open-minded about trying plant-based restaurants around Vancouver. I must say, this place is AB. SO. LUTELY AMAZING. I had the Chickebab and was just blown away! Also the chickpea fries were soooo crispy and I need that protein!

Definitely coming back =)
29 July 2021 9:49
Considering I like protein in almost all of my meals this was quite a refreshing change and surprised me. I would Defiantly give another try and I am sure I will not miss my meat so much.
26 July 2021 14:44
The food is amazing! We had two of the platters. The falafel was definitely the tastiest. I have celiac disease and had absolutely no problems with anything. Would definitely suggest this place!
10 May 2021 22:58
Well made, but ultimately too oily to leave me feeling well afterwards. I had the falafel pita; if half the falafel was removed and replaced with grilled veggies, that would have been more what I was expecting. (*there were NO veggies other than lettuce).
Perhaps I ordered the wrong dish, but the others on the menu also sounded fairly fried too.
28 March 2021 13:35
My first experience at chickpea wasn’t good. My husband and I told our server that it’s our first time at chickpea and that we found the menu confusing and when asked to explain a few dishes the server seemed so irritated. Weird.because isn’t it a servers job to explain a menu and dishes to new comers? Anyway, once we decided what we wanted I did not enjoy my meal, I was expecting more flavor and spice. Anyway as a proud vegan I support vegan restaurants but this place isn’t on top of my list.
