Coquitlam Return-It Depot

Worst bottle depot! The Asian lady was throwing on us the bottles that are not accepted. Also we got paid only for the the cans 0.10cents, however we have dropped 10 bottles of milk that are 0.80 each, tetra packs and lots of other bottles that were not counted, even though they were counted on the screen. Will never come to this place again!

Bad customer Service. The women working here are quite rude. Argue with you over bottles returned which are eligible for deposit and refused to give us deposit money. We went elsewhere and had no problems.

Staff isnt super friendly, but one was especially rude. They don't accept common things like light bulbs.

More parking compared to the Poco location. If you are using the express drop off service don't forget to scan your labels after printing them off and place them on your bags. Scanning your own labels before handing your bags in is new. I saw many people today who did not know and quickly took their bags back to scan them. Overall, very fast and efficient process.

Fast, efficient staff that aren't picky, and will point you in the right direction. Open layout makes sorting easier. The drop off option is fantastic

You need to scan the sticker barcode of your Express return bag before dropping off. Defeats the purpose of express return when you have to line up and scan the barcode sticker. Other locations this step is not needed, just simply drop off your returnable on the bin.

Very rude staff at this location - yell at customers even with f-words and threat not to serve. They seem to have the mentality that they are "paying" you so you need to be subject to their rules reasonable or not. Truth is that they are an NPO that carries out the duty on behalf of the government to recover used products in consideration for a fee.

Had a very unpleasant confrontation by one of their casher. They think customers can't hear them if they talk behind of the counter.

Clean and very organized location with express drop off. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Can’t say I’ve left many recycling reviews but this location is really great!
They also take household recycling, textiles, batteries and electronics!

Rude and threatening action when they were bothered. Well, but some people are new to the place!

The WORST. I did the return it Express service but they lost my entire baggage and the manager wont do anything about it. I am still waiting for my deposit.

This place is well managed, organized and clean! Thier hand washing station is my favorite (dyson touchless).

I've seen three CRT tube monitors being recycled here, *please please* do NOT recycle CRT monitors. None are being made anymore and are highly sought after in the vintage computing community and will fetch upwards of $100 on Craigslist, eBay or Facebook Marketplace. Return-It will not allow you to take items from the depot.

It's a great place to recycle many different items for free.

It is relatively clean on the inside and although it can be busy at times, the employees are friendly and regularly clean and disinfect the tables, trays, and carts.

As someone new to recycling and unsure how to put bottles together, the staff were willing to clarify the rules.

One female teller who counts the bottles being returned and gives out the money is fast, efficient, and friendly.

If there are improvements to be made, I'd say the signage about what goes where could be improved. Parking is also an issue at times as it can busy and hard to find spaces.

But otherwise, it's a good little service for the Tri Cities.

Very rude Asian-Korean accent woman, has no respect to anyone; she thinks this place is the only one return Depot in lower mainland, so she can yell at any customer that she feels like.

Very rude and pushy. You ask for proper directions and they don't answer.
One staff member yelled at me and I told him he was rude, others agreed.
I am reluctant to go back because you cant ask anything without yheir attitude.

Very rude Asian- Korean accent woman. The store was very busy, no plastic tray available to put out aluminum can. I keep all aluminum cans in it’s own package and lined up for 10 mins. When I got to her, I apologized and Told her that there were no tray available. She was so angry and asked me to go back to table and put these can on the tray because the line up was long. I said NO because I already line up for 10 mins. I brought 5 trays and take out aluminum cans while she counting. She was angry all this time. After she was done with counting, I told her that she was very rude for treat customers like her. She yelled at me and told me to not come back. I should have to request to talk to her manager (if she was a manager) I wanted to let her know her bad behaviour; she can yell at her family members but she just can not yell at customers. The lineup was long and I don’t want people have to wait longer. I left with great disappointment.
She didn’t do anyone favour. This is business. She needs to learn how to keep her minimal standard manner as business person.
If she is able to read this comment, she dare to give me the contact person above her so I can talk to that person about her manner.

The staff is not so friendly, but you can recycle lots of things here. Unhappy staff is pretty normal for bottle depots, but it's a bit off putting. I go here at least once a month to drop off recyclables that are not collected by the City of Port Moody.

Spacious inside. Fairly clean for a return depo. Very quick. 1 less star for the parking. Not their fault though.

I've been using this Depot for years, mainly to return beverage containers but have also dropped off an old vacuum, kitchen appliances, & pre-Covid: light bulbs & batteries. It's not clear if & when they will accept those again. They also accept some Styrofoam packaging & cardboard (no refund). There are about 8 indoor stations to sort your drink containers onto trays that hold 50 drink boxes or 2 dozen water bottles/pop cans. There are carts the wheel your trays to the cashier which you can take outside if you prefer to sort from the trunk of your car. There's also a drop-off service so you can bring in a large bag of assorted items and get your refund later. When it's busy during the summer months, expect sticky floors and tables and sometimes wasps. We usually go wearing gloves. Masks are currently mandatory for staff & patrons.

