Great boots at great prices. Service staff was kind, courteous and helpful too. I'd love to see this company get back on its feet. Support Canadian made footwear!

Atrocious customer service. Excuses excuses excuses. Covid blah blah blah. Staff at the physical location are not at all helpful. The prices are absolutely not in line with the quality offered. This company is a shell of what it used to be. Clown shoes hiding under every desk it would seem. I ordered Viberg boots instead and actually received customer service and a quality product. I encourage you to do the same.

Best boots I’ve ever had! Still looking great with the original leather from 16 years ago, they have aged so well and especially for how much I’ve worn them. Had them resoled a couple times in the shop over all these years, they’ve always come back somehow feeling even better than before. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and clearly care about what they do. Can’t wait to visit again when I’m back in Vancouver!

Stole wages from their workers requiring them to "buy" $600 on Boots each month. Might as well pay in company script. Disgusting practise

I bought 2 pairs of work boots 3 years ago (give or take). Wearing them every day hasn't really worn the leather much at all. Concrete formwork and scaffold means a ton of walking in/around and over sharp bar and rough ground. The leather picked up a few scratches, and I wore out the insoles, but they are still comfortable.
I guess the guy who sold them has moved on so can't comment on the sales experience.
I'll be looking for new heels and sole at some point, but as I've moved away from Van, I'll likely be hitting up a cobbler.

Customer service is lacking without going into detail. A wee bit overpriced in my opinion, yet hard to argue the quality of their boots is anything but top notch. Just don’t expect the level of service that took decades to build.

Zero stars for customer service
4 stars for boots (-1 for price)

I've worn these boots 142000 kms on a fast motorcycle and they've stood up to wind and rain. They're beautiful.

In the fall of 1980 (41 year ago) I purchased a pair of Black Beauty Dayons, from day one i used dayton oil or mink oit and black polish only. They have gone through falling trees in salt water even a bad motorcycle accident and a broken leg. I still wear them today. Excellent Boots

This company is just a shell of it's former great name. Horrible customer service and now the boots on the shelf are made by Canada west (except with a price tag of two or three times of what they costs retail from Canada west), only the made to order boots are manufactured in house, but much poorer quality than what they use to be. The lifetime warranty is a joke, and it only applies to boots purchased after the new ownership of the company, not boots prior.even than you will get accused of buying the boots used or whatever excuse they will come up with NOT to honor the warranty. Resoling a pair of boots should not cost almost $300 after tax! For this price, might as well buy a new pair of boots from Canada west boots, they are made by them, for Dayton boots, and the only difference is the name on the boots.

There are two excellent local hand made boot making companies in BC, but Dayton boots is far from being one of them.

UPDATE:

Just when we all thought Dayton boots cannot stoop any lower as a company, they go off and pull this stunt! Taking advantage and screwing over front line workers in the worst possible way, all for the sake of boosting profits is really low Hall Risk.

I'm located in Vancouver and needed a pair of work boots. I've been trying to support local businesses as much as possible, especially of late, and decided to buy Daytons. Ordered on-line and the boots were a bit big, but I was able to exchange in-store. Not only did I leave with the work boots, I left with some very lovely parade boots. Thank you Janna! Very happy with the out-of-the box comfort with both items. In case its helpful, I'm a Brannock 11.5 heel-to-toe, but a 12 D/E Brannock heel to ball. Short toes I guess. Both of my Daytons are 10.5. Parade boot is an E, and the work boot is a 3E.

The service is absolutely horrific. They encourage the use of e-mail over phone then either don't respond, or take days to respond. It's not like the old days at all. The new ownership is garbage. 5 stars for the boots, 0 stars for the ownership.
I have been wearing Daytons for almost 40 years. Love the boots, but it's a shame about the company. I would buy the company and improve it, dramatically, but I don't think they are in the market to sell.

Great service during the restrictions and their renovations. Love the communication every time we order

If I could go with a zero stars I would.

Gee thanks Hall not like I haven't tried emailing with zero responses. As a front line worker to drive all the way here to find out you are closed because Facebook and everything online isn't updated is ridiculous NOT COOL HALL!

