The portions are small but the food tastes good. Unfortunately the male waiter serving us was rude but the rest of waiters seemed nice.
23 September 2023 4:01
Gosh the dishes very very small (i understand that is the way Spanish Tapas are) BUT why it’s super expensive! Come on I spent with my friends almost $300 and we left hungry! Plus it was very crowded there is no way to set and relax and have conversation! I don’t recommend the place specifically for those with limited budget.
18 September 2023 22:41
My wife and I had some cocktails & snacks last night and, as always, Como delivers. Great food, service is always tight and a great vibe in the room. A staple for Vancouver!
15 September 2023 0:36
One of the more amazing and intimate places to chat and dine around amazing tapas. Definitely recommend the steak, pork loin, potato bravas, and garlic shrimp. If you’re unsure, just ask for the most popular dishes and they’ll take care of you. Reservations recommended.

I first dined at Como Taperia when I found out that one of the partners was a friend of mine Shaun Layton from being in the restaurant industry. He is amazing and well-experienced in all aspects from being creative with his talents and charm to treating ALL his guests with VIP service and making his guests welcome.

So when I went to visit him and dine at Como Taperia, he and his team exceeded all my expectations and this restaurant is one of my favourites. The creative genius from the Chef’s menu is delicious and offers a unique variety of taps dishes and an emphasis on sharing. One of my ultimate favourite dishes is the Chef’s chilli peppers and a must order as well as the croquettes to start. The Spanish paella is another delicious dish and anything from their specialty meat dishes. Since Shaun is very knowledgeable about spirits and wine Como Taperia has unique wine selections and all priced reasonably. The servers are friendly and professional and know the menu to offer suggestions to what the customer is in the mood to try. The restaurant opens at 4pm and a lineup of eager customers to get in and a constant flow of customers throughout the night.

I went recently for my Birthday with two dear friends who hadn’t been before and after our amazing fun evening and special VIP attention from my friend Shaun, he gained two more customers and their new favourite restaurant. I can always count on a memorial experience at Como Taperia and highly recommend anyone to visit and enjoy all that Como Taperia has to offer.
Thank you to Shaun and his team as I really appreciate it.

Delicious food, prompt service and an electric atmosphere, particularly sitting at the kitchen bar watching the talented cooks make everyone's meal
24 August 2023 12:03
Amazing work folks.fast service, great bartending (aug 21), food was very tasty and good vibe.glad we got seated right at the bar for date night.we'll be back!
07 August 2023 16:42
This is the best place to go if you like to try a variety of things. Really yummy dishes for sharing and great drinks! Cool atmosphere and vibe. There's usually a decent wait here, but you can have a drink at the bar and olives or other little snacks while you wait for a table which is nice. Pretty sure they take reservations if you plan ahead.
09 August 2022 14:09
What a great spot! Wine list is long and varied. Great happy hour and an even better kitchen! Loved everything about this place.
27 July 2022 9:11
We went there a little close to the closing time and they accommodated us right away. Our server Mike made our night. He made the right recommendations and was kind. The food is perfect for a tapas style experience.
Everything tasted fresh and we loved our overall experience.
22 July 2022 20:33
Pretty good food and drinks. Recommend getting the tinned sardines, it was delicious. Food tad bit on the saltier side. Also liked the tortilla and the patatas bravas
19 July 2022 0:12
If you are looking for spanish restaurant experience don’t go there. Overpriced, bad quality, bad service and bad experience in general. Totally a scam
15 July 2022 21:01
Loved out server, Javier! Great atmosphere, delicious marinated olives, sardines with chips (very good! Especially if you like the taste of tuna), and the best honey glazed eggplant.
05 July 2022 23:04
Fabulous tapas that really reminded us of Spain. Our server, Olivia, was truly a gem. We're so glad we stumbled across this restaurant.
20 June 2022 3:28
The service was good and friendly. The food was tasty, but nothing special or out of the box. Too pricey!
25 May 2022 20:48
I love this place. Always great food and service. The must haves are:
The torreznos, the patatas bravas, the bikini sando, and shishito peppers. The rest of the menu is great, but I always get these dishes to start. I love the Vermut on tap, and the non - alcoholic drinks are great too.

