Fable Diner at Main and Broadway

Finally decided to try this out. Totally worth it. Probably some of the best scrambled eggs I've ever tasted. Prices are reasonable, service is excellent! One of the best breakfast places in Vancouver that I've tried.

Love the space, I pass by it almost daily and decided to give it a chance. Didn't disappoint, great vibes and delicious food, with amazing service. Will definitely come back.

Oops soorry but i forgot to post a review of our recent visit a couple of weeks ago and I was about to write a review 4 days ago and got busy and complete forgot.so anyway.we came here last year and the food was sooooo good.but unfortunately we're not to sure what happened perhaps covid has really hurt this restaurant and somehow they are trying to recover some money that was lost.or perhaps the chef quit or the owners changed.but this place definitelydoes not live up to our review from last time we were here and we were quite disappointed.the pictures attachedto this review was last year. I hope Fable come back around again with the flavors portions and presentation.unfortunatelyI have no photos of our last meal a few weeks ago.and im sad to write a 2 star review because of absolutely loved this restaurant.my review last year was 5 stars: mouth watering is how I can describe this late night high end diner.the menu choices were so hard to choose from everything just sounds so tasty.high quality ingredients are sourced locally as well.this is now our official favorite place for some high quality comfort food and milkshakes.

The salmon cakes were a tad too salty, but the mini doughnuts were just right. Nice ambiance - takes you back in time. Nostalgic. Excellent service. Will return.

Great system for checking vaccine passports; awesome, high quality ingredients and dishes. Such friendly service. So happy we went here!

I've been here a number of times and I think the best thing I've had was the meatloaf!

The interior is so beautiful here and it has really good vibes.

My son took me out for brunch. Enjoyed the brunch I ordered. Cannot comment on price as it was a treat and I didn't pay for our meal.

Prohibition breakfast was AMAZING. Great deal, especially if you have a mimosa or cocktail. Very good portions. Service was a little slow but that's no surprise considering how popular and busy they were. Will return!

We came here for brunch once and thought the food was ok, but service was pretty bad. So we decided to give it another try for Thanksgiving dinner. I told the server I had an allergy to brussel sprouts and asked if it was possible to have my dinner without it and a bit more stuffing instead. She looked annoyed and told me she would just make sure that there would be no brussel sprouts on my plate. My plate came without brussel sprouts at least. The biscuit was tiny, and the turkey was ok. The server never came back to ask us about the food or refill our drinks. Service has been awful both times we've been there. At least the turkey was not bad.

This place is a mainstay for me and my husband. This place fully converted him to the faith of blended frozen dairy confections. The food was excellent but I just wish he could stop "spreading the good word" about Nutella whipped cream.

Never had any bad food or drink at Fable. Taste profiles are always spot on. Friendly service good price points. Don't forget them behind the construction!

One of the best brunch deals out there. Delicious coffee, a cocktail of your choice, a small pastry, entree and small dessert all for $25. Good portion sizes and tasted delcious.

Very poor service. I ask for the milk for my coffee to be warmed up as it was very cold. I was told they couldn't warm up the milk. Also very pricey for a simple breakfast with one toast $12. Would not visit again.

I really enjoyed my meal. The restaurant was very clean and well staffed.

The burger was one of the best ones I've ever had. Hats off to your crew

Happy hour, not so happy. Came for a goodbye brunch with my partner. Waitress was immediately very pushy and difficult and full of attitude when we had questions about the menu. The food was dropped off promptly but nobody came to our table for the remainder of our visit to check on us.
The food was tasty! The service was anything but.
Really unfortunate to be treated so poorly for no apparent reason and while trying to have one last nice meal together. Maybe they were off their game today, but it's no excuse to be rude.

I visited Fable on a Friday evening while on my solo trip to Vancouver. I was greeted by a welcoming waiter who seated me at a small cozy table. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. I ordered dinner and drinks, both of which were good and reasonably priced. There‘s a great mix of classic and unique hearty dishes on the menu and a good beer selection. However, while very friendly on the surface, in hindsight I found my waitress quite rude. Around every 10 minutes she asked me if she could do sth for me, even if I still had drinks and food. At first I thought she was just being attentive but after some time I felt she was signaling me I wasn’t consuming enough. I stayed around 1,5 hours and had dinner and two tall alcoholic beverages. I think that’s pretty normal. I wasn’t rushing and also reading a book alongside since I was alone, but I definitely wasn’t unnecessarily dragging out my stay like those people that hover at Starbucks with their laptops all day drinking one coffee either. After around 1h15 I was suddenly unpromptedly presented the bill with the comment „No rush“. Tbh, I was too perplexed to say anything. I‘m not sure if this diner has a time slot policy so they can use the table twice per night. But even then, I find 1h15 is definitely too short, usual slots I‘ve experienced in other places are 2-2,5h and you can at least notify the guest before just giving him the bill. Additionally, my glass was still half full since I‘d only ordered a drink shortly before and there were still free tables, it wasn’t like people were queuing outside. Who’s to say I wouldn’t have liked to order something else either? Needless to say I didn’t after that, I obediently payed my bill and left. I don’t know if this practice is common or just an isolated issue with my waitress, I saw no other tables being treated like this. If you had asked me if I would return to Fable within the first 30 minutes I would’ve said „For sure! “ but now I’m not so certain…

