DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kamloops

I found the location to be ideal. Very walkable in downtown and close to arena. Rooms were clean. Service was very good. Front desk folks very friendly and helpful. Would go back again

A bit pricey but great restaurants within walking distance. Cleaning is ok but Hilton could do better.

Staff were very friendly but.take note:
The hotel is under active construction not declared on the Hilton hotel website - there were renovations in our corridor during our stay. Restaurant has reduced hours and breakfast was not included in the room rate. The website says the pool, spa and fitness centre are closed for the season, but they are actually under full renovation.
Air conditioning in the rooms does not work well - the hotel has a central air con system that the hotel chooses the temperature of, the controls in the room just set the flow of air not the temperature of said air. Consequently, the rooms were too hot during our 4 day stay and a number of guests had complained.
Area is sketchy and there is limited parking out front of the hotel. The manager says there is secure underground parking but it was not offered to any of our teams families - we just jostled for spaces outside of the front of the hotel. I had to leave my bikes locked on my car rack.
Rooms are small, we had issues with maintenance and no mid stay housekeeping for a 4 day stay. To be honest, not a great stay and we won't be back.

It's.ok. It did the job for a quick stop-over on the way to Jasper, but I don't think I'll be back. Restaurant downstairs is REALLY good (try the veggie burger!) and beds are comfy, but there's a few other weird glitches.

Of note, their parking lot is very small and doesn't have enough spaces for all clients if the hotel is full or near-full. We got lucky and were able to snag a spot, but many other people (esp.if you check-in late) have to park on street parking or on a paid parking lot across the street.the hotel pay you back for it, which is nice, but the other parking lot doesn't look as safe as parking on the parking lot that is in front of the 24h hotel reception.

And unless you are a Hilton Honors members and booked directly through Hilton, you have a very slow internet (too slow to stream/download) and unsecured (in 2021? !? ! Why? !) connection, which isn't great if you have some work to do and work emails to answer. There was also no hairdryer.

I stayed at the hotel for six weeks. It was very pleasant experience. Very quiet, clean and spacious rooms. The management is absolutely great, same goes for the reception as well. A special mention to the housekeeping who work tirelessly to ensure that everything is in perfect order. Thanks

Extremely subpar. I understand they're undergoing renovations at the moment, but what effect that has on their ability to have the restaurant open for breakfast or lunch is beyond me.just say youre not busy enough to staff a restaurant all day or put a restaurant in your hotel that DOES have that capability. The TVs in the room arent smart TVs. Pool, hottub, gym all closed. Very convenient for the hotel owners to rake in their profit while providing nothing and saving on labour/electricity costs. If all you need is a clean bed to sleep in and free wifi this place will suffice. Front desk staff was friendly. Stay at the sandman or a different downtown hotel instead.

Nice and clean hotel. The bed is comfortable. I enjoyed staying here. The warm cookies at check-in were a big win for me.

Good stay. Been here many times for work. Good close walking distance to some good restaurants downtown. I need to try the restaurant in the hotel sometime. My stay was quiet and room while small is good enough for me travelling as one. The beds and bedding is one reason I come back. So comfy.

Slightly tired property. Good downtown location and friendly staff but not much more stands out. Rooms are clean but dark and with tiny bathrooms. Limited free parking and spotty WiFi doesn’t make this hotel the best choice in Kamloops. Especially with so many hotels to choose from.

I like the front of the building in the evening! I think this is Double Tree trade mark. It is a decent hotel carrying Hilton brand. Clean enough and comfort bed, great location near downton and RCMP:) One of my concerns for hotel to sleep is their pillow must be comfortobale enough and they meet that criteria. You have to bring water otherwise you can buy from the front office. Overall I am happy to stay here.

Even one star is too high of a rating.

Pros: comfy bed, location
Cons: stained carpets, thin towels, low water pressure in shower, shower head at chest height, hairs found in shower, hairs found folded in washcloths, ripped carpets in hallways, elevator broken.

Additionally, during check in I was told I could not get the king room I had booked because they were having hot water issues. I was given a room with two queens and was told there was not problem with hot water in that room. I checked in early evening after a long drive, go to my room (which is visibly dirty and had evidence of others previously laying on the bed) and find out I have no hot water. Front desk staff is very unhelpful, unprofessional, and unwilling to offer any sort of support. Hot water was not fixed for over 20 hours. A discount (and a call) from management was promised but never acted upon (no night manager on duty).

Bad hotel. Unclean. Unfriendly staff. Most certainly do not recommend.

