Eat Bar & Patio Haraheri

My sister took our family here for a Christmas dinner and it was SOOO good. I've walked by here so many times but it's a place I would never think to go. Absolutely delicious and everything tasted so fresh. Would love to come back sometime.

THE BEST! I hope we can eat this next new year as well! Super delicious. My whole family was very happy to be able to experience the Japanese atmosphere in Vancouver. I would love to make it again next year!

Amazing 3rd floor large secluded patio and food was deliciois. Nice variety, lots of vegetarian and carnivore options, and easy to share. Service was friendly and really efficient. They also had some larger tables that could easily accommodate a larger group of 8-10 people. Perfect summer time spot.

Ate here our first evening in Vancouver. The restaurant was crowded, but the servers work hard to provide us with great services. Many great option on the menu. The food were excellent.

The thing I loved the most about Eat Bar & Patio Haraheri is the way the space itself is setup. The entire restaurant feels like a rooftop patio (half of which is actually a rooftop patio). Even when you're inside, it almost feels like you're outside because of the wall to ceiling sliding glass doors.

The staff were also super friendly. They had a great big smile as they welcomed us into/ushered us out of the restaurant.

The food was delicious and prompt. I can recommend the Chicken Karage, the duck breast, Nasu Agebitashi, Bang Bang G Salad, and the Sake Sangria.

Great spot to enjoy a nice summer day with friends and good eats.

A neat little eatery on a roof with a wide selection of izakaya treats. You can order and pay on your phone at your seat, some dishes even come with a discount if you do. All the dishes are reasonably priced and even on the cheaper end. I really loved the blend of flavors in the cool eggplant and the black cod was so fatty and tender and generously portioned! I also really enjoyed my melon drink and ice cream, very creamy and refreshing. Service was nice and very fast, we could've been in and out in 45 minutes with how fast the kitchen was, although we ate a bit earlier during dinner when it wasn't as busy, the speed was still rather impressive.

I love Guu Garden so was surprised to see that it is now Haraheri. Fret not! They're the same owners and staff but just under different branding. I went for after-dinner drinks and snacks. We had:

Food:
- Nasu Agebitashi- a cold appetizer of marinated eggplants. Solid preparation but nothing special to write home about 3/5
- Dashimaki Tamago- expertly made tamago in a dashi broth. Very warm and comforting 4/5
- Beef Tongue Chazuke- if you love beef tongue you'll love this. I've never had beef tongue so tender before! 5/5
- Smoked black cod collar (daily special) - I love black cod so was expecting to love this, which I did. So smooth and fatty! 5/5

Drinks:
- Tokyo Mojito (sake, rum, ramune, mint & lime) - my dining companion liked it but I thought the ramune gave the drink a strange medicinal taste
- Grownup's Cream Soda (melon liqueur, 7up and sake ice cream) - definitely a dessert drink with a generous scoop of ice cream

Vibe was as classy and peaceful as I remembered. I do miss the paper menus with daily specials but I understand the need to keep things hygienic under COVID. Speaking of hygiene, their bathrooms have the fancy Toto heated toilet! I definitely would return and try more items next time.

I used to love this place, it was one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver. But since they changed from guy garden to haraheri it got worse. We had the chicken karagee, brussel sprouts, salmon and creme brule. Everything was ok but nothing was as good as before. Even the Ambient and service got worse. Sad to see that a gem like this is now gone.

Good and drinks are good but service is so bad… we were just given our full carafe of warm sake at the end of their service and they wanted to force us out in 3 minutes… I have no idea how they expect us to finish a full carafe of hot sake in 3 mins…. Then the lights dimmed. Just not a good experience overall. Too bad the food is delicious tho. What a shame

Food is still good as always, but they have went to a self serve program. Service was lacking a little bit, but food came out super fast.

This restaurant has a great vibe; the rooftop patio was very open and the personal heaters were a great touch. They had a lot of plant based items in addition to their regular menu, all of which were delicious. I highly recommend the eggplant! The only thing we weren't too fond of, which may just be a covid addition, was ordering and paying through an app (so we also didn't see service staff very frequently).

Where do I begin. The pictures of the interior aren't accurate. Don't expect a Japanese experience of dining on the floor. The food itself was super mediocre and we tried pretty much all the dishes. All of them lacking in flavour and quality. Sapporo was good and brussel sprouts, that's it.

Our second Guu restaurant. Just as good as Guu with Garlic. Great atmosphere and great service. Will be back!

I spent a pleasant lunchtime with my daughter on the patio under a shade awning. We both ordered Chirashi & Chawan-mushi Sweet soy marinated diced sashimi on sushi rice, freshly made savoury egg pudding & miso soup. Very tasty.

I was very underwhelmed by this place. I had been years ago but it has lost it's sparkle. Also I don't know why agedashi mozzarella ever made it to the menu. Dissapointed.

The best Chicken Karrage I've ever had. Very good food especially if you come in a group and order multiple dishes and share. Ordering via phone and paying before you get your meal is a little weird and it can be sometimes hard to get a table. The Service is nothing to write home about but in the end the food is great.

Excellent food and environment, but the ordering/payment system through QR code is horrible. We tried to place the same order 4 times, had to add the same items back in the cart again and again, because of an error of the app that automatically clears the cart every time. The payment never went through as well. We were running out of patience and almost wanted to leave because of this technical issue. It totally ruined our appetite and experience there.

Eventually a server took our orders manually and we paid with the card machine. We should have just done that in the first place.

No menus, just online using your phone. You also have to order and pay online in advance. I dont mind paying ahead, but I prefer tipping after I have recieved a service, not before. The karaage was ok and my salad was great but I didnt care much for the udon. It had beef in it but tasted too fishy from all of the bonito flakes on top. Our server was very nice but I'm not sure if she was new or not because she kept getting confused and getting things mixed up. An overall not bad but not great experience. The patio was nice though, with the fire warming us up nicely.

