Dami Sushi

Got 2 rolls for takeout lunch but should have just got one as I was full after eating one rainbow roll. Food was very tasty, service was fast and friendly.

Great food and friendly staff. The portions are good and prices are right but they always seem to forget something with their special dinner or dinner combos. 2 weeks ago we did not get our rice and icecream that they advertise on the menu that comes with the combo dish. 2 days ago we still didn't get the icecream, please don't advertise that it comes with the meal if you aren't serving it nor offering it at least. I will come back because the food is good and prices are right but maybe I will remind them about all the items that will come with the meal.

Great food, no frills! Love this little place. They definately knòw there stuff. Never disappointed!

This restaurant had the worst service i’ve ever seen, they missed items from our order, didnt fill our water or tea even when we asked for more. The food was bland and tasteless. They didnt once check up on us to ask how the food was or if we needed anything else. When it came time to pay we waited 15 minutes and no one asked if we would like the bill so we had to go up to the register, i asked for a discount for the missed items and they said no. Dont spend your money at this establishment

Awful customer service, we weren't greeted at all even after we said hello, brought us two waters and walked away, joined a table beside us and started eating, still not acknowledging us. Walked out, we'll never be back.

Visiting Nanaimo for a swim meet for my kids from the lower mainland. Our family loved the sushi. Would go back again when we are in town.

even the "monkey brain" sushi. Dont know about that name for a sushi but it was. Crew are very friendly and are all smileys. They seem to love what they do.very reasonable price point as well.

Fast and friendly service. Great location with easy parking en route to theatre and ferry. Fresh fish with wild salmon available

Food was good. Cleaning sucks though especially washrooms. Sticky floor under tables. Staff not friendly and welcoming

Dami is amazing. I love dine-in; it's wondeful to enter an eatery to enthusiastic welcomes. Take-out is just as wonderful. Presentation is always top notch and the prices are extremely fair compared to competitors close by. If you want your world rocked, try the Crazy Girl Roll and the Yam Yam Roll.

First sushi experience in this city. It was delicious and refreshing! I got Yakisoba, mixed sushis and tempura. I forgot to take pictures as I munch. Nice and warm ambiance coming back nextime to get some takeout delivery. I will add some photo soon!

LOVE THIS SUSHI PLACE! Mid range quality, yummy, consistent, very affordable prices. This is my go to sushi place in Nanaimo and will be for years to come I think. Quickly made for pick up orders and never disappoints me.

We ordered through SkipTheDishes App, and it was the worst sushi we’ve ever had.
It looks and tastes like it was made days ago. The avocado was brown and the crab meat was horrible. They also gave us the wrong chicken, which is extremely dry.

Absolutely love it here. Friendly greetings when we walked in the door. Service was great. Food was fast and delicious. Will definitely be going back

A foodie friend in Nanaimo recommended Dami to us in 2016 and we were impressed: delicious sushi at reasonable prices. Tempura was good too. Now it's 2021 and this was my first time back on the island so I had to get sushi there. Not disappointed, still great 5 years later and a year and a half into the COVID train wreck.

The server was great and most of the food was good except one, the big mama roll. It tasted horrible! Completely inedible. The chicken looked like it had been left out for days and tasted about as good as it had been. When I brought it to the servers attention she was apologetic and took it to the back. When she came back and said they would give me 50% off of a roll that I ate one piece of. It was a 16 dollar roll. Not a cheap one. I was super unimpressed.

This place is amazing! Always get the orders right, decent serving sizes and great taste. When we had in-person dining, we always had great service!

The Sushi was quite good. Ambience lacking. Service was friendly but sluggish. Covid restrictions in effect which is the norm these days. A little on the pricey side. I would be more inclined to drop in for lunch or for take-out.

Great sushi! All your favourites are there as well as many creative offerings. Eat in or take out. The ambience is very pleasant as is the staff. Service is reasonably quick and worth the short wait.

Dinner special is the best if you want all the things for a decent price. Quick service and food always, and very delicious.

Less expensive but freshness and professional enough. Good place if you want to eat fish sashimi

Great sushi in our neighbourhood. Very enjoyable night, with three special sushi and mixed tempura to top of the evening. Will be back more often.

This is the best Japanese restaurant in town. Very authentic and excellent service whenever I get there.food is definitely delicious. Also price is reasonable. The guy server or manager was friendly and considered my table. Thanks to him.

Love this restaurant! Food is always fresh and tasty with reasonable price. Beer or hot sake makes it even better! Nice and kind servers. Definitely recommended!

My fiancee and I love eating here! As vegans, We highly recommend to others like us, that there are many options for you without fish. I always get the Green Salad and Veggie Caterpillar Roll, and Tempura. The presentation and taste is always amazing.
They can get VERY busy, so be prepared over dinner rush to wait a little, but usually it's worth it!:)

We love this place! It's our "go to" on date night. The staff is friendly and the food is great, we even got a specially made roll, off menu from the manager! Loved it so much!

