I have no idea while the description on maps says "Industrial eatery". This is a small place with personalized service and a menu with delightful foods you won't find anywhere else. Industrial?

We drive across town two or three times a year to eat here. Simply one of the best vegetarian restaurants of a city that has quite a lot of veggie choice. Come here for the quality of the food and the imaginative range of the preparations.

This is my favorite vegetarian restaurant in Vancouver so far. The tastes of the food are unique and super delicious. The service is also excellent. Highly recommended

Delicious vegetarian Vietnamese food in a very cute restaurant. Definitely recommend Uncle Hing's mushroom wings as well as the truffle dumplings.

I'm not a vegetarian but my family wanted to check out this restaurant.well, I was impressed beyond words. The food was absolutely exceptional. The service was killer and the drinks were fantastic. I left feeling so stuffed full and I could barely walk to my car. Without a doubt, I will definitely be back. I strongly recommend any of their dishes with the oyster mushrooms. The sweet and spicy dish with the tempura broccoli was out of this world. Everything I tried was amazing.

My second time here and it was just as delicious! Vegetarian Vietnamese food that is highly satisfying and flavourful! Highlights include the banh xeo, coconut rice cakes and the wings. I recommend trying something other than the pho, even though the broth is very tasty, they have so many more unique dishes! Service was a little slow, but understandable since they were busy, but the servers were friendly.

One of my favourite restaurants. The food is delicious & all vegan. The portion sizes are pretty big, and the atmosphere and aesthetics of the restaurant are great!

My partner and I’s favourite place to dine. Whether it’s for a quick nosh and beer or whole dinner, we’re never disappointed or dissatisfied with anything. Great and fresh food. Amazing service. And shoutout to Ronnie (I hope I spelt it right) for being our favourite server, always delivering an amazing experience!

The food, service, and vibe were all okay, but not amazing. The desert island noodles were bland, and felt like it was lacking an ingredient. The coconut rice cakes had an interesting texture contrast of crispy and soft. The garlic eggplant rice bowls were tasty in a fairly straightforward taste profile.

Service was good. Food was not. Noodles tasted of salt and sugar instead of actual flavors.
Quality has gone down over the years.

I love this place! The food is always fantastic and the servers are great. As a vegetarian, it's so nice to have such a wide variety of options. Cool decor too. Black Garlic Eggplant Tofu and Daikon Cakes are my favourite.

4 stars for the amazing food - every dish exhibits a medley of subtle Vietnamese flavors and a play on bold textures. A friendly staff would certainly enrich the dining experience.

Atmosphere was cozy and warm. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was really good, although I was expecting a bit more from the vegan pho. The coconut rice cakes are an absolute must. I also recommend the truffle dumplings.

Overpriced for just mediocre food in tiny portion. It may be nice spot for instagram though. This is not a place for a person who likes classic pho with rich broths. I won’t go again.

Highly recommend this place! The food is sooo delicious. We ordered the coconut rice cakes, desert island noodles, and black garlic eggplant. Every dish was packed with flavour. One of the top vegan restaurants in Vancouver!

Went on New Years Day. The service was good, and they made sure to constantly check and top up the tea. The satay was very rich and flavourful, and used wide noodles which are ideal for a thicker broth/sauce to cling to. Price wise it was fair for what you would expect in Vancouver nowadays. Will definitely come again

I ordered Lemongrass Tofu & an egg roll on Skip the dishes and it was hands down, the worst food experience I've had in ages. I can see delivery orders are given no care or effort. It was a busy night for them as I got notified and I was fine to wait. But to wait over an hour for a stone cold meal? My delivery order should have been given the same care and attention as a in restaurant customer. Had a table been served cold food no way would it be accepted or paid for. Instead I wasted my hard earned money on cold, congealed and hard food.

The delivery person picked it up timely and I'm 10 mins away if that.this food had been sitting around for while.

Don't take food app orders if you can't do them properly. Definitely won't be trying in house.

Vegetarian Vietnamese cuisine. Mix of sweet, sour, spicy flavours. Booster seats, high chairs available. No children's cultey. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Free street parking.

Omg, THE "WINGS" (deep fried oyster mushrooms) are an absolute must-have! Pair it with the excellent Rosé Cider! Everything was great here, from curb appeal to service to flavors.