Great lunch options. The Bento boxes were delicious. Oden, chicken bang bang salad, yaki udon were amazing. During the patio dining only, the servers were very good. They have a great online ordering system so you don't have to go though any payment machine but rather on your own phone. That is very amazing now a days. Staff and food A+

Ordered the Royal bento box which had a great variety of their deliciousness. Fresh sashimi and my favorite were the scallops. Super fresh and delicious! Their ebi-mayo is on point with the spiciness and the prawns were fried perfectly. Loved their chicken and cauliflower karaage.was juicy and delicious. I think I might need to just order that as a separate dish next time.

Their patio outside was very well distanced and we were able to order online. Quick, efficient and COVID-friendly so highly recommended!

This is the third time coming to guu garden. Couldn’t find many of the dishes we like.
Takowasabi is a must try - I am a huge fan or Fred wasabi 9/10

Terrible ever, stinky unfreshed tuna tataki which is the most popular dish serve in Guy Garlic on Robson, unbelievable that payment must be paid before serving by QR code ordering. Unprofessional waitress, such a joke.

本当に美味しかったですから昨日と今日昼食を食べに行きました。We've enjoyed all the Guu's in Vancouver but the selection and service here is awesome!

Guu Garden is fantastic. In pre-COVID times the atmosphere is fantastic and fun, but their delivery service has always been spectacular and many items hold up really well. Great price for what you get, plenty of options to choose from and the service is always great. Very much recommend this location (or any of their other locations!).

Like.not good. Food was barely edible, service was what you would expect from ordering on your phone and tipping beforehand. So many other amazing places to eat Japanese food. Don’t waste your time or money.

Love their online order system, but the tip section mist be improved. Paying tips before the meal is awkward for me.
Fusion Japanese food menu is a nice idea, they taste good, not to mention. However no Japanese beer at Japanese restaurant.

Excellent izakaya restaurant! The dishes are all delicious, packed with flavour and well presented. Prices are excellent! Service is great, very helpful. The salmon oshi was one of my favorite dishes, the brown rice was a nice twist! The ebi mayo was my second favorite, perfectly cooked and lightly battered!

I loved everything they served here, I truly recommend this spot! I’d like to come back for the takoyaki and mackerel oshizushi!
The atmosphere is super nice! Loved the Zashiki style tables.

Not the most extensive of menus, but otherwise food is authentic and tasty, service is friendly, and prices are reasonable, for a downtown restaurant.

The food here is pretty delicious, and the service was helpful. Large patio for COVID, which is nice. Only 4 stars because I do believe the food is a bit costly compared to other places.

This is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in downtown! Their service is great! The food is very intricate and flavourful. During covid time, they have QR code on their table that allows you to order and pay through your phone. I love the thought they put in designing their outdoor dining experience. They have heater, pretty lighting and a nice view.

Just love the outdoor rooftop space this Guu offers compared to other locations. We had the table at the far end by the large pine tree and the peace and privacy made Prince Poo feel nice and relaxed after a hard day’s work.

Most everything on the menu sounds great and comes out really nice looking as expected from an izakaya. We loved the Agedashi Mozzarella and Wagyu Hamburger steak, finished off with multiple rounds of cold sake. The Beef Tongue Cheese Curry Rice was ok.

Ordering is done by phone and strongly advise making a reso to avoid a long wait. Poo would definitely come back again

I used to like coming here a lot. The ambience is good but it can get too loud and rowdy.

I liked going there for dinner but for lunch I felt like the items were not at the same level.
I'd recommend coming here to check it out. Love their chicken cartilage, the prawn avocado salad, the ebi mayo, the tuna tataki, the kimchi bibimbap and a few other dishes! Pair it with beer and you're good to go.

Nice place to go and hang out with friends or have dinner with your loved one. The staff are pleasant and friendly. They have a good selection of appys and drinks. We ordered chicken karage, squid rings (calamare), tuna tataki, takoyaki and some drinks. Nice Friday evening to end the work week. They have an automated ordering system where you use your smart phone to order and immediately pay for your order. Once you're done, you can just leave. They have a 2hr seating limit which is understandable in this current covid social distancing times. Btw, if you want patio seating, best to make reservations. They open up the patio ceiling/roof if weather permits.

I came in for lunch with an associate, it took a bit to find, it is on the third level in a remarkably serene patio setting. It is a sheltered patio area with cover, it really was beautiful and serene. The service was very good and the food was excellent. We tried a number of things. We shared a sashimi combo, the sashimi was excellent. We also shared a variety of other things, Fluffy fish cakes, cod cheeks, octopus. And the miso soup was excellent.

Guu has changed a lot from my first experience with them 15 years ago in Gastown. The downtown location is tucked up and away which is nice as it has a secretive vibe about it. A traditional Japanese greeting welcomes you in the door. The menu has retained its original tapas style with more new world and fusion additions. Our meals were excellent but a bit pricey for what I consider more casual fare. The interior was lacking for us and most people were just there for a quick bit. Most people had their coats on which was odd to us. Maybe it was cold or something, but it gave off a fast food feeling that for the price isn’t what I wanted.

The drink menu is lovely with lots of unique flavours.

Maybe the downtown location is going for a casual environment, but something about it fell short of the upscale experience I had years ago.

A nice sushi place. A bit more pricey than a regular Japanese restaurant in Vancouver but it is definitely worth trying it out.

This is a great Japanese fusion restaurant that is part of the Guu Family of restaurants in Vancouver. They have great cocktails like the Frozen Sake Bellini. The service is very good and arrives quickly. The restaurant is usually very busy, so you may want to get a reservation.
