Dinesty Dumpling House

Haven’t been back since the start of pandemic and finally decided to come back recently. Staffs are a bit impatient, but I guess it’s because they have many tables to serve. Sadly to say the food taste way different than before (not in a good way). I guess different chefs?

Good spot on Burnaby for quick food. Plenty of tables here so not sure if you need to make reservations, it was half full when we went. Lots of options on the menu as well as lots of options for different types of dumplings. Good comes out fairly quick and the service was good.

Good food, overall pretty good.

Main reason I'm reviewing is that the men's washroom has no locks. The stall has had its bolt removed and the only thing that keeps the door closed is a little garbage can in the corner you push against the door. The washroom door itself has a lock, but its bolt has also been removed so it's useless. Pretty weird for a 1 person washroom.

Lady demanded tip. We paid card but we're going to leave a cash tip but before we could, she started to question why we didn't tip and if we don't like the service next time we should pick up the phone (hand gesture) and do take out. Very rude! Robot brings the food. Very disappointed as the food was delicious but the lady was awful. Doesn't work like that here. Very unprofessional and mean.

It’s been so long to find a good decent Shanghainese food restaurant. Soup dumplings are exactly. You can treat this as a quick fast food restaurant. Don’t expect too much service.

Food was alright. Not spectacular. Average. Place was quiet on a Sunday. Hope this place make it. It has been slowly going quiet since it opened. Take outs will help. 15 workers on a shift needs the revenue to pay the overhead cost.

Pleasantly surprised! Excellent service, modern, clean, and very affordable prices for what you receive. They were out of a few items, but the dishes that we did get were tasty. 3 people came to $50 including tip with high satisfaction. Make sure to try their xiao long bao!

Had lunch.ordered beef noodle soup.it was OK. Not as spicy and flavourful as I would have preferred d but alright. Xiao long baos were good but again, seem to lack a bit of seasoning/flavour. Also got the braised mushrooms wrapped in bean curd sheets.this one definitely wasn't good. Mushrooms were chopped up instead of slices and bean curd was deep fried, except it wasn't crunchy at all. Disappointed with that dish. Overall, it was OK.

Good amount of vegetarian options. I was impressed with the little icons next to the items to indicate what was in the meals which made it very easy to spot all the vegetarian items. Very delicious food and great service. Best steam buns I've had so far. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

A tad on the pricier side, portions are ok, quality ain't too shabby. There was a promotion for the beef noodles for $8 posted by the front entrance. Orders rung in at regular price, & when asked about it, "no promotion". Sign was taken down prior to my departure.

That's ok, I'll continue on going Wang's Shanghainese at Wessex & Kingsway.despite it being cash only.

The service mindset of the server staff in the restaurant is rude and rude. The server asked me for more tips, and I fully paid the tip, but rudely asked for more tips in front of my family. A pleasant evening with my family ruined the rude behavior of the employee server. I definitely will no longer use this place and not recommend it to people around me.

Very consistent in terms of quality of the food, dine in, or take out! However, the service is hit or miss! Very specific about when you can order food to go. If you are even a few minutes passed their cut-off time, they will not take your order! Great place for large groups or family get togethers! Will definitely order again!

Pricey given the portions. Tastes are usually okay if you stick with the popular dishes (e.g. XLB), but other dishes are just okay. The fish dish I ordered barely have any meat on it and it's way too sweet for my taste.

Having an open kitchen, knowing all customers will be able to look at everything going on inside a kitchen that we all eat the food from, if you decide to put on a mask, please put them on properly. Having a mask under your chin, making it LOOK like you are following the order but actually don’t care how to follow it properly, just makes it even worse than not following it.
All of our food was decent for the night. One star is good enough to give towards it. Service, on the other hand, was not impressive. No one bothers to clean up the dishes after all food was done. We had to have our dessert with a table full of dirty dishes. Didn’t even give some extra clean dish for us to enjoy our desserts.

Best soup dumbpling ever. Reason for 4 star is that I feel the resturant and the kitchen lacks hygein.

Must try the soup dumplings, but eat when they are hot and fresh. Try the steamed buns with fried bottoms.

Taiwanese style Shanghai foods. The xiaolongbao is pretty standard. My favorite is the pork and shrimp wonton, it uses a whole shrimp with pork. There's street paid parking in front. Good choice for a warm meal on a cold rainy Sunday.

3 spices chicken is a total waste of money, they used only the end of drumstick.and no, not the thick side.its the skinny side which has skin and bone only.

One of our favorite places for Shanghai food. Good soup dumplings. We also like their appetizer dishes esp.the beancurd and spring veggie, cucumber, jellyfish.

Do not go here without a reservation. Four of us, one an elder and two diabetics. Upon arrival we were asked if we had a reservation. To which we responded no. We were told without a reservation, we had one hour to order and eat. Place was pretty much empty. We left after seeing nothing on menu appealing.

The xiao long bao soup dumplings never have soup in them… it’s quite a disappointment.

I ordered three dishes of food from Dinesty in Burnaby through Doordash tonight. The service was very efficient. The food was ready in 15 mins. I received text messages that they told me they received the order and when the food was ready for pickup. It was very convenient ordering the food online.

The portion of the spicy beef noodles in soup was quite big. The noodles should have more than 100g. It didn’t look spicy but it was spicy. The smoke tea suck bento box was better than I expected. I liked the side dishes in the bento box. They were eggplants, half of an smoke tea egg and some mah poh tofu as well as the duck and rice at the bottom. The third item I ordered was the Shanghai fried noodles with chicken. The noodles were chewy that was the texture I liked. It was not too greasy. I expected fried noodles should have a lot of oil but the oil they put in this dish didn’t make me feel sick.

