Dr. Nenad removed 4 polyps for my senior dog with local anaesthetic and sedation. He and his team did a fine job for Samba. No complications, sutures were done beautifully. Price was reasonable. Samba is recovering well and we are very thankful for their help.

Coquitlam animal hospital is a super reliable place full of very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and passionate Doctors, assistants and staff. They really care about your pet. Highly recommended
05 November 2023 2:12
This place is the best, I had an emergency and they squeezed me into their busy schedule ASAP and went over everything in detail to help my puppy. Then when I called the re: another does this matter type of question, the receptionist was so helpful and gave a lot of advice after checking with the vet. It's the nicest place and they really care about your pets and my puppy loves the vet cause she is so so nice.

Professional staff with great knowledge, our chosen vet for 3y now, always outstanding service.

My last experience was great. The vet who made the exam of my dog is lovely. I think her name is Maggi. The rest of the staff is so friendly. No complaints at all!

I had a very pleasant experience with Dr. Maggie and Vet Assistant Kieran (not sure of the spelling). They treated my cat with kindness and compassion.

Where I see opportunity for improvement is reception. I had called in on Friday with some questions for Dr Maggie and was told she was out until Monday and could expect a call back. Didn't hear back so called back Tuesday and was told she was still out but to expect a call first thing this morning. By 3 pm still no call and when I called back in I was told to e-mail.

Understand the busyness of appointment however this frustration could have been avoided had i been told to e-mail on Friday when I fist called.

Open and honest communication from reception would be much appreciated.

Dr. Maggie and the assistant Kiran were so informative and compassionate towards us and our beloved senior dog. They didn't rush our appointment at all and helped us through making a difficult decision. They were very gentle and sweet towards our dog while examining him. We truly appreciate them and their care for animals. Highly recommend Dr. Maggie at Coquitlam animal history.

Great visit! On time, the team was kind and professional and answered all my questions. I was even given additional information for some options to review and think about for my next visit. Highly recommend this place. Thank you CAH!

Great people. Vaccine and annual check up fees were very reasonable. 3 vaccine and annual wellness check up was less than $180. Dental work is not cheap. But it is not only cleaning but also x-ray and full dentals. If you are not regularly cleaning your dog teeth with professional, needs to be done once your dog getting older and losing teeth.
24 April 2023 11:02
Dr. Maggie and the nurses here are very well educated. We have a GSD thats shy with strangers and they know how to handle him very well. We leave the vet with peace of mind! Thank you all!

I can not say enough good things about Coquitlam Animal Hospital. We have been taking our cats there since they were Austin Animal Hospital.
When our previous kitty was ill with, and subsequently died from, an intestinal disease, the staff was so kind and caring; to not only our kitty, but us. They even hugged and cried with me when my little girl passed away.
Our current kitty, is having minor surgery and his teeth cleaned in a couple of days, and I have complete confidence in the doctors and staff that he will come out of it healthy and happy!
28 March 2023 16:46
My pup and I had the best experience here! Dr. Maggie is very passionate and took time to answer all the questions I had. Everybody in the office is kind and friendly. We’re so lucky to find them!
16 March 2023 10:05
The staff are always a pleasure! My cat has plenty of chatty stories to tell after her visit! Hahaha
21 February 2023 17:32
By far the best vet office I have found since moving to Canada. The staff is always compassionate and helpful. The doctors are knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend them to anyone. If I moved to Chilliwack, I would still make the drive here.

HORRENDOUS PRICE GOUGING. 12 X Markup!
My cat takes a daily blood thinner (clopidogrel bisulfate), of which I usually buy a 4 months supply. The cost for 120 pills, including tax, has been $260 when purchased from CAH.
After visiting a new vet in Port Moody, I was informed that I was being TOTALLY RIPPED OFF and that this medication can be purchased for much cheaper. I just filled the prescription, and the cost for 120 pills was $22. This is a 12x markup. I'm baffled. I've been purchasing this medication for CAH for 1 year, so that means I overspent by $714.

I understand that this is a business that needs to make money. But a 12x Markup? ! Completely unethical.

