I would NEVER recommend going to this location, if you want to buy a VW there are many other places with good customer service staff and management that care about your needs and don't want to sell you with deceptive techniques. Worst service I have ever received in my life. The worst finance manager in the world, I don't understand how they can have someone like that in charge of the sales group.

It pains me to share my experience recommending Volkswagen Dealership in Richmond Auto Mall to a friend, only to witness their deeply disappointing encounter. Having previously had a positive experience with the dealership, I suggested my friend purchase a pre-owned Elantra from them. Regrettably, the dealership failed to live up to its earlier standards. Despite assurances of no damages to the vehicle, my friend discovered significant front bumper and grill damage a day after the purchase. The dealership's response, claiming it was merely cosmetic and refusing any assistance, was disheartening. It's disconcerting to see a place I once trusted for a seamless buying process fall short in transparency and customer service. I regret recommending this dealership and hope they address these issues for the sake of future customers.

I recently bought a Toyota Venza from Volkswagen of Richmond and dealt with Jimmy and Carmen. They were both absolute pleasures to deal with throughout the entire purchasing process. Would highly recommend them and this dealership to friends and family in the future!

The service is soo bad and they add lots of additional charges when you do documentation. The staff and managers were so rude and was not cooperative especially the finance team was soo rude. I was looking for a used 2020 bmw x5 which was listed in their website. Most of the specs mentioned in their website was missing in the car when I went for test drive. Plz be careful if you are buying a used car from them

I leased a car and made an appointment to go to the car wash at 9: 30 today. After waiting for an hour and a half, the car was not washed in place. This store provides very rubbish services. No one told me how long I had to wait, no one said sorry. Stay away from this store in the future.

UPDATE: Go buy your car at Capilano Volkswagon. We got a brand new 2023 VW Tiguan Comfortline R-LINE (+mats) for $40k all in. Don’t pay the extra $8k+. Last but not least, we got $9.5k for our trade-in vs $5k. What a joke!

Worst service. Bought a used car and service people got into an accident driven the car to us and they tried not to fix it. Had to fight and show pictures of the car to get it fixed.

Not only that, we tried to trade in a vehicle and went out of our way to get it assessed proper (we spent 3 hours in the dealership) and their sales person lost ALL of the paper work.

Then they ghost us for 3 weeks and offer $5k for a vehicle that retails for ~$15k to $16k.

This dealership has lost my business forever. Terrible service, and poor ethics.

Go buy your car somewhere else.

Please consider getting advice from a secondary service centre before you service your car here. I was quoted $755 to get my wheel alignment done including calibration for my golf gti mk7.5. I was charged $188 to get alignment checked. Went to another dealership for the alignment service and got to know that I didn’t require to do an alignment as it was in good shape and I wasn’t even charged a penny for the service. Please have second opinion before you waste money for something that isn’t necessary. Very disappointed with the service at Cowell.

Although I ultimately did not purchase a vehicle here (found a car with my exact spec somewhere else) the staff here were extremely friendly and professional. I specifically dealt with Emily during the sales process and her service top tier. She did not pressure me in any way at all, extremely easy to negotiate with and communication was impeccable.

I have purchased a Brand New 2023 Tiguan from Richmond Volkswagen as I have been denied by other dealerships and banks due to I do not have enough/ Good credit history. But miracle happens here. Especially under the sales rep, Emily and Sales Manager Wei's help. The Bank Approved me! Very happy purchase and 100% recommend!

Bought Jetta from this dealership in July this year. Salesperson Joey was sweet. Velida, the finance manager made this experience bad for me. I got the car for much more price than the salesperson has told me. They trapped me by charging $1000 before approving the car for loan. I trusted Velida since I told her that this will be my first time to purchase a vehicle in canada. She tricked me by getting signatures on some protection packages which charged me a-lot more money than what my car actually was. She didn’t let my husband and cousin to join me during I was signing the papers because she said its their policy. Later on I manage to get some refund from them by cancelling some plan, they took 2 months to provide me the refund cheques and I was calling them about twice per week. Whenever I call they tell me that Velida will call me back but I never got a back call. I regretted that I trusted her. Not a good experience!

