Coe Lumber & Building Supply Ltd

I went in to Coe Lumber today to ask if they carry basswood for a carving project I’m working on. The kid behind the counter said he’d never heard of basswood (lime wood). The older white-haired gentleman at the counter without even looking up at me bellowed out “No! ” in the rudest voice imaginable. I asked again, assuming they probably didn’t hear me correctly and once again, got an unbelievably rude and loud “No! ” The kid just shrugged and said, “You heard him. It’s no. And I don’t know what you even want. ” I was shocked that they would speak to a potential paying customer that way. I will be buying all my woodworking supplies from Lee Valley and Dunbar Lumber. I belong to a local woodworking group and will also let them know to avoid these people.

Great store with helpful and friendly staff. Well stocked. Wish they stocked Ucan products though.

This store has pretty much everything for any project you working on. The stuff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, easy to give you a great advice too! As a contractor on Kits I use this building supplies all the time. Thank you guys, keep being awesome!

I looked all over the city for 1”x8” lumber, and this was the only place I could find it. They seem to have just about everything.

The staff at Coe Lumber went out of their way to help me figure out how to stabilize a DIY furniture project I was working on, and cut my shelves that I brought in for $2 a pop. So helpful. I genuinely could not have finished the project without their help. Thank you!

I am so sorry I didn't get his name, but the dude who helped me was around 5'8 and completely went above and beyond. I needed two small pieces of wood to cover the gap under a cupboard where all of my dogs toys were ending up. He immediately was like "yeah let's do this! " and said his dog does the same hahaha, then he quickly found the perfect piece of scrap wood for me with my measurements while I was grabbing some nails (and confirmed the size and piece was good with me). He got one of the clerk's to ring me up and then basically ran out to the back to cut it up to my two pieces for me. Most bubbly and friendly guy who deserves double whatever he's currently making. My family has been using Coe Lumber since I was at least 9 years old (that made me feel old haha)
So when our air conditioning unit needed one of the window panels custom cut I knew this was who I should call first.
It's an odd request but the guys said it wouldn't be a problem and to pop by anytime before 4pm. They only charged a small, very reasonable, fee and had it cut within 10 minutes of my arrival.

I highly recommend them for all of your project needs. The staff are knowledgeable and anytime my dad needed something he could find it here.

Mediocre the wood can be pricey and the people that work their are not very helpful they don't engage in convo their in thir own little world, almost like they didn't care if they had customers or not and they gave wrong directions for whete their nails were.

Wonderful local hardware store. Staff are knowledgeable and customer service is great! Also love the free parking in front and that I can bring in my dog if she's with me.
