Great neighbourhood grocery store. Stopped by for a few snacks and was delighted by the sale prices! Some deals I scoreds Firm tofu 2/$2, kinnitoos gluten free cookies 2/$4. Wish I had one of these in my neighbourhood, so much nicer than shopping at a big box store. Only downside is the location of the line up for the cashiers. Since you have to line up down the isle there’s a lot of products I missed looking at due to the numerous people in the store. Guess I’ll have to stop by on an off time to explore more. Really good selection of products and produce.

Been going here since they opened and found it a frustrating place the first few years but they've just gotten better and better and now it's my go to place for both products and customer service.

Love the deals here. I bought some stoked oats granola. They have clean washrooms, too. I also get points for shopping here!

Great neighborhood grocery store. Good selection of organic and alternative foods and prices sometimes rival those of larger stores. Check expiry dates though. I am guessing that since they are a smaller store, some products don't move as quickly.

Used to be called Donald's. Now called City Avenue. Small, compact grocery store with a wide variety of goods and sometimes great deals on produce. Because we like to support small business we try to shop here weekly. Best prices for non medicated free run chicken and Avalon dairy. They have organic items.

If you add a walk along the river (in the summer the flowers are beautiful!) or a visit to one the Quay's restaurants or the coffee shop.it makes for a nice day.

Free 2 hr parking on Quayside Drive is only a 5-10 minute walk from here. Bring a wheeled cart if you are buying more than a light bag of groceries.

Great place to shop. Most of the staff are friendly & very helpful. Recommended!

The customer service here is hit-and-miss. Having said that, the produce is really, really good year round, and the prices are reasonable.

My go to store for all things healthy. - they carry gf, keto, vegan, foods from Asia, substitute foods, even FODMAP foods. 5-star!

This store is the only one in Greater Vancouver that carries all my health, beauty and cleaning products. The products I purchased regularly are all natural, biodegradable, vegan, no animal cruelty, but with great prices! They have great selection of produce, like Asian Pears I can’t find in regular grocery stores. The only thing I won’t buy is meat/seafood. It’s quite expensive in my opinion, and there not many choices.

I love the products they carry and the selection.
My only complaint is how rude the staff are.seriously looks like they are miserable and they want to make everyone around them miserable.
Maybe the owners aren't paying them? Who knows but seriously they need to cheat up.

It is a nice market. They have a nice selection of Brazilian products like Açaí, Pao de Queijo, Goiabada, Guarana, Biscoito Povilho, Farofa, Batata Palha and more.
They also have options of fruits and veggies, meat, bread, cheese and basically everything you need in one place. Worth a trip!

Shop there a lot to support local business, but be cautious that sometimes the produces wrapped in bag may not be fresh.

Does everyone check their receipt? It has happened to me 3 times in the recent few months that cashier chose the more expensive option of the same produce. Never the other way around. Although it is always a minor extra cost, perhaps management should spend more time on produce knowledge training of staff.
Also, management can do a better job by monitoring how many people are in line: often there are 5-6 people waiting with just one till open. When asked to open another till by getting one of the stock clerk there to help, the answer from staff is simple "no".

I went here the other day; haven't been here for a few months. It's such a nice market with lots of variety of products I don't see at other grocery chains.
Love that they carry so many meat alternatives, like eggplant tahini burgers! We went on a busy day, so it was quite crowded in there, I was a little uncomfortable as the aisles are so tight and narrow, lots of people.

Overall, very good experience, will be back.

Great prices on produce. I keep coming back for the cheap pomelos. Unfortunately they dedicate most of the store to "health" products and foods. I'd use a 4 letter word starting with S and ending with M to describe the types of things they sell but I don't want my review to get hidden.
There's nothing wrong with GMOs and Organic doesn't mean healthy. Non-GMO organic cookies will still make you a large person. Anyone who says otherwise either doesn't know what they are talking about or is selling you an oil starting with another S word.

We love this little supermarket. Their selection, despite their small size is impressive. For people with dietary restrictions, they have all kinds options for dairy and gluten free as well as vegan. The prices are also excellent for most items, especially produce and fresh goods.

Great market, although it gets crowded on the weekends. I like the selections. Avalon Milk, nice little fresh meats area, lots of gluten free and vegan choices, good deli, great produce selection that is well-maintained, always something neat to find and try.

You know what today they failed. No baskets at the door and I asked a male staff member if I was missing the green beans as I couldn't find any. He kept directing me where to go and I had been there already but made no effort to check and really didn't care it was obvious. Rather fill his chip rack. I thanked him for "almost" helping me. Went over his head. Then dropped tomatoes on the floor because I was trying to manage several items with no basket. Also the Gailan was not fresh. Fail on several levels.

I’ve been shopping here for 8 years. If you’re into high-end artisanal, craft and local products but have a wal-mart budget this is the place for you lol. I spend about 80$ Weekly at the former donalds market (and cook like the photos pictured below). The staff are so friendly, the guy at the deli is the best and will try to get products in if you ask. I really like everything about the store, the staff have known me for so long they joke about how many points I have and when I’ll be able to hit 3000 (which I’ve done probably 10 times since shopping here lol). All in all the best.