I've had two other incidents where my cat has needed heart scans, and was told to prop off my cat at 9am, and could pick him up 4 hours later. In both instances they kept my cat for the entire day (until 6pm).
In this instance, there was an independent contractor who was coming to the hospital to take the scans, but still theres no accountability.

I no longer trust this organization and will not be returning.
11 January 2023 16:36
Wonderful veterinarian and great assistants! Cat calmed down very quickly and trusted 'hoomans' for necessary examination even the dreaded 'back room' ear flush.
31 December 2022 8:38
Very responsive front desk; They accomodate to take our dog for emergency visit and provide all necessary exams and medications;
13 December 2022 12:19
The staff are amazing. The Doctors are very calm and both my cat and dog like him (they are both very nervous with new people). Ive been to many different vets and they are by far the best.
30 November 2022 21:58
We have been going to Coquitlam Animal Hospital with our Pets for many years. Dr Paunovic and his team are excellent. Several of our friends have gone to Coquitlam Animal Hospital because of our recommendation.
24 November 2022 11:25
I will not recommend this vet hospital based upon my experience within the past year.
I have taken all my pets (except for one) to this hospital location for the past 26 years, and have had full confidence in the care of the previous veterinarians, Dr. Gutteridge and Dr. Briggs.
Dr. Briggs unfortunately left last year. Her physical exams were methodical, and complete. Always she would call personally, to inform of, and discuss diagnostic results and implications. She was professional, yet at the same time, she was compassionate and caring.
I missed that over the subsequent year.
My dear cat died a few months ago.
He was older, and had medical problems: a heart murmur, seizures, plus arthritis, but he was actually doing very well and living the life. He was on medication but had regular examinations and blood work. He was at the clinic every month for injections for arthritis. He was seen by the dr.three days before he died. I had no forewarning of his impending death He seemed to be his usual self, even on that day.
My cat had seizures lasting a few seconds only.perhaps 5-6 per month. He was prescribed an anticonvulsant, gabapentin which created no problem for several weeks, until two consecutive nights.a few days before my cat died, during which my cat became severely ataxic, and could not walk without falling.hitting the floor or a wall.until four hours or so after the dose.
I called with my concerns, speaking to a vet tech, and asked if this med could be stopped right away, or if it should be tapered off. I was advised by a vet tech that it was not an opiate and could be stopped right away.as per the vet. I had an appt the next day and spoke with the vet after he examined my cat for a chronic eye problem. He said: Gabapentin is not an opiate. You do not need to taper it off. You can stop it now.

Well, the exact opposite is well documented. So why did the vet not know this?
I subsequently discovered, that if gabapentin is abruptly stopped, it can precipitate seizures.as well as status epilepticus.

It is documented that in cats with a history of seizures.abrupt cessation of gabapentin can precipitate status epilepticus, and furthermore precipitate pulmonary edema.

My cat, a couple of days after the abrupt discontinuation of gabapentin.had a 'prolonged' seizure after which he never responded again. He had another seizure en route to the hospital. He died a couple of hours later. The dx: was pulmonary edema.

I had called in advance to the hospital, and spoke to a vet tech, so they knew that I was coming, but when I arrived and let them know that we were here, the person at the front desk actually continued talking to the person to whom she was speaking. I had to raise my voice and interject with "Excuse me. " Lest one think that I exaggerate, the neighbour who drove me to the hospital, was with me. I also heard a staff member make an apology to another patient for their wait.because they had a 'drop-in'. My emergent cat, who subsequently died, was referred to as a 'drop-in. '.
Two vet tech's responded to my outreach and concerns regarding the cause of my dear cat's death. However, one was not involved with the case, and the other had limited knowledge of the situation. I thank them for that, but they are not the vet.
The vet himself has not had the professional courtesy as yet, to call me to discuss my concerns.or answer my questions.