Todo es delicioso! Si pudiera ir todos los días, ahí estaría.
23 May 2022 3:20
Good food. Fun atmosphere. The place is weirdly designed but nevertheless it works. Every item we ordered was delicious: garlic shrimp, la Brujula spicy sardines, patatas bravas, mussels etc…

The surprise was the washroom. The wallpapers had the pictures of soccer players from around the world. Not surprisingly due to the fact that it’s a Spanish restaurant. Really nice touch

My only concern:

We had made reservations online and we were expecting a good table. The man host really didn’t care. It seems that he decided our reservations did not matter. Anyways, no need to say more.
11 May 2022 4:54
After paying my bill, I got an impression that it had to be one of the most expensive restaurant in town, don't just looking the menu prices but see what you get for you dollars. Foods and services are good but not fanatic.
22 April 2022 16:59
Absolutely amazing dishes! The chefs here are incredible, interactive and very talented. The service is extremely attentive and informative. Looking forward to my next visit!
07 April 2022 22:42
Where do I start? We went there on Friday night for the first time and were really looking forward to it.
The portions are tiny, overpriced and nothing compared to Spain.
There was something off with the shrimp and I got sick right after when I got home.
An employee came to our table and basically asked us to leave, suggesting that we have drinks in the standing area because a reservation arrived (we were never informed about that beforehand). At that time, we were actually waiting for the tortilla we ordered. We never received it and don’t even know if we were charged for it. We didn’t get a chance to look at the receipt in details as we were rushed to leave. We were the only BIPOC table in the whole place. So I invite you to take a moment and reflect on that.
Overall, it was an unpleasant and unwelcoming experience.
01 April 2022 19:43
Unfortunately I would not recommend! Good ambiance but the food wasn't great for the prices. Canned mussels & stale chips in a restaurant? When we told the waiter we didn't love the dish they said they found that insulting. Which made things REALLY awkward. They did redeem some service points by not charging us for this dish but ultimately I must say that I had a strange experience here and I was very disappointed by the food. Unlike traditional tapas you would see in Spain.
16 December 2021 5:17
Over priced and more importantly the food was not particularly good. Potatoes were like frozen McCain with mayo on them ughhhh. Eggplant and olives were decent. Mussels and Tuna were meh. Sangria on tap was tasty and not too sweet. Servers were good and very attentive. Nice atmosphere. Really if the food was sorted out it could be a very nice place.
25 November 2021 6:40
A place that carries the brand of Chilean Football player Ivan Zamorano, selling spain dishes, and European canned-food in Vancouver. It seems that they are still trying to figure out what is exactly the concept of their service.
The place is cute and very well located, so its a good place to meet/pick up your friends. And maybe have 1 (one) beer before heading somewhere else with friends. **Ask your server** and stay away from the "Canned Tapas" these are not very clear in the menu. Don't end up with a $22 can of oily shrim that costs $2 Euro. 90% of the menu is not real "tapas" but a bastardized version of them. Service is ok. And the cheese cake is freaking amazing and the only worthy item. BEWARE, Tip is predetermined to be 18-25% for whatever reason.
02 November 2021 17:50
Food was good but VERY expensive. The 6 dishes costed about 53 dollars per person for a table of 4 after tips and tax. The atmosphere is good but very loud. If you're looking for a quiet place or have a chat with a friend then this might not be the best place. Inside is very small so make sure to make reservations!
01 November 2021 18:45
Terrible service. When you go to a relatively modern/hip restaurant, as a customer you will expect top notch customer service. We had made reservations. We showed up about 40 mins early. They had bar chairs available but they refused to offer us referencing a reservation which never showed up (not at least in the 30 mins that we waited in the rain). They could have called the other reso when they were late or checked to ensure they are still on so they could accommodate but they literally didn't care. They were so cold that we decided to go elsewhere after waiting in the rain for 30 mins.
05 October 2021 22:11
Ordered four plates and one drink for two to share, $81 in total before tax&tips. Price was reasonable, portion was small but delicate.p. S. They don’t have Paella.
【Meat&Cheese】
Jamon Serrano with crackers$10 (What else could a person ask for other than this simply amazing ham!)
【Paciones】
Mushroom a la plancha with egg $16 (One can never goes wrong with poached eggs, we both liked it the most)
Octopus $23 (LOVE their choice of olive oil, got one on the way out! $12 for 250ml)
【Can Musseuls】
La Brujula with chips $22 (Interesting can food, mind it could be a little too fashionable for some people e.g. Me)
【HAPPY HOUR TUE-SAT 4-5PM】
Sangria on tap $10 (It’s so light, I felt like drinking water)
21 July 2019 20:15
Very good, Vancouver needs many more restaurants like this. Kitchen could be open later particularly on a weekend.at least to 11pm
06 July 2019 1:53
Went here for a Lady Date with my girl and it was the perfect date night. The food was quite delishous. Pictured is the Octopus, Veal Tounge, Dessert Special, We deffinatly had more courses but I didn't get photos of all of them. We enjoyed the Stuffed Peppers with Sweet Cheese, Clams, Shiso Peppers & Tortilla (amazing, get it!).

