Climb Base5 (Coquitlam)

It was a bit crowded at 7pm on a Wednesday but otherwise had a great experience at Climb Base5. Jazmine was an awesome and encouraging teacher!

Kids had a great time. Not overpriced, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Would go here again.

Took the lead belay course with my kids and learned so much from them. Jing was an excellent instructor and she provided us with very valuable information and how to be safe at all times. Highly recommend the course.

I've been climbing here for 4 years now and I love the problems and routes that are set. I've been to hive and other gyms but the quality and creativity in the climbs are excellent at b5. They also have a nice community feel and seeing the same faces around all the time has been awesome for making friends and meeting people that are just as stoked as you are.

Nice and fun gym. They have different interesting routes, lots of varied grades. The staff is very friendly and helpful

This place is awesome! My son (8) wanted to take a few of his friends here and so I went with them! It was our first time here and as well as the other kids. Recommend signing their waivers before hand to save time and standing around. And be ready for a parent to help the kids with clipping them on and off the ropes. (We just got the day pass and no assistance- so a parent need to do it for them if the kids are not able to) they recommended one parent for two kids but it was only me with 5 kids but it was manageable as they were easy kids! But this place was so knowledgeable and very friendly and one of the staff members even let us use their party room they had (and yes they throw parties here which is awesome!) because I had food for the kids! The kids being their first time here had the best time and built their confidence over time! They all loved it and highly recommend taking your kids and family here! Great place!

Went with my friend for the first time and really enjoyed ourselves! As a beginner, I find it really easy to be hooked onto the 6 auto belay lanes that they have.

It was about $25 per person for drop in for about 1 hour and 45 mins and find that it was more than enough time. First timers will get complimentary usage of harness and shoes. It was relatively empty on a Friday late afternoon but started getting busy from 6pm onwards.

Will definitely be back!

Friendly staff and atmosphere. Although it does get very crowded around 6 to 8, so if you can avoid that time period it is a very chill place to hang out and enjoy great work out.

We had our daughter's 9th birthday here and it was her first time climbing. The staff did an excellent job of demonstrating the safety measures and making the event fun! The kids felt safe and staff encouraged their bravery.

The party room is well equipped with supplies as well as a fridge/freezer. Help was offered for set up & clean up.

It was an overall great experience and I 100% recommend this place.

Went for the first time with my friend, and even as complete beginners we felt very comfortable and things were simple and straightforward from the start. Can't say enough about our guide Jasmine who was fantastic - giving us timely instruction, excellent motivation and positive reinforcement throughout. 100% would go again and I highly recommend! Thank you for the great experience.

My favourite and go-to climbing gym. Routes are interesting and frequently changed. Staffs are friendly. 90 dollar month price is a plus as well.

Was a nice gym, but they'll take your money.

Me and a few others had our membership renewed after covid lockdowns with no notice (where every other gym would send out multiple notifications) for extended periods of time. When contacted, they reply once or a few times but then ghost you. None of their services were used during this time. No reimbursement, credit, or anything. Be careful when you sign up.

Such a kind, open, social, embracing community + great routes, great workout, great staff members. Overall very positive environment!

Good sets but lacks in training equipment compared to the competition. Would be really nice if they get a training board (moon, kilter)

I love this place because they change the routes (boulder, top rope and lead climbing) on a regular basis which makes it always challenging and keeps me interested. Staff is amazing also. Xoxoxoxo Base 5

Enforcing vac policy.never going here again, fear of losing business so you enforce divisive and unnecessary gov policy that only segregates people. I even saw you were enforcing mask policy when no vac enforcement was in effect. Way to live your life in fear! Clearly you learned nothing from nature and the mountains that you live upon and have forgotten freedom and inclusion. Shame on you!

This is a fantastic climbing gym with 7 autobelaying stations and about 50 other climbing paths. Well ventilated with very nice and friendly service place we loved it and my kids want to go back again.

Love this place, great variety of routes. They offer auto-belay, lead, top rope and bouldering. It's clean, well organised, COVID aware and the staff are absolutely amazing. Great pricing and availabilities. It's my to go gym.

This gym is amazing! It was my first time climbing and I was a little nervous. However the staff were both exceptionally kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back again!

We just held my daughters birthday there on July 25th. The staff at the front desk were excellent and so incredibly helpful! Especially when I was trying to gather everyone together to make sure they had all of their waivers and gear. Both of the girls who helped with my party were absolutely AWESOME. Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend time with one of the girls as I was trying to stay out of the way, but I did get to speak with Aliyah and she was amazing. She was so good with the kids and did such a good job running the party. She knew her stuff. My daughter loved the whole experience and because of that experience we had we will be signing my daughter up for classes in Sept. Thank you to all the staff for making it a special party!

I took the basic climbing course at the Coquitlam location and from the moment I walked in the staff were attentive and helpful. I was brand new and they made me feel comfortable. The instructor was also understanding to me being afraid to climb the full height of the wall on my first attempts

Most of all, the owner Daniel, has displayed a high level of care and integrity to me and I am very grateful and impressed. I would recommend anybody check out this facility!