*I stand by this review today in the fall of 2022. The vet.never did have the common decency.or courage.to call me to answer questions regarding my dear cat's death.
And that in itself speaks volume about this vet.
15 November 2022 23:04
Friendly staff, easy to book appointments, very knowledgeable, and easy to work with. I would recommend this place.
25 October 2022 12:08
Friendly, professional staff, reasonable prices, and great resources for clients (the PetDesk app is fantastic!). I moved to Coquitlam recently and was nervous about leaving my vet, but Dr. Paunovic and his assistant were fantastic.
30 September 2022 0:38
Very friendly staff, the interactions with them and with the doctor was great. My puppy loved it there and would definitely be comfortable and happy being ro return.
21 September 2022 17:08
We came to Coquitlam Animal Hospital after my Chiweenie, Juno, was attacked by a much larger dog. They were able to take her immediately after the attack and did such a great job getting her all patched up for a very reasonable price. We stuck with this hospital because they have shown, time and time again, that they really care for our fur babies. Their staff is friendly and kind and they never push services or treatments on you and always make sure you are aware of cost etc.which always tend to be well-priced as far as I can tell comparing them to other vets.

Recently our German Shephard developed ligament issues in her hind legs and they were able to see her and have her in for TPLO surgery within two weeks of her injury. She's healed so well and they've been so caring with her treatment, we really feel like they are 100% invested in the best for our dogs. The staff are also very compassionate and reassuring with us, as my husband and I worry so much about them.
18 September 2022 2:18
Excellent care and advice for an active cat who likes to be outside on our deck. Keeping him in is necessary to keeping him calm, safe and secure and reduces annoying habits like spraying when he sees others cat outside.
31 August 2022 16:38
This animal hospital is beyond spectacular, I've never seen such caring and loving staff. I appreciate you guys for how sympathetic and loving you all were towards my beloved cat lexi and I.faith in humanity is restored with kind hearted people like you.

Thank you

Super friendly staff and super loving to my dog who was scared and doctor super nice and answered all our questions
24 July 2022 9:08
After a very traumatic experience for not only my dog but us at our last vet we were scared of even taking into a new vet. We took our boy in today to Coquitlam animal hospital and even though he was in pain and scared they handled him so well and didn’t try and do things that would traumatize him further. We walked out with a happy dog and a plan to get him better. I would recommend this vet to anyone.
17 July 2022 17:18
Clover and I were very impressed with both the doctor and her assistant. Our doctor was so kind and made Clover feel comfortable and loved.
We came in for our 3rd shot and puppy examination. Clover was extremely comfortable as the doctor took her time to get to know Clover. She was chatting with him and petting him while doing a thorough examination.
The assessment was much more thorough and detailed then the other vet clinic we went for his second shot and her energy was much better.

After the vaccination and examination our doctor spent 15 minutes answering our questions and we did not feel rushed.

Glad we got lucky finding a great veterinarian doctor…

Very pleased with Coquitlam Animal Hospital. Got Chico in on short notice. Were very polite, professional and kind to my dog. They administered Cytopoint injection and his severe seasonal allergies cleared up within 24 hours. Chico is doing much better and I will definitely return!
04 July 2022 14:36
I'm most pleased with this place. I took my wee Morkie Bella 4 months, she never flinched when being vaccinated. Dr. P & his assistant were very pleasant. Informed me of several animal medical insurance companies.
28 May 2022 15:34
Best Vet & staff ever! Love these people, they are so loving and kind to furr babies of all kinds and their hoomans. ️
07 March 2022 20:56
My family (pets & humans alike!) have always been treated with genuine care. We have been going there for our pet needs well over 15 years, and I wouldn't want any other team to care for my furry family:)

Very friendly staff with very clear communication of costs, procedures etc. They took very good care of our dog Uzi who is a bit of a handful especially around other dogs.

Yesterday we had to euthanize our wonderful family cat, of 15 years, Boots.
I am sure everyone knows, how difficult the circumstances of such an event are for a family.