Our salesman was friendly and helpful. After our test drive the salesman said he would get us the best deal possible. After some time he came back with the business manager who presented us with a proposal that was $500 more than the advertised online price. When we questioned him, he said that the advertised online price was the financed price but not the cash price, even though it never said so on the website. We did not appreciate the deception and attempt to manipulate us in the purchase of a vehicle we were very interested in buying.

Just got my first electric vehicle and wanted to thank Harry for his help through this process. Very easy going, informative and also fluent in Cantonese which was a plus. Totally recommend!

Highline tream feels like high-end car level. Comfortline tream feels really cheap car it's really funny how the few thousand makes car incredibly different.

Really unimpressed by my overall experience, 1 they didn't clean the outside of the vehicle before they delivered it to me, 2 they didn't even do a oil change on the vehicle when the sticker says its due 5 days from now, 3 the person in the business office was extremely pushy trying to sell me a warranty I must have said no at least 40 times and was quite frustrated by the end. They also kept trying to sell me key fob and other warranties that they were trying to include in their fees. The only thing that I was impressed by was my salesman who was helpful and courteous and did a good job. But in the future I will not be buying a car from the VW of Richmond.

Worst experience ever. I set an appointment with the sales person. He wasn't there when I arrived because he was with another customer. For an hour. Sent me on a test drive with someone else. I walked in and knew what vehicle I wanted. I was there for over 8 hours just waiting to sign papers. Once everything was done (and the store was closing, because you know, over 8 hours), I got in the vehicle, they were sending people to me in the parking lot to sign papers they forgot. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if their tactic was to exhaust and starve their customers. Best interaction was their complimentary coffee machine which was my only sustenance over the course of what would have been 2 meals. Shout out to those mediocre lattes. I then went to register the car the next day because did i want them to do it in the dealership after being there all day? Nope. The sales paper and insurance paper weren't signed by the same person so I had to go back to sort that out, but the one person wasn't there, so I had to go back a third day. I truly wish I could have walked out of that miserable store after waiting an hour with an appointment, but with the current market for used vehicles, I truly felt trapped and angry that they could get away with what they were doing. Finance person was also bad mouthing her boss while dealing with me. Very cool.

Really bad experience dealing with dealership. Specially Manager is nightmare to deal with. We wanted to buy our first vehicle since we are new in Canada. Totally ripped off as they had mark up on top of MSRP. Other dealers selling at MRSP. We could have got vehicle $4000 cheaper elsewhere. All false promises and we were not disclosed mark up price. Finance department is worse she added warranty of $1700 by saying its mandatory but we found out later after purchase its optional. They care about their commission only without understanding plight of someone's financial position. Never expected this in Canada we thought people are nice, friendly & honest. Specially when its our first experience.

Jimmy sold me a used car. It fell apart shortly after purchase. That's when I discovered that it was held together underneath with DUCT TAPE.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Sandy and Billy. I had some issues with the extended warranty, had numerous back and forth battles with the coverage provider and kept getting non-stop rejections (even though the package showcased that it was fully covered). Going back to Richmond VW as my last resort, Sandy empathized, acknowledged my frustrations and literally went above and beyond. He introduced me to Billy which took care of every single detail. Everything was taken care of in a matter of 2 weeks. I cannot express my appreciation enough and this one reason is enough for me to keep coming back to the brand. It's not only because of their great vehicles, its because of the people from Richmond VW. It's these extra miles that earned me a customer for life (I'm currently on my 3rd car from them).

My experience with Volkswagen Richmond was pleasant. The salesperson Alfred was transparent and efficient, and made sure to provide as much detail on the car as possible, and gave me confidence in buying the car. Michelle Louie the Finance Manager was extremely helpful to me and helped me meet my budget and was also really nice and transparent. Overall these two people made me feel welcomed and there was no sales tactics or pressure at all. Highly recommend working with these two as they will not disappoint your car buying experience.

