Changing my glowing 5* review because there has just been too many disappointing coffees and barista attitudes for me to continue to praise this place.

The coffee was very good. I had an americano, and it was just the right temperature as well as well flavoured. The almond croissant was very good, but I wish it had been bigger. The pumpkin scone was very good and a nice size. It wasn't too sweet and comes with butter but you need to ask for it. It open onto a large hallway that is lined with artwork. There is lots of seating and it's quite modern and bright. Lots of options for food as well as coffees.

Quickly stopped here for a coffee and immediately noticed the delicious smelling treats. The barista was very friendly and ready to take our order. Nice atmosphere inside and good seating. Looks conveniently located next to the library too! Coffee was excellent. Looking forward to returning and trying some food.

I've been going to this coffee shop for a while, I often stop by to get coffee and food and also purchase coffee beans for home once a week. For the most part staff are friendly but I have to say this isn't alway consistent. My most recent experience unfortunately has put me off returning at all. The staff member who served me my coffee was lovely but there was another member of staff who gave me real attitude as soon as I walked in and I couldn't work out why, I said hello and smiled and they gave nothing back. It seems I used an entrance door that they are not using anymore and they had a problem with that, I had previously always used this door to enter in the summer. I wasn't aware of another door. As I was leaving after collecting my order, the same staff member with attitude shouted across the cafe to me " can you use the other door" in a really rude manner! No explanation, no polite way of informing me (which I wouldn't have minded), it left me feeling pretty stupid and annoyed that someone would think this is an acceptable way to talk to someone. I work in customer service myself and know I would never speak to anyone like that, I also understand the importance of good customer service! If using that door is a problem please put a sign to direct customers to the correct entrance.

Great coffee, great staff and tasty snacks, all you need for a snack or a light brunch. I would highly recommend here.

Modern feel and amazing selection of coffee and bakery items. Perfect place to bring your computer and work.

Wow. Not much more to say than wow. Great tasting coffee roasted by Greg, our local roasting expert. Great tea selection, wonderful baked yummies and staff that are friendly and just wonderful down to earth friendly people.

Great atmosphere and coffee, horribly inconsistent baristas.
Second time visiting and our latte were spilled all over the plate, cleaned up with a dirty rag to wipe the counter, and when asked to have them remade the barista said it's just coffee on the rag.
On-top of that an under extracted shot and horrible frothed milk.
Hopefully baristas can get some better training on the machine and customer service.

Couldn't find a table as it was overrun with students and their paperwork sprawled over multiple tables. Messy not very clean.

Great cafe! Unpretentious, nice vibe, friendly baristas, and good espresso. Not sour like the rest of them.

Just looking back at places I've been.and man, do I miss ERC! I'm in the Northern interior now, but if I ever set foot on the island again, my first stop will be here for an Americano! I see they have moved, as I knew was the plan, and I can't wait to see it! Best roasted coffee, hands down! Hmmm.wonder if they'll ship some to me here? Oh! And definitely get a scone or 2!

Easy 5-star review. The coffee was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented, a cottage paired with sparkling water. The music is just right, the space has a modern, contemporary design that is still warm and inviting. I tried a gluten free cake that was chewy, chocolaty and just salty enough. I haven’t had a gluten free treat that delicious in some time.

I love this new location! In addition to the delicious beans and finely crafted coffee drinks, the baked goods section is expanded and also delicious. Very friendly "where everybody knows your name" kind of vibe is an added bonus.

Absolutely delightful little coffee shop in Esquimalt town square. They have such a great menu with a wide variety of drink options. Their baked good are also delicious.

Being in the same building as the library was so cool. I arrived early to meet a friend so I rented a short story to read while waiting for a friend.

I will definitely be back here soon and recommend it to EVERYONE.

I come here almost every day because it's a five minute walk from where I live, and I used to go to the coffee shop when it was in the smaller location. The people working here are always so nice and friendly, and super speedy! The coffee is delicious, and the beans are really nice and with lots of variety. If you bring your own container for beans, they will fill it for you:)

A great little coffee shop in the middle of downtown Esquimalt. From yummy backed goods and great coffee, to whole bean coffee that you can enjoy from home, this place has all you want in a coffee shop

Coffee was tasty, not sure about the hidden cup costs. Next time I'm bringing my own mug. Nice new location, keep up the good work.

Delicious coffee!
Nice environment in a lovely new apartment building. Next to the market square and a future library, but a little hard to find if you are driving. Park next to the police station and walk around then you will find it.

The absolute best customer service I have ever experienced in a coffee shop! SUCH friendly staff House brew is also incredible!

Genuinely great coffee place. The owner is a gem, their baristas are very competent, the coffees are well roasted. I always look for a reason to stop in. Highly recommend.

Good coffee, great service. I tend to like coffee shops that have a few more baked good/food options. I know this is a roastery, that’s just my personal preference. Would still recommend for a good cup of coffee!

Perfecting an espresso blend.
Today I tried ERC's espresso (a blend of 4 south american single source arabicas) - Wow: lot's of crema, bold enough without being too bitter, low acidity, full-bodied. Worth the trip. Across the street from Memorial Park and Esquimalt Adventure Water Park. Highly recommended.

Loved their coffee, would recommend this shop to anyone. Nice to support local as well! My boyfriend is a picky coffee drinker and he really enjoyed their cappuccino.

Not much I can say for these guys to improve on (knowing they will be moving next door soon to a beautiful new space). The coffee is excellent! Consistency is king with roasting coffee and Greg has captured a consistent and delicious, blended espresso. I stop here for coffee the most and I buy a lot of coffee. Keep up the great work Greg and team!

For the last couple of years we have enjoyed coffee from this shop as we come for a visit to the Island. Our lattes were top tier as we have become accustomed to and the proprietor again received us warmly. Ausgezeichnet!

Fantastic little roastery on the come-up deep in the ESQ. Greg is absolute tops, the whole space is great, nice pricing, and the small sweet selection is well-curated.
I’m so happy to see another roaster not getting pulled into the dogmatic “hyper-light-roasts-only” mentality and aiming more into the chocolatey, earthy mediums & darks - not unlike Bean Around The World’s stuff.
I wish they could have more variety in beans available at any given time, and I feel like the bar work could improve in consistency, but overall a great shop and one to watch - especially as they move into the new location!

My favorite place in Victoria for coffee and beans to take home. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and above all, not snobbish hipsters! Very down to earth and welcome to all patrons. Excellent coffee.

Expert coffee roaster! I drive around and have coffee daily and have tried roasts from different parts of North America. I rank them with Phil and Sebastian's (Calgary), Mayorga Coffee (Rockville MD), Quince (Denver), Bows and Arrows (Victoria)

One of the best coffee shops in Esquimalt. Run by a friendly Aussie. Highly recommend the 12oz latte with an extra shot.