I would like to acknowledge Dr. Paunovic and his assistant of the Coquitlam Animal Hospital for so graciously assisting in this difficult family transition.
Firstly, for providing a merciful, understandable, and logical diagnosis of our cat which 2 vets had misdiagnosed, and for their graciousness and professionalism during the euthanization of our Boots. The needs of my children and our family were recognized and greatly respected. Thank you.
17 December 2021 21:44
My experience was terrible as my dog was having seizures and I was told 5 times over the day they would contact me back as we already had a treatment plan but after 5 phone calls and a visit in person I was ignored and turned away I was forced to go to another vet and barely even got her records in time as after 2 30 they were not even answering there phone I would not let them care for my animals as I take there health to heart and clearly they do not staff may be nice but nice doesn't help if you can't get help
14 November 2021 2:28
This vet clinic is amazing. I was looking for a new vet closer to me for my senior dog. I brought him there with heart and breathing problems. They explained everything thoroughly, and I never felt pressured or rushed. After a few visits, my dog ended up having to be put down and everyone there was extremely professional, supportive, and patient. I will definitely be going back there with my next pet.
30 September 2021 11:36
Took great care of my cat and were informative; never felt rushed. Their fees were reasonable, with upfront and detailed costs outlined; primary focus was on pet's well-being.

Cat got dental cleaning and extraction there. Had asked around several places and they seemed to have to the best availability, pricing, experience and equipment for dental procedures. Liked that facilities were all on site, lab work and all. Was kept informed throughout the process.
29 September 2021 8:49
My last 2 visits to the Coquitlam Animal Hospital were filled with great sadness, a very beloved family member was extremely sick & nothing we were doing seemed to be helping.

Unfortunately due to his advanced age & level of weakness Boomer was laid to rest. To loose such a remarkable dog was difficult beyond words, everyone & I do mean everyone at the clinic handle everything with such care and empathy. They truly understood our sadness & made every effort to ease our sorrow. Thank you. You guys are the best.
11 June 2021 15:26
This place isn't that expensive taking your pet in for care. My dog has been there a few times as he is getting old. Very professional as well.
09 June 2021 3:51
The staff here is amazing! Our dog is not a patient here, but we buy our dog food here (closer to home than our regular vet). Everyone is always so helpful and nice. I had my toddler with me the other day and the front desk person offered to carry the huge bag of food to the car for me. Thank you so much for such amazing customer service.

If it weren't for the team at Coquitlam Animal Hospital, our cat would be long gone.

A little background on our Sawyer. He is an 8 year old tabby cat who has been the picture of health his entire life. The only time he's been to the vet was for his shots and to be fixed when he was much younger. About a month ago, Sawyer started experiencing a mild case of cat acne on his chin. We didn't have a go-to family vet because Sawyer has never had any reason to visit the doctor before, so we decided to take him to a local clinic in our Vancouver neighbourhood - BIG mistake.

This clinic treated our Sawyer and sent us home with an $800 bill for all sorts of shots, injections, antibiotics and other various items. Sawyer was seemingly fine once we brought him home, but that changed very quickly. After 48 hours of giving him the prescribed antibiotics, he completely lost his appetite and stopped drinking altogether. He became lethargic, started hiding in strange places and stopped responding to his name. We immediately brought him back to the vet, where the doctor refused to examine him - Sawyer doesn't take kindly to strangers and can be very aggressive when stressed. The doctor sent us home with a probiotic and an anti-nausea medicine. After 2 days of no improvement, we took him back. The doctor AGAIN refused to examine him, afraid that Sawyer would bite him, and sent us home with an appetite stimulant, a laxative and a pheromone diffuser, claiming that 'the cat will eat eventually and it's nothing serious'.

After another 24 hours of no improvement, we decided to call a different vet for a home visit and second opinion. Thank God we did. We were told that Sawyer needed immediate hospitalization. Dr. Amir Khosravani, our new vet, didn't hesitate to call in a favour with his colleague, Dr. Paunovic, so that we were able to bring Sawyer to Coquitlam Animal Hospital first thing in the morning.

Within 2 hours of dropping Sawyer off the next morning, the team at Coquitlam Animal Hospital called us with a diagnoses - acute kidney failure. It is presumed that the shot of Metacam and antibiotics (from the previous Vet) sent his kidneys into overdrive and likely caused the shutdown. Dr. Paunovic told us there was a 50/50 chance of survival and recommended a 72 hour fluid treatment in an effort to save his life. After 3 long nights in the hospital, Sawyer stabilized and his numbers came down exponentially, all thanks to the team at Coquitlam Animal Hospital. It's been 1 month since we brought him home and Sawyer is back to his regular self, thanks to Dr. Paunovic and his team. If we hadn't sought out a second opinion, he wouldn't have made it another day.

