DAAN Korean Cuisine Restaurant

Portion was too small and the pork had a bad smell that I couldn’t stand on.

Pork bulgogi has a strong meaty smell, and the amount of food is too small for the price. The stir-fried squid is edible, but I don't want to buy it again at this price.

Menu: Seaweed rice rolls are only available for lunch, not for dinner, so don’t come for dinner

Services: A female customer was yelling at her husband at the isolation counter. The volume affected the atmosphere of the entire restaurant, and the staff did not stop her.

When paying, the clerk saw us choosing 10% tips. He immediately blackmailed us and had a very bad attitude. He immediately rudely cleared the countertops, cutlery, and cups. We hadn't finished eating yet, but there were no other customers waiting to be seated.

I regret giving too many 10% tips!

Will never come to this restaurant again in the future

We had the seafood tofu pot, the taste was great but the seafoods seems not fresh, felt vomiting and sick after having the meal, not a very good experience at the moment.

Consistently great food and good prices, sometimes long waits as they're popular but service is quick and efficient. Standout dishes are the gamjatang, beef gimbap (lunch only), soondubu and japchae.

You are suppose to close at
3 - 4, but when we arrived at 2: 15pm the waitress said you just closed because the kitchen was already closed. We stayed outside and waited for a while undecided if we will still gonna wait till it opens again. Was sooo hungry because we came from cambie and we already planned to have our lunch there (garden city/blundell). Then from outside we can see 3 people came out from the kitchen and started eating even if there were still customers inside. Our concern is if you want to close early then you should change the 3 - 4 to 2 - 4 so customers can plan ahead. Maybe they want to EAT EARLY so they can SLEEP from 3 ro 4. TOO BAD TOO SAD for us.so dissappointed. So instead of eating there we just decided to eat somewhere else and never go back there again.

Great food. Good price. Pork bone soup is creamy hearty and delicious. Service could be alittle better. Ventilation should be improved, too fummy.

Probably the most tasty Korean food in Richmond. Busy all the time. Be ready to wait for 30 min to 1 hr.

Very small restaurant with excellent taste and good portion. Will definitely come back again. The only thing I didn’t like is they charge 50c for each to-go box.

VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! What is good food when it has below standards customer service!? I was dining with my 6 yr old daughter last night, we got there around 8: 15pm, i asked the waiter named “James” if they’re still open and he replied that they are. The food was served around 8: 30 and we started eating. At around 8: 50pm while my daughter and I are still eating our food, the waiter named “James” told us that they were closing by 9pm and he brought with him takeout boxes and the my bill/Tab without me asking for it. And when im done paying him around 9pm, he started cleaning up the table even though we’re not done eating yet. The worst thing that he did was pull out the plate of my daughter while she’s still eating. Imagine the reaction of a 6-year old child if you pull out their food while still having a bite. I told the waiter that what he did was wrong and unacceptable because he was being rude in front of a child, but he just answered back that its past 9pm and they have to close already. I wanted to punch that waiter in the face right there and then because of my anger, but i have to keep my composure because i’m with my daughter at that time. I asked him “is this your store policy here? Pulling out plates even though the customers are not yet done eating? ” And he answered me “Yes, because we are just open until 9pm”. So that means that they are pulling out plates in front of the customers when its closing time? Isn’t this action rude? Imagine if you were in my place, and eating with your child, and they did it to you, what could have been your rection?

Have been to this place 3 times now this year. I think this is one of the best Korean food in Richmond, their menus are small but every single item on there tastes fantastic. Highly recommend their fried chicken appetizer, beef short ribs, and pork bone stew. The restaurant is quite small so seating is limited after 6: 30.

The only negative is that because their place is so small, the ventilation is pretty bad, so your clothes will smell like the restaurant when you get home.

The food is very good but the only reason I wouldn’t give this place a 5 star is because it is quite expensive. Most dishes are ~$16 but they range to ~$26. I do love they give you a tea pot and a jug of water at each table.

The waitress is not nice, and small portion for the food. I won’t come back, and definitely don’t recommend it.

Good, solid Korean restaurant. They don't have a large menu offering but the options are typical and done well.

We had the beef galbi, the pork bone soup hot pot, Korean fried chicken (original flavour) and spicy tofu soup. All of the dishes were flavourful and steaming hot which was so comforting.

It's too bad they don't offer more noodle dishes. The restaurant was not a BBQ place but heavy on meat offerings. It would also be nice if they have more side dishes and did not only limit to one free refill.

Service was good; we had a lady wait staff who was kind and polite. She was so nice she provided to us extra kimchi on the house, when she saw that we really like it.

It is in a plaza so not the greatest location. They close also quite early at around 8: 30 pm which might be because they don't have a lot of volume coming through because of where they are located.

Overall, thumbs up! A good find in Richmond.

Ordered the beef tofu soup. Food came within 15 mins, soup was nice and hot, very flavorful. Potatoes were nice and sweet, kimchi was good, sprouts were seasoned nicely. Rice had good texture, not too mushy, not too hard.

Whenever I eat here I always try one or two from their Menu. A must try: Bibimbap, Spicy Rice Cake and Bossam. The Seafood Tofu Soup is a little bit salty (just like what I've read from the other review here) hope they can tone it down. The Kimchi Fried Rice is just okay. The price is very reasonable for the food. Good customer service.

A small Korean restaurant just away from the main streets of Richmond where parking is plenty.

Food was great here, nothing blown away. Your typically mom & pop family run restaurants with some great menus. The popular dishes among the locals were their hot pot soups combo for 2. They don't have your typical Korean BBQ cook until your wrist goes numb. Everything is made to order and comes out super hot just like we wanted it.