By far the best comfort food. We did not know what to expect, but we have found our go-to Friday night take-out. Food was flavourful, glad we ordered an extra dish to indulge in despite being overly full.

Since the hing wings were taken off the menu we ordered the hing bowl. To our surprise, it arrived with no mushrooms. When we asked about the mushrooms we were casually told that the restaurant didn't receive mushrooms. Since mushrooms are part of the dish and are listed on the menu as such, I would expect the staff to communicate it as we ordered. It was quite disappointing.

A great place to visit with your veggie friends. Amazing dishes with to die for flavor. Came out very impressed and very full.

Price is reasonable and side dishes taste really delicious creative and also exquisite!

We ordered the springs rolls to start and they were delicious!
I also ordered the Sweet and Spicy Bowl and it was very filling; I really enjoyed the tempura battered veggies.

The service here was great and the atmosphere was nice - I will definitely return again!

This is one of the most impressive vegitarian restaurants I have eaten at. The food is served in an authentic Vietnamese way. It was flavorful and filling. Service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend this choice for anyone wanting a delicious meal. Five stars plus on this one.

I had takeout from here with my friends and it was still very fresh and the food was still warm!

Highly recommend the hing’s wings and their vermicelli and the spring rolls.

Edit: I visited their restaurant in person and also love their other food. The spring rolls were even better because they were fresh and we also had the papaya salad and noodles.

Tasty food, definitely a great place for shares and appeys. I ordered sweet n sour rice bowl (featured in the photo), while the veggies themselves were flavorful, it came with a bowl of plain rice and no sauce. Luckily we had leftover sauce from our spring rolls, otherwise, it would have tasted a little bland.

So delicious! So many amazing, unique and tantalizing vegan dishes here. I had the Desert Island noodle bowl. AGAIN. My friend had one as well. (her first time trying). And loved it. The food here is prepared with compassion (the vegan stuff, anyway) and care and the presentation is always great! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Very nice spot for Vietnamese/Thai fusion food. I thought the food was excellent, we had ana amazing dish with tofu and green beans with a sweet shredded coconut glaze.

Had another noodle dish whixh was excellent except for the noodles which were a bit clumpy in the bowl. Otherwise though, all round fantastic place for a date or a nice lunch/dinner

Modern take on Vietnamese food.

The food and service was great. The restaurant had great aesthetic snd the presentation of the food was beautiful. I wish I had a chance to take a photo of the food but I was way too excited to eat it. It was different and they were able to create unique dishes with flavours I haven’t tasted in other restaurants.

The coconut rice cakes is a must! They were crispy and and creamy. I also loved the Banh Xeo Crepe! I was very impressed by how the crepe was made, it was light and crispy.

I really liked the food there. Papaya salad was a bit spicy but it's refreshing. The sauce and ingredients in the noodle matched well. As for curry, it was better than I expected, I thought it'd be just a regular curry but the spice in there made it very delicious. I'm just a ok with the salad roll as there are too much herbs in it that covered up the other taste. But overall the experience was great, would definitely suggest to friends and would return to try out other dishes.

The staff was friendly and the food was cooked well however the dishes were spicy and it wasn't apparent from the description. The spice mostly came from the sauce/dip that was on the side but without the sauce the dishes lacked seasoning. My recommendation to the restaurant is to offer a low spice level version of the sauce - perhaps without the red pepper flakes. I ordered spring rolls and lemongrass tofu with rice. The spring rolls were amazing and I would highly recommend them.

I am glad to find this Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant in the heart of East Van. I took my friends out to try the food and it did not disappoint at all. The food is tasty, good quality and the service is great.

This review would have been a 5 star review, however they took the lemongrass tofu off the menu which is absolutely soul destroying. I love this restaurant but the menu is a little hit and miss, potstickers, amazing, spring rolls, amazing, satay noodles, meh, pho meh, if the lemongrass tofu was still on the menu I would be here every night!

My sister and I found this wonderful vietnamese restaurant as one of the best we have gone too. Our very helpful server Jade was great in helping us pick the best Pho dish my sister ever had. Great food reasonable price.

Worth the wait (the wait was loooong). Dishes were flavorful. Spring rolls and Garlic eggplant are a must to try.