Anna Kim is the best car sales I've ever dealt with. We have been to many car dealerships for the past month, and met many people, they are all quite different, but I have never met a sales that is nearly as nice as Anna. She talks softly, answers question promptly, if she can't she'd text co-workers to find out answers, when you leave the store she walks out bows towards you while saying thank you and goodbye. This type of manner is rare in North America, and so much more valuable considering the rudeness, deception we saw at other places. Her manage was pretty nice too, when he did the negotiation, he didn't hide any numbers, he straightaway told us how much they'd sell our trade-in, how much we can sell in private, and if we don't trade in the price is same. Yes, there's the key-fob insurance, but when I pointed it out he just crossed it out right away, as you can tell the boss made them include those. They know what they can do and offer and what they cannot, very honest, no BS. For the things out of their hands they try to figure out a way to save you money and effort. And they show enthusiasm of wanting your business in this era when the supply cannot meet the demand. Unfortunately, we didn't end up buying the car, however, I do wish I could give Anna my business. There's even a bit of regret I feel not completing the deal. At least I hope this review can help her business and more people to notice this place to shop for used cars.

Terrible customer service! Do yourself a favour and buy your vehicle elsewhere. The whole experience was negative. They played games and tried to 'nickel & dime' us. Then when we made an appointment to pick up the car they made us wait and wait. There are plenty of places to purchase a car it is the experience that will bring you back and we will not go back to Volkswagen of Richmond.

We recently visited this place just to browse and perhaps look into a nice 4-door Sedan…. We knew what specs, bells and whistles we were looking for but not the exact model…. YES, we did walk away with a nice Certified Pre-owned on the same day.

We were set up with a very nice Brand Specialist Anna Kim, from the moment we exchanged our Hi’s and Hello’s … I truly felt that Anna was not your typical Sales person, she listened and she understood…. And At any point I never felt that I was being pressured in making a decision “today” sort of speak. It was a pleasure dealing with her.

Once the price and sale numbers was being finalized, we then were introduced to Michelle Louie, the Finance Manager…

I cannot say more GREAT things about Michelle… I work in the Financial/Banking industry (and we have worked closely with Car dealerships), and that I am familiar with the roles and responsibilities of each positions are. Lets just say that I had a biased & pre-determined expectation on this stage of car purchases….

But oh brother! Michelle completely blew us away! While they may have an agenda or process in walking a client through this stage, she tossed all that, she listened, absorbed, examined and catered to what we truly need! The whole coercive experience that other dealerships exhibits… none of this was played or shown during our time at this dealership. She conducted herself with a high pedigree of pride and professionalism.

After searching for a vehicle for the last few months and being lured in by countless other dealerships and wasting hundreds on ferries I finally stumbled across Volkswagen of Richmond. Originally I thought it would be difficult to get financing from a dealership outside of my city but Michelle Louie made it quick and easy. With her background in sales she made my experience much better as the salesmen didn't seem to know much of anything about the vehicle I was looking for or the actual cost of it. Michelle took control of the situation and got me out of the doors with a new car and a smile on my face.

There was a chance I can be their loyal customer but now I will never go back to the business. I've brought my 2013 passat to the dealer twice since 2020. The experience of my first interaction with the dealer was great. One of the window actuators was broken, and the technician replaced with a new one. It worked smoothly, and defintely deserved the $700. No complain.
Then I came back to the dealer on Jun 8th, 2021 because the engine oil pressure warning light showed on my dashboard. Initially they offered me diagnosis, and thought replacing the engine oil and oil filter would probably solve the problem, which was totally fair. After about two hours, Sam the rep came to me and told me it failed the road test and the cause remained unclear. He said the technician might need another 3 working hours ($150/hr) for the diagnosis and could not be completed that afternoon. This was also a fair deal. I accepted and waited for their call.
Sam did give me a call today, and this time I cannot accept his offer. He mentioned the technician checked some components like circuits and still was unable to find where the defect is. The "best" option was to let the technician look for the cause for another 4 hours, and there is no guarantee for any result. So potentially, $1200 = nothing. Of course I refused and took my car back after paying approx. $800.
To be honest, I don't feel angry but just disappointed. I appreciate Sam's service attitude but the whole thing did waste me an entire afternoon and bucks. I don't think customers deserve this when they got charged for $150 per hour.

