The only restaurant around here. Both the draft beer and the salmon burger were delicious.

There's nothing really big to say about this place. Fries and chicken were good, the atmosphere was okay, and the service was great. It's not bad, but it's also not awesome. It's a nice place to hang out with friends to talk and drink.

I stayed at the hostel and tried out the Cafe a few times, hoping that it could redeem itself. Sadly, it didn't.

Service was a bit off and awkward at times but most of the people looked to be young adults, trying to get a start in Vancouver so I don't blame them for trying their best!

However the food was a massive let down! The only upside to the food, was the cheap prices. None of my food was seasoned and the portion sizes were incredibly off-putting. Like I'm an Australian dude, I know how to put away my food, but this was ghastly.

For a hostel pub, with a really cool beer garden, right by a beach, just felt like it needed to pick its game up.

Also, think they run a culinary program there? !? Being in the industry, that is mind-boggling! Save your money, go somewhere else!

We went for brunch on a rainy Saturday. Service was great and food came out fast. A lot of the customers were guests from the hostel/inn located above the restaurant.

We got classic breakfast and breakfast sandwich with side of bacon, plus two coffees. Total came to around $40.

The interior decor isn’t the best. On a sunny day I bet the outside seating is nice.

Was a wonderful little cafe attached to the hostel with very reasonable prices and wonderful food.

The burger was not only great, but great value, well worth a trip back. The service was less than stellar, only 3 tables occupied including ours and 2 guys working front of house and we still had to get up and go over to them after sitting there for 10 minutes to get our order taken. It was kind of downhill from there, first they couldn’t remember to bring one of the orders of fries unsalted. Then the forgot the beet root salad. Then the forgot that the beet root salad on the menu is on a cabbage coleslaw eith feta cheese on it, not a side garden salad with 8 small chunks of beets and no feta.

As my daughter used to say about her brother when she really wanted to irritate him, “at least they are nice looking boys”.

There were a couple more senior staff who came in part way through the meal, things picked up from there but it feels like they were doing damage control.

But I would go back for the burger, just with really low expectations on anything else.

I have ordered hot chocolate listed for $3.50, got disgusting brown water for $4.00 plus tax. When I complained, incompetent staff just said he can’t do anything with that. I will try beer next time, they have great beer garden.

Super good, I ate the breakfast sandwich with hash browns. Sriracha mayo and grilled onions on the sandwich was a great touch. Hash browns were crispy and garlicky. Very tasty all around

Solid place with unbeatable location and average food. Unique establishment and setting. Parking is very pricy if you use the Lot. Excellent for kids and nice outdoor setting. Woefully understaffed. Zero management. You can wait a very very long time sometimes.

Found this gem, went for breakfast today and it was great: special shout out to the biscuits which were perfectly light and salty. They blueberry jam was also a standout and they make (and sell) their own preserves. Can’t wait to come back!

Excellent place for a sandwich near Jericho beach. Amazing staff, friendly, helpful and engaging. They only offer sandwich but with great quality. The daily pasta wasn't available. The patio es perfect, nice, sunny and quiet.

From what I understand, the DICED Discovery Cafe is a self-funded culinary training facility so I was intrigued and excited to check out this unique concept cafe and also because it was in the unassuming Hostelling International Vancouver location by stunning Jericho Beach Park.

I heard great things about their burgers and they did not disappoint. The double patty cheeseburger was beefy and juicy with gooey melted cheddar cheese, sliced pickle, tomato and lettuce on a fluffy bun. It was a good value at just under $10 but the single burger is a great value at under $6. Sadly, the beetroot salad paled by comparison. It was diced beetroot, that part was fine, but it was a small portion on a mound of shredded cabbage. There was a creamy dressing drizzled only on top of the beets leaving the cabbage raw and undressed. We would not order this again.

