Ex Nihilo Vineyards

Though we enjoyed our visit to Ex Nihilo Vinyard and the charming sommelier, we were disappointed the $5 tasting fee is added to your wine purchases even when multiple bottles purchased. Beautiful views of Lake and Vinyard.

We love coming to the Okanagan every season. Liz gave us one of the best tasting experiences we've had in a few years - don't skip this winery!

We had a wine tasting with 5 wines.
We were assigned a table and were presented with different wines and told something about them. Especially compared to other tastings, a lot of time is taken here, even if the tastings are rather quick.
The staff was more than friendly and we also took two bottles of ice wine with us, which we were allowed to try for free because we were on our honeymoon. We would book a tasting there again.

Disappointing service. We have enjoyed this wine in the past, have visited the winery before, and planned to purchase a case.

We arrived at the entrance and waited where the sign asked us to wait. After waiting between five and 10 minutes - and being seen and ignored by at least four staff, we gave up and left.

Our experience at other wineries that day was the total opposite. Too bad!

We stopped in here for a glass of wine and our server Mary Anne was an absolute delight. Not only is she great at her job she has a wicked sense of humor to really make the experience memorable. The vineyard is beautifully kept. Would definitely return.

2nd time here and this time the price of tasting has gone up quite a bit but when they explained why, we understood. They have been going through it with bad weather affecting the grapes. What I loved was that despite that, they had a sit down tasting experience and poured us a hefty amount of sparkling white upon entering. The man who did our tasting was so much fun and very kind. Loved the atmosphere in the tasting area and all around vibes, and they had the best wines out of all the other wineries we went to. Highly recommend

The food and wine is excellent! The European donuts were amazing. I hope you make them apart of the regular menu.

Ex Nihilo was our third stop of seven during our wine tour.

We had four samples. We were given permission to take pictures around the vineyard unsupervised. The samples were all delicious.

The pricing was on par with the other wineries we stopped at that day.

I forget the gentleman's name who served us, but he told us a bit of info about each of the samples.

My bf and I came here yesterday for a wine tasting. It's a beautiful property and the tasting area was thoughtfully covered so you did not necessarily die in the scorching sun!

For the tasting, you get two whites and two reds. My bf and I really liked the reds, but what made our experience so memorable was our server Donna! She was absolutely amazing and so funny! I wish we could have spent more time talking to her, but this is even more reason to come back again when she's working!

Beautiful building and grounds, and friendly staff, but not the best wine in the area. After visiting a few others nearby, the wines here didn’t stand out and had less taste. They’re good, but it’s hard to stand out with some many excellent wineries close by.

Beautiful winery and exquisite service. We enjoyed a tasting overlooking the lake. Loved some of the wines. You’ll enjoy the experience if you go there I’m sure.

Had dinner at Chaos Bistro - a wonderful experience! We have a dog with us and he's allowed on the grass area by the entrance with us sitting in the couch nearby. Very dog friendly and the dog on the property came by to say hi to our dog. The food was also impeccable. Garlic prawns and Scallop crudo were great (crudo is super refreshing for summer time). Love the strip loin and salmon as well (beef is a must try). Dessert with ice wine was also amazing. Will definitely be back!

We are visiting from out of town and the crew decided that we wanted to try out the scenic sip wine tour in lake country. I’m an Italian that doesn’t care for wine……I know!
I still participated and chose to drink and rate the wineries! Of the 8 scenic sip wineries Ex Nihilo is 10/10! They have the best ambience, inviting sit down wine tasting, educational history, Adrienne was our wine expert and she was stellar! I’d love to go back and have lunch there. There ice wine came home with me:). We will be back

Amazing wine, great story as to how the winery came to be, and the staff are all super friendly. The atmosphere is very relaxed, yet classy as well! I loved the tasting on the couch. I will totally be back!

We tried 5 different times wineries during our visit from Toronto and this winery had all the best wines! We also loved Pamela the hostess! She was super lovely and accommodating with us even though we showed up 5 minutes before closing! We can’t wait to come back!

Always 5 stars for Ex Nihilo! Their red wines are so delicious. I take all of my out of town guests here. They also do room rentals for small parties. You usually have to sign up as a wine member to do this, but it's totally worth it. Thank-you Ex Nihilo for somehow standing out in a market filled with wineries.

Tried their wine for the first time at an Italian restaurant in Peachland. Being a big fan of white wine, got a few recommendation of Riesling and Chardonnay from a local friend of ours. Love at first sight with their 2019 Riesling so decided to head down to their winery and boy was I in for a treat! Pamela was so warm in greeting us and dazzled us with all the story behind the place and gave us a lovely flow of providing one wine knowledge after another. Lovely ambience and customer service can’t wait till we’re back in the summer!