A delightful diner, great decoration, everything really cute. Great service, my food had a little problem but they solved quickly. I had the hot mess customized on lettuce wrap and green salad and it was incredibly delicious. My husband ordered the pizza burger, which is out of their menu but they’ll still do it for you. Very good experience!

They deserve far more stars than 5. I would give them 10. Beautiful restaurant and the food is Amazing. The staff go above and beyond service. I highly recommend this restaurant and will return again. Perfect for the whole family!

An interesting take on the usual classics. Was pleasantly surprised with the way the dishes came out. Would love to try some of their other dishes. The first try was definitely impressive. A good brunch place one should check out.

Terrible first time experience for the service here. Not because I'm told to wait 35min when arrived 11am for brunch, but because I called in twice before walking in, at t-30min and t-5min to confirm availability, not once did the staff care to mention it might get busy, and instead, just said there's plenty seats.

Clean, no-frills diner with delicious food. Our server was very friendly and attended to all of our inquires about the menu. Construction outside is very noisy, although that is not the restaurant's fault. $16 for two egg benedicts with your choice of side.

Ordered takeout for brunch. Had the breakfast sandwich with avocado which was extremely delicious, love the addition of pickled jalapeños. The breakfast potatoes lost a little crisp on the transport (to be expected, I think it’s unfair to assume potatoes will be just as good with takeout) but were still yummy. Coffee was excellent! What’s not to like, I’ll be back:)

Gotta love house-made hot sauce and eggs Benny's! The only thing I would say is a minus is their olive oil hollandaise because I prefer OG hollandaise. It's just my preference. Mmmm butter

Great energetic vibes, super friendly staff, and best of all, amazing food!

I actually stopped by the previous night for a late dinner and immediately was sold on trying the ratatouille rigatoni from how enthusiastically my server recommended it. When I came back for a late lunch this afternoon, the hostess immediately recognized me by name despite a change of clothes and a mask on my face.

Blue cheese isn't for everyone and that's okay. Personally, I love the stuff enough to eat a bowl of it straight up. So when the Cobb salad came to my table with actual chunks of the stuff, I all but inhaled the whole bowl. No fake sprinkles of bacon bits either, every ingredient down to the corn and the croutons was hearty, substantial, and fresh.

One day, I'm going to succumb to the siren call of their buttermilk fried chicken burger and booze loaded milkshakes. And I'm more than okay with that. Until then, the Cobb salad and just the sound of the rest of the menu is enough to make me want to keep coming back.

I gave it three stars for a couple of reasons.one: the girl we spoke to once we entered said that she will call or text if a table is empty but actually one later we came back and by coincidence we found an empty table? ! No one had called!

Second: even though the waitress was lovely and absolutely helpful and courteous but she kinda brought the check before we finished ordering our milk shakes which was part of our breakfast promotion so I kinda felt that she was kicking us nicely.

Third: I ordered eggs Benedict with avocado but it was more like guacamole spread beneath the eggs and the Hollandaise sauce could be better!

It was bit noisy for me.but the overall booking experience through OpenTable was actually pretty smooth and would recommend using the app for future bookings. As for Fable diner, it's a good place for a breakfast or brunch.can't deny that but I wouldn't go again.for me it was just a one time to try their Prohibition brunch!

If you’ve never been, you need to go here for their farm to diner fare. I have never been disappointed with their service or food. Bonus when we went was that all dad’s received a free drink. I chose their amazing peanut butter chocolate shake with Nutella whipped cream and pretzels. Yes, it tastes better than it sounds. Next up is their pulled pork fry bowl. An exquisite blend of flavours with the acidity from their pickled onions cutting through the richness of the pork. We coincidentally ordered their pulled pork sandwich which is absolutely delicious. Their burger is cooked well as expected. I had their DDD meatloaf and their mushroom gravy is spectacular. All day breakfast with pork belly? !? YES! Another fantastic meal and I shall return soon.

Their menu is so fun! I came here just to try the duck kimchi pancakes and they did not disappoint. Very different than your usual pancake. 10/10 would recommend.

