I can’t tell how good is this place. Lovely decoration and live music (piano and cello, shout out to the musicians). Service was so friendly, food was amazing.

Delicious eats, fantastic ambiance and the BEST varieties of chai to be found anywhere! Now a frequent hang out, great for both meat eaters and vegans.

Great place, so warm and atmospheric with its live music. Food was so great. Chai was amazing. Mango Lassi was the best.

We had a great time at East is East. Our first time trying Afghan food and it certainly did not disappoint. Food was excellent, and I recommend you try the wild salmon curry / dish.

My wife and I visited East Is East tonight, drawn by her positive past experience at the Main Street location. The restaurant's stunning decor initially impressed us, and the staff offered complimentary chai tea which was delicious.

However, our enthusiasm waned when we encountered a confusing menu. Despite expressing our preference for smaller portions, we felt pressured to order the "Feast Platter" at $43 and a $25 Roti wrap. The staff's persistent upselling and guilt-tripping soured the experience.

Disappointment continued when the meager "Feast Platter" arrived—small portions with minimal meat (2 pieces of lamb in one dish). My Roti wrap felt far from fine dining, like I was eating a burrito in a fast food joint, and the total bill for one small dish, the platter, a glass of wine, and obligatory live music reached an absurd $120.

Overall, the experience was far from the anticipated experience that my wife had talked about, and the high prices were not justified. We left dissatisfied and unlikely to return.

Nice atmosphere, slow service, average food, pricey. It's basically an all you can eat buffet experience served at the table. Their signature Silk Route Feast Tasting Menu was ok, nothing stood out.

One of the best restaurant I’ve been in a long time. All-you-can-eat format is just amazing. Anything Chai is DELICIOUS. Mushrooms creamy and vegan butter chicken was out of this world. Live music was so much appreciated.

Ordered the lunch special Chai Feast for $25 per person, all you can eat. Great taste and fast served. Service was impeccable

My recent visit to East is East was definitely a memorable experience in all the best ways. I got their signature feast which is essentially an all you can eat menu for $43, which is a little pricey but the quality and the freshness of the food is well worth it. The passion from the staff about their food and theme was evident as the food came out beautifully prepared and presented on a large stainless steel tray. The staff were also a delight for their attentiveness and willingness to explain specific dishes and what region they originate from. Besides the food, the atmosphere of the restaurant was fantastic, the music matched the theme and was not too loud, the decor seemed authentic with a mix of Canadiana, and their choice of live music performers was very good. In conclusion, East is East is a fantastic, Silk Road inspired restaurant with amazing food, stunning atmosphere, and a waitstaff that all seemed to enjoy what they do. Cannot recommend this place highly enough and will 100% return.

I had take out and left clear note to not mix the lamb curry and the rice, unfortunately it was mixed up and very little rice so I had to eat the curry by itself.

The Silk Route Feast tasting menu is absolutely worth it; basically a bottomless feast of delicious food. The lamb curry, the chicken masala, the creamy mushroom & eggplant, the hummus. Even the bread, it was all spectacular. The apple, ginger and lemon chai was very flavorful.

Summary - tasteless overpriced food

ambiance - interesting.very ethnic feel

food - not so good, it was neither good Afghan food, nor good Indian food, definitely not good fusion food. We ordered a bolani and a roti roll.both of these were just plain old wheat tortilla with tasteless fillings out of frozen food packages, mildly warmed up and served to you for.a bill of almost $50.

Is this Afghani food? Naaah
Is it good? Yea not bad
Then why the three stars? Over priced and small portions

I had the chicken masala with naan it was fire and mira was very helpful with my order will definitely keep buying that