Want to give a big shout out to Carol our tasting guide. She was wonderful. The tasting room is gorgeous and the wines are delightful. A must visit if you’re touring in Lake Country.

Absolutely amazing wine! I definitely recommend scheduling a tasting as a starting point. I'm hooked!

Our tasting experience was very impersonal, as the assistant brought everything out at once, quickly rattled off the information about each wine, then didn’t return until the end to collect glasses. Usually the tasting cost is waived if guests buy a bottle, but not here. We exited through the gift shop and nobody in our group (6ppl) bought anything to take home. Beautiful location, but not worth the lacklustre tasting experience.

Great vibe, but not too taken with the wine on offer at the tasting. Maybe another time, with another wine, my review might be better.

Having been to this vineyard 3 times previous, we were quite disappointed In the new attitude. The tasting was impersonal and underwhelming. We do like a few of the wines and we’re quite disappointed to learn that the cost of tasting was not reimbursed when we purchased $300 in wine. Too big for their britches now and we won’t be returning. Frind winery is a gem and is far better for the value and experience.

Ambience, aromas, flavours, service, all were over the top. First time there, we will be back next time we are in Lake Country. Thank you to Carol our server who guided us thru the menu and wine pairing. Can't wait until we come back.

Covid protocols proper. Food excellent. Service (by John) better then excellent. And the 2018 and 2019 Nights weren't bad either.

Excellent spot in Lake Country, must visit! Highly recommend doing a tasting and picking up a few (or a lot) of bottles of their Imagine sparkling brut, IT IS AMAZING.

My 2nd visit. We had a reservation and were sat in the sun on a scorching hot day. We asked the staff to give us one of the 2 tables in the shade, they told they were both reserved for 30 mins from now. We were there for 1.5 hour and those empty tables in the shade were still available. Slightly disappointed.

I am going to start out by saying that I am a wine club member here because their wine is great. The knight, XX imagine and Pinos gris are all so good.

Recently I visited Ex Nihilo for a tasting to try the newer wines and I was shocked that the server was not wearing her mask inside the tasting room. She wasn't our server (who was wearing his mask) but still decided to come up only a couple feet away to say hi and chat. It was ridiculous. It is unfortunate that they are allowing this at the winery.

I had dinner here last week with some girlfiends as I had heard great things from work colleagues. I was SO impressed. The hostess was amazing - and didn't get annoyed after I asked to switch tables (I wanted more of a view haha), and our server Sam was incredible. She was knowledgable, kind and attentive, without being over bearing. The food was outstanding and wine flight delicious. Exactly what we needed! I will be back - and hopefully see Sam again ;)

On May 3rd my friends and I had the pleasure of doing a tasting with your staff member Josh. He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and invested in your product. He shared with us both the story of your vineyard and the flavour profiles of the wine in a way that was both in depth and fun (how did he do that? !). I will definitely be back to try out the restaurant!

Great and friendly service and a good selection of relatively expensive wines. The Pinot Gris and Riesling are very nice. The Night red blend is outstanding.

Very disappointing and uncomfortable experience. Several servers had their masks or face shields hanging off one ear while serving. Our server actually removed her face shield to talk to us about the wines while standing less than a metre from us. We saw her touching the inside of her mask before serving us our flights without cleaning her hands in between and I also watched a busboy touch his hair and his face before handling clean glasses. The wine was okay, but very expensive compared to nearby wineries for lower quality. I would highly recommend avoiding this winery.

Amazing experience here on our honeymoon! We dropped by for a wine tasting and Carol was so informative and friendly, she gave us a bunch of suggestions for a lunch spot and informed us they served dinner there as well. She was so great we knew right away we wanted to come back for dinner. The food was delicious and service was great. Highly recommend this place as a stop on your wine route!

My wife and I recently had dinner and a wine tasting at Ex Nihilo as part of our 10th Anniversary. It was fantastic from start to finish. They really do things right and went out of their way to make sure our night was special. We would definitely recommend, and are planning to be back.

The winery and tasting room are beautiful and the staff were friendly. However, the tasting fee is twice the price of most others in the area and I did not find the quality of the wine was reflected in this. What disappointed me most were the poor social distancing and hygiene demonstrated by many of the staff members. I saw our server, whose mask was hanging off their ear most of the time, adjust and touch the inside of their mask and then, without washing or sanitizing their hands, serve us our tasting flight. During our short visit, I saw other staff members do the same, touching their masks and neglecting to clean their hands afterwards. Our server stood quite close to our table (no more than one metre) while telling us about the wines, again with their mask hanging off their ear. I was very uncomfortable here and left quickly.