I ordered vegetable udon soup and there were next to no vegetable.my husband ordered chicken udon and it was only slightly better. We have ate here a dozen times and each time we are.less impressed.

Great quality, good service, great prices. Flavors are on point. I definitely recommend. The sushi is made with care, with a beautiful presentation.

Bottom line? The sushi is made with care and tastes great. The servers, while friendly enough, need to communicate more with their tables. Average prices. Cold by the front door. Meals prepared quickly but taste like they took hours.

This was the first sushi restaurant I ever went to, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved that they served tea, and everything about the restaurant felt authentic. Our waiter was really friendly, and the service was speedy. And I must say, the food was absolutely delicious. I hope to go back, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good restaurant in a heartbeat!

Super fresh sushi. I really enjoyed the salmon and tuna that I ordered. Our waitress was nice and attentive and we received our meal quickly. I'll definitely be going back.

The food is fantastic, but unfortunately the service could use a little more attention. Our group was charged for food that was ordered but never arrived for instance. Despite that the food is so tasty I still wouldn't rate it any less than 4 stars. Enjoy!

Have been going here for over 5 years and have always enjoyed my meals. Tonight I had a tuna roll that had a bone in it. The rolls also were falling apart and I noticed fish flesh from another fish on the rolls. I brought the bone to their attention and they did apologize but did not take it off the bill. That really didn’t concern me but the quality of the food did. Definitely had the ‘b’ team in tonight. Service was good though and therefore they got more than one star.

The tofu outshone the crab.nice atmosphere and comfortable great service.unfortunately the food was underwhelming. The crab in my deep fried California roll had barely any flavor.the ingredients tasted like they were a few days old. Maybe due to dining on a Sunday, but overall the textures were good the technical part was spot on, but the flavors were muted and not really there. I am saddened by this meal.sorry Dami, but when the agedashi tofu is the star of the meal you have to work on your seasoning. The rice was under seasoned and slightly undercooked.unfortunately I had slightly higher expectations than what I experienced.

Waitress was not attentive to details but the young man seemed to be very expierenced waiter and friendly. Food was great, I usually take all family and friends to this place maybe time to try elsewhere.

We are spoiled with our favorite sushi joint at home. The dynamite rolls in this place seemed shy of prawn tempura and the accompanying nigiri fish was very thin by our experience. Service was good, but food could have been much better.

Restaurant capacity overwhelmed by number of customers and no where near enough staff - both front end and in the kitchen. I've been going here for literally years and this was really bad. Very disappointing.

I am extremely dissapointed in the food and the service I recieved tonight. I came here with my sister and ordered a beef terriaki bowl.

Expecting a sizzling hot iron pan on a wooden board with a separate rice dish, the waitress brought me a regular looking plate of cold rice, with luke warm beef and cold broccoli beside it.

When I asked the waitress if they would redo the dish for me, it was brought back on the same plate reheated in the microwave.

I told the waitress that if that is how it is going to be, I will not pay for my meal, and asked again for them to redo it again.

Another waitress then came to our table with the bill before it was even served to me!

I said, "hold on a mintute- I haven't even eaten yet- I am not paying! "

There was severe confusion on her part, so I had to explain their error.

My first waitress then came back to our table to 'confirm' I wanted it remade!

Finally, my meal was brought back to me- the PROPER WAY. I cannot believe the service I was given. Not one waitress there asked us how the food was, & my sister later pointed out that not a single apology was made for the - whatever - the fuck meal that was.

Excellent and always fresh! Regulars to this place will find themselves lovingly welcomed every time!

Food is very good. Great quality and presentation of the food, although my miso soup bowl did look "well loved". Prices are very fair.

Atmosphere is a very mature and traditional Japanese style. Music is kept low and seating is both comfortable and varied. I've seen families in here often, and individuals like myself.

I'm sad to see no takoyaki here (it's a personal fav appy of mine) but the chirashi don is extremely good and has a tonne of different fish in it.

Dami Sushi is Nanaimo's best kept secret. The food is exquisite. When it comes to Sushi this is my number one choice because the value for money for the quality of food I feel like I'm robbing them everytime I go. My personal favourite is the vegetarain catapillar roll, on it's own is the best reason to go. If you're looking for a great first date venue to impress take them here. A second date will be in the bag before you've paid the bill.

I ordered a bento box for lunch today and I think that was probably the best I've ever had! Everything was so fresh and the portions were big. I love the crunchy chicken and the tempura was perfect. Will definitely be back! There are quite a few Sushi restaurants to choose from in town, but this one can't be beat. A delicous variety of rolls with quick service and kjndly priced!

Took 30m for them to take our order.they brought out one of the dinners leaving one person at the table eating their entire meal in front of the table. Then the appetizers after a lengthy time. Sushi came 30 minutes after the appetizers, which at that time had already been a long time. Two stars because the food was good.

Service was poor, food was okay. Overall, a bit disappointing. Were there 2 years ago and it was much better.
