City Avenue Market

Great local grocery shop. They sell produce, meats, and dry goods. They have great variety of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free products as well. I shop there weekly / biweekly as it is convenient with quality goods.

Very reasonable prices, but the deli staff has no idea what "sliced thin" means. Mortadella should not be cut into 2mm slabs.

Great little stop for produce and groceries. Take your time walking the isles, there are hidden gems here that you won’t find at your local big name grocery stores.

Most of the items are overpriced except the produce which is about average. Sometimes there are sales on the produce items. If your just going in for this it's okay, otherwise you will my as well just go to the big chain super markets, where I find the groceries a lot cheaper. Parking can be a bit challenging here, and I don't appreciate the security guards following me around, especially when I'am spending a small fortune here! Not sure if we will be returning.

Usually disappointed with the customer service I received here. I specifically grabbed an item that was on sale, and it didn’t ring up on sale, and I got the clerk and showed her and she agreed with me and the lady at the cash register still wouldn’t change the price and I ask for the manager the manager came and she argued with me, oh somebody move the sign it was 3 feet a product and one sign. There’s no way that somebody move in-front of all that product an error on their part so when I went to go show the manager, the clerk took the sign and rearranged it, so made me look like I was a liar. Again refused to give the price listed. Hugely disappointed in this situation.

Perused the place the other day since I'll be moving nearby soon. A good mix of stuff found at regular supermarkets and healthfood stores. Specialty meats, sausages, canned goods, tasty looking breads, local roasted coffees, lots of delicious looking frozen foods, and they sell my favourite brand of hummus! I'll definitely be back!

I love this little market! Everything is fresh and they carry interesting new items all the time.
It is a bit pricey but worth it

Very nice market. They have a great assortment of groceries that you won't find in large national chain stores. If you like ginger ale, you'll like their selection here.

Store is always clean. Well organized. Aisles are not very wide so social distancing is difficult. Do have security working, but meh they really don't look like they want to be there. Cashiers are always super pleasant. Dividers are up at the checkouts. But a better system for checking out for customers is required.

Used to be my go to market, but I can't seem to get the excellent produce to my car. Plastic produce bags fail. Paper bags fail. Milk jugs fail. All three in a 30 yard trip to my car. They reluctantly gave a credit for the spilled produce, but wouldn't for the 4 liter milk jug that had an obvious manufacturer's defect (LDPE split).

Love shopping here. They carry everything i need. Just wish the floor staff know more about products. Seems that only the manager in the Back " knows' what is coming, on order, & where products are.

I love shopping at this market. Many fresh produce choices at great prices. They also have international food.

Not bad food choices, but overpriced. Really unfriendly and rude staff. Convenient, but I would rather do my grocery shopping at bigger stores that shopping there.

Have started loving this market. It's clean, well priced, located perfectly with ample parking everywhere. The service is pretty good. They hire well. The place isn't too big not too small, just perfect to grab what you need and you can pretty much grab everything you need all at this one place. Fresh produce to meats to canned to packaged foods. Has an ample amount of organic produce and products as well. It's definitely a go to place.

Excellent service, the staff is always helpful, if there is something that you want and they do not have it, they will try to source it for you.

Deli counter is unfortunately very slow. I go here frequently and it's the same every time. They should improve that a little.

I love this place. They have the best prices on produce, especially cherry tomatoes. Also carries a lot of natural and healthy food options.

Great coffee selection from local roasters and great prices too! They have Agro Roasters, Strathcona Coffee, 49th Parallel, Café Artigiano, WeLoveVan, and a few more. They also carry Earnest Ice Cream:)

I really want to like this store, but the staff are not helpful and frankly, rude. The aisles are too narrow at a time when social distancing is a necessity and this is exacerbated by employees stocking during the day. And, when every other store is refusing to allow you to use re-useable bags - they are charging 10c for paper. The Tri-cities are saturated with grocery stores. If I have another bad experience, I'll have to change where I shop.

Shop here at least once a week. Love the selection of healthy choices. Relatively large produce and bakery choices as well. Nice staff. Only my family has noticed is many of the items on their shelves are past due. Some by months. We have discovered stale or decomposing food probably 6-8 times in the past year. *There is never a problem getting a refund or exchange mind you. Well managed place, just wish they would monitor the best before dates better.:)

Went look for some Vegan Sour Cream. They had it. Bought a few other things while we were there.

Nice little shop and you can find some good deals here for fruits and some other stuff too. The choice isn't exactly huge but they have the basics and even some stuff you can't find elsewhere.
Not far from other big shops if you need to top up on anything else you may miss here.

Not impressed with the deli area in this store. I’ve experienced long waits there before where they claim they’ve called someone to help and no one comes. Today I was waiting in line and another customer came in and the woman in the deli decided to help the next customer. When I said that I was waiting first she told me one moment and continued to help the other customer. When I told the cashier at the till she said “oh I’m sorry”, not how can we make this up to you. Bad experience- will avoid shopping there in the future. Bad customer service- bad communication.
