Church & State Wines - Oliver

Would have loved to taste the wines here but we got here at 12: 30pm on Wed Aug 9,2023. There were 8 of us. Nobody was in the building when we got in, lights were off, no one greeted us. We walked out to the back and there were 2 people working. One was showing wines to a couple and the other one was finishing up with a couple. I asked what we should do, the woman said to come to the back and the man would take care of us. The man said he would help us he was just finishing up with the couple and left inside and the couple was done. He went inside and never came back. I went inside to look around to see where he was and was nowhere to be found. We waited 20 minutes outside and decided to leave. We could have literally grabbed any wine inside and walked out and no one would have known. Very dissapointed. The woman helping the other couple didn’t even stop us, acknowledge us as we waited, or say anything. Very weird experience. I honestly am not going back that was bad customer service all around. Also forgot to mention a tasting is $15 per person that doesn’t get waived with buying a bottle, so…they lost out of $120 plus possibly bottle purchases. Shame

Coreen was the most lovely host! The wines themselves were absolute quality and very reasonable price! Definitely recommend adding to your wine tour!

Had a lovely time, we had the white and red flights and had a lovely time. The view is stunning, the wine list is expansive and representative, and our host Coreen showed us a lovely time! Would most definitely recommend adding this to your Okanagan wine tour.

I visited Church and State Winery yesterday for the very first time. Thank you Coreen for an amazing tasting.

The wines were amazing! A must try is their Coyote Bowl Syrah.

Tasting fees are non refundable but you get one of their Riedel Crystal Wine glasses as a memento of your visit.

Haven't been there for quite a while, visited recently - totaly different experience since last time, new winemaker, better wines! Loved your single-varietal wines - Merlot, Cab Franc, Syrah! What a skill to showcase them! All accompanied by the best wine expert Will who professionaly guided us through the wines! Loved it!

Great tasting wine at an excellent price point. Nice outdoor serving space with a fun and upbeat gent that served our wine tasting. We left with two cases!

We arrived to find 3 other cars in the parking lot and absolutely no one in the tasting room. Astonishingly, staff couldn’t possibly accommodate us. We couldn’t even talk our way in for a tasting…nor could the couple behind us. We agreed to your terms and went elsewhere…to our mutual delight. Poor customer service is a seed that ultimately delivers rotten fruit. Good luck with that. In a region with wineries every 50 feet, we will continue to go elsewhere.

We had a fantastic time at Church and State! We had a lovely lady, Corinne, walk us through all the great wines. She was so knowledgeable and friendly and made our experience there absolutely first-rate! We’ll definitely encourage others to visit Church and State!

I was early. There were no chairs but Will, the Sommelier, allowed me to use one from inside when I asked. Church and State were not busy and we started right away. A food truck arrived during tasting; chicken sandwiches and pirogies were available. It was Will’s first day and he already was serving up some humour with the wine; btw he prefers to be called a Wine Steward he insists he’s not a Sommelier. The wine was good and I will return.

Fantastic wine tasting experience. Super knowledgeable staff and incredibly friendly. We showed up about a half hour before closing and waited about 10 mins so they could do a tasting with just our group. We never felt rushed to leave though. Would highly recommend going out of the way to visit.

Refused service 45 minutes before closing, was super rude and didn’t even care to welcome us into their space. Wouldn’t recommend many better options in the area. Skip this one for real.

Were very rude and refused service one hour before closing when they did have room like many others who have left reviews, very judgemental, wouldn’t recommend and all being greeted without a smile, instead try burrowing owl or desert hill wineries, much better experience

Very helpful and friendly! I called off season to see if a group of us could come by on a Sunday- unfortunately they were only open Tuesday to Saturday.
However the gentlemen I spoke with gave me a handful of other wineries that were open.
I will definitely be supporting them in the coming months

Extremely disappointed. 15 minutes before closing and we were refused service as we entered into the wine shop. The man in the shop was more interested in closing up the shop. He never even asked why we were entering. The friends we were with had the same experience a couple of months ago. There are many better options in the area.
