I come here to play pool from time to time. The tables are good and solid. The biggest problem is with the reception. There is a guy who is working at the pool tables always. Very weird and rude. Complains about every little detail

This is a beautiful place but the fact that they dont let you buy a drink and have it beside your pool table while you play it s a detraction
Vanocuver needs more places to entertain not only kids but adults also.

This place was pretty weird in their business practices. Me and 3 other friends went to play pool initially, when one other friend joined our pool table to watch and eventually rotate the pool staff came to tell us only 4 people could be at each table. Our friend couldn’t hang out with us, which was pretty dumb. People come here to hang out with their friends! We had to book another table to hang out together. W

Later, when I wanted to get some water, the guy told me their drink and food bar is only cash… I mean this is a place for mostly young people to hang out in their free time, young people don’t tend to carry cash. Just to get water I had to withdraw money and pay an atm fee. Seems super odd to not have a debit or credit machine especially when other services accept card in the same location (pool, bowling). Not to mention it’s 2022, I mean what retail/, consumer business doesn’t carry card machines anymore?

Another problem we faced was this place refusing to split the bill and allow us to pay equally. Sure, I get it if you have a group of 30+ but we were 5 people and they didn’t let us split the bill.

Overall a decent place but weird business practices make it somewhat inconvenient.

It's not like you expect this place to be super modern, but it should at least accept card payments at the concession, instead of a third party ATM with a super high user fee that you're forced to use.

Also, don't expect customer service any better than somome who you can tell doesn't want to be there, and won't make eye contact with you.

For pool it's quite a nice place (never tried the bowling). It's never too busy and great for the price. I constantly recommend people to go check it out

We loved learning how to play 5-pin! We wish we had this in the states! Super fun way to escape the heat downstairs in this retro-vibe place! Would totally recommend.

I would strongly not suggest for groups of people. Billiards will only allow 4 people at one table so they wanted to separate my family of 5 even though 1 was not playing… hard to find family friendly places in this city. …Sad.

Most of the good reviews comment on the physical environment, but not the customer service. If the staff are reading this, you know who you are. Came here a couple days ago in the evening for pool. We were a large group and was still deciding and discussing how to pay for pool amongst ourselves. The staff at the pool station overheard and proceeded to imply through his attitude that we would break the 4 person/pool table rule and insisting that "no joke, we are serious", anyone playing and non-playing is counted in the 4/person.

Business service rules are one thing, but making assumptions and wrongfully accusing people of ill-intent are another.

He is lucky that we did not decide to embarrass him and walk out on the spot. I came here several times in the past years, but will never recommend or come back ever again.

Can’t comment on the bowling which seems to be a rip off but pool was a great deal. Friends and I paid 10$ each splitting the cost 4 ways for 2 hours of pool plus another 5 for some darts fun!

Has nice staff, nice place, nice price and shoes look like they are new, really an awesome place to hang out or (have a date ;) ) it’s really fun, definitely will come back more than the two times that I have already gone, thank you for the ride back in time, and keep being awesome!

Fun times! 49$/hr, 4$ per pair of rental shoe. Drinks are cash only and bowling is 5 pin bowling with 3 turns a hit. Weird, but fun! Definitely recommend just doing 30 minutes as 1hr is really long. Overall would recommend to bring a group of friends along.

I went there without covid ID and they didn't let us come in. Government allowed bowling, salon, library, cloth shop, and hotel etc where we can go without it. I am very disappointed. Hope they read the new rules more carefully. Thank you

All fun and quite a vintage place, but the guys working there could be a lot more friendlier, especially when asking for such high prices. They also grabbed our ID and phones quite aggressively and weirdly, which is a no-no during a pandemic

An old place but really fun and nostalgic, you can't drink while bowling, but there is bar with seats

Great pool tables, cozy place, however, the Asian employee in charge of the pool tables is not the best, I pulled my mask down just for 5 Seconds, it was enough for him to come and tell me and my friends that the next time he’ll kick us out!

I love the place! Owner is so kind and sweet, went in one night but they were closing (due to covid measures) and he promised to not charge us for shoes the next time we come in. Came in the night after and got charged half an hour for an hour play and no charge on shoes! Definitely recommend for a fun time with friends and family.

It was very nice to be able to enjoy 5 pin bowling and beer at a very classic spot. I had no idea that this cute bowling, my first experience, would be so attractive.