The space is small and fills up quickly. Loved the decor and setup was pretty authentic. The staff were very friendly at the bar and servers were very attentive. We will be back!
23 June 2019 22:35
Despite many empty seats and a no reservations policy, my friend and I (professional women) were refused to be sat because we would/could not accept bar stool seats.

My friend requires a dining chair with a back due to a health challenge.there were plenty of empty ones.

Shockingly rude.so very disappointing
27 May 2019 19:37
Food was delicious and service was good. I liked the atmosphere too. But I can't rate a dinner establishment more than three stars if I'm still hungry when I leave. The portions are pathetically small for the price. $13 for squid that's literally four bites of food. Unlikely to return.
14 May 2019 2:45
After eating here, it has become one of my most highly recommended restaurants in Vancouver. I've never been to Spain but this is exactly how I imagined it. People standing around, munching on snacks, sipping on drinks and just having a good time. The menu is extensive and believe me you will want to try everything. Some must tries that I would like to recommend is the foie gras, mussels, clams in marmouth and anything with potatoes. It gets busy quickly so come early. We arrived at 4 and were seated right away. You can only order appetizers at 4 and the full kitchen opens at 5 (so beware). People start piling in around 5: 30 ish so either come early or come ready to wait. The reason why I docked it a star is because of the price. Each dish is reasonably priced but because it's so good, you want to keep ordering and it gets very pricey (still no regrets). I really hoped that it remains a hidden gem, but with the quality of food and the amazing service, I knew that the word would get out eventually.
13 May 2019 5:27
Man, this place is still super busy. We came here around 8pm and didn’t get a table for 2 until after 9pm – and we had to share a table for 4 with 2 other people. It was frustrating because we noticed another table for 2 available the entire time. We also noticed a group who arrived after us get a table before us.

We tried the following dishes:

1. Patatas Bravas ($9) – THREE STARS
Good serving of potatoes with a nice crisp on the outside.

2. Pork Belly & White Bean Stew ($16) – FOUR STARS
This was our favourite dish of the night. The pork belly was super tender with a crispy skin and the beans had great flavour.

3. Meatballs ($12) – THREE STARS
Meatballs were a bit overcooked, otherwise pretty good flavour. I especially liked the pine nuts.

4. Squid in Squid Ink Tin w/ Chips ($24) – TWO STARS
Overpriced can of preserved squid served with chips.

Overall, the experience was only average. The portions are small and the prices are high – but I guess this is the norm for tapas. The service was hit or miss – it took some time before our server remembered to take our drink orders.
12 May 2019 18:40
This place got super busy by 7pm and they don’t take reservations. We had to share a table with other people and it felt pretty tight. Staffs were super friendly but our bill came out wrong. Squid, potato, and meatball were all very good. Overall we had a great time here but portions were quite small even after ordering $30pp worth of food. I would like to try their happy hour next time!
09 May 2019 5:43
For me, everything was just average. Food, ambience, service, average. Tiny plates but large plate prices. An entire menu dedicated to tinned products from the around the world (at unworldly prices). We ordered a lot of tiny dishes, as did our neighbours to the west and east of me as we had to share a communal table. We sat close, so the noise reached peak levels as everyone tried to talk a little louder to be heard by their companion as our shared table filled to maximum capacity all the while shifting plates a little to the left a little to the right, and a little too much into everyone's personal space.