Service was friendly but could be better. Lost a star for that.

Our first time eating here and food were amazingly delicious, very big portions for size small! Come a bit early as there’s always a line-up! Friendly staff!

Fan of Korean pancakes, stew pots, bbq hot plates, and fried chicken. Love seafood pancakes & hot plate (comes already piled up ready to cook on portable gas range). Limited seating in-store, take out available. Hope to try out lunch menu soon. On cold days gets especially crowded.

The food is very delicious, a little bit more expensive than others restaurants in the area, but at least the dishes that I tried were really good.

Ordered the baby octopus dish. The octopus was very soft and mushy. Seemed like old frozen octopus. The staff said it's normal. I've tried many octopus dishes before but nothing was like this. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

It gets full really quickly, especially on rush times. Great food and generous with the traditional side dishes! I had the spicy pork hot plate and is definitely made for Koreans, as I am totally overdosing in cold water to quench the heat!

Soooo good! Fast, nice staff, modern surroundings. Highly recommended. Young and old dining there.

Food was pretty good. Service was decent. We certainly could have been attended to a bit more. I was searching for our waitress to get another drink, but couldn't find her until the end of the meal. That was the only "poor" experience of note. Otherwise it was a good experience overall.

I had the baby octupus hot plate. It's as authentic as it gets. Generous portion and they do the spice and seasoning just right

Authentic Korean flavours! Good side dishes- well flavoured. Love their bulgogi stew and hot plates. They are quite small however so seating can be tricky sometimes.

Atmosphere was lovely. Hostess/waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was prepared quickly and was INSANELY delicious. An absolutely wonderful dining experience that I'd recommend to anyone looking for Korean comfort food ️

Really liked the tofu soup. Waitress didn't rush us even though closing time was nearing. Good service and food!

The menu was overall not that special, food tastes okay but the msg kicks in after. Right after we finished our meal, the server girl rushed us to leave because she had customers at the door waiting for about 1 minute only.

I have gone to many Korean restaurants and I would say they're the best! The stone blows (bibim-bap) are actually siziling hot! And great service!

This place is a hidden gem. Small neighborhood restaurant with good service even with only one server. The food came really fast and hot. Both the beef ribs hot plate and pancake were very delicious. Reasonable price. Definitely would go back again.

Korean restaurant in a strip mall with around 25 seats. We came here for lunch at around 1pm and with some luck they still have one table for us. This place is small with good vibe. Only one server but services are great and friendly.

Their Beef Bibimbap served in a stone pot. It is very good even without hot sauce. It is even better when mixed with hot sauce. The best part is the crispy rice at the bottom. It is a must try.

We also ordered their small JapChae which is not small in size. This dish is recommended by our server and we are not disappointed at all. It is very tasty.

If you like fried chicken and spicy food then you have to try their Chicken Balls. It is perfect for sharing.

The Pork Bone Hotpot is good for sharing on a cold day. It is a stew with lots of pork bones, potatoes and veggies. It comes with rice too. You can pick the level of spice. We have medium spicy and it is perfect for us.

Order seafood fry udon, hardly see tiny shrimp & squid, too much sauce. House roll manual show tuna but come with minced pork taste not as good. 3 people can't order 2 dishes.

Life can be so hectic and exhausting, doesn’t seem to get any easier the longer we live, and we all need to cherish restaurants that give us health and happiness. Daan 단 is one of my favorite places to eat and heal my mind in Vancouver/Richmond. Unlike some restaurants that are too sauce & spice heavy, Daan creates taste using well prepared ingredients.
I also greatly appreciated the level of service, despite the dining hall being extremely busy at all times during peak hours. A staff member offered a can of Pepsi with an apology, because she felt one of the dishes was served a bit later than the other ones. My company and I were touched by the gesture, as our delightful dinner experience did not make us even realize the delayed item (just a very slight delay). Let’s discuss takeout briefly as well. I takeout for important events time to time, and I remember my loved ones with high culinary standards were happy regarding the authentic taste and the caring way the packaging was done at Daan. I realize not all readers of this review will have the perfect 5 star dine-in and takeout experience I had, because how we perceive our feelings can fluctuate due to many factors related and sometimes unrelated to the the culinary experience itself. However, it is my recommendation as a fellow citizen, that you will likely find joy in trying the food and the services at Daan. This is my first Korean restaurant review as a Vancouverite of Korean background, and I am glad Daan was the reason for me to write this review. The food is good. My group of 4 ordered a combo for 4 (kamjatang, japchae, galbi short ribs, and seafood pancake) and it was just enough for us (i mean we left full up but not too full) so its portion is average. Good service. However, the place is quite small so we had to wait a bit to get in. Also, it is small so all the smell from the food and smoke from bbq are stuck in the restaurant and clothes. We will come back for good food tho.

Food was hot and good.
The kimchi fried rice was too spicy but overall everything was good.

Best Korea food I have tried in greater Vancouver hands down! Being Korean and having lived in Korea for 10 years + of my adult life, it’s hard to find a Korean restaurant worth spending money on! This place does everything so well! Korean fried chicken, their soups and their grilled meat! And I think their most impressive item was their seafood pancake. It was filled with seafood and had a crispy layer to it, and the owner is not shy to share his secrets! This place was amazing and I went with a group of different ethnic people and they all said it was the tastiest Korean food and Korean chicken they had tried by far! Thank you for accommodating our large party and making some of the dishes vegan friendly! Simply the best!

I like their selection/menu, simple and personalized. They're also good for sharing. Dining in was too loud and smoky as there seems to be no exhaust or any vent. Place is little but the food is good.

They wanted to repackaging take out because take out received 10% discount and their end shows a higher price with discount.