Very bad service, we bring our old microwave there, they rejected it,
saying not accept it. We bring there for their wed saying accepts microwave, the staff ask his bosses to explain, but he just say they do not take it no need to tell us why.

I used the Express service for the first time yesterday. The money was in my account the same evening. Hats off to the staff. This can't be a pleasant job, especially now.

Terrible experience the other day. I have been trying to return a difficult type of beverage container, while reaching out to Return It and being told any depot can take the product, I was rudely refused and told not here. I was kicked out of depot and my bottles moved to the curb. Hit up the location on Lougheed! They were much friendlier and very helpful!

Rude staff, not friendly to help customer. Even the operator or owner had very bad attitude. If only recycling other things without bottles not welcome.

They try very hard in this place to keep it clean. They limit it to 10 people so that's helpful. I think that since Covid it's better than before.

Seems as busy as normal but they are not allowing as many people into the store as before. You might have to wait outside.

They are not taking cloths, batteries, lightbulbs. Only bottles, cans, and electronics.

And plastic bags, cardboard, styrofoam.

New sink to wash you hand afterwards. Very nice.

Anyways - this is a "good" depot all in all.

These people are always so busy, trying to manage the line of customers and keep people safe by limiting the number of people in the depot. I've seen some customers be so rude and mean. It takes time during COVID. We all need to be more patient. I understand that they are trying to keep everyone safe. Nobody likes to wait, but this our current reality in COVID.

Staff were not helpful, drove a long way with 1 tagged drop off bag and they wouldn’t except it just after 4pm which is a pretty lazy time of the day to close.

Well done operation, clear instructions, clean area. One of the best return it depots I have been to. Great people working here

Poorly managed social distancing. No dedicated employee managing in and out. I was in the lone up and people were agitated. There were people following the line and there were people ignoring the sign and enter as they please.

Rude staff, don't dare suggest anything or ask a question you will be yelled at for no reason.

You should have an express lane if you want people to continue using the program. Instead of being nasty to your customers in line you could be informing them of the new program, the ones that don't already know.

If your only letting 10 people at a time you could get more express customers in and out faster.

There is a extremelly rude Chinese woman at the entrance. It's hard to undestand her and she keeps just screaming, pretty loud. They really mistreat their customers at this place. They forget that it is a business, making money, and they are not making any favor to their customers returning their bevarage containers to recover a deposit that was charged at the time of purchase. For sure it is not recomended.

Great, friendly service. Clean and organized location. People need to calm down and be kind. There will be lineups everywhere while we maintain safe distancing.

This is one of the good ones. Ample parking, big space inside, friendly staff. We go out of our way to go here

Run by a group of Koreans, most don't behave friendly or rather rude, except a female but she isn't there all the time.

I brought a microwave (the on-button sometimes stuck) in it's original box with the menu inside, as I learnt items turned in would be sent to places where possibly repairs can be done and the unit can be resold to protect the environment.

Before I came through the doorway, the guy at the counter already yelled: "take out, take out! " Everyone there working to pile their bottles or cans into trays stopped & looked at each other. Not aware I was the one aimed at, I continue to push towards the line- up. He came out and hit heavily on the box yelling: "No box"!

I flipped the box to the side and slided the microwave out. Spent 15 min using the car key, removed all the thick staples from the box, flattened and dumped it into the paper bin!

Why treating people like craps, are they not paid for the job?

Although the line up was quite long when I arrived, it moved very quickly. The staff really helped to keep things moving.

I've been there twice. Rude employees. Besides, they don't accept foam, the reason is to leave space for social distance. I returned to the Lougheed one, relatively smaller but cleaner, and accept everything.

Actually very organized and setup with proper social distancing measures. The parking is a nightmare though and feels like a one-way back alley.

Clean environment, fast efficient service and they've got a nice Dyson air blade faucet so you can wash and dry your hands quickly and without touching things.

Female employee was yelling orders at me. When I tried to speak with management, I learned she is the owner. She swore at me and told me to leave the store. She also appears to have different covid rules for different ethnicities. Very disappointing.

I have always been greeted with a smile. Staff are friendly and polite and work hard to keep the depot clean.

Even though I have a Return it closer to me (which is disgusting) I go out of my way to go here. Place is always clean and well maintained and the people that work there are very friendly

After many visits here to drop off electronics, cardboard and other recyclables, we've found the staff and environment here to be exemplary!