Not the best place to have a private conversation certainly. We didn't partake in the tinned items, but ventured into much of the seafood fare. Everything was plated tiny, and unfortunately it all came up a bit short in taste. Shishito peppers though basic, require a tiny bit of smoke/char, to enhance their flavour (and texture). They were ok. And the problem is, it was just ok. 2 items we had, the grilled (on a salt), and the clams were actually not fully cooked. I'd rather eat a slightly over cooked clam versus undercooked. Not all, just some. And the prawns too, just slightly undercooked - it needed just a tiny bit more fire to make them firmer. Everything required just a bit more to really finish it.

For the price though? I expected way more, and to be blown away by at least one item.
20 April 2019 17:03
Fast and friendly service. We had tapas and everything was served piping hot and was super tasty. Will definitely come back again!
12 April 2019 12:47
This place is over priced for what I'd call substandard tapas, yes it is small servings as the cuisine suggests however this place takes advantage of that genre, real let down for main St standard.
06 April 2019 22:27
It’s a nice cozy (tight but good) space for small plates and good drinks. Liked the chicken liver, the squid and also the steak. Service was very friendly and bar guy was super helpful. Would go back again, but not often thanks to the steep prices.
22 March 2019 19:38
Everything we tasted was delicious and we had a great evening out with our friends. The server was super chill and knowledgeable. They even have a separate menu of premium canned seafoods imported from Spain.

I gave four stars for two reasons:
-I wished that there were a few other healthier veggie dishes to balance out all the fried and salty dishes we ate
-Everything tasted great but when I was on my way home I was so thirsty from all the salt we just consumed

When I researched Como, the food didn't look that appetizing to me (many fried/beige dishes). Food definitely tastes better than I was expecting. Go try it!
21 March 2019 0:19
Good food, better service.the staff took care of us really well had the patience to explain food and drinks, despite the place being packed.will come back here again.
21 March 2019 0:16
Really cool set up, chefs, servers and vibe are great! Small plates to share and amazing drinks! The food and energy is everything like Spain. Must try for those who wish to taste authentic food.
14 March 2019 21:23
Great service and atmosphere. Loved the clams in vermouth and the mushrooms & sherry dishes. Not a big fan of the galacian octopus, though I think that might have been personal preference of our table rather than lack of quality. Patatas bravas are good, nothing too special.
09 March 2019 22:16
Great food and service. Few issues in getting seated at the right time. Told to go for a drink locally and we would receive a text when ready, never happened. When we came by to follow up they'd stated we had cancelled (which wasn't the case in any way) but.we managed to get seated shortly after as they tried to correct the mistake.
22 February 2019 7:09
Good, but a bit pricey. Great space. Try to get a seat at the bar. Get to see all the action in the kitchen. Favourite is the tomato bread. So simple but damn delicious!
21 February 2019 21:17
Everything, including the drinks (except the vermouth on tap), was flavorless. Service was questionable-was not brought back change.
21 February 2019 5:12
The room was beautiful, really enjoyed the atmosphere, the kitchen did a great job of acomodating the allergies of our party, which was awesome, food was super tasty, definitely a fun place for a big group to share a bunch of different stuff.

Some of the dishes were kind of awkward to share because of the lack of side plates, I’m totally down to chow down on food with the people I was eating, but in some cases was a little impractical because the plates were so full (which was nice) but also because of the nature of the dish -like the clams where we had to get crafty with the shells.