Suggestion:
You better find somewhere else to repair your VW.

Very happy I got an almost new Atlas at 3.25% interest. Used cars usually have a higher interest rate, and I got what I consider to be a great deal on my Atlas.

I brought my VW Tiguan in to Cowell for a scheduled service and because the 'check engine' light had recently turned on. I paid for a full vehicle diagnostic and then also to replace the cam shaft position sensor which is what they was causing the engine light to go on. I picked up the car and less than a week later, the 'check engine' light is back on again. They were thoroughly professional and lovely to deal with, but this raises some questions for me about their attention to detail and quality of their work.

I went to VW Cowell after finding online a car that I wanted. The car was in the exact condition as it was posted, overall pretty good and solid car. There was no hidden damages or whatsoever. Made an appointment with a great salesperson called Gil. He made me fell really comfortable, allowed me to take the car for a test drive. Negotiation went pretty smoothly, no hidden added charges. I was able to do the whole process from testing to insurance in a single morning. The whole team was great, an overall excellent experience. Really recommend.

Extremely satisfied with their service department. Jon Fishman, my service adviser was super understanding, helpful and patient. He went that extra mile to get my car fixed within my budget and time. Would recommend Cowell VW and Jon without any doubt.

Really unimpressed with customer service I have gotten with my lease (I'm about a 1 of 4 years through at this time.) They promised all oil changes would be covered. I got redirected SIX times when inquiring about this then.was told to call the manager to sort it out from my sales rep who promised me the oil changes. He did not offer to talk to him or sort it out at all. I've also had to pull teeth to get a loaner car for the time my car was in the shop (for a faulty part). Really overall disappointed.

VW Cowell is by far my favourite VW dealer. I recently purchased my 3rd vehicle with them. They are professional. Fair and will go out of their way to provide a suitable deal for their customers. The sales manager is tip top. The sales people are welcoming and not pushy. Shout out to AJ for his hard work and genuine determination to get me the car I wanted.

Didn’t purchase my VW with them but they still provide me with excellent and better service than where I bought the car from on Main st Vancouver. When it comes to sending the car in for services or repairs, service staffs are super friendly, very patient and really tried to help me out, thank you Sam.

The entire team at Cowell VW in Richmond set the absolute standard when it comes to how a dealership should function, treat its customers, and give an honest transparent price on what every VW dealer in the lower mainland is selling. I want to thank Jon Fishman for going beyond the call of the job and stepping up countless times for years now. To this day if I or anyone in our car enthusiast community runs into trouble whether that be on a weekend when everyone's closed, Jon has truly been there to answer questions and or sort out bringing the car in immediately for repair. This review is from experience with two other VW dealerships in lowermainland. Which others are good but Mark Hansford and the team stand out from the rest and deserve my gratitude for the years of help with my 2018 golf R. I won't go anywhere else.

After purchasing 5 VWs in my lifetime so far, this is by far the worst experience I've ever had.

- I Brought my car in for its first service, even though I live an hour away and could go to closer VW service centres. I wanted to give this agency a chance to make it right. I am a business owner and appreciate businesses that make mistakes and own up to them and try to make them right.

- Kong the sales manager promised he will speak with the general manager for me to see if they can do something for me to change the tide of this relationship. Because there is a list of issues I have with them:
1. The car I purchased was paid for as a new vehicle with all the extra charges that come with that. But there was 2-3 issues with it right off the bat.
2. They didn't call, email, or check up on me. No followup, no care after the car left their store. I waited for them to call but it never happened, and it is my mistake that I didn't take it there during the peak of the pandemic.
3. When I drove all the way to Richmond to meet with them and explain the situation, Kong said he will handle it. I come back to pickup the car, and the other manager on duty had no idea, and no care either. He wasn't good customer service at all either, it was obvious he only cared for commissions and not customer troubles.
4. The next day I call Kong, and he was confused why nothing happened. He said he will handle it and speak with management and get back to me
5. Its been over two weeks now and no call nothing.