I was intrigued when I heard there's a vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant close to where I live. After having tried it out, I'll definitely recommend checking this place out. They have a fairly sizeable menu and the food was quite good! Definitely recommend trying the dumplings!

Great veggie/vegan restaurant! Starters were really tasty and good-sized portions to share. Fair pricing as well.

The food was excellent. We had vegan pho and satay noodle bowl. Absolutely delicious! The only downside was a long wait - first to get a table, and then to have the food served.

Food-wise, very good and agree with other reviewers. Very flavourful, unique touches that you may not get elsewhere, and fair portions/pricing. 2 appetizers (spring rolls and rice cakes) + 1 main dish (desert island noodles) were filling for 2 people. The black charcoal lemonade was nothing really special drinks-wise.

However, would take 1 star off for exceptional slowness of the restaurant and 1 off for lack of cleanliness. We waited 25 minutes despite stating that we were fine to sit at the bar, and ended up being sat at the bar anyways (which was empty the whole time) - perhaps this highlights the inefficiency of the kitchen if they were backordered. Staff members could also consider calling names outside instead of phoning to save time, especially if customers are waiting right outside for the table

One thing about having your bar patrons face the inside of your entire kitchen - we can see every unhygienic practice. Only 1 staff member had a hair net, no one used gloves when handling both raw and cooked food, and the same cloths that were used to wipe hands were used to wipe the cutting boards/knives. If you are going to go for a higher-end style Vietnamese cuisine, the sanitary practices should reflect it. Seeing this made the otherwise delicious meal less pleasant.

Service was fine otherwise. The bartender/waitress checked how we were doing several times, which was appreciated. But just overall the restaurant atmosphere was very slow.

Hidden near Kingsway and Knight,
this hole in a wall place offers plant based cuisine both for vegetarian and vegan. Limited items on menu.
When I arrived both items I wanted were both sold out. I ended up with just ordering vermicelli with spring roll
which was quite flavorful.
The staff were all busy tending to their assigned chores.

Service is great, food is hella amazing! Tried satay noodle it was spot on! Great vibes, staffs are friendly and very clean, moved up to top 5 Vietnamese in Vancouver on my list. Will be back!

Very good hole in the wall restaurant. I've driven past a few times and didn't even know it was there. The food was really good and I like the family style serving. Definitely go back. It is a tiny restaurant so just beware of that fact.

Had a fantastic meal! Tried the coconut rice cakes, pot stickers, spring rolls from the street food menu and the satay noodle bowl. Everything was great, well presented, tasty. Portion size was decent. A few items on the menu were unfortunately unavailable. Looking forward to trying them next time. Forgot to take photos!

The vegan/vegetarian food was tasty, flavourful and presented nicely. Friendly service. They were out of one item which was disappointing. My citrus drink was refreshing. The layout and design is of nice wood and open exposed ceiling. There are also many deco empty bird cages hanging around they look interesting mine beside me unfortunately though had a dead plant and was in need of a dusting but none the less the restaurant was clean. $-$$. I had 3 plates and the speciality drink with a total of around 24 dollars.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had, and I’m a picky eater! So unbelievably tasty, healthy and fresh. Highly recommend. Cocktail was delicious also, cute spot and friendly staff!

Breathe of Fresh Air.
We came across a post of Do Chay on Instagram, and instantly wanted to visit. It was a post of Monsoon Rolls.
The ambience is cozy and sweet. About 10 two seater tables, one big round table, and few stools at the bar.
We ordered 'Birds of Paradise' and 'Preservation of Youth' for drinks. Both drinks were refreshing, but my drink was served 10 mins after my friend's drink was served.
For appetizers, 'Monsoon Rolls' and 'Black Truffle Tofu'. Both were fantastic. Tofu was great with the sauce in the plate. Unfortunately, I could not glaze more of the sauce on the last piece of Tofu as the plate was taken without being asked.
For main, we shared 'Sweet and Spicy Bowl'. This again was delicious. Multitude of flavors.
The service was good too. But, we were asked if we were doing fine atleast 8 times during our dinner.
The bill was given in a small tin box with 2 breath freshners. The tin box was cute.

Overall, I would visit again. And also recommend to my friends.

I very much enjoyed my first culinary experience at Do Chay and am already looking forward to a return visit.

