A beautiful natural resource. Great for running around the lake, or just hiking around with the dog and kids to get some energy out.

Usually a busy place on weekends and hot days. It's convenient for families. But the water gets murky because of the activity, but it's warm in the summer.
They're also in the beginning phases of replacing the change/washrooms and the playground. So right now, there's some rather undesirable places to go take a toddler to the toilet (so bring a potty) but - the future should be better.

A great place to go at all times of the year for the 10km round trip walk or run. Nature bathing is so healthy, I love this place

If you try to kayak/paddle board on the northern part, you will be interpreted a lot by roaring boat noise, oil smell and naughty waves. Stick with the eastern coast of lower to the Beaver side and you'll be fine.

I love going to this lake too many memories, I definitely wouldn't recommend swimmin on the beaver lake side because its where all the ducks do their business unless you take a shower after or something. Also a great lake for tubing and fishing

Simple old school wooden playground with some slides and small zip line style rail slider near a little beach on Elk Lake. Washroom structure and lots of open space and picnic tables. Can hear a constant hum of cars at mid day, but some how that makes it white noise and feel relaxing. Had a little nap on the beach while the kids played in the sand with my wife.

Really great spot for a run. Fairly level, wide path, almost exactly 10k around. Definitely recommend.

I should probably give it 4 stars, not 3, for its 10-km.trail, which makes it a great place to meet for a longer walk, equidistant between the east, west, north and south parts of Greater Victoria. But I can't possibly rate it as highly as I do some of the other lake walks on the lower island, where you can get out into a sense of wilderness. Elk/Beaver Lake feels like a mostly residential trail. (I don't use it for swimming or rowing, so I can't rate it for that.)

This is the gem of Victoria. Plain and simple. Forest walks, birdwatching, fishing and boating, a perfect 10k trail run, bridle and bike trails. Absolutely perfect.

Awesome lakes for a 10k run. Smooth, easy terrain. Been running Beaver and Elk lakes for so many years. Beautiful scenery and rasy to navigate. Great for walks too. Serenity found.

If running or walking is your passion then this park is a great location. Walk or run the enitre perimiter trail for a 10K workout or enjoy the scenery with stunning lake views.

Plenty of paths to walk your doggos on whether you're looking for a quick walk or a long walk (10km).

A good park close to the city with opportunities for light hiking, fishing, swimming, dog walks and even horseback riding.
See if you can find my fly in the maple tree on the south end of the lake!

Often has algae blooms.not safe for people or pets. Beautiful to look at but that's all it is.can't be fully enjoyed due to water quality issues.

Be prepared for the looks and glares if your bike remotely looks electric even if your 100% compliant expect harsh judgment and please visit the park and explore away but ya 100% compliant respectful but their dog's poop in there hands in those little baggies they usually carry around but end up in the most remote spots is seemingly more welcomed than a slow respectful cyclist well e-cyclist

Elk Lake and Beaver Lake are part of a beautiful park with lots of water sports and walking. There is a 10km walk around the perimeter of both lakes (always take the right fork or you may end up in the suburbs) that goes past some beautiful lookout spots.

If you like to row, the Elk Lake Boathouse has one of the most modern fleets of rowing hulls in Canada, comprised almost entirely of Hudson competition shells. The equipment is VERY well taken care of and the lake is very large and open.

The boathouse is also the home of the Canadian Olympic Men's Rowing Team that won Gold in Beijing Silver in London, as well as home to excellent University, Master's, and Junior competitive clubs.

If rowing isn't your thing, you can bring your own boat and paddle around, or water ski in particular sections of the lake. There is an avid fishing group that keeps the lake stocked with trout. Apparently, there are catfish and snapping turtles as well, so be mindful of your toes near the shores in the channel between Elk and Beaver Lake!

Avoiding the water altogether is easy if you want as there are several beaches to picnic at our play field games. There is a public BBQ at the Elk Lake Boathouse that can be booked for large events.

This is a great park for going for walks, fishing, picnics hanging out, etc. Just stay out of the water!

Nice beaches and 10k trail but the water is very murky. There are problems with the algae bloom making it unsafe to swim

There is a trail that follows the circumference of the two, joined, lakes. This is a great place for hiking, picnics, dog walking, swimming, more.

There is a small "Discovery Place" building at Beaver Lake. When it's open, you can go inside and see evidence of some of the local animals, and plants. They offer special, seasonal, informational events. I think that the events are advertised in the (free) Monday Magazine, Saanich Recreation Guides, and they might have a site online. They are great events for both adults and kids, and they are usually free.

Both lakes offer free public washrooms and free parking. Beaver Lake has a small playground for kids. I'm not sure if Elk Lake has a playground. I think that they do, but I'm not sure. Sometimes people ride horses along the trail, but there is room enough, for them to pass by those who are on foot.

Elk Lake has more of a sandy beach, whereas Beaver Lake has more of a grassy beachfront.

Great place to take the kids! Wonderful swimming area as well. If you're up for it, there is a great walk around the whole lake.

Beautiful, calm lake. There is plenty of opportunity to do various water activities. No big boats or large wake, so perfect for fishing, paddle boarding, or canoe/kayaking. The water is very clean and generally safe to swim in. If you prefer to just lay in the sun or have a nice picnic there are lovely options for this as well. It's also super busy with runners and for a stroll around the lake.

At the time of writing the beach was closed due to harmful bacteria. Still pretty can walk around use the picnic tables. Many people were fishing.

This park is the park me and Jackie and Mochi really like to go! You can walk around the lake for 10 km and less depends on your personal fitness level! I know a lady just loves to walk everyday and she is in her 90th but still very healthy and active! So walking around everywhere is a very good thing for everyone! Stay active and stay healthy!

Love this place. I have swam and kayaked here but I love jugging around the lakes. The kilometers are marked and the trail is wide and you meet up with lots of people

There's a decent sized sandy beach which is a nice change from the rocky shores of many of the lakes around Victoria. I'm not sure what runs off into this lake, but it leads to a lot of weed growth, so it's not the best for swimming if you don't like weeds.
