Dinesty Dumpling House

It was unbelievably unpalatable... Xiaolongbao, Drunken Chicken, Zhajiang Noodles, what the hell?

Very Din Tai Fung (DTF) like, at a slightly lower price point and quality. For example, the pork chop at DTF is even in thickness and all the slices were about the same size. Dinesty pork chop is a bit uneven thickness. XLB is good but the wrapper is not as al dente. We ordered five different dumplings and all were delicious. I would visit this restaurant once a week if I were a residence there.

We were staying at Pan Pacific so we asked for utensil. Happy to report their utensil is excellent in quality as well.

They did not want to make the fried rice without soy sauce. I have a gluten allergy and they straight up said that they did not want to change the food for my dietary restrictions.

Gave a 5 originally, went back a couple weeks ago and was not nearly as impressed as I was the first time. Also, got into an argument about a hair in my dumplings with (maybe?) floor manager and my waitress had to back me up because she saw it and the floor manager didn't actually see it before trying to pass it off as something else. How despicable. Btw guys, this hair was enmeshed in the dumpling opening. I pulled on the hair slowly and it just kept coming out of the dumpling, it was long. I'll take a video next time.

This place is pretty good. I highly recommend the beef noodles and the dumplings. The xiaolongbao is not the best I've had though.

Great food. Terrible service. Even though they are open allegedly until 9: 30, they start harassing you with reminders that they will be closing as early as 7: 30. They will make sure they are out by 9: 30 so act accordingly. I have no idea why a business owner would close down a restaurant with people lining up to go in.

Such yummy dumplings! We went later in the day and there was a line but they moved everything through pretty quickly. Open seating. Friendly service.

The food was so good. We had broccoli, pork soup dumplings, potstickers, Shanghai noodles, Mongolian beef and the pancake. They were out of some dishes so if you have a craving, get there early!

The toon buns are fantastic! Vegetarian but very satisfying. The soup dumplings are also excellent.

Came to the restaurant, nobody greeted us for over 5 minutes while ignoring but service people from delivery services behind us. Amazing service

Horrible customer service experience - this restaurant completely missed my order. I placed my order online 4 hours in advance, and received written confirmation that the order was being prepared.

However, upon arriving at restaurant for pick up, staff members were utterly confused and asked 2-3 times what my order was. After some further discussion, they discovered they had completed missed my order. I ended up having to wait for them to make it on the spot, which entirely defeated my purpose of ordering several hours in advance, and was a complete waste of time.

It seems like a basic expectation that a restaurant is able to receive orders properly and deliver, but this restaurant has failed at that.

Both my vermicelli and rice noodle dishes were soggy, she was terrible on the phone, pick up service was bad. Richmond location is so much better, I will never come back, food is terrible.

My rate is 2.5. The restaurant is clean, some staff are nice and polite some are not polite! In one of our plate was hair and when i asked the server to change it, she was annoyed and looked as she didn’t believe me. She didn’t even say sorry!
Menu has the variety. Dumplings are very fresh and tasty. For me fillings were a bit plain and can be more spiced or flavoured.
I Recommend the Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings and pan fried beef dumpling.
The size of the Mongolian beef is very small for the price of $17 while half of it is red pepper. I don’t recommend it.

Safe, good Chinese food. Good consistent service. Clean with open kitchen so you can see the chef's making Xiao Long Bao (soup dumpling) meticulously and with incredible dexterity.

This is the only Dinesty location that does a kimchi xiao long bao - give it a try!

Other classics include the green onion pancake (order it first - it will take the longest!), eggplant with pork, and some friend rice!

It may not be the most authentic, but it's got the best service and consistency. I feel safe visiting and know what to expect.:)

Place is busy, but definitely worth the wait. The XLB's come out quickly and are always tasty. I find the ratio between dumpling wrap and meat is fair and holds the sauce/juice is well. Always regulars here when were in the area!

Order a delivery on their webpage. The courier placed my food downstairs and then left without waiting for me. Call Dinesty Dumpling House, but they said that they are not responsible for this.

Love the dumplings here but you would always wait for this restaurant.better make the reservation

Not a fan honestly. Thought the food was lacking flavor a bit and a tad overpriced. The ambience and service were great though.

Tl; dr: Meh for an Asian palate (visited in March 2020)

Was looking for a dim sum place in the city without travelling to Richmond, and decided to try this place based on the strength of its reviews + the city branch of Kirin was still closed. After dining there I"m really not sure why it's so highly rated; had ordered a whole bunch of dim sum plates which I'd rate okay at the most, and the turnip cake was downright bad. The price is typical of Vancouver places, so no quibbles there, but I left feeling that it was a waste of my daily calories.

You can't go wrong with the xiao long bao here. The main gripe I have with Dinesty, at least the Robson location, is that they always seem to have a bunch of the menu items unavailable. The last three times I've come here, maybe just about 30 minutes after opening, we have tried to order a bunch of the side dishes and both times they've run out or simply don't have it - and there's not even a full house or anything. Maybe it'd make more sense after a huge rush or at the end of the day, but it just seems so strange to me that so many of the menu items are out at the beginning of the day.

Really good soup dumplings, really rude staff. I’ve been probably 10 times because I live close and the food is good but I’ve never had a pleasant experience with the staff there.

Best in city! Great menu and friendly staff. Make sure you ask for dumplings prepared by Tess.they are my favourite.

My favourite dumpling craving go to! Their food is incredible, especially their pork soup dumplings! They came as a recommendation from a close friend of mine, and they definitely live up to the praise.