Without a doubt, my favourite brunch spot in Vancouver. Excellent customer service, and satisfying and delicious food, that can make a simple breakfast decadent.

Tried for the first time. We were craving for burgers for a while and found this to be one of the good ones around. We tried Butter fried Chicken burger and Diner Double Loaded Burger. The first look at the portion was that we might not get filled but after finishing the whole meal. We were full.

Both of the burgers were delicious. I liked the Diner Double Loaded Burger more than the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger. Fries were also good and were fresh. Curbside pick was quick as someone was just waiting for us outside.

Really good. But portions are not the biggest. Left hungry. Never an excuse to leave hungry. Add some filler to your meals.

Delicious food, excellent atmosphere, and friendly staff.
Up to date in Covid procedures, witnessed employee thoroughly cleaning tables, chairs, menus etc.
Recommended the milkshakes and the Broadway Burger!
Music was less than desirable though.young workers having a dance party.some oldies or classic tunes would have worked great.
Fable was a must upon visiting Vancouver and I am proud to say they live up their reputation!

True diner style. Servers are super attentive and very friendly. Food is good and decent portion size. Expensive for a diner.

The Prohibition Brunch is such a fantastic value. I'm consistently served a delicious, filling meal and the milkshakes are beyond compare. The service is always extremely friendly. One of my top brunch spots in the city.

One of my favorites. Food is delicious, service is great. The reservations and seatings for brunch has been a COVID change that I'd love if it stuck around.

We ate during Dine Out and all five of us had the their sirloin steak (done four different level of rare to well-done) and tomato soup! The waitress was lovely.

Went for their Dine Out menu. Staff were super friendly and went the extra mile even though we didn't notice or say anything (Eg cleaned a sticky spot and gave us a new napkin). Food was absolutely amazing! First place I've come across where their desserts aren't sticky sweet.

Menu is not extensive but they have some great options and the prices are reasonable. The food is delicious and creative with a few standout dishes. The place itself is pretty cool, definitely has a classic diner feel to it. The staff are friendly and personable and seems to know the menu well enough to talk about a variety of dishes.
Will be going back to try out a few more things that I couldn't get to this time around.

Was in the line up for 5-10 min at 1pm on a Sunday, so I thought the food must be good. Well food tasted not bad, I’d give 4 stars for the flavor, but the presentation is pretty bad, everything is stacked up tall randomly, salmon was a bit over cooked, also my breakfast was 1 toast. 15$, yah I get it, there’s smoke salmon, 1 egg and some guacamole.but at least throw some potatoes, beans or fruits on the side? Staff was nice.so food 3/5, service 4/5, presentation 1/5, portion 1/5. I wouldn’t go back unless I won’t be paying.

No matter if you want breakfast, lunch, dinner or a midday snack, Fable Diner never disappoints when it comes to fresh and local cuisine. The amount of ingredients made in house truly reflects their passion their farm to table dynamic. The menu and daily features are crafted with care by their wonderful chef and his team!

One of my favorite spots when I'm in the Broadway and Main area. The food is fantastic and the milkshakes are the best. A simplified version of Fable by creative local chef Trevor Bird. Great for both breakfast and lunch. Try the duck pancakes with kimchi!

Burgers, Burgers, Shakes.
Good housemade food. Started with a B52 boozy shake. Num. Nothing like having your dessert first. Our table sampled the chickpea fritter, chicken burger, and a beef burger. Thumbs up all around.
Noticed a lot of families dining. Really well priced.

Very lovely staff! The restaurant had a bright space with a menu full of good brunch staples. The price was fair for the location, although I wasn't overwhelmed with the food (I got a veggie eggs benny on a scone). They do accept BTZ though, which was pretty awesome. I'm not rushing to go back but they did have some really yummy looking desserts and milkshakes! Another bonus is that I didn't have to wait at all for a table for 2 for Saturday brunch.

It was a meh experience overall. My partner and I went for brunch and the food was really disappointing. I had the French toast which was just half a loaf of bread uncut and lacking the egg like quality. I did love the milkshake, but I can't say I will go again.

(I can't reply to the owners comment below, so I'll place it here. I do appreciate the comment and knowing that your staff is trained. That is great for your team. However, just because the French toast has high ratings doesn't mean my thoughts are invalid. I don't rate places poorly for game and I was just being honest.)

The menu items were kind of out there. I had breakfast and the hash browns were cooked with sunflower oil and I could taste it. Good sausages and eggs. The in-house jam left something to be desired.

Great diner experience. Try the tomato soup - it's rich, creamy and perfectly tart, and sublime with bread. Milkshakes are okay. Service is consistently friendly.

