Darumaya Japanese Grocery Store

I had a positive experience in this store. They have a wider variety of products arranged in a orderly way. The store owner is super friendly as well. He offered me free boxes because i bought too many items.
The most special thing about the store is the sushi, i believe it’s being made by the owner themselves. It looks neat and appealing. I didnt buy it this time but i will consider getting their sushi next time.

My new favourite local Japanese store! They have a great variety of snacks and delicious sashimi. Came around closing and they recommended snacks and sushi. The kindness of the owner and staff cannot be found elsewhere:)

A small yet tidy, well-organized, lively Japanese grocery store which I would like to call as a hidden gem! Love their fresh sashimi/sushi selection, especially uni (both BC and imported) and bluefin tuna (from akami to chutoro and otoro). They also sell a variety of wagyu beef at reasonable prices:)
A wide selection of culinary ingredients and snacks are provided as well.

Always been a huge fan of this place. They have everything Japanese from snacks you'll never see at your usual grocery stores to fresh sashimi cuts. They even have meat selections like wagyu beef featuring both sirloin and ribeye cuts. The Japanese beef selections range from A3, A4 and A5 grades.

The meats are prepackages in different cuts and come in all sizes. You can get the thinly sliced or in steak form. Mind you though, some of these prices go upwards of $1500 for the more premium cuts.

Edit: Just tried their chirashi don for the first time and oh my goodness I am sooo impressed with the quality! A+

It’s a very cute Japanese grocery store with products you wouldn’t find in a standard supermarket.

Having been living in Japan, I was surprised to find ingredients and snacks that I’d typically find in a grocery store in Japan, but also authentic ones like Yatsuhashi mochi from Kyoto.

Bentos are a staple in Japanese grocery stores, and they have handmade sushi bentos and sashimi slices here which is nice to see.

Their Wagyu is certified with a big golden trophy which is quite impressive.

Overall, it’s a nice taste of Japan away from Japan.

Amazing quality to go sushi. Delicious crab, shrimp, and roe Inari sushi. Would definitely have sushi here again. Also, very authentic Japanese snacks. It's on the expensive side, but you do get what you pay for.

This little unassuming Japanese snack shop inside the Walmart plaza has a front section (upper right hand corner near the entrance) where they sell Japanese wagyu beef! They also sell real Japanese Kobe beef that is registered and one of the few places in Western Canada that is licensed/registered for this. They have so many grades of wagyu, each on a tray. The only problem is their beef is more expensive than other Wagyu places. I think you pay more to know that it’s guaranteed from Japan. I do feel that A3 and A4 were just as comparable if not preferred over A5 (which dripped of beef fat lol).

In addition to Wagyu beef, they also sell fresh sashimi. One time I also saw Hokkaido scallops and different grades of blue fin tuna from Otoro to Chutoro. All delicious!

Lovely little Japanese grocery store. They don’t sell produce but they have frozen imported meats and sashimi grade fish, lots of snacks, spices and staples. They also have a mini cooler where they make fresh sushi and fish power bowls. That being said, prices are fairly expensive compared to other asian grocery stores. Expect that you’ll be paying 10%-30% more for the same that item that you could get at Izumaya or even Walmart.
All that being said, If you buy from them, you’re guaranteed to get authentic Japanese stuff, especially if you’re there to buy Wagyu beef or sashimi grade meats.

Lovely Japanese store with all the fixings! They sell high quality and fresh sashimi which is consistently good. Their 50% off sale items at the front of the store are always a good deal. The employees are very friendly and helpful.

Carry some harder to find and more exclusive sashimi and a bit of wagyu and Kobe. Lots of other Japanese items but I was here just for some meat and fish

Service really depends on which staff work on that day. When I asked the staff to confirm the total items I purchased before I pay. She kept silent without repeat my answer. This is not acceptable. I think she needs to learn basic English and respond to customers' answers even though your customers are mostly Cantonese and Mandarin speakers.
The space is a bit narrow and not spacious.
I still recommend to try their fresh-cut sashimi, red tuna maki, and imported Japanese beverages.

Haven't got a chance to try out the sashimi. However, the Japanese snack and ingredients are over priced.

A lovely local Japanese store. Plenty of Japanese snack that you won't find in other stores. They also carry authentic Kobe and Wagyu A5 meat (frozen of course)

The choice here is overwhelming! They really have a huge variety of stock and it's hard to decide what to spend money on. They deliver on what's expected of a Japanese specialty grocer. They also focus on customer service with their free samples on the cashier counter and upon purchase as well as their membership options.

This grocery store has very high quality sashimi with reasonable price. The varieties of Japanese snack is also a selling point!

For groceries/cooking ingredients there isn't much here, but for snacks there is a huge selection, certainly many of the snacks can't be found at many of the other japanese stores in vancouver.recommend!

Staff are very friendly and patient. Products are very divers with shrimp crackers to frozen foods. Pokémon rice sprinkles!

I really like their customer service there, genuine and caring. Fresh sushi too! I hope they can make some nice lunch bento box too:)

Great variety of Japanese snacks and treats. Sashimi and meat too!:) They have a discount section, usually if I didn't find anything I want. I will just get some snacks from the discount section.

Having grown up in Japan, I have to say Japanese snacks are awesome! But, often they are not affordable prices in Canada and I had not even thought about buying Japanese snacks until I went to Darumaya for the first time. Darumaya has quite good selections of Japanese snacks. One great thing about them is products with close expiry dates are 50% off including various kinds of snacks. Thanks to them, our cabinet is full of Japanese snacks always: D

A nice little store for Japanese goods. Prices are decent, a little pricey but they're where else will you find such a wide assortment of Japanese goods? There's also samples to try and they even give you samples if you buy something. Very courteous staff.

Love shopping here to get hard to find Japanese snacks and drinks. Premium Wagyu beef from Japan available if you have the wallet for it.