Great location for entertainment and bowling. Although I will take off one star due to its parking availability. Finding parking near the location is hard and takes a long time. I suggest potential customers to use public transportation or Uber to access this location. Other than that, this place offers a lot of variety for your needs, such as bowling and pool. It’s pricing is acceptable but not on the cheap side.

Place is good.as of 2021.less people now go and you can have fun and be noisy as you want.play as you want.we mostly go here to play billiards. 15/h
if normal days like before pandemic its like a bar noise here and play bowling and billiards with group of friends.the place is very alive.they serve food and drink ask them for more info.they are ok.

I really enjoyed playing bowling there, even though everything is super old, it has its unique atmosphere!

We were very impressed with the Commodore Lanes staff.

Facility was kept extremely clean & staff were extremely diligent in sanitizing surfaces & bowling shoes with disinfectants, during this COVID time.

Thank you Commodore staff! We felt very safe and had lots of fun. Very friendly service too.

Such a cool little gem on Granville Street. Super friendly service and a really fun way to pass a few hours downtown.

Only 9-pin bowling, but fun nonetheless. Billiards was fun, too. Serves common beers, which was a nice touch. Pricing is average: not cheap, not expensive.

What fun! Great covid rules in place. Without having gone bowling for a while, $50 an hour to rent the lane felt expensive HOWEVER we were not done our 2nd game when the hour was up but they let us stay and finish for free bc no one else was waiting. Fantastic customer service the lanes and balls were in great shape and their units keep score for you. You can purchase alcohol but not drink in you playing area but close enough to still feel included.

Had a worst customer service experience there and it's so sad because it was our second time there and we love this place vintage vibe. We booked two lanes and paid 112CAD for everything (and that is pretty expensive having in mind that shoes are so worn out and etc.) but anyway here is what happened. Old man who said he's the manager there saw me drinking my coffee from a jar bottle and said to put it down, which I did and left it on the table and went to meet my friend. After I came back my jar was gone, and I went to him to ask if he saw who took it, and he was like "yes, that's me" and started to loudly argue with me and didn't give it back. I talked with younger guy at the till after and he just apologized but couldn't do anything because old man already dumped it out and he also couldn't give me any discount. Never coming back and don't recommend anyone to go there, save your money for a better place!

Love the atmosphere in here. The place feels like a time capsule. They could improve the lighting a little and make it a little more suggestive. Disappointed that it was just small bowling balls and not regular sized. We had a fun time though.

The cost was reasonable, it was well maintained and a fun night out on Granville. Would highly recommend for a simple effective bit of fun.

I won’t recommend this place at all! I would suggest that u keep far far away from this place, the old man working there who told me he’s the owner was so rude to me, we were a group drinking about 7 beers and he told us that we have to leave cause he needs the place for other costumers who will order more so he can make more money cause this way he won’t make enough money for his rent! He yelled at me while arguing with me over ordering more or else we have to leave! Honestly this place is so old and even the bowling equipments are so small and hasn’t been updated for so long!
I won’t go there never ever again.and as I told him that I’ll right this review and he said I can write what ever I wanna right, I’m just saying it’s up to u.

Great place for a date or a group. Lots of Lanes and many pool tables. Easy to grab a beer and drink between bowls.

Atmosphere fits a bowling alley perfectly with Nick nacks and such over the walls. Priced appropriately for a place right dt on Granville.

Was nice to go bowling but way too expensive at this place, but I guess it being vancouver one would expect to pay top dollsr even for an outdated facility. I spent 50 or bucks for a half an hour of bowling and ahoe rental. As prices are not even on website call to inquire. Ill just go somewhere else next time. Other places 20 buck for an hour or 40 for 2. Just saying.

I thought it was a nice place, but the people who work there were very rude to me and my friends, saying there was no space for our party of 15, they also said that those who would not be bowling (4 people) should leave the premises.
What kind of bowling alley asks their guests to leave or make their friends leave even if there is space? Billiards people were the same. What a shame, won't be coming back.

This place is always busy, and for good reason. It's one of the only pool/bowling places left in downtown. It's very quirky, and old school. Some might not like the old school vibe, but my group loved it. Everything is a little out dated, but if you don't mind you can still have a great time. Prices for pool is $13 an hour for weekdays and $15 an hour for weekends. Max is 6 per table.

Went over after dinner and it was filled with people. On Sunday it cost us about $20 for over an hour and we managed to get 5 billiard games in. There are bowling lanes and the place has a long history. Very comfortable mood and lighting wasn't too dark or too bright. Nice family friendly location to hang out and play some games.