Overall the quality was good. Service was excellent. Pricing was reasonable. I would love to order online again and try different dishes next time.

Food is just ok, quite pricey and doesn't seem like they need customers. Liked this place before, got disappointed with the services, and never wanna come back again. If you don't want customers, you just lost 12.

I ordered ShangHai fried noodle with chicken. I recieved something else. It looks like stir fried pork and green beans. No NOODLES at all. The server gave me wrong one. I can provide photo to show evidence. Very unhapppy experience. Don't go to this unprofessional restaurant.

Had a dumpling craving so decided to try here. I wasn't expecting much knowing dumplings are best eaten super fresh but they were decent. The meal was easy to order online and the 20% off was enticing. The portions are pretty reasonable especially with the discount. That being said, we found the food a bit on the bland side and were missing the powerful flavours the dishes we ordered usually had. I've had the dumplings there before so I'd be willing to go back to try again but probably would pass on the take out as most of the soup was missing in more than 3/4 of the dumplings (prob due to transportation).

Chinese restaurant, mainly serving Shanghaiese food. Food are delicious, personally recommend the fried rice, the Xiao Long Bao (the stuffed pork dumplings), the fired one - sheng jian bao.but they don't have free parking.

Foods basically tasted not too bad. Serve speed is normal. Employees are basically nice and friendly, but not everyone. Public restrooms available. Price is high compares to others. Metrotown shopping mall, Crystal mall, bus station and skytrain station are nearby. The best way is to park your vehicle across street at the shopping mall. Easy access.

Great food selections. Delicious and tasty food. Fast service but staff were giving cold attitude. Parking at the hotel is $2/hr.

Great place to enjoy dumplings! Food was delicious and there was lots of dining space. Service was great and you could expect the same level of quality at this Dinesty as you would at any other location. However parking is slightly cumbersome.

Today service was bad, Tea was served but asked for ice water, 1st time asked for water when ordered food. 2nd time asked for water while food delivered. Then until we finished all food. Still no water.

Yummy food but come early or make reservations. It's crazy busy here! I tried calling for take out once at this location and they turned me down saying it was to busy

We shared the mini Chao should bao. A house specialty. Delicious. Homemade noodles another house specialty with mixed seafood. Also excellent. Our friends had the pork with rice thick noodles and finished with chopped spinach and tofu a cold dish. Very different and a nice change of pace. Only downside my partner found the lady's washroom was very small and cramped. Maybe use the handicapped stall next time

This is my second time to this place. The first was in Aberdeen. I was not Impressed.

Today at the Burnaby branch, I was disappointed.

The service here was disgusting. We arrived and wrote our names down. The girl at the front told us the wait would be at least 30 minufes. We said we would take a breather and be back in a couple minutes since it was a long wait.

We crossed the road and walked back after 7 minutes. Then the same staff angrily walked over and told us that she called our name right when we left the door. We would have to wait another 30 minutes.

That's outrageous! We were told "at least 30 minutes" wait, not 30 seconds.

When we finally got seated, the all of the staff ignored us. It took us forever to call a server.

While we were waiting, one of the staff put a bill on our table. Then he took it back and gave it to the next table. It wasn't ours. Very unprofessional.

After we ordered, the food arrived. It was very expensive. Now I know why everyone goes to the xiao long bao place in Crystal Mall. It's way better and cheaper.

The noodles were soaked with Soy Sauce and very salty. The xiao long bao was very tiny and pathetic looking. There was virtually no soup inside.

When I went to the washroom, their utilities weren't even working.

Then it took us another forever to call a server for the bill. When we finally got ones attention, he told a waitress to attend to us. Then they continued to ignore us. We waited another 10 minutes.

I'm never coming back here again.

I am eating the Shanghai pan fried pork bun here in Burnaby dinesty dumpling house. After one bite, i found out the pork is not even cook, still raw. The service is bad. Very bad quality. Will never come again. I m worried I get food poison.

I love this place! My buns had a hair on it and once we pointed it out they immediately replaced it with a new one. I would not get the duck dish again but everything else is good to go and great variety.

Came here to eat with my brother before his flight back home. Got there at 11: 09 and they told us that they aren’t open yet when the opening hour clearly states 11: 00. They then said they might be open at 11: 30 but they can’t guarantee it? Wasted our time and we paid for the parking meter.

Very good, reasonably priced, service was very quick and the food was very well prepared and tasty. Shrimp and pork dumplings were great

Super tasty soup dumplings and quick service. Generally we go here with big groups with a bunch of kids. The pan fried dumplings and fried rice are a favorite for the younger crowd, while us adults go for the dim sum. Prices are a bit on the high side, but you can tell it's fresh and clean so for us that's worth it.

We showed up at 5: 50, with the restruant 80% full. We have a group of 6 including some kids, but the reception rudely told us we have to wait till 7: 30 because there's no table. Ridiculous.

Good and big place for Chinese food. I really enjoyed the dumplings (pork, shrimps) and then stir-fry eggplants (sooo good). The squid was good but not impressive, did not like the soup because of all the spices and the aftertaste they would leave (my bad, made the wrong order). I would go there again, especially for the eggplants.

It was overall a great place to spend time with family and friends. The food was competitively priced and has the traditional authentic Cantonese crusine taste. Definitely recommending to other friends and family members!

Food is ok. But not the best. Peace Restaurant in Joyce and Jin Jiang further east on Kingsway are better.

Unlike my expectations, the service was not good, and also they haven't been that much friendly. The food was ok. They also can provide service for large group of people. The decoration was nice though!
