Colony Bar Granville

Typical venue in Van, they have few pinball games which are nostalgic & a table top video type game. Service is typical for this type of venue. Wine Wednesday is good value, works out to be close to liquor store pricing. Decent for what it is. They changed their happy hour menu recently & they are trying to elevate their corn dog item, which now kinda sucks, I prefer their last option which was more traditional corn dog presentation. The new version doesn't work for this venue. Service is mediocre, is pretty standard for this type of establishment though. The venue wants to be better than it is. It can do large group bookings, so could be good options from groups larger than 10.

Went there on a Sunday afternoon for a birthday gathering. We all had a lot of fun. It is very spacious with big tables and lots to do. The food was good, everyone loved the fries, the staff were all very friendly, and we all enjoyed playing the arcade games. Overall a really good time.

Had a great time here before my show across the street. My server was amazing, so friendly, and made me feel really welcome! Thank you so much to Ellie for making the otherwise mundane experience of eating a meal fun!

Oh, and definitely get the non alcoholic watermelon mojito, it’s so good!

Food was as bad as the service. Both our fish taco and corn dogs had the same gross processed cheese. Yuck!

Well located busy pub who shows lots of sporting events. Lots of choices for beer. Only four stars because the sounds is terrible during sporting events.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Have been to countless bars and clubs downtown Vancouver and this place has the WORST bouncers I’ve ever encountered. They were SO rude & condescending, with so much attitude. Made us wait in line for a long time while the place barely had any people inside. The bouncers were acting as if they own the whole building and company - our group of 20 for a birthday ended up leaving and taking our business and money else where. Have been to other Good Co locations and have never had any issues. Will never return to any Good Co locations now. If you want to be treated like you’re worthless and talked down to, this is the place to go. (After you stand in line for 30 minutes, of course.)

Need better leadership to hire managers who hold employees accountable. 5 servers chatting literally next to me as i remain unserved for 5 minutes. Other customers approaching the hoard of server girls who are neglecting their tables to order more, get their bills, etc. I can hear other customers mumbling the same experience im having as I type this review at the unmanned bar.

Maybe changing brands every few years isn’t the issue. Need better staff, staff training, customer care.

Bumping! With a great vibe and food, Just wish there were coat racks. Don't nobody wants to be sitting on their Goose.

Horrible service and very rude staff. We spent 800, vip bottle service and they treated us like we didnt matter. Definitely will no go back.

Great staff from front of house all the way to the back! You guys know who you are! The djs and crew that comes in on Fridays is killing it and bringing the vibes. Get turnt!

The vibes are 10/10 each time we visit. Lots of games and seating for all your mates. Derrick at the door was a friendly guy.

This is definitely one of my favourite places to go to downtown. The energy here is immaculate and I always have the best time. Kyle is so amazing and at this point I like going there just to see him! He’s so friendly and welcoming, but don’t get me wrong, all of the staff there are amazing. I will always recommend this place to friends and family!

Came here with a few friends on US Thanksgiving to watch the football games. Our hostess was very friendly and it was a nice atmosphere to watch football. It got real busy toward to end of the afternoon and the place became packed. Overall it was a nice dining experience. We are already planning to come back for Superbowl!

Ordered from uber eats with 30 minutes before closing and they just cancelled my order and did not refund - trash and scam

Worst experience. The staff was really rude and the bartender was complaining that we did not tip and refused us service after we didn't tip him. He was in his late 20s we also will be posting the interaction on social media. Please do not visit this bar and save your money.

Good ambiance but the drinks are pricey. My bf left his jacket there by mistake and I tried calling multiple times from 10am to 5pm, nobody ever answered. I had to go all the way back down there to ask and they couldn’t find it. It would be greatly appreciated if the phones would work so I wouldn’t have to waste my time.

Great vibes and food was decent. My only complaint is the music was so loud I had to scream to be heard

This is much better than Caprice and the place looks to have potential. Go for the drinks and atmosphere because the food is not very good. I had chicken wraps and it was the most basic meal I ever had. Staff is ok but will ignore you 50% of the time and the service is mediocre so nothing special there. The atmosphere is where its at

Decent place with large televisions and a great atmosphere for watching sporting events. Probably not the best place to take a young family in the evenings due to the noise but nice enough during the day.