Do Chay checks all of the boxes. The service, environment, and food are all top notch. The menu was very interesting and different (in a good way) to other Vietnamese restaurants that I've been to over the years. The food and drinks are creatively prepared and a treat for the taste buds.

While this restaurant will most likely catch the attention of vegetarians and vegans, I think it's a place that most people would enjoy. If you're going with a group, consider sharing several dishes.

Great food, nice atmosphere and cool cocktail menu. It's reasonably priced and you must try their dumplings with coconut milk if you go. It is a vegetarian restaurant, but their food will please both vegetarians and non-vegetarians (myself included). There are quite a few vegan options too. Highly recommend!

Came in today for lunch with mom, who happens to be very picky about restaurants. We both loved it. Service was attentive and friendly, presentation beautiful and the food was delicious. We tried the papaya salad, potstickers, coconut rice cakes, and satay noodles. I will be back for sure, and hope to see a dessert menu in the future.

The appetizers were phenomenal, especially the spring rolls and truffle tofu. However, the main dishes with vermicelli noodles were very tasteless and had no sauce on them. If they put the same flavour into the main dishes as they do the appies, this place would be 5 stars!

Food was amazing:) I love the coconut rice cakes. The only downside is that it took too long time, 40 minutes, to get this dish. I don’t know if it is common for every customer. I think you need to spare 2 hours at least to eat there, just in case.

The food is AMAZING! Personally I'm not a big fan of vegan food but when i tried the food at Do Chay restaurant, It made me forget all about the meat and It is above my expectation. I'm strongly recommend Coconut cake, Banh xeo, Sweet and spicy rice, those are very fresh and yummy!

Had the most incredible meal at Do Chay! Cannot wait to go back. All vegetarian and every bite was an explosion of flavour! My new favourite Vietnamese restaurant! Loved the dumplings, the lemongrass mushroom vermicelli and the incredible eggplant with black truffle oil, elephant garlic, chilli, ginger and garlic! The Mojitos are pretty awesome as well!

Cozy modern twist vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant that serves many vegan dishes. We particularly enjoyed the XO Dumplings and the egg crepe. There are delicious cocktails, beer and non alcoholic options as well.

Went here during the soft open and every single dish was outstanding. The decor and details of the restaurant are very well chosen. Will definitely be coming back soon. Especially for those dumplings in the coconut sauce!

I was super excited to try out the new addition to the neighborhood! The restuarant is super trendy, bright and welcoming. Sadly my experience wasn't great. As I was in a rush, I ordered a salad roll to go. Up until now things were fine. I was getting concerned when the 20min mark passed with no acknowledgement from the servers. The servers were all behind the bar infront of me making drinks and talking/gossiping. I wasn't comfortable approaching them about my order. After about 30-35mins my order was brought to me by a confused lady asking what I ordered. At this point i was pretty tired so i didn't say anything and left. (The roll was super small but tasty)
All in all food I had was good, service needs work.

Delicious food, fair prices, and warm and friendly staff. Cassava fries (pictured), and Pandan tea were good.

Food was amazing! Modern beautiful new & clean with friendly good service. My favourite dishes is Vegan Pho, but I can't wait to try every single item on Do Chay menu even the fancy yummy drinks as well. Will definitely keep coming back:)

Tried Do Chay last night - we live in the neighborhood and watched this little restaurant be worked on for over a year! The food is AMAZING. High quality, super flavorful, creative and beautiful. We'll be back to try the whole menu!

So great to have a new cool restaurant in the neighborhood. Oh my goodness it is sooooo good! Freaking incredible!

I have to tell you, I went in expecting that it was perhaps one of those trying-too-hard too-many-flavours places that will never compete with my favorite meaty Vietnamese places, but it was DELICIOUS. I had the oyster mushroom vermicelli bowl, and as a meat eater, I had low expectations, but it was AMAZING. The mix of flavours and herbs was incredible. And, we ordered the potstickers and I will attest: also amazing. My pal had the lemongrass tofu and also said it was delicious. I love all Vietnamese food and am a bit of a purist, and had lower expectations for a vegetarian/vegan place, but I can honestly say, I'd probably come here over anything else nearby. Reasonably priced (which may change, who knows - new restaurant and all), super nice space, and a pretty impressive menu! I'll definitely be back.
