Staff are always smiling & very friendly. Doctors are thorough, always asking if I have any questions or concerns & explain everything before it happens.

I have no idea what the name of the vet is that I had my appointment with was as she never introduced herself. I adopted my cat from a shelter on Vancouver Island. I specifically adopted her because I wanted to rescue an older cat - after falling in love with her I learned she required a bit of extra care due to skin and stomach sensitivities, her weight and flea allergy dermatitis.

Before moving to PG, my previous vet mentioned she will require dental surgery after getting resituated. I have been waiting seven months to get into a vet in PG (which is absolutely of no fault to this vet or any other veterinary clinic in town).

I sent in my intake form to CH vet, missed a phone call from them and returned it shortly after. I said who I was and the receptionist told me I had an appointment two days later at a specific time (did not ask me to book an intake appointment or when works for me).

Upon arrival at the clinic a couple waiting for their pet asked if they could use the washroom as they had driven in from Vanderhoof. The receptionist suggested the female client check the gas station next door.

When it was my cats turn for her appointment the vet treated me like I was a child who had no idea what I was talking about. She seemed to have very little interest in my cat's health or my concerns, and honestly appeared to be disgusted by her. She said she is so fat she could not even compete a routine checkup (I have went to three other vet clinics in the past two years and no other vet has made this claim). She suggested I change my cat to a different food so she could lose weight to undergo dental surgery. The vet said "she sensed I was unhappy with what I was hearing. " I began crying as I was upset (at the situation not the vet or the clinic), I explained I was hoping my cat would be receiving dental surgery sooner than later and know helping her lose weight will add time to her receiving surgery. Again, this is not the vet's fault I was just upset knowing my cat is in pain. She then walked out of the room and was gone for at least five minutes - I could hear her talking and laughing loudly with coworkers on the other side of the door.

When she returned, I explained that I was fine with changing her food but she currently eats hypoallergenic food as she has allergies and I wanted to make sure she would not be allergic. The vet closed her laptop and changed the subject.

She asked me how much I feed my cat and what at the beginning of my appointment. She asked me a second time when discussing the food change - she then accused me of lying about how much/ what my cat eats because of how large she is compared to how little she eats.

She asked me if I needed anything else. I asked for advice on how to better wipe my cats butt as she needs extra help due to her size. The vet's response was "buy wipes. " I told her I already have wipes and am looking for tips and tricks. VERBATIM she said, "do you expect to bring your cat here everyday so we can wipe her butt for you? "

She then said, "clearly we aren't getting along" and walked out of the room slamming the door.

My friend took my cat to the vehicle and I stopped at the front desk to talk to the receptionist - it being evidently clear I had been crying. I told her I was not entirely sure what happened at my appointment but I felt very uncomfortable and will be going to another vet. She told me she would let management know and to have a good day then continued texting on her phone.
I rarely write reviews of any kind, but this experience was horrifying. Especially since I had immediate health concerns for my cat that were left unaddressed.

I have since went somewhere else. They suspect my cat has diabetes and are running some tests. I felt heard and they treated my cat and me respectfully.