It's a good place for kid's to play. My daughter had her 8th birthday at this place and she was so enthusiastic. Her friends want to have their birthday party there, too^^

Rock-climbing is my new hobby and the people in this gym are very friendly and accomodating. Professional equipment and atmosphere. I highly recommend it for my fellow rock-cimbers.

I LOVE THIS GYM! The staff here are incredibly friendly, welcoming, patient, and knowledgeable. Routes are fun and get changed out weekly so there is always something new! Definitely one of the best around!

Fun climbing gym with a good mix of routes. Features bouldering, autobelays, top ropes and lead routes. Really outstanding customer service! Both times I've been there, the attendants were knowledgeable, attentive and pleasant.

Great community with awesome and supportive staff. Super good option for birthday parties or scouts, and great summer camps for kids. Plenty of great local events for members too, whether you're a beginner climber or competitive athlete. Great bouldering walls, and selection of auto-belays. Good blend of toprope and lead routes, which are all changed every few weeks.

Poor climbing etiquette by the members so didn't feel very safe compared to other ones I've done.

Great place to chill and have the kids burn some energy under your own supervision. We spent about an hour in there, great staff and atmosphere.

This place is a disaster of kids running around without supervision. There are very limited options if you don’t have an employee reserved to help for the climbs without the auto propelling mechanism and we were not told we would need to do this. Also, it smells like rotten socks and feet.

We were not told we had to reserve a guide ahead of time so we were limited to 6 climbs only, the gym was so busy with little kids we had to wait a long time to use anything. The walls are so close together you almost land on people when coming down and I almost got tangled in someone else's line. Not a great experience.

I loved this gym but I'm so disappointed that the billing for membership is so inflexible. I wanted to take a month off climbing for vacation but was told that I still might be charged normally since it's close to the billing cycle. I understand billing cycles but you'd think they would prorate this on a future month when I'm paying full.but no. I won't be climbing in the next month so I'm paying in full for nothing.: (

It is always a pleasure visiting ClimbBase5 when I am in town visiting family. The sense of community they have been able to develop makes them feel like a part of my family visits. Not only do they have a very positive and welcoming atmosphere, their route setting is creative, challenging, really makes you think and most importantly is fun! The setters seem to do their due diligence to emulate real rock climbing indoors those training for the next real rock season, which is not an easy task. The big walls and forced movement (no broken beta here!) present a wonderful and rewarding challenge at any level you are climbing. It is especially nice to see all walks of life in the gym at any time of day. It is truly a place and sport fun for all ages. Happy sending and happy projecting to all!

Route setting has steadily improved over last 1-2 years. Routes have good flow, challenge, and creativity. Thanks for updating the ropes- much better. Used to climb as third choice in city but these days, choosing it as #1 more often!

We had my kids birthday party here. The instructors were engaged and really helpful for the kids.

Great gym BUT the climbing etiquette is entirely absent! You will be climbing and someone will start leading beside you which is prohibited in most gyms but people here don't seem to care. Also the idea of pulling down every single rope for leading is a extremely upsetting. If you just lead the route and you're not gonna lead it again why pull down the rope? Not everyone leads or can lead some of the harder ones so why pull down the rope? Yesterday I was coming down after TR and because the routes share the same draws this individual started leading as I was coming down. The consideration lacks and the staff doesn't really say much so everyone assumes this type of attitude is ok. Again great gym but the climbers need to taught better

Tried it once - lots of fun! A bit pricey to go casually but if you're committed to going often a membership would be totally worth it

Great top rope/lead climbing, and some pretty good boulder walls. The staff are great and friendly, and normally I would rate this as a 5, but climbing etiquette was pretty bad from tons of kids with non-climber parents.

Great gym! They have everything, lead and top rope, bouldering and auto belay. Big variety of grades. Great for families with kids. And it Doesn’t get crazy busy.

My son had so much fun here. He said that climbing the "crack" was the highlight of his summer.

Walked in first time and got helped by an Ed Sheeran look alike so that was pretty cool. He was very helpful and informative. The place is pretty sweet and I had a fun time climbing for the first time!

Highly recommended. We spent a rainy Saturday here and had a great time. The staff are extremely helpful and the facilities are amazing.

Been going here for over a year now. Good facility. Can get busy on weekends with the kids classes but weekday evenings are great.

For a small suburban gym this place is a real gem when you want to actually get a routes session in instead of standing around fighting for top ropes. It’s not huge but the lead area is rarely too busy so you can get lots done. Route setting is varied and good for the most part.

I do wish the staff would adopt a policy of including climbing etiquette in their orientation. Every time I've gone, there have been kids running around everywhere, including inbetween people belaying and the wall, I see kids swinging on ropes, and running and wrestling on mats. Some rule enforcement by staff would be greatly appreciated.

All the walls are too difficult! There isn't enough chalk on the walls and you will keep slipping!

Prices are too high as well, don't go here.