Also I found odd that we got cured meats and nobody even mentioned bread even tho they had some baguettes clearly chilling at a slicing station.
18 February 2019 5:35
Web prices do not match with menu prices!
Octopus was great as well as the papatas bravas, padron peppers, gambas Al ajillo, chicken livers BUT tiny portions.
Iberic chorizo is everything but iberic. And I could not find the jamon into the croquetas.
But what they need to address is the discrepancy between prices: web - menu on site (I. E: octopus on the website says $15. On site is $17.) Between others
Pictures attached
NO COOL
17 February 2019 9:45
Myself being from Barcelona I can tell the owners put great effort in the décor, atmosphere and quality of food. The only concern is the portion of the tapas, they are way too small. We had the garlic prawns, meatballs, tortilla, chicken livers, Galician style octopus and Piquillo peppers stuffed with cheese. As you can see by the photos almost all tapas had a pretty ridiculous portion. In terms of drinks I really enjoyed a Estrella Damm beer. Btw if you are a fan of La Liga don’t forget to go check the bathroom out!
02 February 2019 0:51
Great food at reasonable prices. Drinks tend to be a tad bit more pricey, but there is a good spread of choices. G&Ts seem to be the specialty, with a few martinis, beers and wines as well as Basque Cider. I wanted to give this place a 3.5 because the music is sooooo unnecessarily loud. I really hate the onslaught on our ears at any restaurant. I was yell chatting with people only 5 feet away from me and it was because of the music. The music itself is fine, just too loud.
27 January 2019 22:54
Por fin! A place that made me feel like home (Spain of course) food tasted like what you would expect in a bar in Spain. Also the decoration and vibe of the place was authentic. Really really liked it. Of course it came in pricy once some alcohol was added but. What else can you expect! It's Vancouver. Had Galician octopus. And as a Galician person I have to say it tasted really good! The chickpeas with chorizo were surprisingly tasty. The croquetas where also very good (maybe would had avoided the extra salt added on top but I guess that's because I am used to not cooking with salt so I guess I am more sensitive to it) the patatas bravas were (Finally in Vancouver) delicious and authentic! (Not crazy hot like other places like to add at anything that they claim to be Spanish. Guys Spanish food is general is not spicy that's Mexican food) and for desert another Galician classic: tarta de Santiago. Super good! (Wished it was a tiny bit bigger)

For those who claim sizes were ridiculous that's what tapas are. And I found the prices quite reasonable for being Vancouver. The alcohol made it expensive.

Oh! And as a Galician who is loyal to her local beer (Estrella Galicia) I have to admit that I was very impressed with the Catalan beer Estrella. (I can't remember the name the one from Damm that is special recipe I had never tried it before)

To finalize. I'll say that staff was very welcoming and accommodating
27 January 2019 19:31
Decent food but prices seemed quite high. $5 for a small plate of olives. Canned imported seafood from Spain starting at $20 for a can of sardines, up to $60 for canned octopus. These little cephalapods better be damn near endangered for that price!
23 January 2019 13:48
I had a great time visiting last night. The croquettes took me back to the streets of Madrid and the Sangria tasted identical to my favorite spot in Granada. I especially loved the Gilda and the Pan Con Tomate (bread with tomato) which reminded me of my favourite breakfast spot in Colmenar.
I will be back to taste it all! The space has an awesome atmosphere with seated and standing options to perch at the bar a drool over the tapas. The service was friendly and fast! Looking forward to being a local here. Thanks team Como
20 January 2019 23:29
Knowledgeable staff informed us about the entire menu and helped with the liquor new how to combine all the flavors with the perfect pairings created a wonderful atmosphere and a wonderful time.
10 January 2019 5:45
Beautiful, lively space. Nice vibe. Have had tapas in many different places so am familiar with this style of dining. These menu items were far too expensive for the amount of food served. Not a place I’d return to for this reason.
14 December 2018 5:24
Love these tapas! Superb service with excellent wine and food recommendations. Menu includes a few vegan options- Pan Con Tomate, Chickpea stew, Mushrooms, Shishitos- all of which were great. Wine list on point. A bright but intimate spot for a special evening!