Good place to go on Tuesday’s, $3 drinks! Staff was amazing! I don’t remember our servers name but she was super sweet and turned down the music and kept checking to make sure we had drinks

Great atmosphere, very professional staff and mouth watering menu. Spent my birthday here and had a blast. Highly recommended.

Nice music choice on Friday, 28th August. Too much waiting time though. Should just have the token system to avoid lines.

Update: Moving from 4 to 5 stars because of Connor! What an amazing bartender. Been there for only two weeks and he already knows my order.

Host was a little rude but lucy completely turned our night around! She is the sweetest person alive and honestly made our experience so fantastic despite the initial discomfort.thank you lucy you deserve the world!

Not sure who told the bouncers they were the kings of Vancouver but they need to get off their high horse and treat their customers nicer than peasants who aren’t worthy of entering their establishment, especially when all I asked was “how long do you think the wait is? ”. I was shook to say the least.

Probably my favourite place to go on Granville! We had Jill as our bartender and she was so much fun to interact with, and super attentive, the service is here is on point. As someone who’s worked in the industry for almost a decade I love when I see a bar or restaurant loving up to its full potential with amazing staff and a wonderful atmosphere!

Came in for a quick lunch but was wowed by the amazing service & food! Our server Makaela was a shining star. She was so fun & personable but was SPOT ON with her service. Drinks & food came timely. The Shrimp Fettucini was hot & packed with flavour, & the Mango Margarita was to die for. Darren one of the managers dropped by the table while we were eating to introduce himself & he had us laughing for the rest of the night. He's definitely someone I'm going to go out of my way to visit the next time we are in the city. Thank you Mikaela, Darren & the rest of the team for your excellent work:)!

Will never return to this restaurant, worst service ever. The server said one of my friend didn’t pay yet so I paid for her, but the next day I asked my friend she said she paid already and showed me the receipt. So I went to the restaurant again to ask for refund, but the manager said they cannot do it for me and ask me to write a email. Ps the manager said she will not look over the transactions right now coz it will take her 2 hours to do so. Then why would I have to spend almost 2 hours travelling time to come here. After writing an email to them, they said it’s not their mistake.but how come 10 ppl went but on the receipt there’s 11 bills. (they didn’t even recognize it so I have to point it out) why I have spend this much time just asking for a refund which we got double charged such a waste of my time. Hopefully I’ll get my refund asap

My friends and I have been coming to Colony for about a month now and last night definitely confirmed it as our favourite spot. The bouncer Chris was so nice and our server Emily was so sweet. They were both so attentive throughout the night and we’re definitely requesting Emily as our server next time we come!

The vibe here is super cool! But that's about it that I'd recommend. The drinks are standard and not the cheapest given that we went during happy hour. They also need mor servers because ours took forever each time we needed something. My friends I went with had food from the happy hour and they said it was just okay. I had the macaron ice cream sandwiches (the only item on their dessert menu), and I'd never order it again. They served it on a napkin on a plate, and the napkin just got soggy! It was so gross. The ice cream sandwiches themselves were like two items that didn't complement each other. The macaron shells were delicious and had a salted caramel flavour. The ice cream tasted like whipped air. I'd only go back again for the vibe and atmosphere but otherwise the food and drinks were nothing memorable.

Arrived after the whitecaps game around 4pm. Hostess at the front seated us in a booth at the back. Said we had to be out by 730 because of a reservation, no problem. Took 20 minutes to get a server. At 15 mins in one of our crew went to the bar, ordered our drinks and brought them back by drink tray. At 20 mins our server showed, took another drink order and we ordered food. Food was good, but from then on it was 15 mins from order time to receive drinks. Dont go to colony during the day or early evening, service is relatively non existent. But i hear it is a great place at night.

Nice bar with great deals on Tapped out Tuesdays ($3 draft beer). Lots of good sized screens for sports.

Only one men's bathroom (3 urinals and 2 stalls) in the bar with capacity over 400.

Trivia on Wednesday is fun, but they should have shut off or at least turned down the music in the trivia section.

We reserved for a large group birthday party on a Saturday night. When we didn’t arrive with the entire group the server was insistent on knowing when the rest of our group would be arriving, and was not very friendly.
From there the service was extremely slow - over the course of three hours we were only approached to order food or drinks twice. At one point the server did apologize for the slow service but it continued after. The space is great and a place I would like to check out, but experiencing such horrendous service means it’s not worth my time.