It was a beautiful summer mid-afternoon so we chose to eat outside at one of the picnic tables scattered in the large fenced-in yard instead of inside the warm cafe. It was a very casual and relaxed atmosphere for eating. At the same time, the service was a little too casual and relaxed, for eating.lol As there was no signage or anyone to greet us at the gate, we went inside to ask if we were supposed to order before sitting outside. We were told someone would take our order outside and they handed us a couple little paper menus. Back outside, we waited awhile before someone came with a bottle of water and cutlery and before we finally placed our order. As we ordered, we realized we both had different menus - a breakfast and a regular menu. Awhile later, another server came by with a third menu. The server hadn't seen our first regular menu before. We were so confused as to what they actually sold but we shrugged it off as we had already ordered. The burger came after awhile and then the beetroot salad. We were not checked on otherwise and we had to flag someone down for our bill. We ran out of water but didn't bother asking for more.

Bottom line, I would come back but my friend would not. I want to try their other burgers and I hear their breakfasts are good too. Burgers are a good value. The servers were friendly, just lacked attentiveness. It could be they were short staffed like most places these days during Covid. Just allow extra time if you decide to check this place out.

Neat little cafe / dinner close to Jericho beach with a wide open lawn patio. Prices were fair and the food was really good. Service was a tad slow but probably just busy as it was lunch. Parking is paid lot but you can easily find parking down the street for free if you’re willing to walk a bit!

A very good place for a cheap, but delicious burger and beer. We go often and it never disappoints. We're always surprised it's not busier given the excellent quality-to-price ratio! The outdoor patio is also very nice in the summer.

Generally speaking D. I. C. E. D is closed on Mondays but today (August 22,2022) they decided to open. Not that there were many diners around noon. Both breakfast and lunch menus were available so I had Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The poached eggs were served on a biscuit (for English readers a scone) with excellent fried potatoes (not chips or french fries). The poached eggs were perfect with delicious liquid gold yolks. Service was very friendly but tended to be more concerned about what they didn't have than what they did. At present there is a general shortage of sriracha - which doesn't bother me at all but others have different tastes. Others had tuna tacos, a burger and and omelette and the presentation of all four was excellent.

Minor niggles. The umbrellas that were supposed to provide shade were simply stuck through a hole in the table without the essential ballast to hold them in place. When the wind blew they became erratic. The toilet facilities are shared with the adjacent hostel. The door is marked with a pictogram of a shower: I wasn't looking for a shower.

Neither niggle will deter me from returning. This place is well worth the trip!

Great food, awesome service and tasty drinks in a perfect location with outdoor seating and dog friendly! Love this place! The food is spectacular! The prices are phenomenal.

Excellent breakfast at a good price. Good outdoor seating. **Very good gravy and biscuits. ** Yes, the hours don’t always match - it’s a social good enterprise with tasty, inexpensive food right by the beach. What more can you really ask for? It’s a gem where you can easily bring kids and doggos and hang out with your friends over some beer. Pretty perfect if you ask me. Please Tip very very well!

We have tried to enjoy this apparently fun and inventive restaurant three times, but the website hours don't match operating (kitchen) hours - a frustrating oversight - and we've never made it in! Phone calls aren't answered. Conclusion: have a backup plan if you go.

A very nice location with friendly staff. The prices are okay. Not expensice but also not cheap. Moreover it is all for a good cause.

We ordered food there twice. Unfortunately on both days it was served cold. On the second day we told the waitress. We mentioned that we want to keep the food, because we hate to throw away food. But still we wanted to give them feedback.

To be honest we expected that they would offer us a discount or something. In our opinion that is a common and reasonable way to react in those cases, but nothing happened.

However, we would come back when we are around.

This place is SO GOOD. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to come to this neighborhood gem. The breakfast is amaaaazing and the service is very good. I had the pork belly breakfast sandwich - omg. Plus I get to sit on the patio with my dog and have a beer in the sunshine. A+ ️

Great hamburgers and pub type food.
This place could be epic but I gave it a three as they close when they want to and I have seen many patrons turned away because the kitchen decided to close.
Run properly and it could be a gem

Best hollandaise we’ve ever tasted, bravo! We loved the breakfast so much we came back for the burgers. Poutine was enough for two people! Fantastic food, incredible prices, good cause!
