Country Grocer Lake Cowichan

Not a huge store but neither is the community it serves so that stands to reason I suppose. It also seems to be more expensive than the other locations but that could just be my imagination. The smaller store means fewer products of course but still a well stocked and serviceable grocery store.

Great staff, prices seem a little high but I guess we have the option of driving a half hour to pay lower prices. Overall, appreciate that it's here.

Time to start accepting refundable containers and start packaging reusable bags again. No more Covid excuses.

Store was clean, well stocked, and organized. Staff were friendly, no line up for the checkout. Bakery items were fresh.

Well organized and can find pretty much everything you need from a grocery prospective. I particularly like their very section. Friendly staff!

Went to their bakery for a quick bite. No tables due to covid but it's expected. I had their breakfast sandwich which came with either potato patties or home fries. I chose the potato patties and they were nicely seasoned and crispy. The sandwich was very warm, the bun was buttery too. Very tasty!

Full size grocery store offering in a lake side town. Pretty standard grocer; fruits and veggies are on one end, dry goods in the middle and a fish and meat section at the other end.

There is a delightful eatery inside were you can purchase ready made meals.

Additionally, my partner is vegan and I am happy to say that their plant-based offerings are pretty substantial; more so than the average Victoria grocery.

Place is good, is quite busy given the covids. Tried to get some lunch type food and it seemed limited.

Outstandingly diverse and large selection of breads and baked goods. Top quality steak. We were impressed, especially for a small town.

They always have great deals and good selections. I love checking out their seasonal and nonfood items! Everything from flip flops and water toys to aromatherapy products.

There customer service is exceptional. On sold out advertised items they will honor it by giving a rain check without a time limit.

Store is usually clean and well stocked. The deli/cafe is nice. Produce department is always best and tidy. Meat section leaves some room for improvement and the bakery doesn't have much. Prices are a bit higher overall.

Well stocked and full service grocery store. They have a lot of specific items to cater to the large camping population. Handy for the camper.

Only 2 tills open lined up wasn't in a rush but saw some people were not happy. The 2 cashiers that were on were good

Disappointing. Thought I would get a better breakfast for almost 13 bucks. I coulda burnt the potatoes and made eggs just as greasy myself because im a lousy cook which is why I eat out. Just not here again.

Cheap delicious breakfast. Served at indoor tables or a little terrace that borders the main road.

Astounding price/quality on breakfast. 9$ for a very good eggs Benedict with hash browns and black forest ham. No wonder Shakers Mill went out of business.

Often good deals but some things are pricey. A few times meat has been old but they are great about returns or give a gift card without getting the item back.

Peers and groceries for a client. FullThis one is in Lake Cowuchan groceries of course but right nowbifbyou are there live there. The garden centre is in full bloom. Ì was there to get flowers and a few things. The bouquet was gorgeous. A must see people.

The staff are friendly and they really work hard. Great deals if you keep an eye on the flyers.

The food they make here is great. The prices are fantastic for such a small town grocery store. Their cheap deals on near expired food is actually a novel approach to tackling the issue of food waste.
The problem with Country Grocer is that they refuse a common sense approach of having a quick check out lane. You will inevitably end up behind a lady buying two hundred bucks of organic vegetables, multiple cigarette packs (of her very specific brand) and her litany of weekly scratch off tickets. You will wait in line, everytime you come here, for at least eight minutes. It just took me TEN minutes to buy a single cabbage. Ten minutes.
Don't expect the old ladys who bomb the quick check out aisle to look back and even acknowledge the line forming behind them as they pick out each of their individual scratch tickets, because it won't happen.
Country Grocer - you are killing me. I actually started driving to Duncan to avoid the line ups at my local grocery store. You have actually driven me to purposely shop at a non-Canadian owned grocery store that has self check out machines. I'm also now buying non-perishable items from Amazon so I don't have to wait in yet another behemoth Country Grocer line.
If you want to adequately service younger people, who have demanding jobs and can't wait ten minutes standing in line, institute a quick check-out lane, and actually stick to it. You need to enforce basic politeness when your customers will not.

Absolutely top-notch in an absolutely down to earth Little Village feel staff customer everybody so happy and ever so helpful

This is by far the worst grocery store I’ve ever shopped at with the country grocer name. The only reason they stay afloat is simply because they have no competition and therefore they can take full advantage of the community. I think they’re pathetic and can only hope another grocery store moves in and wipes their greedy family scam from continually taking the communities hard earned dollars to rotten produce, best before yesterday meats, breads and shelf stock. The worst place I’ve ever shopped. Expired products at top price. I hate Lake Cowichan!