And they charge for parking even though they tell you it’s been waved.

We live locally and went to the restaurant for breakfast and sat on the lovely deck to enjoy. Service was excellent, food was delicious, location convenient. Very nice!

Very dissappointed, not only did they turn us away for 4 hours because of some rule about check in not until 3pm, for the heavy price, the room was very small, no microwave, no breakfast, shower head leaked, and get this, I was required to pay an extra $12.60 extra for parking. For the same price in any other country on the planet, I would have been treated like a king, large room, breakfast, and FREE parking. Overall a terrible experience that will never happen again. Hilton hotels should be ashamed of this place!

Carpet was filthy looking, callled the hotel directly to book, told it was one price to find out additional charges for parking and pets, and no breakfast included, even though was told on the phone it was, and the restaurant on site does not have any children items, or meals, I would recommend staying down the road where everything is included in a newer cleaner hotel

Disappointment! The room is noisy, Air conditioning machines (?) sound like a broken train bearing. No chance of sleeping without earplugs. In addition, wifi is unreachable and the fridge is warm. IMHO, poor value for the price.

The sheets are dirty, the room is very Very very very very dirty, the service inside the room is awful
You have to get a new key everyday, because your key can't open the door.
I never spend any penny

The stay started off good as we got our warm cookies but it spiraled from there. We got to our room and we had to keep our shoes on as the carpet was filthy and stained. We opened the curtains and there was something sprayed all over the windows that had not been cleaned up. It was late and we were tired so we went to bed which were comfy. When we got up we went for breakfast in the Harvest restaurant downstairs (which took awhile as one of the cleaners left elevator on service so we could not go anywhere) we waited over an hour for breakfast. There are lots of options in Kamloops and will not be staying here again.

Friendly, helpful staff. Very nice rooms and pool/hot tub. Walking distance to Riverside Park and downtown shopping and restaurants. On site restaurant with outdoor patio. Quieter area of the downtown core. Highly recommend and would stay there again.

Meets the most basic needs, wouldn't recommend for the price. Lots of hidden fees. Super weird parking situation and WiFi is unusable. Very basic cable. Bed was not very comfortable but it's passable. I won't be back but if you need somewhere in a pinch it works.

This was the dirtiest hotel I had ever stayed in when I got to my room it was so disgusting it had not been vacuumed, one of the beds because I had two double beds was filthy with dog hair and stuff on the top comforter so the bedding hadn’t been changed so when I called down to the front desk I was told that I had to go grab my own bedding and make my own bed, they weren’t sorry about my experience or anything nor that they take notes or anything about my complaint, There was only one staff working the front so it took forever for check-in half of the rooms weren’t ready on time by 4 o’clock I’ll never stay there again as I know many others were very mad

We have stayed here twice and enjoyed it both times. Fast check in, staff at front desk was kind and gave us warm cookies! Easy parking close to the main doors. Love the outdoor pool & checking out at 12 P. M.instead of 11 A. M.

My biggest complaint is the lack of room cleaning, even after asking 3 times for our towels to be replaced, garbage bins to be emptied and coffee replaced. Super disappointed in paying so much for not great service.

Waste of money.

WiFi was sketchy at best, very slow and even if you try to plug in direct it doesn't work at all. Oh, and good luck finding a spot to park if people are in the restaurant. Had to wait in my car until someone left before I could go to my room.

Very old, dated hotel. Pictures are not reflective of the actual space. Shocked that they are still able to call this part of the doubletree brand.

Staff was friendly, although not overly professional in the lobby. Loudly talking at each other across the room

Would not recommend if you are looking for anything above a budget hotel.

I'm only giving 4 stars because the showerheads were positioned at chest level otherwise the hotel and staff were great! Beds were comfortable with lots of pillows. Parking was a breeze and the location is great! Floated around in the pool for a hour and had quite the relaxing stay.

Absolutely NO where to park here and they charge for the very few places there are to park. Absolutely ridiculous, for the prices that are charged parking should be included. Not impressed

We stayed here recently and overall it was a comfy stay. The pros are the soundproof Rooms making it easily the quietest rooms to stay at in Kamloops, the comfiest bed and sheets, And excellent room air conditioning keeping us comfortable through a full weekend of +40 weather. The cons are the rooms are tiny, The park is absolutely horrible, And the staff were decent but good luck finding someone in the hotel for assistance. They also only had one operating elevator and it was sooo slow. I didn’t get my cookie at check in which I’m upset about. It’s nice but, I paid 300$ a night and I don’t think it’s worth it at that price. If you get a better price then try it out:)

For a Hilton Hotel I was expecting more! Room had wall paper curling up the wall couches and chair had nasty stains. Hotel needs room makeovers!