We came in a Friday night looking for some dessert. This place was pretty much empty except for a couple booths. We decided to share a milkshake (which still turned into two good sized milk shakes) and some beignets. The beignets were ok, a bit hard for my liking but acceptable. The milkshake on the other hand was really good. The consistency was creamy and heavy on the richness but I mean that's why you drink milkshakes right? It's to feel sickly later but feel energized on the spot. It wasn't too sweet but you really feel that foodcoma afterwards. Service was fast and accommodating. Would go back to try other things on the menu and definitely for the milk shakes

I have not been to their original restaurant - so cannot compare to it. But, the place feels like a diner and the food my husband and I had there - was super tasty. I had a yearning for Mac and cheese and kale Caesar salad. Both were great and my husband had grilled cheese sandwich which he thought was superb. We are looking forward to a second visit. Oh.and we had a big strawberry shake with 2 straws - over the top treat!

It's an ok place. Good location and decent food. I guess my expectations were set a little higher since it's under the Fable family. I had the gnocchi, which was good. My wife had the grits and fried chicken, which she didn't like much. I think breakfast is probably better.

Really enjoyed this diner, I ordered the Ho-Lee breakfast with the $1 sub for rosti, which is hashbrown square with sauce on top. Comes with two sausages, pork belly, 3 eggs your choice, pancake and a salad if you want to sub out the bread, and beans. Its alot of food but it doesn't leave you bloated, it's a good amount of food if you are really hungry. Service is very good here and our server was very attentive and friendly.

Not what you expect at a dinner, definitely a more modern environment and elevated food. Service could be better though and more attentive, but I suppose it's still a diner.

Has a contemporary yet old school atmosphere that visitors to Vancouver should check out.
Comfortable booths, lots of windows, and exceptionally friendly staff.
I opted for the traditional Burger lunch but my friends enjoyed a glass of chardonnay and complicated salads. We all thought the food was excellent and the coffee was kept hot in an endless cup.

Best of all I was so impressed to discover that I left my wallet there and it was returned to me with with the cash intact. I'll be back for lunch there again soon and I recommend you do so as well

We love your milkshakes guys but it is not enough to make us come back. Last time we came, the entire order was wrong (table of 2) and the server did not apologize. On top of that she rushed us to pay. It will take me awhile to forget about this experience

Had the all day breakfast (for dinner), nice crispy and light potatoes (large), two smallish (for me) pieces of sour dough bread, scrambled eggs (at least 4 eggs,) my companion had two scrumptious looking poached eggs, we split a lightlly spiced sausage patty (good quality meat) and a largish bacon piece (mostly fat. But my friend still liked it, sauteed and spiced).

My companion gave a big compliment to our very hip waitress (dreadlocks piled high and twisted with a stick and, possibly a small flower, I was having a hard time taking it all In). "Best breakfast I've ever had" and she eats well!
The waitress laughed good naturely at my lame attempt at humour. (Re the dreadlocks, i.e. "are they real? "). She claimed they were.

Oh.almost forgot the music, fun, upbeat but not so loud that it interfered with the conversation.
My (having a hard day), friend was dancing in her bench seat, and generally enjoyed the heck out of the whole experience.

The atmosphere was so nice and their Kimchi duck pancake was quite interesting. There was a bit of wait but it was not too bad. Finding parking was not easy and the traffic around the area was pretty busy but I’d still to go back!

Did not enjoy the brunch menu. My hash with brisket was the saltest meal I ever had, could not finish it. My partner had the Benny with chicken and the hollandaise sauce tasted like mayo and chicken dry, also side of sausage that was blah! Not a place we will be going to again.

Food is quite good here and they are always really busy - but service has really been sliding fast. I was seated at the bar, staff was heard complaining about various tables right in front of me and a bunch of other customers! Keep it for the staff room guys! As I said they are always busy but attention to each table is inconsistent at best. I had 3 people serve me, none of them particularly welcoming or engaging and nobody offered coffee refills or asked how the food was. The original guy actually never came back despite walking by several times (no further eye contact made). A quick "how are you doing" would have sufficed.not expecting 5 star service but they should at least be as good as the location on 4th. What was odd was that at least 5 different serve staff seemed to have time to shoot the breeze and catch up with a friend/off duty colleague/someone known to them that was sitting nearby.not that busy I guess! He certainly got some good service! A little more polish, a little more attention to detail please. There have been times when it has been better so hope it improves again - there are certainly enough reviews with concerns about service for people to take notice?

Great service and tasty dishes, roast duck pancake and all day breakfasts are a hit! Fried chicken and milkshakes are also fantastic. Our excellent server also surprised us with a lovely treat for our special celebration.