I am a wine club member here and had a great experience. The vineyard is beautiful, the tasting room is great with a lively atmosphere and the wines are fantastic. But I'm leaving this rating because I placed an order on Dec 2nd 2019 and still have yet to receive any information in the order, its January 9th 2020 now. I've called and left voicemails as well as sent multiple emails all with no response. I'd be more than happy to edit this review if or when I get a call back or email. Customer service is a very impotant and if I'm not even extended the courtesy of an email to help resolve my issues I will be discontinued my membership. (UPDATE) I recieved a call explaining the situation and are currently in trying to find the issue with the shipping company I've updated the rating from 2 to 4 star (UPDATE). I recieved my case of wine today (January 20th 2020)

Not only has Ex Nihilo a stunning location overlooking Okanagan Lake from the newly built patio, the wines are excellent and especially the red wines excel any other wines in the region.
The staff goes beyond their duties to make you feel comfortable and it shows that they feel at home at this winery.
I highly recommend the wine pairing in the summer: 5 different Ex Nihilo wines perfectly paired with the most delicious bites of food - A firework for the senses

Didn't have the same bad experience with the service as some of the other reviewers - in fact, this was out favourite winery in the region. Personable and knowledgeable tasting room staff, beautiful space, incredibly delicious wines. We'll definitely be back!

This winery looks great from the outside but upon entry was super pretentious and rude.
Our pourer maybe should think about retirement If she’s tired of the public.
My money will be spent at wineries that welcome all walks of life.

Lovely wines and pleasent location. A little pushy for us to leave when it was apparent we were finishing the last of the tasting. They only wave one tasting fee per bottle purchased. That was surprising as a couple we usually have both waved with purchase

I was served a custom pizza by the staff, it was amazing. But no compare to the superb dish washing i witnessed.

My experience here was wonderful. The vineyard was outstanding, the customer service as well as the representatives of this establishment was pleasant. When I walked in it was very welcoming! I came in alone and felt like I was accompanied by new friends. I learned so much about the story behind the senes as well as the art of their delicious wines. The wine was exceptional in my personal opinion. My favourite had to of been the pinot noir. Thank you so much for the experience, I cannot wait to come back!

We had lunch here, food was nothing remarkable but location and service was excellent! Relaxing atmosphere in the middle of a vineyard.

One of the best wineries in the northern okanagan. Stand out reds that any wine owner would be proud to cellar or surprise their friends with. It has a small but decent menu which pairs with available wines. The seating varies from inside, under a tented cover to outdoor tables with umbrellas and if you member up there are exclusive tables in the vineyard widely separated from each other. Bottom line is the wines. They are outstanding

Did a girlfriend wine tour day, and tried taking a selfie by the orchard, and a wonderful gentleman, who mentioned he was the owner, offered to take the picture for us. The luncheon was amazing, highly recommend the gnocchi dish, service was exceptional. The wine was amazing, friendly staff. Thanks for a wonderful end of the tour. We’ll be back.

We went in for a gastronomic experience tasting, and we were really impressed with the level of attention and care in the pairings. The food was phenomenal! Great service, very tasty wines, in a beautiful location.

Nice large building, nice sunny, wine tasting room, large indoor restaurant and to complement the restaurant, a comfortable covered patio dining area with a pizza window. If I was to take the average price of your portfolio wines, the price works out to $33 per bottle, which, for me, does not seem to have any competitive edge for many reasons.

Charcuterie: - No rating for this one as, to be fair, this is not something we usually eat, but we wanted to give our out of town/country guests something new to try. Glad we tried, but not my favorite dish.

A really excellent experience. It seems like all of the staff are having a great time. Wine quality is high and the prices reflect that. Worth a visit!

Just the best experience. One of the most underrated wine experiences in the area. Their merlot and Riesling 2015 are outstanding. We paired it with an amazing pizza and enjoyed the view of the Okanagan. When in lake country come here, you won’t regret it! We ended up leaving with with a case of Riesling and Merlot.

Wondering experience of beautiful spring weather with a pre-booked Epicurean Tasting Experience. Thank you to Isaac for such an informative and enjoyable tasting. We got to hear the background story of the vineyard and then got to meet Jeff the owner. Love to see authentic desire to welcome every guest and create a delightful experience. We’ll be back!

As locals, we love coming here! Unfortunately our last experience was with someone who appeared to either dislike her job or the fact that we were there. We had to wait anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes between each tasting, without any acknowledgement or a smile. Pronunciations of the wines were incorrect so it appeared there was little knowledge about what we were really tasting, and despite reluctantly buying bottles (because we do like their wine), our guide had to pay for the tasting. We will definitely skip Ex Nihilo on our next Scenic Sip Loop.

Was more interested in talking to her buddy that come in the door. Nice enough girl but not to great on customer service. Good wine though.