Not the hotels fault but the location is sketchy - had someone try to steal my bikes (I double lock and they didn’t get past the first lock).

Too pricey for what you get (parking is not free, you have to pay for breakfast) - the rooms are no different (besides being smaller) than holiday inn, where you get free parking and breakfast and it’s cheaper! Im disappointed I paid >$300.3/5 because it is comfy, clean, and staff are polite.

We recently stayed here as part of the Rocky Mountaineer journey. Overall the hotel has a great location downtown but the rooms themselves have a weird layout that makes them feel closed off and ackward.

Das Bad war sehr klein aber sauber und sehr ordentlich. Frühstück war eine reine Katastrophe. Im Restaurant welches angeblich nicht zum Hotel gehört von selben Leuten/Familie aber betrieben wird benötigt man einen Coupon! Durch meinen Goldstatus haben wir hier aber Frühstück inclusive! War wir bekamen oder aussuchen durften, hatte nix mit Frühstück eines Hilton zu tun!
Alles in allem einem Hilton nicht gerecht, da haben wir schon viel bessere gehabt die sich noch günstiger waren!

They had really good comfortable rooms but we asked for housekeeping on Thursday night and we didn’t get it when we checked out service has been thrown out the window. Don’t recommend staying here

Garbage from previous guest in room, food still in fridge, stained linens. Do they even clean? Pool and hot tub filthy and unusable. Dirty towels all over. At least 50 degrees in underground parking which they charge extra. Homeless living in the parking lot. Not worth the prices they charge. NEVER AGAIN

Would not honor corporate rate, would not compensate the difference in rates from when I booked vs date of check in. Rooms are not worth the price they are asking, the Sandman Signature a few blocks over is much nicer for the price you pay.

The hotel's fancy facilities are just fine. The staff is terrible.unprofessional. Not nice. Antipathy. Inhuman and unequivocally unworthy.

We recently had a one night stay at the Doubletree Kamloops on May 14.
Disappointed with the dust bunnies in room and throughout hotel along with room service dishes in the hall which were there when we arrived and still there the next day.
Also we were told when we checked in that breakfast was at 7: 30.
We went down on the Sunday morning at 7: 30 and nothing was opened. We were told staff has a problem with the bus service on Sundays, not our problem. We checked out without breakfast as could not wait.
As we are Diamond members and stay at Hilton hotels, we would have stayed at the Hampton Inn if we had known about the issue with breakfast on Sundays.
Parking was a nightmare, we had to wait until cars left after we had dinner to have a close space on site rather than across the street.
The only saving grace for this stay was the restaurant Harvest had amazing food and the two young ladies who looked after us were great. Could not have asked for better service! Excellent.

While it is a newer hotel in a convenient location, there are a few issues that will prevent me from returning.

The parking at the hotel is very poor. It sounds like they have made arrangements with the large lot across the street which is good, but they don't explain where you can parkzthey just ask you if you found a parking spot which brings me to my next problem.

My vehicle had two windows smashed and some minor work items stolen. I parked along the side of the hotel near the liquor store, there was nothing saying I couldn't park there. When I reported everything to the front desk, although sympathetic, they said that they did not have any cameras pointing in that direction and that they were not their parking stalls. He did say that if I had told them I couldn't find parking to come to the front desk, but I thought that parking was theirs.

As well, their Wi-Fi is unusable when it's busy which prevented me from doing computer work or facetiming with family over Wi-Fi. This is a deal breaker for me, as the hotel isn't cheap. The hotels in Aberdeen are just as nice, have less crime, better parking, better wifi, and hot breakfast included in the stay.

I have absolutely no reason to book at this hotel again, and I would only recommend it as a last resort.

When we got to our room, there were face prints inside our windows, the outside was very dirty. We were not told about the multiple baseball and hockey teams staying in the hotel, were placed right in the middle, instead of rearranging a bit, making noise an issue and the unavailability of the hot tub an issue. We were not told they were still operating under covid protocols and that we needed to ask them to clean the room. When I asked if it could be done then, I was with a very flat, uncaring staff member. Booking as a government employee was also a nightmare. A truly bad blemish to the Hilton name.

We were very pleased with the hotel.rooms/breakfast/location. All were very good and at a good price. We had no problems with the water or wifi (as some other reviews have had concerns over) but were only using wifi socially. We would certainly return to this hotel.
