Colourstrings Conservatory of Music

My children have been a part of Colourstrings for many years. I have found the Music and Movement program to be comprehensive and early development centred. The program has been foundational in teaching music reading before my daughter started learning an instrument. My daughter has now moved on to guitar lessons at Colourstrings r. She loves what she's learning and enjoys making up her own music or finding ways to play with the guitar. Thanks to Colourstrings, my children have developed a love of music that will be a great resource for them for a lifetime. Laura, Dougie, Risa, Andrew, and Gabriella have made music learning so much fun and engaging. My son is always excited to go to his weekly class. Thank you for creating a wonderful music school community!

Our daughter has been a violin student at Colour Strings for over five years. She has come a long way on this musical journey, gaining skills and an overall appreciation for music. The real magic to Colour Strings comes from Laura's rare and boundless enthusiasm and how this energy touches everyone within her aura. She is truly one of the most positive people I have ever met.

Our family has been part of Colourstrings Conservatory for over 8 years and we feel extremely grateful to learn alongside incredible teachers, staff and families, some of whom are now dear friends. Laura and Dougie put their heart and soul into the school and I am always inspired by their level of energy, creativity and ability to remember so many names! My children started in the Music and Movement classes at 6 months old and are each in their own lessons with piano teacher Annie and guitar teacher Gabriella. It is a true gift to see their interest and confidence in music grow over the years. We look forward to many more years, and skills learned, at Colourstrings.

Colourstrings Conservatory is a fantastic place for students of all ages to immerse themselves in music and to develop their creative and artistic self. There are a diverse array of offerings from music and movement group classes to choirs and private instrumental lessons for violin, piano, guitar, and more.

I am incredibly grateful to have found Colourstrings and Laura as a viola teacher! It has made a world of a difference in my daughter's musical journey. Laura's enthusiasm for music is contagious, it is so heartwarming (and amazing!) to see my daughter excited to attend lessons and eager to practice at home:) Highly recommend Colourstrings for inspiring music education for their young family members!

Both of my kids started their music journey with colourstrings since they were 8-10months old. Laura's class is particularly super engaging and fun. Unlike other music programs in the city, colourstrings program divides the class by the kids age group. And so the songs and activities are tailored for their age. Its truly one of a kind. I highly recommend this program for parents who are looking for music class for kids 0-5

Growing up playing classical music on a variety of instruments I know a good music school when I find one, and Colourstrings is a true musical gift in Vancouver. What a wonderful place for kids to learn and love music. Can't recommend the music and movement class or choir enough!

We have been with Colourstrings since our daughter was 2 years old. She has attended various summer camps, taken ukulele and piano lessons. The staff is very professional, friendly, and talented and our daughters musical growth has been fun to watch. We highly recommend Colourstrings for any age level.

My children have taken music & movement and then piano lessons at the school for many years now. As a musician myself, I was impressed by the quality of the teaching from the very early years. It encompasses a high level of musicianship with an understanding of child development. The kids are always put first.

Our children have attended Colourstrings Conservatory for close to 7 years now and we have seen our two boys' love for music grow continuously. Our eldest son started with the Music and Movement program from early on and now plays the guitar. The investment in the early years is well worth it. Unlike other classes we have tried, once our boys started, they ask us to go back and looked forward to class. Laura has a playful way of engaging the children in learning music and rhythm. My children learned to understand timing and beat through stimulating musical activities. They learned about famous composers, unique instruments, and got to hear instruments being played first hand from Laura in the classroom each class. Laura's musical gift and talent, along with her passion she puts into each class, are unmatched. Every time I speak to her I learn more about her experience and background. Her professional, international background in music and orchestra set her apart. She not only includes musical instruments in the class but will teach your child to sing! My younger son is taking another level of her class and will be enrolling for the 4th time. He is a hard guy to get to go to class but he runs to Laura's classes without saying goodbye! The other teachers we have experienced at Colourstrings with our elder son are excellent too. My husband has decided to learn guitar there too as a result of seeing the progress of our sons and the welcoming vibe at Colourstrings.

We absolutely love colourstrings! My kids have been attending classes for about 7 years now! The instructors are amazing! The music and movement classes were great and my kids got lots of compliments when singing for fun that they could do it well and it was because of those classes. My oldest takes violin now and enjoys it because she got the musical start before learning and instrument! This really is a wonderful music class and I highly recommend it!

I love this music program. My son (6) has been doing it for 2 years, and it has given him a fantastic grounding in singing, rhythms, aural skills, and even beginning to read music notation. The instructors are extremely good musicians and teachers, and everyone there is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