This is the exact kind of store you go to if your conventional store doesn’t have a specialty item. You probably won’t find anything you need but if you need organic infant formula then it’s just for you.

They have nice variety of products, lots of organics, prices are not the cheapest but I like to stop by. It is popular among younger clients (20-40)

They have a good selection of the kinds of foods you can't get at the big chain supermarkets. I come here once in a while to get specialty meats, fermented foods, and overpriced designer ice cream.

My favourite supermarket in the area. For a small store they have a great selection of goods products. Lots of interesting, niche items too like imported, and sometimes unusual, bottles of pop.

If you are looking for natural products, good prices, magnesium, mushrooms, vitamins and gluten-free products. This is your place to buy what you need for your kitchen and personal care.

This grocery store always has what I need. Don't let its size fool you- they carry everything! Produce is just as fresh as the big chains and at better prices. Lots of local products as well. Really a hidden gem.

What a great little market. Found a lot of great products in the store. I will be back often to grab some of the special items for stocking my pantry and just to put together a delicious nutritional meal.

I shop here at least once a week and I love it. Fruits and veggies are fresh and prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

Surprisingly huge selection of pantry products, especially compared to chain supermarkets. All your baking/spicing needs. Awesome, friendly staff.

Only 1 till open * 10 plus in line down aisle to rear of store not Social distance as people still shopping in aisle. Opened 2nd til and rather than clear til #1 line (take those waiting for 5-10 minutes) let anyone walk up to 2nd till. VERY POOR MANAGEMENT.

Good quality produce at amazing prices, and I love that they have dairy alternatives. It's like a whole foods or a roots but cheaper.

Cool market, not only for organic but lot’s groceries with a good and worth. Local market, clean, organized and with friendly services. Some prices are the same or lower than Walmart and superstore.front of the pier.

I shop often and one particular Asian cashier doesn’t ever offer me free Sanitizer. She offers everyone but me sanitizer.

It’s like whole foods but smaller. I love their craft ice cream selection the best. They stock earnest and La Glacé among other brands.

You can find pretty good deals on produce here! And interesting selection of foods, super fun to experiment with new ingredients!

Once Donald's and now firmly branded as City Avenue Market, this grocery store is a wonderful gem tucked into the Eastern end of the River Market. When I lived downtown on Columbia, it was my favorite spot to pop in and grab groceries. While they don't have absolutely everything, there is a surprising wealth of interesting, local, and obscure items organized into a medium-sized space. Be sure to check out the cold drinks assortment, the cheeses at the deli counter, and some cool baked goods.

Clean store, good service. Parking was a bit tricky to figure out. Till I parked and walked there then found out where parking for the Market is.

This is wonderful niche market. I come here bi-weekly. It's Part ma and pap's grocery store and part specialty market. I love that they have local, organic and ethical products. However, there could be better signage for where the produce is from. It is a smaller store so they might not have everything you want. But what you do get is the best quality possible.
One thing I would like to see is lactose free yogurt.

They got some interesting products and the people there are always nice. 10/10 would recommend over save on foods or safeway that's nearby.

Good luck to this establishment that has recently changed hands. The product selection is very good with unique and special grocery items. Prices seem pretty good too. Lots of promotional items.

Fresh local products at competitive prices. Shelves are always fully stocked with a great selection with frequent introductions of new products.

I’ve been shopping here for eight years and will always chose City Avenue Market (formerly Donald’s Market) over any other grocery store. It has everything I need, from toiletries to household cleaning and food. The prices are always better than other stores, sometimes $10 cheaper per item. For example, 32oz of Dr. Bronners Castile soap is $18 at this market, and the same item is $27 on Amazon.ca
It doesn’t get better than this place?

A well stocked market with TONS of vegan and specialty selections, including a full line of our PlantBase Foods! The store is great for walking in or driving, is accessible, and the staff is very friendly. We love dealing with these folks as vendors and I love coming here as a customer. We were here on a busy Saturday and Sunday and the lineups were always very light, even though they were busy as heck!

Good bulk section, awesome produce, and all sorts deals. Vega One and Performance sport was on for less than $40 for the large ones as an example of great deals available here.:)

Loved this store, would try to go to Donald's market as often as I could. The prices are reasonable, good selection of organics, produce and fruit.

Great local and organic produce deals and random sales on grocery items. We've gotten plenty of deals here.

I love Donald's market. They have a great selection of natural products (non GMO, organic, gluten free, dairy free, whatever your flavour haha) and they do great markdowns of things that are expiring soon or just expired (because we all know best before dates are not exact) ; so I always take advantage. It's one of the way in which I try new things, when they r heavily discounted bi don't feel bad if I end up not liking it and having to throw it away.

They have lots of specialty items; soaps, natural deodorant, laundry detergent that is eco-friendly, etc. Can't say enough good things about this store!

Great market with lots of organic food, grocery. Is a bit more expensive than others supermarket but it's worth and quality is great.

Great place to shop for local ingredients, huge varieties of groceries, herbs, spices, fruits, cheeses. The personal care section is interesting with handmade, organic products. It's more likely to be a food gallery than a market.