The support staff and doctors at Coquitlam Animal Hospital did everything in their power to save our baby and give him the best possible care. We know our Sawyer isn't the easiest of animals, but in spite of that, you gave him the best possible care and treated him as your own. We are eternally grateful for the work your team has done! THANK YOU!
16 April 2021 13:26
We had a bad experience with our previous vet before trying Coquitlam animal hospital, they took care of my cat in 5 hours when the other vet couldn't figure out what was wrong for 5 days straight. I highly reccomend Coquitlam animal hospital to anyone in need of a vet for their fur babies!
24 March 2021 20:16
My experience at Coquitlam Animal Hospital was a good one. They are very professional, and they really care about my pet and his well being. I highly recommend them. Thank you for fixing my cat.
27 February 2021 13:36
Very kind and compassionate towards my sweet rescue cat. Up front about costs and good value for the price.
05 December 2020 3:56
I was looking to make a change in my vet so I made an appointment here. Nice clinic, clean, convenient with friendly welcoming staff. Happy there is only one vet as my other clinic felt too impersonal with a different vet every time i visited. Here, I feel the vet will get to know my dog
better, and I was right!
She loved him! Busy strip mall, parking can be tight but in spite of that, really happy with the change i made, coming to the Coquitlam Animal Hospital.
Thankyou for making me and my dog feel so welcome!
07 October 2020 17:42
Awesome place. Staff and vets are extremely professional and thorough. The care and attention provided to the animals is so nice to see. Will definitely use them again!
04 May 2020 7:12
Avoid this money hungry scammer of a vet they love to try and double charge for exams that have already been done and best of all they can't do a procedure correctly then will tell you to go see a specialist after they have taken your money. I will NEVER bring any of my animal's into this garbage vet office again or will I recommend this place to anyone.
20 April 2020 14:39
I’m exceedingly grateful to Dr. Paunovic and his staff for their warm demeanour and informed care. My male cat had a blocked urinary tract while is very scary to deal with. His staff were so compassionate and treated Luka so well. I could tell that Dr. P and his assistants all truly care about their patients. They will now be my new vet office from now on.

Thank you Dr. P and staff!
24 March 2020 11:18
Dr. Ponavic has taken care of my dog for almost twelve years. He saw us through an emergency health crisis and we were grateful! He recommended supplements and vitamins rather than a prescription and my dog is healthy and well ever since. I love how we are treated, and the staff are great!
19 March 2020 2:52
Staff members are wonderful and I love that they are so great with animals.thank you for taking Lavender and putting her in a caring home.
15 March 2020 1:37
I look for clarity, dedication, knowledge and smiles! It seems to me that the staff are happy here and the clinic offers sound advice and professionalism. Have already recommended to others.
10 November 2019 9:44
The staff and Dr paunovic took very good care of our dog hui. We will continue to bring both our dogs to the Coquitlam animal hospital when needed.
05 November 2019 14:39
All the staff are lovely, and the doctors are great. My dog HATES the vet, but seems able to cope with their help and encouragement
11 September 2019 18:24
Friendly and calm environment. Also they so some work for the BCSPCA so that's always a good thing
06 September 2019 9:50
Dr. Paunovic is the best. We have been going to him for years with our dog. He is honest. Never pushes treatment. Always gives us options and advises us of the cost. Our dog has has 2 major surgeries at this hospital. They were amazing with Koda after his surgeries. They are always so good to Koda.
30 August 2019 21:02
This used to be my regular vet, not sure what’s happened but it’s really gone down hill. The changes in staff are undesirable and messy. Seems very unorganized.
28 May 2019 14:35
Vet tried to charge me for something I never asked for. When I called him out on it he threatened me and told me he’d call the cops.
21 May 2019 7:16
Took my dog in on a Saturday. Paid them $150 Saturday to be told she needed x-rays. Had to book x-rays for the following Monday. My dog has high anxiety, so I made it very clear that the sooner she gets in and out the better. I wanted to wait but they said "it will take two hours and we like to have her here while she "come to". Took her in Monday at 8am, she sat in a crate for almost 4 hours. I wasn't able to pick her up until almost 2pm, in which case, she walked into the waiting room and lost her bladder, as she was still semi-under. No happy! I was then told the dog needed surgery. I have since called them 5 times to get the surgery date to no avail. Meanwhile, my dog is in serious agony! Pulled the plug on these jokers and going to a Hospital that doesn't have to "farm out" their surgeries! Steer clear of this place if you love you pet! I would have put -5 starts if I could.
11 May 2019 12:26
MONEY HUNGRY. UNPASSIONATE.

