Dave's Fish & Chips

When we arrived they assigned us a table quickly, they took our order, we ordered crab cake and clam chowder as a starter, as main fish and chips and shrimp and chips, the waitress was very attentive, however I think that the kitchen was a bit saturated, because the main arrived first than the starters, it was definitely a good place to eat, everything was delicious! With the exception of the clam chowder which was bland and have few and the smallest clam i had ever seen in my life, the portions are good and everything is super crunchy!

Obviously changed ownership since I was here last. The owner was walking around with an electronic translator. The restaurant was dirty-chips lying all over the floor and the table was sticky. Ordered the 2 pce Cod fish and chips. The fish was awful- dripping with oil and the batter which accounted for 80% of the offering, was way too hard. The fries were edible, but slightly bitter- having likely been fried in well used oil. Pity to see this once good restaurant go downhill like this.

Food was pretty good. The New England clam chowder was very good but I’ve had better fish and chips. The batter was a bit too crunchy and the fries weren’t the greatest. The tartar sauce was pretty good. Nice decor but can be very loud due to the small space.

The fish was dry & the chips were little cut ends that seemed to have sat in the deep fryer most of the day couldn't even tell that they were made from potatoes

Waited almost 30 minutes for small fries on July 2 from take out window. Unorganized. Fries were cold by the time they gave them to me. Young girl lacked customer service skills

Great little spot. Unfortunately, the meal wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be, seeing it is right near the docks and where the fishing is plentiful! The fish was great! 4 stars for sure. The fries were a 2.5, not so great. Needed salt and they didn't seem deep fried? I don't know. They didn't have that crispy, freshness to them.

I had the oysters and they were pretty tasty, I'd give them a 3.5 but WARNING: they are extremely HOT! They are sealed in the batter, and there is SCALDING water trapped inside and it burned my lip! Wow! Just be aware.

I used to love this place. But this is the second time we had to wait three times longer than was originally told by the person who was taking an order. We placed an order for a takeout at 5: 30 pm and got our food at 6: 30 pm. It would be ok if we were informed about such a long wait time, but we were told 20 mins. If we had known, we would have opted for something else then. With a 1.5-year old to wait by the back door in the back alley is an additional challenge.
Food was ok.

Our waiter was friendly and gave us good service. There were 3 of us having fish & chips for lunch but because some of the fish pieces might have been a bit smaller, they brought a separate plate with an extra piece of fish for us. Pretty thoughtful and generous of them to do that!

Carmen was our waitress and she was superb.
Our tour director encouraged us to stop by for fish and chips. Very delicious. Home cut fries!

Good food, friendly family oriented staff. Great place for a pint and a plate of fish n chips.

Food is always great here! Funny enough, their chicken strips are extra delish hahaha. Service is always friendly and efficient.

My favourite Fish & Chips place to go to whenever I’m in Steveston Village.

I always order the 2 piece halibut & chips. The batter on the fish is always thin, crispy, never oily and the fish itself is fresh and meaty. The fries? It’s delicious and cooked to perfection every time.

The meal portion size is big and the service is great. It’s always busy whenever I go!

Better than Pajo's. Sizable poutine. Takeout available. Wait time can be 20-30 mins on weekends. Patio at the southeast corner of the restaurant. Should really have paper recycling bins. Free street parking.

We went on Victoria day and we understood that its busy so we're ok with the 45 mins wait for a table. Once we were seated, we weren't given menu until we asked for it 10 mins later. We have a toddler and the highchair is sticky! Instead of taking orders by the order that were seated, she took orders from other tables that were seated after us while we've been trying to order for 10 mins. We ordered crab cakes, clam chowder, First mate platter, and a 2 pieces cod fish and chips. It took them 45 mins just to get the clam chowder and crab cakes out? And then we have to wait for another 20 mins for the 2 main courses. Food is so-so, nothing impressive. The whole meal ended up took more than 1.5 hours and my kid got frustrated and lost patience as she has been seated for far too long. No wonder wait time is that long coz the kitchen took a long time too. Never going back again, not recommended.

The fish and chips is good. Not on the water front sadly. Service was great. Food was good not great!

Visiting from North Carolina for business. Great Halibut, great service and great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

I've been to Dave's probably 20 times by now.best fish & chips! Calamaris and coleslaw are also great

Good fish but the Batter is very greasy. Service could improve as well both for pickups and in house dining.

Always have fish & chips at Richmond Fisherman's Wharf, tried this shop first time and really disappointed. First when we were ready to order, waitress kept us waiting for a good 15 minutes before taking it. Then we waited another 45 minutes or so and did not have our food served, and yet other tables coming after us already have theirs. Questioned 2 waiter/waitress on duty and got a very pathetic response that "you are next" and not apologetic at all but instead with a bad attitude. One waitress, blonde tall one, meddled her finger in the fries on the plate before serving. Would not recommend this at all, for food or service.

Loved our food, and the attentive staff!
We had a big group of work people, and made a complex request with the bills which was absolutely no issue for the waitress. Would highly recommend their food and their service!

Best fish and chips in town! Highly recommend. Also, they have a gluten-friendly fish and chips meal which is not on the menu.