I really tried to give this team and agency a chance. Not only do they not handle after-sales customers well at all (you'd think a luxury automotive group would have a better standard), but their service department left the problems with me because they could not replicate it. So I still have the same issue with the camera happening.

It is sad that I even have to write this. I don't write bad reviews, and I pay good money that is hard earned, and feel bitter about doing business with them.

*Update*
They called me to check on service, not solving my issue because they offered nothing new and still want me to come all the way to Richmond. This team is obviously not customer service focused, they lost my business for sure. Other VW go above and beyond to keep you loyal, don’t be fooled by this agency as they’ll leave you after you make your purchase.

I've been dealing with Cowell VW for the last 6 years and refuse to visit any other VW dealership. They treat you like family once you walk through the doors and make getting a new vehicle an easy and wonderful experience. I deal with Gil when getting a new vehicle because he knows exactly what he's doing and doesn't play games like other dealers do. I also only go to Cowell for my servicing aswell. Jon in service is such an awesome person. I have never met a person from service who is as nice and knowledgeable as Jon. He will do his best to go above and beyond for the person he's dealing with. Jon is the sole reason why so many people from the VW tuner scene get their cars serviced at Cowell. Thank you Gil and Jon for making my experience at Cowell a great one!

Do Not Ever Buy your Volkswagen from Raymond (which I will not revise as Raymond knew the car he sold me was left at Odessa for a long time with too many kms on it). He is a straight scammer. Bought a brand new car and already had problems from the start. Car was given from Odessa, which already had 400 km on it. Plus the engine makes a weird noise. Every time I go to ask them to fix it they keep saying nothing is wrong and that is how the car is made. Buy it from any other dealership besides them!

Jacky Ku is your guy! We bought a Golf SportWagen from this dealership and had a very positive experience with sales guy Jacky. He is the person to go to if you are looking to buy a VW here. Extremely professional, patient, kind and took care of even the smallest details.

By the time our paper work was being processed, he got the car ready, even put the plates on and helped transferred our stuff to the car. Answered all questions and was very polite. Explained everything in detail.

I just have one small problem to share - we had to go through an enduring wait but it wasn't the problem of the staff. Jacky went beyond his way to make us feel comfortable. He felt so bad for us as well. It was our fault for we arrived later than our appointment, and the financial person had taken the next client in - makes sense. But after 2 hours of wait, I realized that the finance manager, Jocelyn Kennedy was stretched thin.

Most professional financial manager ever, the woman was juggling multiple things and not even once she had a frown on her face. She was professional, kind and smiling as she juggled through three clients. She didn't take a minute's break and stayed extremely professional and cheerful through the whole process.

Only later when I asked someone, I got to know that they are understaffed. Full points to Jacky and Jocelyn - 10/10 and I hope the dealership hires someone to take off Jocelyn's load and also to not keep customers waiting.

I bought my car 4 yrs ago and this review might be late but I believe its worth it to post because of the service I got. John went above and beyond to help find me the car I want. Back then I didn't have a regular income and I only had a fixed amount that I had set aside for a car for work and he helped me find a reliable car within my budget. Went to Honda initially across their dealership and the salesperson there just laughed at me and said "you cant have anything on that price! " like seriously. But luckily I met John from a friend, and he gave me a beautiful Jetta 2015 Trendline which Ive had for four years now, very happy with it, no issues at all! Highly recommended place to get reliable car and service!

Came here for servicing. Great experience from the moment I walked in (Information desk staff were cheerful and helpful) to checking into servicing, and then servicing from Jackson. The staff were extremely pleasant to deal with, very informative and good about explaining how long the estimated servicing would be and what I could expect to have checked prior to. They also have a courtesy shuttle that drops you off while you wait. Overall very happy with this branch and I plan to return here next time.

Just want to give a big thumbs up and a 5 stars to Shan, she has been an amazing salesperson, very professional, and not pushy at all! She was very patiently about going through all the questions we have and all the features that was on the car that we purchase! Service is terrible. They make you feel like a huge inconvenience.
They find issues a month after the warranty expires! And nothing before that.
Go figure!