Don't go here if your animal is sick, they'll find an excuse to put it down and make money instead of save it's life for a little while longer- it's like they wanted to make sure we paid to get him put down at this location before any where else because they are money hungry. My dog was perfectly fine just going in for a check-up, they found cancer in his body yet put a tube down it's throat causing inflammation to the point of my dog no longer being able to breath properly, so they insisted we put him down right away. THIS could have been avoided and we could have had a little while longer with our dog. Negligent.

Also, don't expect your animal to be peacefully put down, as your animal is dying in your arms they will come in and try and sell you urns and all these items for your dead animal BEFORE they're even dead, completely ruining the last moments you have with your pet. Once again, unpassionate and money hungry.

Debating taking legal action. Hopefully they don't "lose" my dogs files as well like they have with others as I've read from the comments.
26 April 2019 16:12
Best animal hospital in the area, hands down. Staff are very friendly, polite, compassionate. Dr Paunovic is very dedicated, caring and experienced. He truly loves animals. Very good follow up with clients by front desk, and they always greet you with a warm welcoming. They have an impressive equipped clinic. My two kitties are definitely in great hands for their vet care!

I am forever grateful for Coquitlam Animal Hospital for all the compassionate, amazing care they are providing for Garfield, our Maine Coone fur baby who came to us as a rescue a year ago from an abusive home. He came to us very overweight and on the cheapest cat food available with lots of signs of trauma.
Fast forward a year to the present date, we brought Garfield in because he was vomiting, dehydrated, and panting. Through their experience and ubundant knowledge they were able to determine using blood tests, radiologists, and what was required to pin point the problem was that our precious furbaby was diagnosed with pancreatitis. (Cats can vomit for a wide range of reasons so they were patient and kind in explaining why they needed certain tests to get to the diagnosis with the symptoms that Garfield was going through)
He is receiving love from everyone who works there; everybody from the receptionists, to both of the vets, to veterinarian assistants; they are all making sure Garfield is taken care of with lots of pets, love, and outstanding medical care and attention.
It's rare to find a place that everyone who works there, shines with great customer service, expertise, and integrity. I would highly recommend this animal hospital to anyone, with confidence in their abilities to do what is best for our precious furbabies (who are definitely part of the family.)
My boyfriend and I have no children, so our pets are our babies. I have a passion for rescuing animals and make sure my precious pets are taken care of by fellow animal lovers. This place is full of beautiful fellow animal lovers, we will be lifetime visitors of this place with our future fur babies, such a relief and blessing to find such phenomenal care in our own city, Coquitlam. Thank you for absolutely everything; everyone at Coquitlam animal hospital! You are truly one of a kind and animals and their owners are blessed to have a place to go that is trustworthy, extremely knowledgeable, and empathetic!

The staff here are the worst, they lie and they are the type that judges a book by the cover rather than people and their relationship they have with animals which does not always benefit the animals, or be in best interest of the animals in the shelter. I have worked with other shelters and found staff more caring and less stuck up as these staff members are, Id try another shelter before going to this one I feel bad for the animals that stay in there as long as they do.

Staff are very caring and professional. Office and rooms are clean and well maintained. Costs are explained and estimates are thorough and show different options. I never feel pressured to spend more than I need to.

This review is long over due - Hands down the best veterinary clinic out there. Throughout the years I have had some pretty terrible experiences with uncaring vets that only looked at my animals as $ signs. Truly, Dr. Paunovic and his warm hearted staff have welcomed my beloved fur babies with compassionate care and always resolving their health concerns. I have not only advise my family to come here but also anyone that wants the best care for their dogs or cats. If you really love that four-legged furball that is part of your family, bring them here.