Updated 9/25/2019: Colony has offered me $25 and a reservation to make this up to me. Considering my fiancee and I spent over $75 on a few drinks and an appy, I turned down the offer as it will barely cover another two drinks.

Did not like this place in the slightest. The layout is awkward, very crowded and very loud. At least half the entire place was reserved and at least half the reserved tables were empty. Not sure why you would want to have a table at a place that’s so loud and seems like it should be a nightclub. Several tables that were reserved for the same person at a specific time still didn’t show quite some time past their time and still didn’t show up when we left. Not enough chairs for the people who actually want to have a beer and eat some food at a table so you are forced to eat and stand. The place was really warm and my friends and I were super hot there and uncomfortable. The server was one of the worst I have ever dealt with and the place has horrible service and took forever. She seemed irritated when we asked for the menu and she wasn’t friendly and didn’t even smile once. She dropped the machine and made sounds of frustration and my card wouldn’t work because something disconnected from the machine and it wouldn’t dial. Only 2 stars because the menu was appealing but the food portion was really small and quite pricey for what you are receiving.

Large, spacious, a ton of games, and a decent selection of food and drinks. The ambience and location really make the place worthwhile. Fun for a date or group of friends.

Unbelievable that they have an free indoor bocce court in downtown Vancouver.

The idea of this place is great, however, it had some of the worst food I have ever experienced in Vancouver. The poor food was echoed by all individuals at my table. I have never experienced such poor nachos ever! The chips were burnt to the point that they crumbled away when trying to pick up a piece, the 'extra' cheese was non-existent, there was maybe a tablespoon of toppings. When we asked the server about the lack of toppings and cheese she said that was how they come and offered us a side of onions, olives, peppers which was nice, except they part where the chips couldn't be used to hold the toppings as they crumbled away. The Glory Bowl salad had minimal quinoa, but did include a nice piece of hair! The water that initially came to our table also had a juicy fly in it as well. Definitely not the quality I would expect for this price point!

This place is amazing. I went on a Tuesday night and it was 3$ beers! Unbelievable price! You could choose from like 10 beers too! They have TONS of games, from pinball to bochee ball, pool and what I think was table hockey. Everything 8s new and modern. 2 floors, but tons of free space, it doesn't feel packed. 1 star down because the music was too loud to talk to someone right beside me.

Had fun hanging out with friends here. Staff was great and friendly. The place gets a bit loud and difficult to chat but the trivia night was fun. Ordered the rainbow glory bowl and it was really delicious. They only have a few dishes to choose from but it’s expected from a bar.

For a new establishment that allows kids in I was shocked and disappointed to find out they did not have a change table. Otherwise we had fun having drinks and playing with my son with bocce and the basketball game. Servers were really great also.

Their wings are probably the best I've ever tasted HOWEVER they have limited flavours. Make sure you get the ranch dip <3

I've been here twice now. Both times I've had excellent food so that's always a place. The wait staff is friendly, which is always a plus. I just love the ambience of Colony. Plus you can play pool, fooseball, bocce, pinball, street fighter, etc. Its a very fun place to go for drinks and have some activities.

Awful experience, stay away from here. We arrived at 10: 45 on a Saturday night and stayed in line for 50 minutes and didn't get much closer to the door because people ahead us kept getting friends in off the sidewalk. One person from our group spoke to bouncers, and said they wont do anything. Ended up drinking at 2 Parrots after burning almost an hour of our night. Thanks for nothing.

Awesome place for groups. Out waitress Michelle was the best. She was on ball with our orders, was social, remembered everyone's names (we were a group of 20), super helpful all night. I would not have pulled off the birthday party for my fiancé without her. Can't really comment on the food cause I didn't eat any, but the drinks were awesome. Tues is tap night! 3$ tap drinks was an awesome deal. Our friends and family really enjoy the drinks. Also the arcade and games was great for everyone to do something different. Thank you to the Colony Events team for helping me get everything up so smoothly. Will definitely be back.

One of the best new additions to the Granville strip. I came thru with a couple of buddies on Saturday night, line up was a little nuts but definitely worth the wait. I found the all the staff to be great and really friendly. Drinks were fast and served with a smile. Tons to do in the bar and it draws a great crowd (a bit young tho). Door guys were also pretty great to deal with.unlike some of the other door guys down the street. Highly recommended.
