Donair Affair

I recently dined at A1 Donair in Surrey, BC, and overall, it was a positive experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

The highlight of my visit was the donair, which was flavorful and had a nice blend of spices. The meat was well-cooked, and the portions were generous. The menu offered a decent variety, providing options for different tastes and preferences.

The service was prompt, and the staff seemed genuinely invested in ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The prices were reasonable for the quantity and quality of food provided.

However, I'm giving it 4 stars because there is room for improvement in the ambiance of the restaurant. Some updates or enhancements to the interior could enhance the overall dining experience.

Despite these minor points, A1 Donair is a solid choice for those craving delicious donairs in Surrey. With a few tweaks, it could easily become a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu!

Chicken and beef rice platter had way too much beef. This was never an issue in the past but tonight was bad. Waaaay too much beef. Put them side by side instead of chicken on top of beef if your not able to gauge how much beef. This is very disappointing.i paid 40 for 2 platters

If there is a 0 star I will give them so I found 2 hair in the chicken in both of the plates that I ordered every one don’t spend your money for that disgusting not clean food

Great people. Amazing donair. Incredible drink selection. If you’re looking for a good donair today you found the right place. All around 5 star experience. Shout out to the staff for keeping those rotisserie’s rotating.

Today I visited this place for a chicken shawarma. I have had from here once last year. I am a very particular fan of middle eastern and and Indian food. Even though the first time I ate it (a treat by my brother) was not that great nor bad I wanted to try it once more.
The lady who was serving was very helpful and smiling, I had a small issue at the time of payment. Other than the regular charges there was an additional charge of 25 cents added to my payment and I questioned it.the lady who was serving me very politely said it was a regular charge to every customer and offered me to talk to the owner. The owner came to the scene and he tried to convince me by saying all the places charge the same amount, but when I stated that other joints like the holy falafel and donair spot does not charge it he got aggravated and started swearing at me. I retaliated by saying you are a liar and is trying to cheat the customer of an extra quarter. I left the food there and left, he was keeping on swearing. I just wanted to bring this into other customers notice. I don't have any bad remarks against their food or their service but the owner if questioned starts yelling and surely will shout at you asking you to get out.
Just for questioning the extra 25 cents being charged you get to hear middle eastern way of swearing (I dont think he has any sense of belonging or know where he is) he didn't know that being brought up in the middle east I would understand a little bit of arabic and persian.
I will surely go back to the place and try to reproduce the scenario and record all the things once again on my mobile. I am really adamant on showing him that, this is not the way to treat any customer. He is going to pay for it.

I don't know about the other reviews but I love their food. Never bad experience. Best hummus on the planet in my opinion.

I usually come here at least once a week and the food never disappointed me once. The service was great too.

The food is great, but sauce is not spicy. I used to frequent this place for many years since 2011, but after bringing fellow crew members and finding that they have an outdated debit machine, which only takes Canadian debit cards, but not any US debit cards and maybe one type of charge card, we ALL quit frequenting.

Last night I drove 25 minutes out of the way to give them another try, after nearly five years of all of our staff not visiting.

My crew was met with the same old debit machine problems, and two having to go down a couple stores to pay high ATM fees to get Canadian cash.

We put the word out that we will not be coming back. We'll stick to frequenting places that take all cards.

Their donairs are always really good. Always get one of the super wraps if you ever order from there. I went there with a friend one time when the old owner was there quite a few years ago. Very friendly guy. It looked like they changed hands a couple years ago. When I went there last time, the customer service was definitely lacking. At least with my experience, the girls making the food weren't rude, and my donairs came out right. If you're bothered by the customer service, they do deals on Uber every now and then, where you can do buy 1 get 1.

Their regular sized Donair is stuffed enough to feed a house and their largest is enough to feed an army.
Definitely worth every dollar if you're hungry and on a budget.

Pretty consistent most times. I found ordering in person is way better than ordering online (doordash, skip, etc.). Definitely the best Donair Affair location.

One of the best donairs I've ever had. Perhaps it was because they were busy and everything was fresher on Friday night, but they listened to my requests, made my order perfectly-no onions and light sauce with a Greek salad combo. Delicious! Was really nice for a change from Subway. Less bread and more ingredients.

I har left my debit card at home, came to realize when I paid for my food, the owner let me eat my food, then went to grab my card to pay. Super nice gesture and I appreciate that!
Amazing food and great service

It's a basic donair shop but the food it excellent, well prepared, reasonable pricing, great staff. Highly recommend.

Cold and stale veggies in the wrap. Called the assistant manager to report, he didn’t bothered. Very poor customer service.
I would never ever go here.

I’ve been going here for years. They do have the best food but unfortunately lately, the service has been terrible. The girls that work there are exceptionally rude. I miss the old guy that used to run it. It’s going downhill. I guess I’ll have to find a new Donair place.