It's archaic to use receipt paper as your gift cards considering Dayton boots range from $500-$800. It's also a bit embarrassing to be gifting someone receipt paper.

Just responding to the owner:
There seems to be a disconnect between what the owner is saying to what was provided the day we came in to purchase a gift card. There's no gift card the "unique electronic code" was printed and given to us on receipt paper. We even made a fuss about asking for a physical card, a scrap of leather or something other than receipt paper.

My negative experience is on par with the other ones on here.in the last 10 years I've bought 4 pair of boots from them.i guess new ownership is why the lack of service.i won't be buying any more.

Dayton has the boot manufacturing process figured out after decades in the business, which is not really a surprise given their reputation.

More unexpectedly, they have the best customer service out of any retailer that I've ever been to. Patrick is a pro and answered all of my questions in the shop with an impressive breadth of knowledge, gave expert advice advice when it came to the selection, fitment, treatment, and care of the 3 pairs of boots that I bought, and even let me test my spurs out in their shop to make sure that they would perform the task that I was buying them for. Hall also sent me a follow up e-mail a day after purchase asking if there was anything that he could do or if I had any other questions.

If I had more stars I'd give them. Thanks Dayton!

I post this review in specific reference to an experience I had with them rather than the boots I bought themselves.

When finalising my purchased I noticed the laces that were to come with the boots and asked, ‘Do you have another kind than this? My experience with these has been that they tear quite easily, with these metal eyelets especially I would bet. ’

The man looked at me kind of strange, as if I my question and request were absurd beyond reason. ‘No, these are good laces, we haven’t had any problems with them’.

Well, okay, I would assume you know boots better than I do, seeing as I had only had one pair in my life to that point.

Fast forward a few months, to when they’re breaking all over, and here you have the result a few months more after that: snapped and torn in four pieces - at they point they rubbed against the eyelet. I had been travelling through areas where replacing the laces was nigh impossible and resorted to tying them shred to shred. Sure wish I hadn’t trusted the supposed expertise of your employees.

(The boots themselves were fine for about a year, when one side’s stitching opened up and so it now provides zero water resistance. A very worthy purchase.)

New owners and the customer service has gone down hill! My husband and dad both have Dayton’s. When purchased they were told “lifetime” warranty.my husband had his boots repaired, for free prior to our wedding and prior to the new ownership. They were great and as they should be. When you buy boots for 800$ you should have them for life. My dad recently went in to have his fixed up. And was told not only do you have to pay. You have to pay upfront before they are even repaired. I’m sorry but you don’t pay for a service untill it is complete.the person who “helped” my dad was also very rude and condescending. He should probably look into learning some customer service manners.very unimpressed and sad to see this company go downhill like this. We won’t be buying any more Dayton’s and won’t be recommending them as we have in the past

I recently ordered a pair of Service Boots from Dayton, at their store in Vancouver, and am very happy with them. The staff was warm and helpful, and took the time to make sure I found the perfect size, including a modification to make them fit even better.

The turn-around time was much quicker than expected (quoted 4-5 weeks, were ready in 2 weeks).

If you're looking for boots, I'd strongly recommend visiting this shop. The quality & style of these is great, and although they're pricy, I think a fair price for the high quality of craftsmanship and materials. Plus they're hand-made locally (in the space right behind the storefront).

Greatest boots ever but I'm finding a store to buy them! It was pretty obvious I am not wanted in the main store! My toes are freezing so I'm sure i will have them today! Lol

Placed an order for a pair of Chuka (sp) boots and was ready in about a month. Loved the look of them and wore them quite a bit but unfortunately for me has having some comfort issues. Went in to speak to Patrick to ask if he had any tips and he brought back a gentleman from the back (Michael?) who was very helpful and apologized that they didn't fit right due to the arches of my feet which wasn't really their problem. Regardless they made some great insoles for me and gave me a deal moving forward to help with my feet. In my opinion definitely went well beyond anything I expected and have made my boots much more comfortable!

Would recommend for sure!
