Brought in my car with the check engine light on. Told them I had run a scanner and wasn’t sure what to do with the codes. They ran another scanner, cleared the codes that I had cleared a week prior and charged me for it, then told me to “drive around” until they come back on. Came back on within 15 minutes, I called back, and was told I’ll have to just “start throwing money at it until I figure it out” and that he would “call me back with an estimate and plan”. This was 2 weeks ago, I never heard back.

On top of this, my car was bought used and therefor I don’t have the owners manual or code for the radio. Apparently they killed my battery while it was in the shop and had to boost it, told me it wasn’t their problem to fix and now I have to pay another 75 dollars at Volkswagen to get the radio working again.

Thanks for nothing, wouldn’t recommend this shop to anyone.

We broke down on a family vacation, City Auto charged a hefty bill for patchwork repairs and we barely made it home. It was frustrating to pay, not have the issue fixed and have to pay again upon returning home. What they said they had fixed was not. Please explore other options when considering auto repairs.

They located the origin of the "knack"-noises in no time and charged us a really fair price.

Hidden costs and part/component mark-up charges! A part broke during the repair. I paid for the labor and replacement additional part, only to find they had also placed a significant mark-up on the part they broke during the repair. Is this not wrong in principle, also marking up parts that broke during their repair service?

I was recommended to city auto last year to get my newly imported vehicle an out of province inspection and I was not disappointed. Angus and Chad are super honest and transparent with everything. I've been going back to them to get work done on my car since then and I will definitely continue to bring my business here!
